Bangkok Chef is the place that I get my favorite Veggie Pad Thai...I don't look at the menu I don't even call it in I just swing by park and order and it's ready in minutes. I do love this location as there is a small parking lot right beside the building or if I find a street metered parking I do prefer to just drive up and dash in for a quick pick-up making driving out a breeze. The vibe and decor here is very simple and basic nothing much screams the awesome delicious cuisine it creates sadly, but it's so yummy who cares of that right!?!? The portion size is great and for it's value with just the right amount of flavor without going too far with salt or any seasonings. However, I've been here a handful of times the past couple of months. Their green curry with sticky rice is a lot spicier than other Thai restaurants I've been to. I opted for yellow curry with sticky rice at another visit and the heat was perfect. I do enjoy that you can choose your protein in the curry. I like getting tofu. Their spring rolls are really tasty as well. I am currently a regular here and like that their takeout containers are high quality. You can keep it for later. I had the Lemongrass Chicken special. Sauce wasn't too fishy and vermicelli was not too dry. Chicken was ok. Portion size was a bit wanting but not skimpy. Had a curry dish previously...though don't recall too much other than it was a good meal. I love the nuttiness, mild to medium spicy hot of the Panang Curry over rice, and a comfort food for me. The ginger fish has a sweet, slight hint of fish sauce balanced with slight saltiness. But the all time Pad Thai has its own flavors with peanuts sprinkle over shrimp, tofu, egg, basil, bean sprouts mixed with thick rice noodles. I'm sure a wonderful sauce they add to this really makes a difference, but I'm absolutely in heaven. Now before anyone even start on the savory dishes, I forgot about the spring rolls and pretty much know where to get them and dipped in the their sweet chili sauce! As an appetizer, it's gone! I am writing this review for Bangkok Chef Moilili. I usually have the chicken with red curry when I dine here. The chicken is always moist and tender, the curry sauce is always delicious with just the right amount of heat.I usually have it with a side of multi grain rice, and some ice Thai coffee.The restaurant is always very clean and sanitary.You can tell they take a great deal of pride in maintaining it. They also have a nice,very clean restroom. I haven't tried many other dishes because I enjoy the red curry so much. The servers are always cheerful and friendly. It's fun to practice my Thai on them.The restaurant isnt too crowded. I would highly recommend eating at the Bangkok Chef. Great quality of ingredients They use thinly sliced white meat for the chicken which is what they are supposed to use. Some places use the chicken thighs and do not slice them thinly. My friends and I came here for a meeting and dinner. Not busy on a weekday. Got seated and food came out pretty quick. I ordered the soup...refer to pictures. The soup came out in a very nice and fancy bowl. Did not come with rice or anything unless you want add on. Soup was really salty. Had some seafood and veggies. It tasted milky I think. A bit overpriced for a small bowl of soup. Tried the summer rolls also. Like any other Vietnamese place with summer rolls. No complaints. What I really enjoyed the most was the mango sticky rice ice cream. That dessert was heaven. Mango ice cream was soft and not too sweet. It was creamy and didn't melt so fast as I thought it would. Affordable but not good. I only ordered 2 things via delivery and was disappointed. The fried rice with shrimp was definitely fresh and hot but barely had any flavor. The chicken satay was terrible! Hot and fresh as well but the chicken is like rubber! Lots of fat and just the texture was so processed. Luckily my dog liked it Edit: I brought it up one star because I ended up cooking some more onions and veggies + egg to eat with the leftover fried rice! I am a picky eater when it comes to chicken. One of the few restaurants that use white meat chicken in their dishes is Bangkok Chef The chicken has to be boneless and skinless breast of chicken. I once threw out an entire order of chicken nuggets because one piece had dark meat. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know that dark meat is juicier, blah, blah, blah. No thanks. Their Thai chicken fried rice is Ono yummy. The curries are generous with the ingredients. The spring rolls are crispy crunchy. All dishes are packaged for individual consumption but you are able to upgrade with no rice and your choice of protein on any of their dishes. If you want more family style, get all main dish(example would be all protein without rice). Speaking of which you can option to have Jasmine rice, brown rice or sticky rice. I tried a long bean and it had enough crunch in it still. I'm not a fan of Pad Thai just because I don't like sweet noodles, but ordered some to take home for the mister. I did try them and yes, it was sweet. The noodles were a tad overcooked and having just visited Thailand where their staple is Pad Thai, the noodles are to be a little more al dente. The summer rolls were thick with noodles and freshly made. I was even brought lime wedges upon request. The restaurant was clean on a Sunday afternoon with only one other couple. There's plenty of parking and is easily identifiable being next to Glazers. I've been going to Bangkok Chef Manoa ever since middle school, and I always loved it. I only started to go to this location from last year recently because of convenience, but the taste and quality is the same! Convinced boyfriend to try here, and now we takeout from here atleast 3-4 times a month :) It's good portion, and pretty good thai food for the price. I remember the portion used to be bigger but hey, I can finish the plate now - when I'm hungry. My favorites: - Green curry + sticky rice: Lots of vegetables and perfect w/ sticky rice!! They're known for their curries so this is a must. Please try it with sticky rice atleast once. - Shrimp & Eggplant over noodles: Recently tried, tastes like Pad Ki Mao (not sure if it's the same, since this is the menu name) with shrimp and eggplant, it's perfect! - Deserts: House Delight, or the Mango ice cream on top of sticky rice, is so so good!! The tapiocas here are also very yummy :) I suggest doing takeout from here only if you can eat it soon, because the food always comes out piping hot, which means it's nice and fresh but it won't do well in the container for a long time. The staffs here are also very nice, and they also have eat-in available but with less tables. Even though this location is smaller compared to other locations, I think this is the cleanest one! We have been a regular customer of Bangkok chef while residing in Honolulu for more than a decade ... however we relocated and after several years we return to patronize our fav food ! We visited this location which appeared more a cafe vibes .. unlike the hole in the wall Nuanne or Maono branch! We ordered the chicken lard., ginger chicken n beef ball noodles ! Very disappointing - the beef ball noodles was $14/- but the tiny three pieces of beef , two meat ball cut into halves .... Shocking portion size n taste was average too ! The chicken lard was very common n the ginger chicken had more green beans n ginger slices then the chicken .. taste was ok but portion was not too good for the so after all these years of missing our most delicious Bangkok chef .. this visit was a big disappointment ! A friend took me to Bangkok Chef and it was really good. There was a group of three of us so we sampled four different menu items and they were all great. The parking for this location is shared with Sushi King so it can be tight during the dinner rush. Fortunately, we were picking up just before 5 p.m. so there was no problem with parking. There's also street parking available but that could also be difficult. A very cool bonus is that the take-out food is served in great reusable microwave containers that are pretty durable. Depending on what you get it's either one or two compartments but definitely try to be eco-friendly and wash and reuse them. Be sure to ask for small take out cups and grab some extra Sriracha if you like it spicy. The princess loves spicy food so I scored a lot of sriracha on the food and even took a little extra on the side. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Who would have thought Burmese food was so deliciously exotic!! I've been introduced to some unique flavors this evening. The food was hands off delightful!!! The service was awesome!! I wish I could've got the servers name because she was pleasant one hospitable. Even after we ate and paid our bill, she didn't rush us out like most business would but rather invited us to stay as long as we'd like. I will definitely be referring this place to my friends and workplace. This business definitely needs to remain open. Thank you to the staff and cook!!! Oh, and did I mention, it's BYOB!! I'm so happy that my husband and I decided to come to this restaurant. First thing I noticed was that super clean and brightly lit. The place was very inviting and lots of tables to choose from. To top it off, you'll get the best service ever. They are located on King Street across from Kokua Market and next door to Pucks Alley. There's street parking and a small parking lot that's shared with other restaurants. Since my hubby turned vegetarian, we asked about vegetarian dishes and the waiter mentioned that all dishes can be vegetarian. By adding vegetables and tofu instead of meat or chicken. He was the friendliest and most helpful waiter that I've ever encountered. The Pad Thai was one of the best I've had. There noodles were cooked just right with the right amount of seasoning and it wasn't dry. I'm not a fan of yellow curry but this was really tasty. The cook added eggplant and broccoli along with bamboo shoots and tofu. We also had vegetarian summer rolls, though I wanted the regular shrimp summer roll. Came here for a late lunch on Saturday....it has a parking lot and there is ample street parking along King Street. It wasn't crowded at all but that could be cause we came after lunch and before dinner. We had the red curry with fish and substituted broccoli instead of bell pepper. There was a small charge but they were more than happy to accommodate our request. The kids had the chicken sate and sticky rice. We also got a noodle dish but I'm sorry my gf ordered and I don't remember what it was. The food was good and we have been here before but this review is about the service. There are times when my wife just craves Thai food and one place she likes is Bangkok Chef so we used to drive to the one in Manoa so when they opened this location we we're really happy as it is closer to where we live and they do take out so that's good to when we want to chill out and watch a movie at home and eat. The food is very tasty as they make it fresh so you might have to wait a little bit. You know what they say though.... good things come to those who wait. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. My wife loves their green curry (egg plant, basil, bamboo shoots). You can get it with chicken, pork, tofu, beef, fish, or shrimp. It comes with Jasmine rice or if you want you can substitute for brown or sticky rice for fifty cents more. So far I tried their yellow curry, panang curry and their pad Thai noodles which all of them are awesome. Sometimes the parking can get tight but you can also find street parking plus it will give you some time to walk off all the food you just ate. Did I say that it is also BYOB? This is my favorite location of all of the Bangkok Chef's on island. The staff here are very friendly and they have their process down with conducting transactions during Covid-era. They have a separation between the customer and cashier and pass everything through their credit card trays. The food here is consistently the best quality of the group as well. I typically order chicken larb, one of the curries (they're all good), spring rolls and rad nah eggplant. I've gotten the rad nah eggplant at the other locations and for some reason it's never as good as here. Also their spring rolls are done super good here. Parking isn't bad...you can score 1 of about 5-6 spaces on the street right in front or park in the lot adjacent. It always helps to call ahead when doing take out.
