Simple and easy quick Thai place to grab a bite to eat. If your in the downtown area go and give this place a try! Cost of my plate was $13.

    3 choices with noodles.

We got the panang curry with tofu and the pad prik gang with pork. Protein and veggie amounts were good in both. I got spice level on the pad prik as hot and it did not disappoint - I was pretty sweaty by the end of it. The dishes don't come with rice so we added on side orders and the jasmine rice was perfect. I was happy with the portion sizes of everything for the price.

My partner fell in LOVE with this place so we stopped sampling what's around and kept returning here. You cannot beat the space. This is the old Garlic Ninikuya location, the converted house on Waialae across from Times and Longs, that has the tree planted in the middle of the house. Seating is outside or inside, but we prefer outside. It gives oasis, even though you're right on a busy street, you feel like you've been transported someplace exotic as the tree and plants are accented with an. eclectic East Asian decor. The food is generous, although some of the plating can read pedestrian. We always get the Panang curry and try a different curry or dish along with it. The pricing is a dollar or two under most of the Thai restaurants around. Have I had better Thai food? Sure. But for an overall experience I so much prefer the serene setting here, as well as hearty portions, kind service, BYOB option, and supporting an independently run Kaimuki eatery. The food is good, I'd give it a 4. The atmosphere is a 5. Definitely do dine in. Fun as a pair or with a group.

Enter Thai Issan. Bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous portions keep them coming back. They are creatures of habit too. Dad usually gets the Tom Yum Fried Rice, while Mom gets the Pad Ki Mao. We came for Father's Day, so we stepped it up and ordered a whole fish to celebrate. Everything was delicious, but seeing my parents genuinely enjoy going out for a meal made it even better. Good times, great food, and lovely memories. Sometimes the best testimonial is simply knowing your parents want to go back.

Even with the afternoon sun shining through the covered windows, it was still cool and comfortable. The Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with Chicken was very good. Soft, wide chow funn noodles with fresh vegetables and strips of chicken. Seasoned and prepared very well. Came to the table piping hot and fragrant, which I always enjoy so you can slowly eat it and appreciate the aroma and many flavors and textures. The Eggplant with Tofu was delicious! I could smell the fish sauce among a plethora of other aromas when it arrived at the table, but the fish sauce was not strong and added a nice savory and umami flavor to balance the sweet. I loved the basil's brightness and herbaceousness it adds to this dish - just wish it had more! Overall, a nice meal. Food was flavorful and prepared well. Service was good and friendly. I might come back to try more, but also curious how different it is at the original Thai Issan Cuisine.

If you're looking for authentic Lao food, this place definitely delivers. We ordered the Soop Noor Mai (bamboo shoot salad), Lao-style Som Tum, Beef Red Curry with jasmine rice, and Seen Haeng (beef jerky). The standout dish for me was the Soop Noor Mai. It was unlike anything I've had before, with an earthy, herbaceous flavor and plenty of texture from the shredded bamboo shoots, toasted rice powder, fresh herbs, and greens. Every bite had something different going on, making it both interesting and deeply satisfying. The Lao-style papaya salad was fresh, vibrant, and packed with bold flavors. The beef red curry was rich, creamy, and fragrant with tender beef that paired perfectly with the jasmine rice. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Seen Haeng. While the flavor was good, the beef was cooked a little too long and ended up drier than I prefer. I personally like Lao beef jerky with a bit more tenderness and chew. Everything else was excellent, and the relaxing garden setting made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Lao cuisine in Honolulu, Olay's is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

We opted for family style since we wanted to have different things and went for: -Pad see iew with tofu (very flavorful but portion was a bit on the smaller side... I thought they gave more before..) -Papaya salad (crunchy, fresh, and tart) -Sticky rice -Yellow Curry with chicken (delicious & coconut didn't overpower) -House fried chicken (crispy, juicy... and most pieces were boneless). We warmed up a little with the medium spice level papaya salad...and they don't mess around with their spices here. Thai spice is way more of an intense, painful heat than Korean chili peppers (in my opinion!). This dish even made my spice tolerant friend sweat a little but couldn't stop eating because everything was packed with flavor. Service was fast - I would definitely come back here (and maybe bring a jacket). At least I know the AC works here!

I was honestly surprised when they took us back there to our seats because I didn't realize the space was that big. I ordered the beef pad see ew, and I'll be honest, I was a little sad when it came out because the portion felt pretty small for $18. The other dishes seemed like they were a lot larger. I also split the crab omelet, which was good! I tried the Evil Curry too. It wasn't extremely spicy, but it definitely had enough of a kick that I don't think I could eat the whole thing in one sitting. They also have free karaoke in the main room for anyone interested, which is a fun addition! Overall, I gave this place a 4 because the people were nice, and I liked that you could choose between the cute garden patio or the karaoke area. The food was decent. Nothing amazing for me, but still good overall. I will say, if you're specifically looking for pad see ew, my favorite is still King of Thai Boat Noodles!

If you decide to dine in, the ambiance is super cute with both indoor and outdoor seating. Last time I was there, they were expanding the outdoor seating. They also have a bar with bar seating inside. Their Pad Thai is perfect! Nice and moist without being soggy and definitely not dry. I like to request a side of yellow curry, which they usually accommodate because I like to dip my noodles in it. Service is always quick and simple.
