Spectacular Korean Facial!! Chloe, the aesthetician (she's been doing facials forever) gave me the most amazing facial. Of course she also uses the world's best skincare products, which are Korean. I made my first - and last - trip to Banana Nails shortly after the salon reopened from COVID closure. I asked for a UV gel manicure and a pedicure. The gel was applied in a very sloppy manner. The guy just patched up the mistakes he made and kept going. He ignored what shape/length I asked for so they looked horrible to me. AND they started popping off two days later! I ended up just taking them all off, which was easy because they were done so poorly. Giant waste of $70. The pedicure was fine EXCEPT they sat someone right next to me - a BIG no-no in salons at this time! When I went to pay, their machine wouldn't accept my card for some reason. I was looked at like a thief, and I ended up leaving the shop with wet toes, leaving my shoes as a sign of goodwill, and driving across the street to the ATM machine, where my card worked perfectly. However, my manicure was not. The woman was very nice, however they did not come out great and it's been one day and they already chipped! I have been going to Banana nails for quite some time now. I asked for a gel color change for my toes because the color was fading. Everything was fine until the water went on for a pedicure. I said kindly "Im sorry I just wanted the color change." The lady doing my toes shut the water off and said "oh okay." Then the manager and her started saying things in Chinese. (which is always rude). But, I knew it was about me telling her I just wanted the color change. The manager comes up to me and says "we don't do that." I'm like "I'm sorry you didn't tell me that prior. And she was looking at me to basically say "Okay do my pedicure." Which I did NOT because I had a dinner party to go to. So, the manager just looked at me in a very annoyed way. I went to pay and the girl who did my toes said $25. I said "okay great." Then the manager comes up to her and tells her something. And the girl said "sorry the manager said $35." I was shocked. I am a loyal customer. I have spent so much money there. I paid $40 with the tax and because I am a nice person, I tipped the lady $5 cash for her service because it wasn't her fault. And for the manager to treat me that way. Charge me $10 more??? How unprofessional. They have lost me as a customer. I will never step foot in there again. And I'll make sure to tell others about this. I'm very upset and hurt to be treated this way!!! This place used to be phenomenal but it changed ownership a few months ago and is absolutely terrible. If you don't have an appointment, don't bother going. Once you do go, don't expect any of the colors to be available. On top of there not even being a method to see the gel options, they have virtually no colors. Previously there were tons of OPI options but I guess they won't be using OPI going forward. They quality of service is beyond atrocious. Gel doesn't even last a week. I had to remove my own gel polish because after it soaked for 20 minutes it was apparent there was no intention of removing it for another 30 minutes - the girl doing my nails left mid treatment because she was "off the clock" and no one else was available. Ok so I've been here a handful of times and as of yesterday, I can confidently say they've earned all 5 stars. First, before I tell you all the good things, I need to disagree with the bad. I've yet to have someone make me bleed. However with that being said, every nail salon has good and bad manicurists. My rule of thumb is to try to get whoever is sitting in the first few chairs; they are sure to be the best. Also, the owner is not mean or intimidating at all. He's kind to his employees and friendly with customers. He's just quiet and reserved most of time time. About the time they take, it says on the signs how long the service will take. So if you want them to be quick, literally get the "Quick Pedicure". Second, here's what I love: 1. Free lattes! Who doesn't love a free latte? They're actually really good too. Just be sure to ask because they don't offer them, and don't feel bad or awkward about asking. 2. They take their time! I love this about Banana Nails. When I go to get my nails done, I want to feel pampered, and here I definitely do. 3. They have some really good manicurists. So far Mary is the best. Call and make an appointment with her. 4. They are friendly and accommodating. Twice when I've been there I had to bring my infant daughter who needed to be changed both times I went. This place is a joke! I went in for a pedicure and manicure. First i got my mani by a girl who was the fastest nail tech I've come across. It's as if she was on a timer. Mind you it was 12 bucks, for like 10mns AND she cut me. Next came pedicure which I was whisked off to be worked on by another girl. Horrible pedicure I could've done my feet at home. 26 for a regular pedicure plus 8 for callus remover. So I paid a whopping 48 to get lousy service. So yeah not going back. Love this nail salon. The service is always friend and the owners Paul and Sarah, really get to know you. I've never had a bad manicure or pedicure. They are really well priced as well--a quick pedicure is 19, simple 21, and full pedicure is 25. They have higher priced pedis, as well. They also just recently added CND regular polishes (they currently only had them--and OPI and Essie--for shellac) to their polishes--love that stuff, it lasts forever! I use to be a fan of this nail salon. It's local to my house and is clean and modern. However within the last year, I feel like it has really gone down hill as far as customer service. The place is still nice and clean and the owners are always friendly (and why I even gave 2 stars) but the other staff is not. The staff rush through doing your nails and at times are rough. I went in recently at 6:30 (they close at 7) and asked for a manicure. The owners were not there and the staff seemed annoyed by my request so I said okay I will try another salon and the woman working the desk said "okay" and smiled......There are better nail salons in the area as far as service goes. I want to feel relaxed and pampered when I go, not rushed and like I am a nuisance. Sorry Banana based on my last few experiences, I won't be returning back now. read more

I've been coming here since they opened! I love this place, it's the only place in Norwalk that has great inexpensive prices and a classy atmosphere. They do great pedicures and I like that they take their time. I sometimes think that they rush their manicures a bit. I love that they used to do the paraffin and the two minute back massage but now I don't think they do that anymore. I sat down and the girl brought out the stuff for the pedicure. I asked for a different pedicure, that was more expensive, and the girl goes "no just do this one, I already got the stuff out". I walked in and was helped immediately. The space itself is nice - they even have a cafe where you can order coffee and lattes. The manicure ($10) includes a hand parrafin wax and they rub your back while it's drying. I also got my eyebrows waxed - done quickly, professionally and she had adequate knowledge of shaping. Finally, and here's the kicker, I got a 30 minutes hot stone massage for only $30. The 60 minutes is only $45! The room was clean and felt just like a high end spa. They played relaxing music and the massage was wonderful. The hot stones were the icing on the cake. Went here to get my nails done terrible experience!! First you walk in free coffee signs everywhere for cappuccino, lattes etc. I ask can I have a latte? They say maybe later too busy! Then get my nails done woman doing my nails used tools that were not sterilized. Then they go to charge me and instead of charging $12 for manicure they charge me $29. Then the nail lady gives me the wrong amount of money back two times and was hoping I wouldn't notice. Then finally the third time i think they gave me the right amount of money back but was so confusing not even sure! then she spoke about me in Spanish like I did something wrong ? Then I'm getting Essie manicure and used the longer lasting polish line. Nail woman tries to put the cheaper top coat on my nails even though she's supposed to use a special kind on the Essie nail top coat. She said they do the same thing but they don't. Tried to be rude again! Go to dry my nails no massage where other girls getting massage by nail girl. Again I'm not the one who double charged me ? Tried to rip me off? This place is a scam !!! I still really love this place. My ONLY complaint is that they can sometimes take super long for even the simplest services. I have only gotten manicures and pedicures. Once I went for both and was at the salon for over 2 hours! I will definitely still go, but just make sure you have some time. ***EDIT*** since making my original post over 2 years ago, banana nails has drastically improved and I will not go anywhere else for my nails. The place itself was fine - clean, calm ambiance, nice massage chairs for pedicures... The woman who did my nails needs to be fired and/or trained a lot more.* She was making faces the whole time, like she didn't know what she was doing. My pedicure and manicure were actually painful because of the way she pushed and scraped at my feet and hands. When clipping my cuticles she jabbed my nail bed so deep it bled. This has happened to me before, but this time it wouldn't stop bleeding (!), and it was painful (duh). I told her she didn't have to finish my manicure because there was blood everywhere and at that point I didn't want my nails painted, but listen to this: she yelled at me and told me that she already started doing my nails so she had to finish. She kept saying "it's fine, it's fine" and putting random liquids on my finger to try and stop the bleeding (which made it hurt more). Then she aggressively painted my nails and when I didn't tip her she looked at me like she would kill me so I gave her a few dollars. I was with my little sister, treating her to a manicure (her experience was better than mine), and so I didn't want to make a scene. The people who looked like they were the owners kept looking at me and smiling, even while the bloody nail stuff was happening and I was trying to get the hell out of there. In other words, they didn't see anything wrong the fact that I was in pain and bleeding all over their manicure table. *My friend went here and said it was fine, my Mom said the same thing. Bad experience. It was empty when I walked in and about 3 girls working. They were mad I didn't have an appt, but took me anyway. I was super rushed and she a horrible job. I got gel and there were spots of polish on my fingers and I had to file some tips when I got home. Plus, it started getting busy and people were walking in and they were turning everyone down stating that they were "too busy" when there were only a few customers. I waited until I'd been here a few times before I wrote this. I've had my nails done both regular manicure and shellac, I've had 3 pedicures and 1 facial. The manicures have been for the most part fine - only once was it actually bad, and only one time was it really outstanding. They have only one or two girls who actually know what they are doing and there is at least 1 who should not be allowed to go near sharp implements! ( I believe Angela F. may have experienced her.) My most recent pedicure was a awful. The girl was going at my feet so violently with the callus remover I thought she was going to hit bone. I asked her 2 times to stop and when she didn't I finally pulled my feet away. This is poor training and the It's fine, it's ok is a sign that she was afraid for the owner to see that she wasn't doing a good job. I do NOT like the male owner - he is completely unfriendly and very intimidating to his employees. And even though this place is conveniently located and clean I've decided to forgo ever going here again - I think of mani/pedi as a way to relax - but not in this place. read more

Went here for a UV gel fill in and of the nails cracked within 4 days. The place is clean, but definitely doesn't compensate for poor work. I overlooked the sloppy fill in (gel in the corners of my nail, some cuticles not pushed back) but broken nails after 4 days and no strenuous cleaning or anything is just not my cup of tea. They may do better work on regular manicures but definitely not for fill ins. This place is no frills. Lots of other places in the area with more quality work. I wont be back. read more

Great ambiance and customer service! The prices fair the same as other local salons, but you get so much more at Banana Nails! The decor, service, color selection and cleanliness is so much better by far! Parking can be a pain, since this spot is no longer the secret, hidden in the corner of the shopping center. I came in first thing on a Saturday morning, and the traffic was already hopping! I've overheard other customers coming in by appointment! As far as pedicures, they have a list from basic starting at $19, Regular for $25 that includes a 10 min massage on calves....so good. They also give you a complimentary iced coffee/latte/expresso (whatever you choose). On top of it all, they have a reward card that starts off with a $2.00 balance every time you show the card they add money and you get that back later.
