Seems to be out of business or moved somewhere. Does anyone know what happened to Bam's restaurant?

I used to stop in during COVID. They were one of the breakfast places open at that time. At that time his food was great but service was really slow. I have not been back in a while, and the owner was a little wacky and was in the middle of a divorce. He had troubles finding help. Sadly I drove past this morning and the weeds are high outside and it appears that it's permanently closed. I'm seeing lots of restaurants close In the area. read more

What a great place! I stopped in to grab an egg and cheese sandwich. First timer! I'm not from the area. My waitress was fabulous! So funny and engaging. This place is extremely cute inside. Experienced Bam's on a Friday night. They had a very good Jazz band. The food was typical bar fare.

I have been here several times now have not been disappointed yet. One of the best sandwiches I feel is the bacon grilled cheese sandwich. I also enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak. The pricing is really reasonable for what you get. read more

Ordered through doordash. Placed an order at 9:30 am arrived hot at 12:15. Ordered it yesterday too and they canceled it because "they are closing". Talked to dasher and he said he waited 10 more mins outside and the guy was rude to him too! Ordered chicken cordon bleu panini and cuban panini and received 2 cordon bleu panini instead. Just want to get a holler out to Bam's Restaurant! Bam's is a treasure to be discovered tucked away in Carmel Ny. Mike the owner makes you feel like family on your first visit. I love the fun vintage atmosphere and great conversation even amongst the customers. Bam's serves up Corn Fritters to die for! Just like my Granny used to cook up on Sunday mornings and don't even get me started on their Cuban Panini. Oh So Good. I was there too early on a friday to take part in their BBQ but what I smelt cooking from that kitchen was telling me to get back there soon. The food is always cooked to order. Bam's burgers are hand pressed patties and super juicy. The fries are shoestring style and made fresh in house. None of that crappy frozen stuff. most places serve. Occasionally I get his ribs which are Friday only and have to be ordered in advance. There is nothing even close to the quality of those ribs. They also come with homemade cornbread and mac and cheese. Give Bams a try. He makes a great breakfast as well. A true gem read more

I don't know who is providing these 5 start reviews, must be his friends. This place is a bad greasy spoon. 4 things turned me off immediately. Here they are: 1. "Bam" the owner/cook, I presume, was in a dirty disgusting stained t shirt he's probably had since highschool, and dirty disgusting pants while cooking. Gross. Wear an apron, get a clean food service uniform shirt. The white ones with the snaps up the front? I was in this business. A uniform service doesn't cost that much, come'on. 2. The food was like a bad backyard bar b que. Burgers served on store bought potatoe buns. WTF? If you are going to be a "burger place", your burgers better kick ass.... They don't. 3. Mostly all the tables are high tops... not for me sorry, I hate that. 4. And the number one deal breaker? Cash only.... GTFOH. I hate that. Even if I could get over 2,3, and 4. I genuinely don't understand the negative reviews below and I suspect that some of them are posted by less-than-honest individuals. I've been frequenting Bam's for seven months now (my boyfriend, even longer) and we love it. The food is always cooked fresh, the owner is more than hygienic, and there's never an undue delay - just the reasonable amount of time you'd expect for food cooked to order. Comfort food at its finest! Breakfast all day long as well as fresh coffee. The Bam Burgers are amazing as well as buffalo wings. I have been here more than half a dozen times and never been disappointed. Food is always fresh the owner always has a smile on his face and people leave satisfied. Finally got to try this place by our house. We've tried two other times both on Sunday morning so I would assume they aren't open sundays? So my first impression after the renovation is that it's very cute. Little mom and pop breakfast spot vibe. You get your own coffee which is not bad, tastes fresh, not burnt. Getting a non diary creamer anywhere is a long shot lol but who knows maybe one day haha. Taking a seat I wasn't sure if there was a server or you go up to the breakfast bar and order. We waited and the man in the kitchen came to take our order, I believe he is the man of the show. I soon realized he was doing it all but also keeping up with it. The food actually came out in great time. It's been forever since I've had the perfect French toast, or Home fries I might add. The food is good. The problem is you can't get it even when the place is empty. We went with a group of 20 that had been planned with the restaurant to be coming in at 8:45. We were the only customers in the place. We waited 20 minutes for them to take an order. It took ONE HOUR to get food at 10:20. Food came out one plate at a time. If it wasn't for self service coffee we wouldn't have had a thing the whole time. This was the second and last time our group will go back. The service was actually faster than the last time. Should've known what I was getting into when I called to place an order for pickup. I asked if the breakfast burrito could be made on an whole wheat wrap, and instead of a simple no they responded obnoxiously saying they don't have them because "nobody orders them". When I went in to pickup the food there were a couple of people hanging out inside eating, and only one person working (which I assume is the Owner, based on Yelp pics). No mask - not even pretending to have one on around his chin or neck or anything, no gloves, nothing. Watched him handle food, take a customers card, and go back to preparing food without washing his hands. The place felt kind of dirty, even for pre-covid standards. The food is affordable for what it is - my breakfast burrito came out to 6.50 all in. Pretty good size with a side of salsa and sour cream. That being said when I finally got home to eat the order, I found a sharp piece of plastic in the salsa (looked like it was from a plastic container) and ended up throwing the rest of the food out. I've been registered with Yelp for a few years now but never felt the need to write a review but my experience with Bam's has changed this. One reviewer mentions that the owner has been having a really hard time because of covid, which normally I would completely sympathize with. It is apparent however, that the owner is not only negligent but also rude. Maybe if he cared a bit more he wouldn't be hurting so bad? I won't be back to find out. read more

Arrived in a group of 9 for a mini birthday celebration. Owner greeted us with delicious French toast bites on the house and he was very pleasant. Chilli Burger was raw inside Chili fries were good and French Toast bites were good. Service was horrible. Only one guy working everything took a long time for food never checked if we were ok and wanted something else. This place would be good as a bikers dive or late night hang out for teens to listen to up and coming bands. I liked the BBQ place that was in this building before this place. The owner is just incredibly rude! Doesn't greet you. Doesn't take your order, it was just very confusing. When I asked him if I needed to go to the counter to order he got all angry and said 'you dont see me cleaning this table?'. Ummm yes but what I also see is being ignored and not acknowledged so I figure maybe I'm supposed to order at the counter. He then went on to complain that he had to clean this table vigorously because a group of ladies were coming in and he mimicked them nastily. Dude seriously, you're lucky to have them coming in at all judging by your attitude I dont know, he just acted like he was doing you a favor by just allowing you to walk in there. Worst. Place. Ever. Don't come here unless you want to leave feeling dirty and smelling greasy. The owner, and seemingly the only employee, is rude and dirty. He does not speak to anyone unless they are his friend. He lounged out on the bar chairs in the middle of the day to watch TV. Though an unfortunate location in Carmel, but the space could be nice for outdoor events and night events. However, current establishment is quite dirty and sticky and not conducive to these events. Didn't even have the food, just the restaurant as a whole was revolting. Bakery counter (which sat on the sticky bar counter) was stale and under stocked. We've been wanting to try this place for a while-- so glad we finally did! I had the Ahi Tuna Burger with chipotle mayo and my husband had a Bam Burger with fries and chicken wings. I wish I could give zero stars to this place. Walked in the owner didn't even greet us in his empty restaurant...just stared at us. The owner is the chef as well was very unfriendly. We brought our baby with us he handed us a dirty booster chair that was probably his kids like 40-50 years ago. When our food came he slammed our dishes on the table and walked away. Zero conversation zero worry or care how we like the food which was greasy and inedible. I don't know how you screw up bacon and pancakes but they were not good. My husband got a burger and fries which he couldn't even eat because of the grease pouring off of the food. This spot is the best for breakfast and gluten free food. The owner Mike has been having a really hard time. This COVID-19 killed his business all the morning commutes stopped. He recreated his menu and started getting a nice crowd back only to be hit by the storm. No electricity for four days. What a nightmare. Many of the small businesses in town suffered the same. The owner is an American just attempting to live the dream of owning your own. My point food is always fresh and good. Can we just encourage the small business to keep the dream alive. read more

Just stopped by because I saw the gluten free reviews and had to try it out! This did not disappoint. The owner showed me the knife he uses for only gluten free stuff and ensured me he was even washing it for extra caution. I felt safe eating here with a bad gluten intolerance. Really like the breakfast here-Great gluten-free pancakes and gluten free rolls for your breakfast sandwiches. Everything is made fresh and with love (I can say that because I've had a lot of gluten-free pancakes and they usually taste like sawdust but not here). Just reads the other negative reviews. I can confirm that they are not exaggerations. Not sure how this place stays in business but it's not b/c of the food which was mediocre at best. I've always wanted to try the place out. I showed up at 1:30 today with my two sons to have eggs and pancakes. The place is supposed to be open until 3 and the open sign was lit. As we pulled up an irritated man poked his head out the door and shouted "we're closed!" Disappointed we pulled over to look up another place on the web and the churl of a man came back out. "You're blocking my driveway!" I turned the car around and pulled up to the front fully intending to give the dude a piece of my mind about his poor business etiquette, but he scurried back into his restaurant. When I look up from my phone there is a man standing at my passenger side window, staring at me. Nervously, I cracked my window to find out what this man wanted. He told me he was the owner and wanted to know what I was doing there. I've never met a ruder person in my life. He asked me if i knew how to read and that the sign said for customers only. We were very impressed with Bam's. The cheeseburger was arguably the best in Putnam County and the homemade corn muffin was excellent too. The Cuban sandwich was very tasty and the prices were quite reasonable. The French fries were a bit undercooked but we will try Bam's again, I'm sure. This is a great find.
