I was excited to see the website menu price for a large broth as $6. When ordering in the store, the price came to $10. They updated their system to reflect the correct price, but the website was not accurate. The broth price was also only listed on the website menu. The manager was not willing to give me the website menu price after asking several times. I told him that if a company has their name on something, they should honor it. To which he replied, it is not my company. It is my opinion that you represent the company you work for, and it is unfortunate that some people do not see it that way. You cannot beat the vermicelli Bbq pork and egg roll bowl. All those fresh flavors in your mouth at once is decadent. If you order the Vietnamese egg rolls ask for additional lettuce and their pickled veggies and wrap that egg roll in them. Omg good! Another great disappointment. Gave this place another try and well. Let's say somethings never change. My pho came out luke warm, I get my beef on side and the broth would barely cook it. Again long wait for only 3 tables in the place. Dont think it would be too much to ask for a pho place to serve hot pho. So nice to have to take your food home and heat it up to eat it. This place was great at first. We use to go here all the time. Then I was served the Steak special with porcelain glass hidden inside which cut my mouth and gums! Yes, I said GLASS!! As a regular customer, you would think they would have at least apologized and taken better care of the situation. It was if it never happened. The place also smells like smoke 24/7 due to being right next to a smoke shop plus poor ventilation. Very hot in the summer! horrible customer service. I call to get an order ahead of time. they let me know how long to wait. I arrive even ten minutes after the appointed time and my order isn't ready. it takes another 20 minutes for my food to be ready to an empty restaurant. I called at 11 am for my pickup so the restaurant just opened. then I ordered two pho deluxe with extra meat plus fresh spring rolls. it costs me almost $50.00. I expected the price. i wish I could post the pictures of my pho deluxe with extra meat. there was hardly any meat with some even missing like the meatballs and tendons and the meat I ordered extra of was five slices of beef in total!!!! I thought after a while they improved on their service but no. and this isnt one time deal but multiple times. I've stayed away for a while but my favorite pho place (Hong Yen) was closed for the day and I wanted some so I pho and thought that Bambu would have changed after months of staying away. no, nothing has changed. still horrible customer service and they rob you of food you ordered with no explanation. read more

My second time here. Takeout on my first time and dine in for my second. For take out, I had Pho Dac Biet I mentioned to the waitress that I'm staying at the hotel and that I don't have a bowel to eat my pho so she gave me an empty styrofoam soup cup with my order. When I got back to my hotel, I was not given any utensils or any condiments for my pho! I was so disappointed. I need my hoisin sauce and sriracha. Luckily I always travel with my own personal reusable chopsticks. The broth tasted good but once I added the noodles and the herbs and bean sprouts, my pho was tasteless. Today I came back to give them another chance. I ordered their Spicy Beef Noodle... (Bun Bo Hue). I can't believe they charged for a ham hock and congealed pig's blood to be added to the BBH. A typical BBH is topped with slices of brisket, pieces of ham hocks, and cubes of congealed pig's blood. What I got does not taste anything like the BBH I'm used to. The thin brisket I got was mostly inedible fats and the pig's blood should have been cubed size block but mine seems to be cut very small. When my food came out, the first thing I noticed was that instead of cabbage, they give you sliced lettuce instead. The broth was bland. I had to add fish sauce , shrimp paste ( you have to request it) lots of Sriracha and sate sauce. My overpriced BBH was a total disappointment. read more

Vietnamese food is one of my favorites, unfortunately we will not be stopping at this location again. The staff was very friendly and polite however we all had stomach/ bathroom issues. We all had different dishes but shared the shrimp appetizer so I don't know what caused the bathroom issues. The sauce for my vermicelli bowl was good however the meat was a bit tuff and over cooked. The quantity wasn't very much either. The shrimp however were pretty tasty and so was the Thai tea. read more

Bambu is a cool lil restaurant that offers authentic Vietnamese soups, rice dishes, drinks, and so on. For Springfield Mo Vietnamese food, this place is a 5 star. If you're used to coastal Viet restaurants however, it might only be a 3.5 or 4 star. We went tonight... by 'we' I mean my Viet boyfriend Anthony H, and 3 of my nieces/nephews. We had... combination fried rice which was yummy, bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) which was yummy and pretty spicy!, and a seafood Pho which was okay. We tried their summer rolls and eggrolls and while I preferred the fresh healthy taste of the summer rolls, the kids didn't like the mint in them and preferred the eggrolls. Their boba tea was... kinda a frozen ice thing with boba, not at all like regular boba tea but still pretty tastey! We got the green tea and liked it. The best part of the restaurant for me was the decor and food, the best part of the restaurant for the kids was the eggrolls and the Wii Monday night that we happened to walk into. There were 2 boys who were engaging the kids and helping them learn the Wii. Nintendo should hire these boys cause they promoted Wii so well. haha Anyway, all the kids got to play rock band, and then some Wii sports games. Apparently, Wed night is karaoke night! Bambu happened to be open on Labor Day and our usual pho spot was closed, so we decided to drop by. We had a group of people, so we already expected to have to wait a while for our food. There were 10 of us, two of them being toddlers. We got there and were seated at around 11:30 AM. There was a group before us that ordered first. We knew on our part that our food was going to come after them, while incorporating more time for the preparation of our food as well. We were okay with that, since we wanted to try Bambu and their pho with our family. All went well until 20, 30, 40, 50 minutes passed. Obviously with the long wait, we were upset and hungry. Keep in mind that the other group and others who came in after us received their pho and rice dishes already. In fact, the group that came in already left before all of us received our food. When they DID bring us our pho, they only brought 3 of them for our 8 orders, since the two toddlers were sharing a dish from their parents. We waited an additional time for everyone to receive their food. It does not take 50-60 minutes to assemble all of these dishes if their pho broth is ready to serve. I have 4 years of waiting experience. I understand the stress of being both busy and understaffed. I hate to be the "Karen" in this situation, but the way the waiters responded with our simple questions of, "when is the rest of the food going to come out?" and, "how much longer will we have to wait?" made us shocked. Keep in mind, we have already waited almost an HOUR for our food to come out. One said, "I don't know, there's nothing I can do," and the other said, "why, are you in a rush?" What the heck??? Never in my life have I responded to a group of customers with such hostility before... EVER! The audacity! We were trying our best to be polite and not raise our voices at the busy waiters, but this was appalling. Even after those confrontations, we didn't even have the chance to get angry because of how SHOCKED we were at their responses! Once we FINALLY got all our dishes, the waiter said it took so long because they ran out of pho. First off, if you ALREADY knew that there was not enough soup after serving the first group, you should have communicated that with us that our wait time would have been longer than expected. They had an hour to communicate that with us, but they decided to tell us once we got all our food. Not even a single apology throughout the whole confrontation... Wow. They finally communicated that they had to, "boil more water" for us. Okay, wish that they told us that during the hour we waited? We would have been understanding if they were apologetic and communicative since it's Labor Day and whatnot, but they weren't. Even if you're upset or stressed, you should NEVER be rude or hostile towards paying customers... I'm truly disgusted both as a customer AND as an experienced waitress. And secondly, the pho was the worst I've ever had; obviously so because pho broth is supposed to be boiled for 12 hours like they've advertised on their menu, but they just "boiled more water" for us. Being Southeast Asian myself, I've grown up eating pho all my life and was ultimately disappointed with both their service and pho broth. I would have been okay with the mediocre pho if the wait staff weren't so rude, but here we are. Again, I want to emphasize that me and our party did not once intend to be rude or demanding and this was how we were treated... Thank goodness my auntie and in-laws were there with us at that moment, because I would have given them a piece of my mind. Instead, I sat there silently to see how they were going to react, and they did very poorly. First impressions matter greatly, and with that being said, I will never set foot back into Bambu. Like I've stated before, even with the bad food, I would have been alright IF the wait staff weren't so unprofessional and rude; but BOTH the food and service were horrible. DO NOT waste your time or money here and support other small businesses that deserve it. Hong Yen is just 4-5 minutes away and their service and food are always top tier and DEFINITELY worth your penny compared to Bambu. read more

Bambu is one of my favorite restaurants in the area and I've been coming here since I was very young. I will admit, the atmosphere and service has declined a bit over the years, but I've never had any issues with receiving my food correctly and quickly or with unfriendly staff. Everyone is always happy to serve you and your food arrives quickly. I've tried many things over the years, my favorites are the fried egg rolls, fresh spring rolls, Deluxe Pho (P1) and Vermicelli salad (V1). The spring rolls are the best I've ever had and the peanut sauce is amazing and they give you a lot of for them! The fish sauce with the egg rolls is also very good, not too fishy and they're perfectly crisp and delicious. The Pho is huge and very good and has a good amount of meat, the broth is rich and they have fish sauce, hoisin, and sriracha at the table to add to it as well as providing you with bean sprouts, cilantro, and lime to top. The vermicelli salad is very fresh, I usually replace the pork with an extra egg roll. The sauce is the same as with the egg rolls. It is a very fresh and filling dish. This is a great local restaurant that could definitely use some more love from the community! read more

A coworker was going to order the spring rolls with peanut sauce for dinner and asked if I would like an order. As I've never eaten there, I said yes, that sounds good. When I started to eat my roll, about halfway into it, I noticed about a 2-3 inch black hair in my roll. Yuck! It completely turned my stomach. This shouldn't have to be said, but when you're cooking or preparing food, be sure to wear some kind of hair restraint. A hair net, a hat. Something. This was not a good 1st impression. Been to Bambu first time 8 years ago and this place was packed! Came back and this place looks like the same(decor) but a lot older with the smell of smoke add on. The service was mediocre, the server spilled my pho soup on the table and didn't even bother to clean it up. When I asked for napkins to clean it up, the other server made a comment that we spilled the soup because it was so good?? Doesn't really make sense. I have Bambu to thank for my boyfriend and I's new addiction to pho. How we found ourselves here: we read about a band we love being obsessed with pho, asked "But what is pho like?", threw a dart via good ol' Google, and came to Bambu for dinner. The second we sat down and looked at the menu, we knew we had come to the right place. That being said, we knew we wanted pho, so that's what we ordered. For anyone not familiar, pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup dish that typically comes in a hearty broth and is buffered with things like scallions, sprouts, meats, and more. My choice from their selection was pho tai bo vien, which came with thin rare beef and meatballs, which was about $8. It took me a second to get used to it, but I loved it instantly. The broth was complex and rich, the noodles were perfect and clear, and the meatballs and beef were mouth wateringly good. I added a few splashes of Sriracha and a handful of sprouts to mine and was good to go. My boyfriend dumped a bucket of Sriracha to his and struggled a little, so a few squirts will probably do you over. Our waitress was great, the food was fast, the aesthetic was dim and intimate, and the other tables were clearly regulars, American/Vietnamese/Vietnamese-American alike. I say that a lot about the places I review, but sometimes you can just tell it's got a consistent customer base, and I trust that. The only real reason I gave Bambu four stars is because it was my first time experiencing Vietnamese food - but it really was fantastic. I have 15+ check-ins at Bambu on my Yelp! application. I've lived in Springfield for about 6 months... that should give you an idea of how much I enjoy this place. Most weeks I'm there once a week. The food here is fresh, authentic, and delicious! The service is always very polite and prompt. My standards are the fresh spring rolls (the most amazing appetizer in Springfield) and the Pho (a broth soup available with a variety of meats and rice noodles with accompaniments on the side). Add some of the sprouts, jalapeno, fresh herbs, and some hoisin and/or sehracha sauce and you're good to go! The vermicelli bowls are a very excellent dish as well (occasionally I get one to mix-it up a bit). Boba teas are a delectable and refreshing drink with tapioca pearls. There's been nothing I've ordered that wasn't delicious. It's my hands-down favorite place to eat in Springfield. If you've never had Vietnamese food, don't be afraid... I took one of my country co-workers who'd never normally go to a place like that and he loved it. It's really simple food done really well with fresh ingredients. And to help out from a couple of previous reviews: There sizes are very big. If you want something smaller order the P2 (beef) or the P7 (chicken) in the kids size... I order that size sometimes depending on my appetite. Also, since I was born, raised and lived 25 years in southern California (a hotbed of Asian food), this place is even hot to those of us from California who don't come to the mid-west and anywhere that's not California and pretend that everything is so small town and not authentic... whatever, this place is off the chain. Quit trying to big time us in the mid-west just because you choose to live in an overpopulated area and drive your 12 miles to work in a 2-hour commute.
