As you walk in the door, you are greeted with very nice decor. You can tell this place has put some money into decorating this place! (However, the fact that this place is all windows, makes for a chilly breeze that comes through) ***Word to the wise - Dress warm!!!*** I came for lunch with my boyfriend. We sat down and opened up the lunch menu. The prices for lunch were average and there was a decent selection. I ordered the coconut curry chicken, and he ordered the chicken pad Thai. Both fairly standard options. When the food came, I was shocked that the server didn't even give us the right meals when the restaurant wasn't even busy. He gave me the pad Thai and him the chicken, when it should be the opposite. Clearly wasn't paying attention or didn't care. Terrible.... Also, the food came strangely quick. We both had our meals in under 10 minutes. I always find this odd, as freshly cooked food should take a little bit longer to prepare. The chicken had that rubbery feeling that it may not be fresh, and had perhaps come from a bag. I may not be correct but I found it to not have the texture or consistency of fresh chicken. Not to mention, it was a little bit bland. The vegetables that came with the curry were undercooked, and seemed to be cheap options. It would have been nice to see some quality vegetables rather than your standard green pepper and onion... Oh, it also had potatoes. I found this strange for curry. I am a huge lover of pad thai. When I took a bite of my boyfriend's pad thai, I honestly didn't really care for it. It didn't taste authentic at all. It tasted more like an international version rather than the Thai version. Plus, I can guarantee that they use ketchup in their sauce (like many restaurants who cut corners). Lets just say, if you are a pad Thai lover, don't order it here. In an unexpected area of town stands this fusion Chinese, Thai, Sushi restaurant. Portion sizes are decent. Flavours were rich and distinct. During the meal I could tell that the ingredients were very fresh. We shared our different orders, though it wasn't really set up to be that way. Ambiance was lovely and not over done. I have been going here for sushi every few months since they opened a couple years ago. The sushi is amazing. I order spicy crunchy salmon rolls everytime I go there. The pad thai is also amazing. Recently I went there for the weekend lunch brunch for all you can eat for $19. We were thinking of doing our regular rolls but we decided to be adventurous. I tried the "Salmon burger" and it was gross, same with the sushi balls that we ordered which were deep fried rice. I do not recommend deep fried anything for sushi. The waitress didn't charge us when we told her we didn't like it which is great. Overall the service has always been great, try the sushi rolls and pad thai and you will not be disappointed. read more

I had received poor service at Bambu before but my son likes the food so I figured I'd give it another chance. First, we were seated by a less than friendly hostess who bristled when I asked for a booth, though that section of the restaurant was not full. Once seated, the friendly waitress told us there was a very large party in the adjacent area so in order to get our food more quickly we should select from the limited Dim Sum menu. My instincts were to leave since that suggested poor planning or an unexpected situation in the kitchen but my son wanted to stay and I was hungry. After about 15 minutes, I noticed that none of the other tables had food and after about 20 minutes a couple left. I inquired about our meal and was told it would be out shortly. At 30 minutes, I asked the surly hostess to speak to the manager and finally at the 40-minute mark, the few items we ordered arrived. All but one had been per-made, most lukewarm. We ate quickly, asked for the bill and left. I tipped the waitress 15% (less than I normally do) because it appeared that she was doing her best in a bad situation. However, I still wondered why we were gIven the expectation that we would eat faster If we chose wisely. By the time we left, the manager never showed her face at our table when in other restaurants such bad service would have at least warranted an apology, and more likely some kind of compensation. We gave Bambu a second chance and regretted it. Next time, it's back to Chinatown, where a good meal and good service is never hard to find. read more

I went in to order some dim sum for take out, and ended up waiting for almost an hour. I requested to talk to the manager, and he refused to see me, even though he was at the bar serving one person. He made the hostess run back and forth until I just went back, and asked him about my order. He proceeded to threaten to kick me out!! I didn't raise my voice or use course language, and proceeded to say 'you're not my boss'. I have visited this place regularly in the past, and now I feel like huge sucker. I have never written something, good nor bad, about a restaurant before. This experience has upset me to the point that I advocate whole heartedly against you visiting this establishment. read more

I don't know if this place changed ownership recently, but just came back to it after a while for a birthday and the quality has gone down so much. Literally no better, potentially even worse than what you would get out of any take-out chinese or fusion restaurant. Had a seafood chow mein dish and the octopus and shrimp were so rubbery they were almost inedible. Tried some beef and chicken dishes off a friend and they were nothing special. The real crime here are the prices though, way too much for the portion and the quality. Shame because the location and decor is so nice. read more

It was pretty good. We ate veggie spring rolls to start. Plum sauce was great! Spring rolls were cooked well and the filling was good also. The waiter was very polite and courteous . He checked on our table appropriately. Not too little not too much. :) Had the beef terriaky. The portion was smallllllll for 15$ they also used that weird rubbery beef some Chinese food places use. Not my favourite quality. It doesn't come with rice either. Not enough food for 15$. Also had chicken fried rice. Meh. Nothing special I've had better Deserts were pretty good. In conclusion, it was okay. No big deal. Small portions for the price. Quality was "ok". It didn't wow me and Im Not dying to go back there. But it was ok. read more

Where to I begin...? The Thai basil beef is approx two-thirds onions and peppers, the prongs and snow pees cost us $22 and there couldn't have been more than eight shrimp and wilted snow pees. The Chinese mixed greens is essentially bok Choi and very little else. The King oyster mushrooms and greens is again, almost all bok Choi. Overal, everything is way overpriced and the dishes are are small and/or have very little to justify the prices. I will not return. read more

Meh. We came after the main lunchtime, so the restaurant was almost empty. After standing for a few minutes I walked over to the sushi chef, who hadn't looked up, and he went and got the hostess. Service was slow. The menu read like a spring roll and soup came with lunch special noodles, but apparently I read that wrong. Shanghai noodles weren't especially thick (maybe 1/2 the diameter of udon), but they were greasy and slightly undercooked - like they had precooked noodles ready, but hadn't re-warmed them enough. Next time I'd skip it and get fresh rolls or dim sum from the giant Asian grocery in the same parking lot. read more

Another terrific meal at Bambu. Our server was Jackie and she is always amazing and once again exceeded expectations. There were 8 of us including 4 kids. We were there for the all you can eat Sunday dinner and tried so many dishes including sushi, general tao's, crispy beef, pot stickers, etc. All the food was fresh and very tasty. Service was fast. Went to Bambu for the first time and loved it. We were there for lunch on a Saturday and it was a terrific experience. Appetizers (spring rolls and vegetable tempura) were quick to arrive and fried just the right amount of time. Main dishes (mostly Bento boxes) were really good and quite varied; their house rice was delicious. I wouldn't go for their sticky rice again but that may just be a personal preference thing. Place is definitely family friendly. Our kids loved the ambiance and the fact that they caught many planes landing next door. Overall service was excellent. read more

We weren't sure what to expect when arriving at the restaurant, we took some time deciding on our order as there is quite a bit on the menu. We enjoyed the meal, nothing exceptional, but found the food very good. We didn't order anything too extreme, a vegetarian dish and a chicken dish. However the service was very bad. Our waiter gave us little information even though he knew it was our first visit. We actually thought that his shift must have ended and that he had left as we hadn't seen him in the restaurant for most of our meal. Then he suddenly arrived and said 'Just the bill then?'. No one checked on us, or filled water glasses etc. Despite that we ordered a dessert and some vegetarian sushi to go. The menu had said 6 pieces of Sushi, but when we got home there were only 4. We called them, they were not very polite on phone and said that they said they were just cut thicker - but they didn't appear to be cut particularly thick to us, just the standard thickness that you would get in the grocery store. Then the worse part - both my wife and I were sick in the night. Hard to pinpoint and be absolutely sure that it was their food, but seems likely. Based on service and the way they handled our complaint - we will not return and do not recommend it to others. Go to the nearby Moxies - where our service was exceptional a week before. read more

I have been waiting for about 3 years to find a replacement for my go-to favorite restaurant that closed down. Le Caveau de Szechuan was a great place to eat all I could of Asian type food. Its long since closed down and my friends and I have been to several places that had potential to replace it but never really hit the mark. Well, tonight I think my search is over. Bambu impressed me from the moment I walked through the door. Its really nicely decorated and very clean looking. The staff were very friendly and explained how the AYCE process worked. The dishes I liked the most were: Garlic Butter Shrimps and Scallops, General Tao's Chicken ( And trust me, this is good General Tao! seems like every place makes it different, but here its really good!) Szechuan Crispy Beef - another hit, the Coconut Curry Chicken was also really good. In all honesty I could type in everything we had (and we ate a lot) and rave about it. Also, there were two others in my party, a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant. The staff were very flexible and helpful in directing us to the dishes that were for us and not. When we left all three of us were happy. The price for the AYCE is $25 per person, which I thought was on the high side for an AYCE restaurant, but after eating there, I'm satisfied that it was worth it! All in all I was blown away with this restaurant from its great food to its comfortable atmosphere, attentive staff and nice decor, I'll recommend it to all my friends. I also would like to say, I NEVER write reviews, as you can probably tell. I enjoyed it that much that I'm telling the world about it. Check it out for yourself, you won't be sorry. read more
