Bamboo cafe has recently undergone a management change and hired a new Malaysian chef, and the new food/menu is amazing! The old menu is also still available but they primarily feature the new one now, which has a mix of Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. My family comes here often so the owner knows us, and serves us herself when we come. She is really friendly and sociable and remembers what we like, and even gave us roti canai on the house this visit. I am vegan and there are not a lot of options by default, as even most items in the vegetable section have meat, for example the tofu eggplant claypot actually has fish in it, and also many dishes are cooked with oyster sauce. However after explaining my dietary restriction to the owner she was able to get the kitchen to modify the dish for me, and I was able to get the tofu eggplant claypot without fish and without oyster sauce. The food was so good, the texture of both the eggplant and tofu were spot on, and even after removing many ingredients from the default dish the flavor was amazing. Even my parents said my veggie dish might have been their favorite. Highly recommend everyone come give this place a try!

My friends kept talking about this Bamboo Restaurant that has new Malaysian Menu. So I gave it a try while I'm in the area. I ordered so many dishes including the roti canai, chicken curry, beef chow fun, egg fried rice, black pepper beef, Egg tofu with ground pork, stir fry eggplant, and Hainan chicken rice. My favorite will be the chicken curry. It's authentic and has strong taste. The egg tofu with ground pork tastes amazing. The tofu is very soft in a delicious umami sauce. Black pepper beef is so tender and juicy. Perfect with slice red onions and peppery taste. The service is fast and the server is nice and friendly. Give it a try to taste Malaysian food.

Bamboo Cafe's newly introduced Southeast Asian dishes are a hit! As a self-proclaimed food snob, I've always been skeptical of Asian restaurants in Arizona advertising "authentic" dishes. But Bamboo Cafe genuinely caught me by surprise... in the best possible way! We ordered several dishes and all were fantastic: Hainanese Chicken: A comforting rendition of a classic. When a flight to Asia for a single meal isn't exactly practical, a day trip to LA has long been our go-to for satisfying our cravings. It's refreshing to have a solid local spot that satisfies! Sambal Shrimp: The flavor here is phenomenal. The shrimp are coated in a rich, savory sauce that delivers! The shrimp are also de-veined, a thoughtful detail that isn't strictly necessary (in many Asian restaurants), yet speaks to the care put into preparing the dish! Roti Canai: Fantastic! Soft! Flaky! My oldest is notoriously a picky eater and he could've finished two servings by himself! Malaysian Curry Chicken: Deeply aromatic! The kind of curry that made me wish I had ordered extra roti to just soak up every last drop! Ground Pork Japanese Tofu: The silky Japanese tofu smothered in that luscious ground pork sauce was just outstanding! This is what we call "下饭菜" ("rice-downing dish") - a dish so flavorful that you can't stop eating rice with it! Bamboo Cafe is a wonderful surprise and has earned itself a spot in our regular dining rotation!

Saw a post on FB about Bamboo Cafe a few days ago, so we decided to give it a try. It's exciting to find Malaysian food in the area! We ordered a lot! We got the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Malaysian Curry Chicken, Oyster Cake, Roti Canai, Samba Shrimp, Belacan Clams, and Ground Pork Japanese Tofu. Everything was good and we really enjoyed our dinner. My favorite was definitely the Hainanese Chicken Rice! The chicken was tender and the rice had really good flavor from the chicken broth. Finally, some legit Hainanese Chicken Rice in the area! We also really liked the Malaysian Curry Chicken and Roti Canai. Actually, it's hard to pick because we pretty much liked everything we ordered. So happy to have a good Malaysian restaurant close by! We heard they'll be adding more authentic Malaysian dishes to the menu soon, so of course we'll be back to try more!

Bamboo Cafe 6615 W Happy Valley Rd, Glendale, AZ 85310 A Facebook recommendation sent me here for the chicken rice, and once I heard the chef was from Malaysia, I knew I had to try it. After a client meeting, I drove over an hour just to see if it lived up. The waitress who sat me was friendly and confirmed what I was hoping to hear: the chef is from Kuala Lumpur. Jackpot! I ordered a half chicken rice with a bowl of rice for $3.99, plus roti and chicken curry. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. Here's how it stacked up: The soup wasn't quite like what I've had in Singapore or Malaysia. The red chili sauce could have been better, too. The chicken itself wasn't fully authentic to my taste, but I was still happy with it. I've had better chicken rice in California, but I'm grateful we even have this option here in Arizona. Would I drive over an hour again just for it? Probably not. But if I were already in the neighborhood, I'd definitely stop by and order it again. It's nice knowing someone from Malaysia is making chicken rice right here in Arizona

Great SE Asian fusion food, this place is authentic and legit! Very busy on the weekends and might wait a bit for your food, but it is totally worth it! For sure I will be a regular here.

Authentic Malaysian food, delicious! Great service, too. Restaurant is small and good for having conversations.

Outside patio, large space for gatherings...in the cooler months!

Chef Vincent from Las Vegas brings authentic Malaysian spices and flavors to the west valley! Thank goodness I don't have to drive to LV, or fly to SF or LA to get Malaysian food anymore! Must get the roti canai, tender chicken full or aromatics and creamy coconut flavor to dip their 2 flaky roti!! Any Malaysian or Singaporean will know if you see samba, it's a must order! If you know someone who doesn't like vegetables, order their eggplant and green beans!! Asian style vegetables are the only way to go and the most flavorful way is to have it Malaysian style! There is also a big outdoor space to use during the cooler months.

Shrimp samba really taste if you like shrimp paste flavor

First time try this place after saw a post on Facebook for Malaysia good , like the flavor, great staff

Sizzling Tofu

Bamboo Cafe is under new management. When we went to eat there the week before last, we found out they've added four new dishes to the menu. The first picture is our old favorite, the sizzling tofu, and the second and third pictures are from the new dish menu. All taste delicous!

They take cash, Venmo, or Zelle, no cards!! The inside is beautifully decorated. It gives me family vibes with how wholesome it feels. The service was standard in that the food took about 20 minutes to come out. The server was so nice! They didn't label their individual menu items as gluten free but there was an added note that all items except two were gluten free, which was a wonderful surprise!! My dad and I split the student noodles and the yorm chicken salad. The student noodles (with tofu) were outstanding. The sauce was so savory and umami and YUM. The tofu had a nice char on it and the cabbage soaked up the sauce too... I love and want to go back to order it again. The yorm chicken salad was a nice large portion and so fresh. It had a slight kick to it but the basil's and parsley allowed for a nice balance. I would also get this again but when we come back (we will), I'm thinking I want to try the lemongrass chicken dish! If there are a lot of people coming in at once, they can get a little backed up. The internet says they open at 6pm but the server said you can come as early as 3pm.

Full of similar flavors to Thai / Filipino food. The Lemongrass soup tasted like Tom Yung and the Porkchop tasted like Filipino BBQ. The Beef Skewer had a lemongrass/coconut marinade to it which was a hit. We also had the Seafood Platter but I only tasted the salmon and it was pretty good. I'm allergic to scallops and was too lazy to peel the shrimp but I also was pretty full lol This family-owned Cambodian eater in Phoenix is a must try serving up some traditional dishes This is definitely a hidden gem!

I've been to China Chili three times now, so I can safely say it's my favorite Chinese restaurant…read morein town. On my most recent visit, I stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner. They have complimentary parking in the front, side, and back of the restaurant. There aren't a ton of spots, but there's street parking close by too. Ambiance (3.5/5): Like most Chinese restaurants, China Chili is pretty no frills. Which isn't a problem for me at all, I'm there for the food. It's a spacious restaurant with both regular tables and circular tables that rotates (good for large groups sharing dishes). Service (4/5): Fantastic service is also not something I expect at a Chinese restaurant. Yet again, I'm there for the food. With that being said, service, while not overly friendly, is typically pretty efficient. Which I always appreciate. Drinks (4/5): Pretty much your standard soft drinks, tea, and a limited selection of alcoholic beverages. My favorite option is their buddha beer which you don't see in a lot of places. It's a lager and it's in a buddha-shaped bottle. It doesn't get much better than that. Food (5/5): The first time I came was for one of my favorite dishes... Peking duck. There aren't a ton of spots in Phoenix that have it, but out of the ones that do, China Chili serves it at a high level. You can go with either crepes or baos (additional surcharge). The duck is absolutely to die for. Flavorful, juicy meat with crispy skin that fits in perfectly into your mini "sandwich" with green onions and Hoisin sauce. For a reasonable price too. Their food outside of duck is of a similar quality. I especially like their flat noodles with beef. Even classic dishes like sesame chicken have a twist here. It's sliced chicken rather than fully breaded chicken. Just as good as the typical way, the sauce is delicious. My only complaint? They give you a pretty small helping of white rice with your dish. Outside of that, the portions are generous. Everything I've had at China Chili has been a hit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

There aren't many places in Phoenix that serve duck this neatly like in my photo, and I appreciate that it's not another chain restaurant. Is it the best version of this dish I've ever had, no...but it can be a nice change from the usual options of beef, pork, shrimp, and chicken.

For years I have driven 25 minutes for takeout and never regretted it. High decor -No, limited selections -No, quiet -No, great food -Absolutely, incredibly friendly and pleasant staff -100%. Our typical order is a large General Chicken with extra sauce and Malaysian fun chow. The general chicken is perfectly breaded, deliciously flavored, slight bite and an uncious taste making you want more. The Malaysian fun chow has wok fried wide rice noodles with a hint of char, shrimp, bean sprouts, onions, veggies and a light but savory taste. Another home run! Don't let the exterior or inside decor persuade your judgement. Hands down the staff is second to none and the food is fabulous. Asian Cafe Express is an incredible value for the food quality and portion size. Trust me, if you give them a shot, you will also be ordering here for years. To the staff, fabulous job and thanks!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.
