Atmosphere is nice with ideal tables out on the balcony, and additional tables in the square with glimpses of the river. Some live music for those on the square. We appreciated the kids coloring sheets and colored pencils as a nice touch. The service was pretty slow - after being seated we waited over 20 minutes for menus alone. After ordering drinks took awhile but then food quickly followed. The food was not great, and didn't always follow what was listed on the menu. The Salade Nicoise was tasty with great fresh tuna and a warm salad of potato and green beans. However, the cordon bleu which we got to share between my husband and one kid was terrible! It had soggy frozen vegetables as a side and a cordon bleu that seemed mass produced, what an embarrassment especially at 46 CHF! Then the lemon ricotta ravioli was anything but - the menu said it had burrata, lemon and mint and instead it was a bland cream disaster with arugula on top. Absolutely no lemon or mint flavor whatsoever. We mentioned to the server that we were disappointed with the food and her response was "oh" and that was it.

Why wander near places when the good is so far away? At least for me!…read more An evening business meeting can be edifying. At least if the ambience is right. I like the harbor restaurants. Because one usually has a nice view of the water there. The air here is somehow special. Unfortunately, it was already evening and February - so dark and with a view's it not really good. When we got to Zug in Switzerland at the harbor restaurant it was misty and cool. My first impression after entering the restaurant: the living room. Nice. FULL! We had a threesome a table and my colleague and I were still waiting for the third party of our meeting. In the meantime, we were warmly served with drinks and a very attentive waitress handed us in advance the food and wine list. The first impression: Expensive. Exclusive. Except for a few items on the menu nothing "simple", but styled fare Ok. I'm more for the simpler and less gravy. Except maybe for a roast. After the parties had arrived in the league, we ordered our entrees after a brief study of the cards. For my colleagues, this consisted of a salad with turkey, for our business partners from a pumpkin soup and for me from carpaccio of salmon and walleye - served with a small salad and a lemon vinaigrette. Seasonal fresh white bread. Very tasty, but for me a bit too much lemon in the vinaigrette. The main course consisted in three of us each from a 200g fillet steak from local beef to roast potatoes and blanched vegetables and king prawns. The filet was like butter and it could not be more perfect. The prawns were a little too dry and probably a little too long in the pan. But it was definitely just a touch and did not really bother. The dessert we didn´t order then, unfortunately - but there is certainly a next time. The coffee came from a special Espresso Machine and was wonderful velvety - served by our very attentive waitress. All in all - a not very cheap but excellent evening. Can be repeated. For sure. Categorization: 4 of 5 stars Value for money: main dishes from € 6.90, entrees from about € 5,00 Seats: 60 inside, 40 outside (lakeside) Specialization: Seasonal cuisine, German / Swiss cuisine, steak, fish. Recommendation? YES!

Our first visit was far from perfect, featuring a few culinary mistakes (like burnt goose liver)…read moreand some inexplicable odd behaviour from the head of service (like our reservation being changed without our approval). However, the restaurant has real potential, because Tobias Funke is an excellent chef. It's that simple. They were struggling with an influx of new guests they received due to Gault Millau's award, but they have reinforced the kitchen with a dedicated pastry chef, so you might have a better, more consistent experience than we did. Nobody's perfect, so we don't hold it against them. The food is all you would expect of a new gourmet restaurant headed by an excellent chef: Excellent bread and amuse bouches, creative compositions and big flavours. If you're looking to impress, then this is an excellent. The gourmet part of the restaurant is rather small, even though the tables are quite small, too. All of his PR wouldn't let you know that he has a knack for good pastry. His pre-dessert, an orange variation, is absolutely inspired. And his chocolate variation is truly excellent, one of the best showcases of Felchlin's ultra-luxurious Bolivian criollo Grand Cru couverture I've eaten so far. Beautiful presentation. Insider's tips: You can order from both menus if you eat in the bistro. The restaurant has a menu just for children. All food for the kids (and adults), from the ketchup to the french fries, is home-made and fresh, free from all artificial preservatives and flavor enhancers.
