Awaiting my flight by gate C11 to MIAMI, noticed this restaurant and decided to give them a try. First impression of this place was that of a sushi bar setup but more savvy and technologically experience. After several minutes of serving through their menu via iPad, I was thoroughly impressed of the layout. I ordered the BAM BAM fries with a glass Merlot, wine was delivered immediately and food came several minutes well prepared and very good. Great experience and great food. read more

Vietnamese...ish. Had grilled pork bahn mi, not really grilled and dosed in a sweet sauce. No pate, bread was of the bollo mexican variety which is very dense and not crunchy outside. Bread too heavy for bahn mi. Mostly flavorless, picked at it didn't eat the bread. Also ordered egg rolls with lettuce, cilantro, mint. Very small, no true flavor and full of grease. All overpriced but then it's the airport. Didn't care for the iPad ordering although it did work well. Couldn't see that it help speed along the order. I'll skip this place next time. read more

Ew. Just ew. Pork banh mi was generous and that's where the positive stops. Grilled pork wasn't; rather gristly fatty nongrilled pork was. The side salad was greens from a box, dressed with a toxic mixture of equal parts fish sauce and salt. Not good at all, even if you actually like fish sauce. Any haters who wishfully think that the delicate nuances of Asian flavors are simply lost on my American palate, I dare you to drop $12 on this Fail at BamBam and post you own review. I double dog dare you. Update: To their credit BamBam contacted me very soon after I posted and offered to make it right. Our paths didn't cross as planned so they may keep the points for trying. A strong suggestion for BamBam: you're using electronic presenting which makes complete sense at an airport. My experience would have been much better if the salad dressing choices had been on the electronic menu. read more

I really liked the Merlot I purchased in the airport... I was sitting outside the restaurant and ordered from the tablet. Very convenient but waited more than 10 minutes for the drink. Also, every time I took a sip, all I could smell were the aromas from the restaurant inside the glass lol. It didn't affect the taste of the wine and it smells great but not something I'd want to smell in my wine haha. I don't think there's anything you can necessarily do about it but something to keep in mind? :) read more

This did not go well and I had to rush to avoid missing my flight. I ordered a tofu banh mi with no mayo, but it came (maybe 15-20 mins later?) with mayo (and 1.5 sprigs of cilantro and no hoisin or hot sauce or fork or napkin). I had to give a death stare for glass of water. The tablet ordering interface does not appear to include an option for requesting a glass of water, and the server avoided eye contact pretty assiduously for the first few minutes after I had sat down and ordered. There were no server check-ins and I had to ask a different server for help twice. I had to ask twice for soup I had ordered; it came in a plastic bowl, notwithstanding the fancy atmosphere. Staff were circulating around tables helping explain ordering process. Ours provided ice water and a chocolate after dinner mint. Music is new world electronic. Came here to kill some time during a 2 hour layover. Ordered the rainbow roll and miso soup added on. For the price, sure although a little expensive. Ordering from the tablet was a complete pain in the ass. No one offered any help even though I was there waiting for 20 minutes. Finally got the order through, waited another however long for the food. Only saw the waitress TWICE, and that was only when she dropped off the food. Half way through my soup I found a piece of plastic as long as my finger in the soup, I almost swallowed it thinking it was seaweed. Waived down a bartender to get the waitress who didn't seem shocked or apologetic for almost swallowing plastic. Told me she contacted her manager and that I would be receiving a refund for the SOUP ONLY, wow a whopping 4$ for plastic in my food. Its been 3 weeks and STILL no refund, no way to contact anyone, and no receipt to prove anything. Also the pre added gratuity was compete bullshit as I had horrible service and experience. My husband and I were there on Sunday night, April 14 around 8:30 PM for dinner. Ordered Jambalaya and Cheese cake along with a bottle of water. We had to reminder for the water bottle couple of times and it came finally. However, we never received the receipt even though we filled the email at the time of ordering the food. After waiting couple of days for the receipt, I filled the request form for the receipt and still didn't receive it after 2 days. It is already Thursday evening and I end up calling the OTG phone as there is no other restaurant number. Hopefully we will receive the receipt eventually. read more

The WORST service I have experienced in over 10 years. I ordered food and drinks and was charged for both. I received part of my order and asked about the rest after waiting 20 min. The waiter clicked on my screen the had timed out 20 min later... said rudely that I had not ordered anything and instantly walked away. Tell that to my credit card bill. I really wish I could give this a zero rating. I was in a hurry to board my flight to Germany and was craving for some fried rice. Saw this new establishment and decided to try their chicken fried rice with added shrimp. The rice kernels were still uncooked and it smelled like they used spoiled rice. The entire dish smelled disgusting and the texture was super sticky and disgusting smell, which leads me to believe that the ingredients used in making that dish were bad. I had to throw the entire thing. Even the air hostess said that the dish smelled very bad. If you are going to charge folks over $20 then at least use fresh ingredients. No wonder people traveling to Houston from abroad tell me that IAH's food choice are bad. NEVER EAT HERE. I bought wifi connection on the plane to post this review. Second time eating here and while it was a little better than the first time, it needed to be a lot better. Again, the weird Cibo dining "experience" left a lot to be desired. I have gotten wise to it though. When you log into the iPad you can choose to put 0% down for the server tip. Most wont close out your tab if you do this. Bam Bam does though. I left cash for very mediocre service. The servers seem to be more concerned about whether you can figure out how to use an iPad than they do providing you with food and fill your drinks. And drinks are very important here because some of the food was so over salted my mouth is tingly. The gumbo tasted like someone accidentally dropped a Morton's kosher salt box in it. Which is too bad because it was a nice dark roux and the fresh crab and shrimp in it were nice. The flavor was good but way way too salty. And I like salty food. The chicken banh mi could've used some of that salt because it didn't taste like hardly anything. The pork banh mi I had last time was much better, but that isn't saying much. I tried an eel roll. It was too sweet but not horrible. I'd get a different roll next time though. Pretty disappointing stuff from Chef Nguyen who I normally like. I did like the variety of the menu. Great food, which is unfortunate, because it's severely overshadowed by terrible service. I've given this place multiple chances, and was shown the same experience every time. My most recent visit was at 2:30 on a Saturday- almost completely empty. I never got a single refill. My waiter , one that has served me poorly in the past, was gossiping with ladies behind a counter nearly my entire meal, while the manager, sous chef, and some other manager argued and yelled immediately behind my seat. The relaxing music was cut out by yelling about how to take care of the restaurant. My very first visit, I was forced to order fried rice, as it was "the only option for airport employees" after trying to dispute that multiple times, I was shown to a tablet that only allowed me to order fried rice, even though I stated several times I wanted something else. The food is so good, and it's bittersweet, because I won't be visiting anymore. I can't stand the service THAT much. read more

Maybe they should put another iPad at the entrance to let people have an idea how long it would take. Come on, it's an airport and time matters. And, you pay at the beginning! Horrible dining experience. This place was terribly disorganized. It wasn't even crowded and the staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I ordered electronically (your only option) and paid up front as required. Nobody brought even my drink for the first 15 minutes. When I asked about my order, one waiter said he'd check. He came back 5 minutes later with my ice tea and said my pho was coming right up. I checked two more times and was told it was coming. Finally I had to leave and get my flight so I never got my food. I stumbled into this place u aware of the cuisine which is fine as I will eat anything. Found it to be extremely overpriced and settled on a salad. WRONG. Chicken salad was honestly the most disgusting salad I have ever eaten, including leftover wilted salad. Pretty sure the dressing was dead fish oil or something but other than that it was wet and flavorless. I love Vietnamese food and am so thankful to be having Pho dinner plans in SoCal tonight. Do yourself a favor and get a piece of fruit and bag of chips. I ordered their specialty Pho soup noodle, and it was the WORSE noodle soup I have ever had. There was a few slide of fat meat in the soup and the soup taste very sweet and super oily.
