I am extremely impressed with these folks. I have had some bad experiences with the maintenance departments at nearby Ford dealerships, and decided to try to find a local mechanic for my Ford Escape. Having seen Baltimore Body Shop recommended on Reddit, I decided to give it a try for an all-around brake pad replacement that I had been procrastinating on. The service was fantastic! Their service advisors were willing to give a clear, detailed estimate over the phone, they were willing to put on customer-purchased brake pads (which I did not have, but I appreciated that they asked), and the job was done in about 4 hours. I was very pleased with the honesty and helpfulness of the staff, and from what I can tell, the work done was high quality. I will definitely be back! read more

Things started off smoothly. Baltimore Body Shop and Service was willing to fix damage to my bumper from a minor fender bender. They told me it would take 5 business days. On the fifth business day, I called in the morning to see when my car would be ready for pickup. They told me it would be ready after 12PM. Then, I received an email about the fog light plug at 2PM that day (email attached for review). I thought it was odd since my car had been at their shop for 5 business days and a weekend and this was not noted previously. I refused to get it repaired, and I wanted my car back for the evening. I had to drive to DC that night. After I received my car, I realized that my bright lights did not work and my left turn signal was rapidly clicking. This made me think that something was not right with the car after I picked it up. I scheduled an appointment that evening on the day I got my car back with a different mechanic used by family and friends around the DC area for the following day. It turns out that wires on the driver's side were not reconnected after re-attaching the bumper and harness back on the car. The fog light plug was fine, but the wire to it was cut and needed to respliced for it to be connected again. There were missing bumper clips (see additional bumper clips in the list of materials) that had to be added to the bumper to secure it into place, so my bumper was not even secured to the car after the work had been done to it at the Baltimore Body Shop and Service. There was even a missing bulb from the front of my car! I attached the report from the second mechanic who had to re-plug the wires, reconnect the cut wires, replace bulb, and add the bumper clips to secure the bumper back into place. I had to pay more money to remedy the situation, since it was dangerous to operate my car (bumper could have fallen off; brights did not work; left turn signal was not working - fast clicking sound). If this task cannot be performed well, please do not offer to do it. read more

I heart the folks at Baltimore Body Shop. First off, I love that it seems to be run by women, or at least there are several women there working away all the times I stopped by. Second, they are quick and reasonable and not condescending at all to someone who knows nothing about cars like me. Third, it was one of only a handful of shops that allowed me to purchase the part myself, which I did to try and save some money after the very tight alley at my new house and my passenger side mirror got in a fight. My mirror lost. I even inadvertently ordered the wrong part after Rachel was really clear about what I needed, and they called to let me know, after which I ordered the right part and they painted it, put it on and all was well again in the world of Kevin the Kia. I went to a couple different shops to get estimates and while they weren't the lowest estimate, they were close, and a few bucks is 100% worth the stellar and rapid service that I experienced here-so go, now! read more

I had my truck towed here after an accident. My insurance company totaled it out so I went in to negotiate a price for repairs. The estimator, James, was extremely blunt, and said "Can't do it." I peppered him with questions but was unable to get any details on what work was needed or how much each part of the job would cost. He insisted that it's unpredictable what needs to be done and what the final cost will be. When pressed, he said no reliable estimate can be done without towing it into the garage and putting it on a lift, which will cost me an extra $500, on top of $45/day storage fees, if I don't get the work done. Since only the driver's side rear was hit, I felt there was no to put it on a lift. Another estimator there, who had allegedly looked at my truck, told me that even if I wanted to keep it, it isn't possible to drive it off the lot. I spoke with a mechanic friend who speculated that the only reason they were being so negative was so that they could try to buy the truck from my insurance company for at or near the salvage cost. I went back, changed the wheel out, and drove it off the lot. What it needs is a rear quarter panel and tail light, a new tail gate, a new wheel rim, and sometime in the next year or so, new leaf springs. It's too old for a salvage title so I won't need to have it inspected. Whether the speculation part was true or not, I cannot recommend this shop. I have already taken the truck to another body shop which, after taking a quick look at it, gave me a quote that is much lower than the insurance settlement. Baltimore Body Shop's advice on surrendering the truck was some of the worst financial advice I have ever received. read more

This place is great for repairs, but also for other maintenance jobs! tl;dr : they are professional, transparent, efficient with jobs, communicative, and close to R house. My first experience was getting body/wheel repairs done here. They were very professional, giving me a pretty accurate quote even before going through my insurance. Communication with insurance was seamless, and repairs were started pretty much right away. They were really helpful explaining everything that needs to be done, giving me a pretty close estimate of how long it would take, and keeping me up to date on the status every Tuesday and Thursday. I had such a good experience, I decided to go to them for other maintenance jobs - engine oil change and brake replacement. They were very affordable and quick with the jobs. For the brake job, they gave me a call a week after to make sure that the brakes are working fine. Another small perk is that it is very close to R house. For the maintenance jobs, I walked over to R house to work while I wait. Until I leave Baltimore, I will do everything related to my car here. read more

Having to go to a body shop is never exciting, but if you have to go, choose Baltimore Body Shop. I stupidly scratched the door of my subaru outback. Since I already had a small accident a few months back, I didn't want to go through my insurance. I went to a couple of body shops and they insisted I went with the insurance as the cost of the ​repair was a few thousand dollars (around $2500). I then decided to go to Baltimore Body Shop. James came out to see my car immediately and gave me a very reasonable estimated (around $700) and a completion time of 4 days. I just went to pick up the car...which looks impeccable! Also, it only took them 3 days to complete the job, which saved me one day on my rental car. James called me basically every day to tell me about the progress on my car, which really made me feel they care about their customers. My only regret is not going there sooner! Found this shop online and felt good about it b/c of the previous reviews were high, however my experienced was a joke. Took my car there after an accident and they were initially very friendly. I never got that initial estimate I asked for twice, but I let that slide b/c my insurance got it and approved it. Initially they'd call me once a week with updates (good business), but when I asked them why I stopped getting those calls, they said it was b/c there wasn't anything to update me with (ok). Then I had to start calling them about the status of my car, and never really got a straight answer. Ultimately, what they initially said would take 'a couple weeks' ended up taking two months! Oh, and the final bill was also $5K (more than 50%) higher than what they estimated it to be. I will say that my car was only a few months old, and I'm sure newer cars are more difficult, however that's they're job and I don't need any BS answers as to why it was taking so long. Lastly, after 7 weeks I got a call saying the body work was complete, but that my transmission wasn't working. It seemed to be working fine after my accident, and makes me question what kind of job they did. read more

Very pleased with this shop! I have been twice. The first time was to get paint work done on my A5 when I was rear-ended, as well as touch up my rims. The paint work looked great and so did the rims. I was pleased with the price and the timeframe in which my car was ready. I was back a week ago when my car got hit (AGAIN!). They were great in dealing w/ the other driver's insurance company to report additional damage to my windshield which I hadn't noticed. I am not familiar with the process for car accidents, so this was a relief not to have to get too involved. My car, again, looks great! They have excellent communication and always let me know if it would be done that weekend, etc., so I knew what to expect. Very pleased and will recommend them to friends and family. I have used BBS twice for an Auto Accident Claim. They are a "Preferred Provider" for my Insurance Company. The first time about 8 months ago they were speedy and communicated well. This time was MUCH different. I had an auto accident that damaged my truck cab, rear passenger door and the rear of the cab on the passengers side. They had my Truck for 7 (SEVEN) weeks. They quoted the initial job @ 20 days. We called weekly for updates and were told they needed parts, were waiting for parts, had to reorder parts, and so on. When I picked up the truck the rear drivers side bed fender was dented (Wasn't dented before it was taken in), there was a vent line on the rear axle dangling/dragging the pavement, the bed tie downs were not screwed in after the repair, a bed pug was not installed and laying in the bed, the interior molding where the damage was repaired is misaligned and all wrong, the weatherstripping is not even, and there was orange ratchet straps (That are NOT mine) in the bed and 17 additional miles on the odometer. Someone was using my truck for personal purposes because there was salt residue all over it. It was dirtier after pickup than before it was taken in for repair. When we confronted them they claimed it had to be driven to another location for paint because their paint booth caught fire. Completely unprofessional work and Ill never use them again. Ill be sure to tell people about my experience. Ill also be contacting my Insurance Company about this awful service. read more

Nobody likes to have to take their car in for service, because it eventually means a hefty amount of money out of your pocket, and it's usually for someone that you're not even sure you can trust. This was my mindset before I came to Baltimore Body Shop. After I left, however, I've been converted. These are good people. After a disastrous safety inspection, I was referred to BBS by the inspection station to get a rust problem fixed. Dan was quick to acknowledge us, friendly, and promised a quick estimate, which he made good on. While the price was unexpected, it was definitely in the fair range, considering the magnitude of the problem(s) he found. And the service was professional all the way - friendly receptionists, attention to detail, and a big beautiful dog with the playful manners of a puppy (but yet not jumping all over the customers). It was obvious that they had a LOT of customers, by the size and fullness of the garage, but that didn't stop these folks from wanting our business, and it showed. You cannot do better than Baltimore Body Shop if you want your car fixed or detailed. Their wall with pictures showed some absolutely miraculous restoration of classic cars; I was flabbergasted by how beautiful some of them turned out. They know their stuff. What a great experience. I got into a minor fender bender, and about two minutes after the impact I was already dreading the experience of finding someone to fix my car. My knowledge of cars is limited, and I was worried about getting ripped off. Of course, I also wanted to get my car fixed and back on the road as soon as possible. Long story short: I shopped around a little, chose Baltimore Body Shop, and am very glad I did. The prices were reasonable, communication was good, the work was done quickly, and everyone I worked with was pleasant and professional. I drove away with a smile on my face. I got the impression that this shop is a well-oiled machine, both in the technical side, and in the office. They certainly had no problem turning my car around in 72 hours, with no shadyness and no hassles. I don't look forward to getting in another accident, but if I do, I know who I'll be calling. P.S. Just a cautionary tale: I got quotes from a few other body shops. At the last place I went to (same general part of town. . . not naming names. . .) the estimator said that she could not give me an estimate without "tearing down" the front end of the car. My car was barely driveable as-is, so doing that would obviously prevent me from taking the car elsewhere. This was especially strange since staff at THREE other places had been perfectly comfortable inspecting the damage as it was. When I declined to let her tear it down, the estimator verbally quoted a price that was two times the quote that I had already gotten (in detail, in writing) from Baltimore Body Shop. They are really good. I went there for oil change first. $68 including tax for Mobil 1. Second time it was roadside assistance for battery outage, $100. I went to their neighbor for auto glass once, expensive, not recommended. Most recently, I had my auto AC fixed there. Dan did a quick check to my car first. He claimed that it was not the usual Freon outage or somewhere leaks. He gave me a big discount and only charged me for his labor fee. BTW, they have an electronic system to diagnose where it leaks rather than letting you drive for two weeks and see which was a solution offered by many other shops. Then Dan recommend Tom to take care my car. Tom is very professional with AC repair. It was not an easy problem. Finally, Tom spent one day and half finding out it was a small sensor problem. Tom also gave me some discount. The price was definitely not cheap considering the labor fee for diagnosing. But to me, it is acceptable. Finally, the AC works perfectly. I had a great experience here. My car was totaled in an accident on I-83 but I wasn't ready to get a new car so had BBS fix it for me. I, as a twenty something female, always felt comfortable and had full faith in the body shop, which is not always the case with car repair shops. No one talked to me condescendingly and I LOVED that there were so many women working there. It took a little longer than originally expected, but Rachel stayed in contact the whole time. They ended up doing a great job on my car and it recently passed Maryland inspection. Getting in an accident is no fun, but if it happens to you I highly recommend Baltimore Body Shop. I started going to the Baltimore Body Shop more than 10 years ago. They are great people! The first time I went there it was for a favor, and I wasn't even a customer. I was helping a student group called the YouthDreamers collage a Crab sculpture - you may have seen them around town. We needed a way to seal the collage to protect it from the elements. Baltimore Body Shop sealed the crab for free! I've been going there ever since and always get great, quick, and reasonably priced service. When my Volkswagen Jetta, was in a major accident, the whole front end was crushed, my airbag went off, I took it there. They did an excellent job! It looked and drove like new when I got it back! This past winter the undercarriage of my Toyota Camry got stuck on a pile of ice when I was trying to park. As a result, the plastic was dragging on the ground and making a horrible noise. Baltimore Body Shop fixed it right away, then said -no charge! NO CHARGE! unheard of! They are the best! read more

These guys just tried to scam me out of about $700! DON'T GO THERE! They told me a part was broken but that i needed to ALSO replace the parts on either side of it (even though they were in perfectly fine condition) because they were "attached permanently and couldn't be replaced individually." Then they handed me an estimate featuring an order for TWO PARTS(???) NOT INCLUDING THE PART THEY SAID WAS BROKEN. I went to Hampden Tires the next day and the guy there instantly deduced the same problem just from the sound of me pulling into the parking lot and told me the part could be replaced on it's own for less than half of what they were going to charge me at the other place. I was really happy with Balt. Body Shop! I took my car in for a new bumper after hitting a raccoon, and they had an estimate for me in about 10 minuets (with a surprisingly good price.) Had in in the next week and it was done in two days as expected, price was the same as the estimate, and the bumper looks great. I have never loved a car repair place before. I love Baltimore Body Shop. I had been hearing a weird noise in my car for a few weeks. I'm a teacher and I work late almost every day, so it's rare that I can get out of work in time to have my car checked out. I was stressed out about this noise because I had no idea what it was, I don't have a lot of extra cash (no one teaches for the pay), and I really needed it fixed before my elderly relative came to visit. I had a small window of time after school but before an evening school event started recently, so I took my car to Baltimore Body Shop. Not only could they fit me in unexpectedly, the mechanic who fixed my car was professional, fast, and very competent. He fixed the sound in about 10 minutes for a super reasonable cost. From arriving to leaving, I was there at max 30 minutes. The issue was exactly what I suspected and the mechanic was efficient and effective. The first time I took my car to Baltimore Body Shop, it was as a result of a totally random google search. I was new to Baltimore and had gone to a different shop, but I suspected that they saw me as a young woman who could be fooled. The work they said it needed seemed absurd the and price was sky-high! I got back in my car and searched for repair places near me, and got Baltimore Body Shop. Not only were they honest about the work that needed to happen, a young woman did the estimate on my car. It was so great to see a car repair place that employed a woman in a traditionally male role. I was referred to Baltimore Body Shop by a friend after I got rear-ended recently, and he did not steer me wrong. The Baltimore Body Shop staff is extremely friendly and professional, and the work I got done on my trunk and bumper was beautifully done. While the car was in the shop, I also had some prior dents fixed on my own dime. The prices for that work were competitive and it was also done very well. Okay if you want a crap job. My fiance paid 4k for a paint job and slight body work and they had the vehicle for over 8months and poor communication about time to be finished. Kept pushing back the time because as we were told the cars that are insurance jobs come first even though our car was paid for in cash in full. We asked for pictures on the progress for each step and only got them when we had to call up the shop and complain. We finally are able to go pick up the car and we check it out and there are scratches and knicks in it everywhere! Could have gone to macco for the same crap job and have paid so much less. Never will we recommend this shop to any of the car club or friends. read more

Great family-owned business with very friendly staff and excellent service! I brought my car in without an appointment and they were happy to take it right away without an issue. My car needed some body work and they gave me the best price around by far. They even offered to match any competitor's price as long as I brought them a printed estimate. While my car took longer than expected in the shop (about two weeks), they were very helpful and kept me updated of their progress the entire time. They did a better job than I even thought was possible and my car now looks brand new! If you don't want to waste time, money, and headache on subpar bodywork, then I would not recommend taking your vehicle here. My car has been unlucky enough to be hit a couple times and this is the worst body work and customer service that I've ever experienced. The communication is extremely poor. The finish date on my car kept getting pushed back another week on several occasions after I was told that it would be ready in a couple days. I would be told that my car was in the paint process, only to call back again and be told that it hasn't started being painted and they are waiting on some part. My insurance adjuster was even confused as to why they kept making up new excuses. Even after speaking to the owner, Dan, I still couldn't get an accurate time frame and my request for photo updates of their progress was ignored. He gave me a nice speech on how much care they have to take into fitting the bumper right and finishing the repair, only for me to have my car returned with trash everywhere and a pile of D batteries soaking in a pool of water in my trunk. I've been having continued problems (returned with dead battery; water leaking into car; bumper misplaced; cracked tailight installed) since getting my car back, requiring me to waste several hours of my day each time for them to fix their careless mistakes. read more

We dropped it off on a Friday for repair and learned on Monday that it was missing, along with the keys and every other car's keys hanging on the wall. A few months ago, I had the side of my car hit by a utility cart at a hardware store and they not only fixed the damage, the paint transition was flawless (I tried to see were they stopped the paint but couldn't). And they cleaned the car (it was fairly dirty when I dropped it off). Finally, I learned they have a mechanical department and have since had my oil changed and brake work done. I got in an accident last year around this time and have not had time to get my car fixed or the money. I took a shot in the dark and called this place seeing 4.4 stars on yelp and figured well maybe they won't be too expensive! To my surprise they were literally half the price of pepboys and jerry's!! I called numerous times asking about my Monte Carlo and they answered all my questions with no problem. In addition to a cheaper price it only took them about 10 business days for a ridiculous amount of work. Thank you Baltimore Body you're amazing!! Strongly recommend. read more

Took my car in on Tuesday(9/4) because it was over heating. They told me I needed a new thermostat and a tune up paid $499.17. Friday(9/7) comes and my car is still over heating I take it back and they say it's a pen leak in my radiator, gonna be almost 400 dollars to fix. So of course after just paying almost 500 dollars I don't have that kind of money at the moment so I ask them to flush out the antifreeze container and put in new antifreeze at least so I can get home.(because Tim[the owner as I was told] personally informed my husband and I that the container which holds the antifreeze was clogged. He even lead the both of us to the garage just to allow us to see for ourselves). So after that I walk across the street to the bp and when I return he(Tim) then informs my husband and I that the real reason the car is overheating is because it is a pen leak in the radiator. And that's when we were told how much it would be to fix it. Of course I ask why wasn't that determined when I first came in on Tuesday and he said not only did I not come for the overheating but I they would've never been able to notice it because my check engine light was on and it was reading Multiple Engine Misfire. Now prier to coming in I explained to the receptionist at the desk that my car was overheating and jerking. And not only did I explain it my receipt that I have clearly states my complaints with my vehicle starting with the overheating issue. So end result I leave the parking lot and I can barely make it to the gas station across the street when the car over heats again, this time with all the fluid they just put in it leaking out EVERYWHERE .I WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS RECOMMEND OR ATTEND THIS SHOP EVER AGAIN. Tim was extremely rude to me even after taking my money, even after telling me my car was ok and it wouldn't over heat again(the first time I went in). I am completely disappointed with this service, if I could have given it a negative rating, I would have. I was basically told to suck it up, either bring more money to get it fixed or don't drive to far. I feel completely ran over, I use my car for children and now I'm being told not to drive far ?! My car broke down on me before I even left the shop, I had to use my roadside assistance to tow my car home today. And all Tim could say was it's nothing we can do. All that money wasted. But it's okay because now it's an open case and my lawyer and I will be seeing Tim in court real soon. So take it from me guys DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.
