Balport saved me $560 and I would have saved an additional $125 had I called them first and save myself the cost of a quote/visit from another locksmith who was very, very over priced!! I have been very pleased with the safe I purchased about 2 years ago. This morning I went to retrieve my passport but the safer door would not unlock. I figured that it was mostly likely a low battery so replaced, however it still would not unlock. I called Balport and the individual I spoke with asked that I send pictures of the safer. After sending the pictures had to leave the house for a doctors appointment, however, their lead technician called after looking at the pictures and told me he though he could resolve the issue. I gave me a quick set of instructions to try prior to calling, and having to pay for, a service person from the safe manufacture. Mean nasty people. My mechanic sent me there to get a key made . The mechanic said they would charge me about $36.00. When I entered the price changed to $47 to make a key. I told them my mechanic said it would cost $36.00. The man behind the counter said it has always been $47.00 per key. An obvious lie. From there it went downhill with their friends mocking me for being a Joe Biden voter. Not all black people vote Democrat, and this one has always been a Republican. Went in for a car key duplication (key-start, with a chip). Been shopping around for places that could do it, ace, minute key, mobile services on yelp, etc. Crown Ace in Newport recommended this place. Before doing business with a company I try to research/test the company. Based on my experience with Balport Lock & Safe I will definitely NOT return to this business. I had planned a replacement of my home locks so went to Balport with a simple problem to see if they would help me. I guess if you're a repeat customer and spend a lot with them it's all good but if you come in with a simple problem requiring an even simpler solution they "see you coming" and take advantage of you. Worked with them for over 35 years. They had THE go to store on Riverside Drive for years,and now at the new location on Old Newport Blvd., it seems the company has a new level of energy. The showroom has expanded into safes, and today I bought one. Great Service. They guys are so helpful. After a personable phone call where he answered our questions, we headed down to their showroom with our Auntie. I actually called ace hardware looking to repair a key for a 92 Miata , and THEY referred me to ANOTHER BUSINESS which just goes to show how reliable and fantastic these guys are at their craft . I called the store and spoke with Jason I believe and he told me to bring my broken key in and made me 2 copies in minutes . He also practically only charged me for the key itself , when I was inquiring for prices in other areas I was looking to pay upwards of $200 and he charged me 15.03 .
