Balport Lock & Safe - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

Very disappointing experience. I went to Balport Lock & Safe today specifically because I wanted some expert advice and a good selection of locks for a bedroom door. Unfortunately, the gentleman I dealt with was rude, dismissive, and acted as though helping me was an inconvenience. I showed him the type of electronic keypad deadbolt I was looking for, similar to one I already have, and was quoted around $400. I had already been looking at comparable options elsewhere for substantially less, so the price surprised me. I don't mind paying more at a specialty store for expertise, selection, and good service. In fact, that's exactly why I went there instead of a big-box store. But if I'm going to pay a substantial premium, I certainly don't expect to be treated rudely in the process. I left without buying anything and will purchase the lock elsewhere. The poor customer service was ultimately a much bigger issue for me than the price. read more

They were able to duplicate my motorcycle key. They knew what they had to do and did the job in 10min.

Great customer service!! They made everything run seamlessly. I would highly recommend them for your safe and lock needs.

I went in for something small and thought they wouldn't pay attention since the sale wouldn't be big, but they were super helpful and I got exactly what I needed. read more

These people are amazing! Answer the phone. Organized. Reasonable. Helpful! Most locksmith companies have been bought out by people who don't understand reasonable pricing - like no price sheet, just quite a price and haggle over the quote - Not Balport! Highly highly recommend. read more

Got the Job done with in the quoted time, we chose to add another service and it was only an additional prorated 30 min charge. Honest transparent and high quality work. + The locksmith: (spacing on his name but he was very cool, easy going, & fun to chat with.) ~ It was an emergency lock out , the dispatch had an available locksmith immediately w standard rate of $160 (first 30 min no extra charge for immediate service during working hours.) read more

Excellent service! Super friendly and fast -- got all my keys copied and they all worked perfectly. Very happy with the experience and will definitely come back again! read more

Always helpful and inviting no matter how small the purchase - I'll keep coming here.

He was knowledgeable and extremely capable. He succeeded in getting my broken safe open where I think many others wouldn't have.

Balport saved me $560 and I would have saved an additional $125 had I called them first and save myself the cost of a quote/visit from another locksmith who was very, very over priced!! Andrew from Balport came yesterday and was incredibly patient while I asked questions and additional requests. Andrew was very professional and timely with rekeying ten locks and changing all the cylinders. And several of the doors didn't have keys. I have a few different keys for different doors and some of the keys have gotten lost over the years. This gave Andrew even more of a challenge but he did not complain and proceeded to change all the locks to ONE key and make my life a whole lot easier and secure. I am extremely happy with the service and cost of using Balport Lock and Safe. And Andrew, thank you very much for taking such good care of me! Much appreciated. read more

Stopped by as I was in the area. Friendly people here! I had a bent key. I knew there was a chance that they couldn't help me or that the key could break if they tried to repair it. They were very nice and made sure that I had a spare key before trying to repair my key. They were able to repair my key! It fits in the lock and works so much better now! Thank you!! read more

I have been very pleased with the safe I purchased about 2 years ago. This morning I went to retrieve my passport but the safer door would not unlock. I figured that it was mostly likely a low battery so replaced, however it still would not unlock. I called Balport and the individual I spoke with asked that I send pictures of the safer. After sending the pictures had to leave the house for a doctors appointment, however, their lead technician called after looking at the pictures and told me he though he could resolve the issue. I gave me a quick set of instructions to try prior to calling, and having to pay for, a service person from the safe manufacture. Well I got back from the doctors and tried his idea and first try it worked. Great customer service. read more

Mean nasty people. My mechanic sent me there to get a key made . The mechanic said they would charge me about $36.00. When I entered the price changed to $47 to make a key. I told them my mechanic said it would cost $36.00. The man behind the counter said it has always been $47.00 per key. An obvious lie. From there it went downhill with their friends mocking me for being a Joe Biden voter. Not all black people vote Democrat, and this one has always been a Republican. My advice to them is this; Never ASSUME because it tends to make an ass out of you and me. Take a course in how to treat ANYBODY, and stop lying. read more

Went in for a car key duplication (key-start, with a chip). Been shopping around for places that could do it, ace, minute key, mobile services on yelp, etc. Crown Ace in Newport recommended this place. Balport got it done in under 10 minutes, and at cheaper price than all other options. Definitely coming straight here if I need another key done in the future! read more

Given the chance, I always use this true locksmith to re-key, and make new keys. Never had a problem with them!

Before doing business with a company I try to research/test the company. Based on my experience with Balport Lock & Safe I will definitely NOT return to this business. I had planned a replacement of my home locks so went to Balport with a simple problem to see if they would help me. I guess if you're a repeat customer and spend a lot with them it's all good but if you come in with a simple problem requiring an even simpler solution they "see you coming" and take advantage of you. They are evasive, unethical and overpriced. No thank you read more

Jason at Balport Lock & Safe went above and beyond to make a spare key for my vehicle. For whatever reason, a simple copy just wouldn't work. He took the time and figured it out. I really appreciated his work and determination. Only charged me the regular key copying fee despite how much time he spent making it work. I highly recommend Balport, great service. read more

I needed a new auto key fob and a replacement spare key for my vehicle. I walked into Balport and they were able to provide me with both keys within 30-45 minutes. Quick turn around, fair pricing, and great customer service. These guys were awesome! read more

My first time at Balport & they made a customer for life. Complete locksmith services, keys made (NUMEROUS blanks available), and safes (lots & lots of safes). The team consisted of 3 - 4 very knowledgeable people who greeted me and asked if they could help. I don't know for a fact, but my impression was that a number of them were family members. They have been servicing the area since 1984. 24/7 emergency services, sales, and repairs. This in an industry where most of their competitors operate out of the trunk of their car. read more

I can't say enough great things about Balport! After trying my go to Ace Hardware , no one could help me make a spare key for my unique lock--The team at Balport was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and quick to find a solution. They went above and beyond to make sure they gave it a try with a small morning that it may not work which was absolutely satisfactory to me because the alternative would've been much more difficult . Their expertise and friendly service truly set them apart. If you're looking for a locksmith and safes you can trust to handle even the toughest jobs, Balport is the one. Highly recommend! read more

Worked with them for over 35 years. They had THE go to store on Riverside Drive for years, and now at the new location on Old Newport Blvd., it seems the company has a new level of energy. The showroom has expanded into safes, and today I bought one. Great Service. They guys are so helpful. I had to get keys made for a difficult lock and they worked it until they got it right last month. No one can touch them. They cracked a floor safe in a house for me several years ago and they are always easy to work with and helpful. I left my credit card there like a bonehead, and they kept it for me, safe and sound. Here is wishing them many more years of success. read more

This is a great company ! Initially I needed a locksmith & Scott fixed my lock- then I needed some woodwork done & Scott did an impeccable job making the door look perfect after a random locksmith's blew the back of the door apart.. Everyone who I spoke with at the company was kind, profession & friendly! I highly recommend Balport if you need a locksmith especially Scott. I have the utmost confidence in their company & how they conduct their business.. Do not waste your time, money or energy on any of the generic locksmiths online. read more

I needed a safe ASAP and I've been looking at them at Balport. I ordered a safe from Balport, which was American made, and super strong. What service! My 87 year old aunt needed a new safe set up. We reached out to Ryan at Balport and he really knew his business. After a personable phone call where he answered our questions, we headed down to their showroom with our Auntie. Ryan walked her through all her options and gave her the peace of mind she needed as she made her choice. Two days later, Ryan and his technician were at her home ready for the install. We love that Ryan doesn't contract out the installs but has his fully vetted staff or as in this case, himself onsite for the install. Working within the Senior community's requirements for signing in and out and taking extra care to ensure that everything was as my aunt desired. We couldn't be more grateful. Do not hesitate to reach out to Ryan and the rest of the personable staff here at Balport. They won't oversell you or leave you with anything but a good experience. Kudos to them! read more
