For a small, local pharmacy, it doesn't get any better than Ballard. They deliver your medicine for free, have a lottery stand inside, a toy section in the back and both generic and name brand medicines. This is the only place I ever go to buy medical supplies and the staff there are very kind and know what they are talking about. read more

Sorry (and surprised) to read about another poster's bad experience. In my experience, the folks at Ballard bend over backward to be helpful. If I need a med they don't carry, they special order and get it within a day. And when I go there to pick something up, I never have to wait more than a minute or two (unlike the endless depressing waits at big chain pharmacies). People there care about you & about their jobs (again, I'm comparing to the big chains here). I hope they are always part of the neighborhood. read more

When Walgreen's opens on Prospect Avenue, I will walk right past it and get my prescriptions filled at Ballard. Incredible service - my daughter was prescribed hypoallergenic formula and they went above and beyond to research how we could get it, even though we couldn't get it from them (not because they don't carry it, just because of a weird quirk of our insurance that requires us to order it from a medical supply company) - so basically they spent hours on the phone with OTHER COMPANIES trying to help us get what we needed, They are always friendly and helpful - a real neighborhood gem! read more

I love this pharmacy! I grew up in the suburbs where chain stores rule. It is so nice to have a Mom & Pop shop where they actually give you personal attention! The pharmacist here is very knowledgable, remembers his customers, and takes the time to explain things to them in detail. They deliver orders (and take the initiative in doing so!), and they have even delivered to me on credit before -- haven't heard of that since the 1950's! This is a great little mom-and-pop pharmacy, where they know you by name and go out of their way to give good service. Once they even delivered my prescription unasked, because a few days had gone by and I had forgotten to pick it up! If they don't have what you need, they will try to order it. The only complaint I could have is that it's smaller than the big box pharmacies, so their selection may not be as good, and it's not 24-hour -- but a small price to pay for good service (and if you know in advance, they can probably order it for you). read more

i can't say enough great things about ballard pharmacy. i'm so happy to have a local non-chain pharmacy, with a pharmacist who knows my name. saj works so hard to find me the best prices on my rx, and he's always friendly and helpful. how he ramins calm during calls to doctors and insurance companies, i don't know, but he does it easily. plus, ballard delivers, and they have not only the basic drug store items but also a whole section of newer, trendy items--burts bees, etc. grateful to have an independent drug store in my nabe! read more
