I opted just for a light drizzle of strawberry. My mochi waffle ended up being a very heavy treat! Each bubble had mochi pieces inside. This dense and delicious treat would cost like 12 bucks at disney and/or major cities! My bff, while covered in sauce, had airy bubble pockets and weighed less than mine! Ball Ball Waffle is unique in my experience. Sure, they serve waffles, but not the kind that I've ever had - in a very good way. Instead of indents, like a regular ol' waffle, these waffles have outdents that are ball shaped and that can contain savory or sweet bits inside of them. Ambiance: I've been here 3 times now and absolutely love this place. It's a true family run business with the same husband-wife duo who moved from Hong Kong and serve some legit ball waffles. Their son is often there studying or playing games in the background and he's always super well behaved which is adorable. I've never seen these waffles in the midwest and usually have to get my fix when I visit my family in California. The place has a trendy atmosphere though, it's meticulously clean, and the wife who usually takes the orders is always so patient and friendly. Food: So far i've tried the peanut butter cup, mochi, traditional hong kong/peanut butter, and oreo waffles and have not been let down. I genuinely think you can't go wrong with any of their flavors. Even the plain waffles are amazing once you drizzle some chocolate and condensed mild on it. They do let you split flavors as well so you can try two flavors in one waffle if you ask nicely :D The chocolate ice cream scoop is also worth getting because it adds even more decadence and texture to the dessert, I was worried it would be cheap ice cream but it's actually rich with a slight chew to it that I love. It's the type of place that you only know if you know, and you'll find a number of great Asian shops inside - and it's attached to a fabulous pan-Asian supermarket called Park to Shop. Once inside, you'll find Ball Ball Waffle at the main intersection of shops. It is very small inside and run by a family who has their process honed to an exact science. They measure batter out to ensure the perfect amount goes into the waffle press and methodically tend to each waffle on the griddle, all the while making drinks and taking customer's orders. The name comes from the ball-shaped waffles that you'll order here. These waffles protrude in ball-shapes where you'd normally find an indentation. You can choose from three different types of batters (regular, chocolate, and matcha), and several different fillings (ranging from oreo to mochi to peanut butter to cheese). I've been twice now, and have tried the regular Hong Kong style which doesn't have filling but is drizzled with peanut butter sauce and condensed milk, as well as trying the "say cheese" (regular batter, cheese melted inside), which comes with a nice spicy mayo dip, and the peanut butter cup (regular batter, with peanut butter cups melted inside), which came topped with condensed milk. Far and away, in my opinion, the best has been the peanut butter cup, though all have been delicious. To pair with your waffle, you can get coffee, milk tea, and tea with coffee jellies inside. I recommend staying with a hot drink to compliment your hot waffle, but maybe that's just me. Take note that they open at noon, so this is a great spot to grab brunch or have your waffle serve as a lunch substitute. You should know that, because it's a mom and pop shop that is very popular, you'll wait a bit while they make your waffle to order. The Hong Kong style lemon iced tea tastes exactly like what I would have at Kee Wah or a Hong Kong cafe in the San Gabriel Valley. I did ask for half sugar, which I think helped, as I don't like my drinks too sweet. The matcha mochi egg waffle was made to order, and the addition of matcha on the outside and mochi on the inside made it a super tasty dessert. The menu has a number of sweet waffles, a couple of savory waffles and drinks. Having stopped by twice I have tried both a sweet and a savory waffle. The waffles are kind of the reverse of what we are used to, instead of a thick waffle with indents, Ball Ball makes waffles that are thicker balls connected by thinner batter. My first time I got one of the traditional waffles topped with condensed milk and peanut butter to which I added a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The waffle is made into a sort of cone and served in a cup with the ice cream in the middle. Although a bit difficult to eat with the ice cream, it tasted really good, the waffle is mildly sweet with a firm outside and soft inside. The waffle serves as a good canvas on which they can paint the other flavors to make a small masterpiece. The cheese waffle was interesting, as the waffle batter is still a bit sweet and contrasts nicely with the cheese that has been caramelized by the waffle iron. Served flat, this is easier to eat as you can just pull off individual balls. Ball Ball is well worth a visit if you are looking for a snack, light meal or something sweet. The waffles are a bit softer then the traditional American style waffle. Be aware that the hours are limited with the shop open from 11am - 4pm most days. A hidden gem located inside Asian Plaza. Just look for the Li Wah sign, and it's going to be inside the same building. The owners are actually from Hong Kong based on their appearance. They sell milk teas and bubble egg waffles. The bubble egg waffles are their actual specialties though. I had their mochi mochi bubble waffle. It was delicious. They make the waffle in front of you, and it's still warm by the time they hand it to you. Each bubble on the waffle contained a piece of mochi, which gave the waffle a more chewy texture. The waffles from here are a perfect dessert-not too sweet, and perfect for winter weather. The waffles are perfect for summer weather if you add a scoop or two of ice cream on top. The milk tea is decent. They use actual condensed milk rather than milk powder like most bubble tea places. I still wouldn't get the milk tea again though.
