A fabulous local ice cream spot in Ohio City! Before the end of the summer, I had to come here for some ice cream. First, I got two scoops ($6.50) of traditional ice cream - a scoop of oatmeal creme pie and a scoop of strawberries & cream. Both were excellent and creamy. The strawberry ice cream had a great natural strawberry flavor, and the oatmeal creme pie ice cream came with little bits of oatmeal creme pies. Literally a few minutes after finishing the two scoops, I decided to get some more ice cream, LOL. You can never have too much ice cream, right? I opted for the peanut butter & grape jam soft serve ($6.50). The peanut butter had a strong peanut butter flavor, and the grape jam was utterly refreshing and reminded me of grape soda (complimentary). The staff was very friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating. I have been here a handful of times but not in over a year. And I forgot to take a pic, I ate my ice cream too fast. They serve ice cream and also fries and corn dogs. I believe in the winter they serve ramen but I've never had any food just ice cream. I got the mango lassi ice cream cone small that is 2 scoops. And my partner got a cup of the strawberries and cream. We found a seat, ate and people watched. Good place for it. Ice cream was very good. Both the mango and strawberry had chunks in them. Prices are not cheap. But it is super good and they have very inventive flavors. You can taste test. Parking is whatever you can find. No lot just parallel where ever it's OK. Line moves fast. No restrooms. This is just a little storefront in a neighborhood. But it is good. Worth a try. read more

Love coming by here for a sweet treat when I'm in the area. Their menu has been pretty consistent with offering a variety of flavors (including vegan and gluten-free options), but I love that they also do soft serve, and offer a variety of whipped creams. While I'm particular about their ube (tastes a bit different than what I'm used to), I do like their other flavors (like blueberry latte), and I'm a fan of their peanut butter whipped cream. A couple of months ago, I finally had the opportunity to try the ramen from here! BF and I took my sis and her hubby here and we got 3 of their ramen bowls and 1 spicy cold noodles. In the winter months, they seal up their tent in the back and you can eat at their picnic benches. Still chilly in there but at least not windy! No matter when I come here, there are a lot of people. The lines were long but became even longer after we ate. I liked the taste of my spicy cold noodles but the portion was pretty small and I had no other veggies or toppings besides scallions. It was a bit sour for my taste so I would've preferred more sesame oil than vinegar. Everyone else's ramen bowl was okay for the portion filled up with broth. I thought the price was kind of high for what you get and the taste was between okay and good. It wasn't as authentic or flavorful as I was expecting. Mason's Creamery is a quaint little shop tucked away in Ohio City ... clearly a neighborhood staple, but such a wonderful discovery for us. You can choose a cup, cone, or bubble waffle, and I absolutely recommend the waffle. They make them fresh to order, and it takes the whole experience to another level....pssst. it was warm folks The flavor selection is creative and unique, with vegan options available as well. Great spot on a Sunday afternoon! My son wanted ramen but they only serve that (understandably!) in the winter. So he had a Korean hot dog on a stick instead and we also tried two flavors of ice cream: strawberry cream and peanut butter/marshmallow. Both were quite good. It does get busy here, but we seemed to have arrived before the rush. They do give you a little buzzer that will go off when your order is ready. The ice cream is handed over right away, but the savory dishes (or maybe the sundaes too) do take a little more time. They have water available outside in coolers, which is a nice touch. Finally tried the ramen. I got the raclette my son got the tonkatsu. The Raclette ramen was so unique and all the flavors from the broth to the pickled veggies, to the pork and raclette cheese were meant to be together. Creamy savory broth made me drink it out of the bowl. All the ingredients tasted so fresh and scratch made. We ate in the covered cafe space and the people were so friendly. It's a retro looking shop in a residential neighborhood. The line and the offerings are both ample on a good day, and I waited for a bubble waffle. The flavors are distinctive-one I was hoping for they were out of but I ended up with some interesting malted chocolate and something banana-based. A few non-dairy frozen desserts were available. The waffle browned nicely and made a great combination with ice cream from top to bottom. There was outdoor seating with a porta-potty set up and a water cooler that was empty, so bear in mind the limitations of the setting, but on a nice day this was clearly the place to be. read more

It's definitely a summer place to be (day or late night) where you can meet up with friends and family, bring your dog, and hang out on the patio. This place is consistently lively! Food: The menu features ice cream, affogato, and sorbet. You can order your favorite ice cream in a cup, cone or ice cream sandwich. New seasonal flavors are posted on chalk boards outside. You can also order Korean hot dogs! In colder months, Mason's Creamery switches to their ramen menu (watch their social media). It's so cool to associate this place with your warmest and coldest moments. You can order at a small shop inside or at the takeout window (samples available). I ordered forest berry sorbet in a waffle cone ($7). Sorbet was good, but a little watery. I usually go for sweeter flavors. Cone was sugary and delicious! Easily the best cone I've tasted locally! Service: Service was very quick and pretty pleasant. The line moved fast. Seating: Plenty of covered and uncovered seating is available outside. There are tables and benches to accommodate all kinds of groups or solo visitors. There are also cool string lights in the evening that add to the whole vibe. No indoor seating is available, just patio. Parking: No onsite parking is available, park on the street. Ohio City is a challenging parking destination but it's well worth. Visited Mason's Creamery today to try their ice cream. To my surprise, they offer affogato, which is traditionally made with Italian ice cream and Italian espresso. To my dismay, they don't use Italian ice cream or Italian espresso. But it was still pretty tasty. This place knows what they are doing. It's always busy. They don't always have flavors I love. I wish they had a few more traditional ones. I love that Bubble Waffles, which you have to order at the register. Then they give you a pager that will beep when ready and you pick it up at the outside window. The Waffle is wonderful. Fluffy and has a slight maple syrup flavor. The Maple Bacon flavor is great as was the White Rabbit. The Peach didn't taste much like Peach. This is a really great little creamery/ice cream stand in Ohio City. I came here on a whim because I walk my dog by the place almost every day. I finally decided to pop in. Don't let long lines deter you from going it, it moves very quickly. The ice cream is very good. Very creamy and very filling. The first time I went I bought a single scoop. The second time I went, I bought a double scoop and it was almost too much! I purchased a butterscotch vanilla ice cream in one of their hand-rolled cones. Just delicious. Must have been a wonderfully high fat content (I mean that in a good way) because it filled you up fast and held lots of flavor. The only downside to this place are the weird, offbeat flavors that constantly change. Guys, all of that is lovely and sweet, but can you please just have a regular cache of standard flavors for the less adventurous? The cones are wonderfully rolled by hand and very crunchy and sweet. Owners moved from Los Angeles, CA to Cleveland, Ohio in 2013 and local Clevelanders like myself are happy they did. LONG REVIEW: ** 5/5 stars for their tasty ice-cream** (I'll update it once I try their ramen and winter menu) I've been to Mason's Creamery approximately 8 times or more. I visited recently in August 2024 for a friend's going-away gathering before she moved back home to Houston, Texas. ORDERING -- outside at the booth or inside. It's a very small ice-shop but if you're new, I suggest ordering inside where you can see the full menu and ask questions. Their limited ice-cream menu is also posted outside. SEATING -- Patio-style. They have chairs all outside the ice-cream shop including a section at the back with about 3-4 tables. For my friend's going-away social, we (about 6 of us) sat at one of the tables/chairs at the back. There is no inside seating. ICE-CREAMS -- I got the small Cardamon flavour in a cup ($6). It was such a light and airy ice-cream yet filled with flavour. They sell ube, strawberry, chocolate, and much more flavours. They also have some seasonal or temporary flavours that appear once in a while. You can get ice-cream in a cup, cone, waffle, or in a cookie as an ice-cream sandwich. As someone who prefers to eat healthy 95% of the time, I surprised myself by ordering a beef corn dog topped with potato during my August 2024 visit. Cool little ice cream shop. We stopped by on a recommendation from a friend. Glad we poked in. That I saw, they have a handful of food choices and about a dozen different ice cream flavors. I could pass on the Captain Crunch ice cream, which was spot on to the cereal. I also tasted my son's Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream...same deal, spot on to the cereal. We stopped by Mason's on a whim on a Saturday night. Naturally, there was a line right out the door but it moved quickly. Lots of street parking although we didn't see a designated lot. They have the cutest outdoor seating options with lights strung up. We opted to walk around while we ate but it looks like a great gathering spot for friends or to take a date. They have both dairy and vegan ice cream options. Flavors were very unique. I opted for Butterfinger and Strawberries & Cream. My husband had Butterfinger and White Rabbit Candy. We both got smalls which were very generous 2-scoop servings for $6 each. The value is great. Everything was delicious and they allow you two free samples to try before you buy. Flavors change regularly, the apple pie was a bit intensely sweet, while the twinkle was interesting and tasty, exactly as you'd expect a Twinkie mixed into vanilla ice cream to be. Inside is small, the line moves at a good clip so even if it spills out the door and onto the sidewalk I wouldn't stress. I'm always excited to open up a takeout bag of a new place. It's the closest thing I have to receiving Christmas presents. It's like you never know what exactly you're getting or how it's going to be packaged. Well I was completely underwhelmed. Shame on Guy Fieri! I went per him featuring them on Diners Drive Inns & Dives. I got the raclette ramen, which he enjoyed. It was just a big bowl of flavorless milky broth, noodles and vegetables. I kept going back for more, hoping for something to be flavorful, but no! The cheese was ok but that's it. The $19 bowl didn't offer anything delectable for the price at all for me. I actually wouldn't even pay less for it. I guess this is kinda like pho? I tried a pho bowl in Cleveland's China town which was not great. The best I've had is a beef pho bowl at Lobster and Pho in Independence. Super delicious and flavorful broth and a lot cheaper than $19. I also had the crispy rice musubi. Also no flavor. The crispy rice tasted like a tasteless hash brown. The spam and chile topping was fairly flavorful. A bit salty but was ok. I sampled a few of the ice creams as well and was equally flavorless! I'd be happier with a container of butter pecan ice cream from Aldi for less than $3. I like to be honest with my reviews and hands down this isn't a place I'd return too and the menu didn't offer a ton of choices to go back to try anything else. They have classic flavors but also REALLY unique flavors that are always so fun to try!! ... one of my favorites is the Ube flavored ice cream! (Ube is a yam native to the Philippines) it's naturally purple & the ice cream is purple!! The service is great, from the moment you get to the counter the employees are ready with spoons to offer tastes, which is perfect because they change the flavors so often (posted daily on their instagram story!) there is always something new to try. I love the small batch approach with a variety of unique flavors, as well as offering two small scoops rather than one large one so you can try more flavors. However, the ice cream is less flavorful compared to the nearby Mitchell's (or Jeni's, a personal favorite, if you're willing to drive to Chagrin Falls). I would return, though, if they have a new flavor that catches my eye. And I would love to try the ramen sometime! read more

It's not traditional but it does the job. I thought it was just okay. The Korean dog was alright. Not the best I've had. The batter could've been more flavorful. But it's not a bad option if you've never tried them before. The prices are pretty reasonable for what you're getting. It's a tiny place! Some seating inside and tons more seating outside. The indoor area was heated which was nice! I think a lot of people come to pick up but don't necessarily hang around. Parking is parallel.
