I'm really disappointed. This café used to be one of my favorite spots. Their pastries and service aren't even the problem. My issue lies with the owners using AI to generate every Instagram post and advertisement they have. A business who uses AI to generate fake images of their food isn't trustworthy in my opinion. If they care that little about their marketing, why would they care about the quality of their products?

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The bread was fresh and crusty, there were two small strips of tofu that had maybe been dribbled on by hoisin sauce at some point, some lettuce and jalapeño slices, and carrots. The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.

I started with the borscht, which was absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. For my main course, I had the lamb, and it was outstanding. It was cooked wonderfully, full of flavor, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. What really made the experience memorable was the combination of excellent food and genuinely warm hospitality. You can tell there is a lot of care behind both the kitchen and the service. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would absolutely return. If you're dining here, I highly recommend trying the borscht and the lamb!

The bread was tasty and came with some herbs, though I wish it was served warm. I ordered the Clafoutis St. Abraham ($11) - a spinach and goat cheese pancake appetizer - and the rigatoni de Noricia ($24). The food came out quick. The appetizer was delicious. It had a slightly crispy exterior, and there was a great balance between the spinach and goat cheese. The rigatoni was also excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the cream sauce was rich and flavorful. The rigatoni came with crumbles of house-made sausage, mushrooms, and herbs. I do wish there was more pasta. Service was friendly but slow. My server had her attention split between several tables. I waited a bit between water and bread refills, and paying the bill took some time. Nonetheless, if I'm not in a rush, I would definitely come here again because I liked the food and LOVE the restaurant's mission. The ladies next to me raved about the salmon, so I might try that next time.

I visited on a Saturday for brunch, and since they don't take reservations and the space isn't very large, there can be a bit of a wait during peak hours. Parking was probably the most frustrating part of the experience. Your main options are valet, street parking or parking in a city lot on a nearby street and walking over. It's doable, but not the most convenient -- especially if the weather isn't great or you're in a hurry. Once inside, though, the experience definitely improved. The atmosphere is cozy and lively without feeling chaotic, and the staff kept things moving despite how busy it was. The food was genuinely good and worth the wait. I ordered the shrimp and grits with chicken sausage, and it was flavorful, hearty, and clearly made fresh. I ordered 24K pancakes "with toppings" as a meal so it was around $20 and I thought it should've been way more fruit and whipped cream than it was for the price but that would be my only critique. One of the highlights was the drink menu -- especially the variety of mimosa options. If you're into brunch cocktails, you'll have plenty to choose from. I tried the lemon drop mimosa, which was refreshing, slightly tart, and a fun twist on the usual orange juice version. Overall, Double Nickel delivers where it matters most: tasty food and creative drinks in a cute brunch setting. Just plan ahead for parking and the possibility of a wait, and you'll likely leave happy (and full).

I had never had Yemeni coffee before so I asked the barista for suggestions. Based on the fact that I wanted to also try one of their beautiful milk cakes (like a tres leches), I opted for the Mufawar coffee since he said it was less sweet and a bestseller. It was served on an adorable bamboo tray, piping hot and very strong! It had a unique flavor and paired well with my saffron milk cake. Yes...I said saffron. I was very hesitant to try this after he described saffron to me, so I actually got both saffron and biscoff milk cakes. Wow, this man knew his stuff! The saffron milk cake was absolutely scrumptious!!! And who doesn't love a biscoff cookie?! I had to take that one to go. I hope to return to Cleveland soon so I can try the pistachio latte (a sweeter coffee) and possibly a different flavor of milk cake. The coffee shop was quite large, bright, and tastefully decorated with lots of gold accents. I loved my experience there!

Very nice. I had no idea I was getting a shake however since the menu option was for a variety 4 pack of hot cakes. The shake name was on there but the menu doesn't lead one to believe it wasn't just a hot cake flavor. Somehow I chose three flavors and the shake but got four hotcakes so the menu could be clearer. The hotcakes weren't hot but weren't cold. They'd be great if hot. The mess with eating these is unbelievable. They come in paper sleeves and with the first bite the sweet syrupy filling bursts out the other end which will leave whatever it hits in a super sticky coating. Beware. None of the hotcakes were labeled and they all tasted very similar despite one having some chocolate filling in it so I have no idea what the Space Invaders etc cake taste like. Was ordered at 742, immediately confirmed, and I picked it up in 20 minutes. You walk in to this food hub and check in on the tablets and then go to the front counter where your order is scanned out and given to you. There are five or six "restaurants" selling food through orders made on a very slow website without any way to call anybody if there is a question. That is a big drawback in my opinion if there is a question or error made.
