    Donuts in the box
    Caroline J.

These were maybe some of the worst donuts I have had! So dry! And I have had my fair share of donuts. My friend went and picked them up, so I can't speak for what the place looks like inside or the service. My friend got a breakfast sandwich and enjoyed it along with a coffee.

Love the atmosphere and staff! I absolutely loved the cinnamon roll! Highly recommend.

We did not make it in time for donuts, so we had to get cookies. Terrapin donuts sell out early. We were leaving at noon and the shop closed when we left. Terrapin is a cute little donut shop in Tremont. They have a variety of baked goods, but the shining stars are their donuts. The cookies deserve a huge shout out as well. The oatmeal cream pie was enough for two. It was soft and perfectly proportioned. The decor in the shop is cute. There are several seats. The counter is visually interesting as it is covered with old concert tickets.

Placed an order for pickup. Not sure if brioche donuts is my preference but I've only had one so far Update: I much preferred the cake options i.e, blueberry cake, apple cider cake

Lemon raspberry and apple cider donuts

This little bakery was right across from our Air B&B when we were in Cleveland for the weekend and oh my gosh how did get so lucky??!! Definitely went both mornings and do not have one single regret!! First morning was 2 lattes (one honey and one vanilla), 2 donuts (key lime pie and peanut butter banana), a breakfast sandwich and burrito (holy cow the burrito)!! We ate half for breakfast and half for lunch. Second morning replicated the coffees because they were PERFECT!! 2 more donuts (lemon raspberry and apple cider) and shared a breakfast sandwich. So good!! Service both mornings was warm. They were so friendly and welcoming!! Would 100% prefer giving my money to a cool locally owned establishment like this than a chain. It only showed up when we searched bakeries though! Hoping it can be edited to show up when you search "coffee" or "breakfast" as well.

My FAVORITE bakery in the city ! Fresh donuts and beignets ! Amazing staff! Cute, nostalgic decor! I'm not a big coffee drinker so I haven't tried any but they serve that too! The wraps are fresh and flavorful and packed to the brim! The pastries have this taste that you can't find anywhere else. It tastes like a REAL donut, none of that store bought stuff. My number one place to go to hands down!

    Egg cheese bacon breakfast sandwich

Came for coffee, breakfast, and a pastry. We thought that the coffee was very subpar. Ordered lattes and would certainly not order them again. Also ordered a breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, and bacon) and it was delicious! Also included in the order was a breakfast burrito (which was giant) but priced at a whooping $17. We got the blueberry poptart which was also delicious! Would 100% come back for pastries only!!

Today was my first day trying this place. I yelped "cinnamon roll" and this place popped up so I decided to immediately go try it. The staff was nice and they also have other options besides pastries they have breakfast sandwiches too. I will say if you go get there early because most of the donut selection was gone and there weren't any more cinnamon rolls. They also charged a fee for a card transactions so unless you're getting a lot I would maybe also take cash. I ended up trying to Keylime coconut donut... This is a good donut. It has a lot of height and thickness. The key lime flavor is just the right amount. There are a couple other flavors I had my eye on, so I will definitely be back to try them. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because the donut is literally the only thing I tried

    Donuts + cinnamon roll

Stopped by to try some donuts while I was in town. I was really looking forward to the cinnamon roll but it was dry without much icing and not gooey. The highlight was the lemon raspberry with jam and the key lime with coconut. They don't put a crazy amount of coconut on it, which was nice. The donuts are kind of between cake and a traditional yeast donut. When I was there, the donuts didnt have other flavors for the cake part, but mostly seemed to be distinguished by glaze & topping. Unfortunately they look prettier than they taste and didn't blow me away. The coffee was good and no complains about service. They have typical donut/coffee shop ambiance.

We're not sure what they use to fry the donuts in, but it leaves an after taste. The place is cool, the donuts look great. Super nice people. Just can't get over the after taste.

What a great find. Left the Cleveland zoo and thought a coffee might be nice. Found Terrapin and so glad we did. The breakfast sandwiches are great (Forest and Texas) and the coffee was very good. They had enormous homemade blueberry pop tarts! Decor was awesome. Vibe was awesome. The staff was awesome. That's three thumbs up.

Coconut key lime and lemon lavender donuts

I was passing this bakery and the bright donut sign beckoned me in. The staff couldn't have been nicer and shared their favorite recommendations. I settled on a key lime coconut and lemon lavender donut which they carefully packed. Major yumm! The donut was a little crisp on the outside with layers of fluffy brioche within and a flavorful glaze. Something you could be happy with as a cake or a yeast donut fan. Highly recommend if you'd like to make your morning a little gladder.

Also last month I tried their restaurant week special (includes latte, panini, and choice of cookie or macaron). Ended up choosing the brown sugar latte (opted for oat milk), corned beef panini and gingerbread molasses cookie. All were good, the favorite and definitely would get again would be the latte. Also if you use the too good to go app, I love their bags (such a good variety with amazing value) which sell out in minutes. Definitely in my list of regular places to stop by.

Service is also attentive and friendly. My favourite worker who works there is an old lady, Luba from Ukraine, who I love chatting with because she just exudes joy and kindness. Plus, who doesn't love a Grandmother? There are younger workers there too who are nice. Prices are very decent. In my recent July 2024 visit, I got a Miami donut and a German Kaiser sandwich. I had never ordered any of their sandwiches before so The famous Miami donut has only gone up in price by $1.35. It cost $1.65 in 2019 and now, in July 2024, it cost $3.00. The sandwich that I ordered was a 'build your own' sandwich on Kaiser bread which was $6.50. I added turkey, tomatoes, their oil/dressing mix, and mayo on the side. The German Kaiser sandwich was a delicious second lunch for me after 3:30pm (the lunch I ate earlier in the day which I prepared at home was very light). Since my below review in 2019, I still love Michael's Bakery and I wish I lived closer to the business. While they may not be one of those "fancier" bakeries, they are still very good. Never judge a book by its cover (including inside appearance). The outside ("cover") building is simple which is fine since it tied into the neighbourhood (Brooklyn) that the bakery is located in. I'll definitely be back. I normally visit every 3-4 months.

Tucked away in a little plaza is this gem and they have a large variety of baked goods and homemade items to choose from. They have breads, bakery, packaged foods/items, and hot lunch foods as well. They also have homemade dog treats which I really enjoyed. With this being my first time, the lady behind the counter was so lovely and helped me pick out a few different items to try as well as informing me of what all the baked goods were. I ended up getting the breakfast danish, an apricot danish, and a cinnamon glazed twirl stick. The bakery danish was interesting as it had a hard boiled egg inside of it and was topped with cheese and bacon. It was delish and it was nice to see something unique as a breakfast option. I felt the cinnamon twist was a bit dry but that could just be the type of bakery item it is. The apricot danish was nice, not sure if their filling is homemade or not but it tasted like most apricot fillings I have had. The bakery was tasty, I would not say I would go out of my way for any of the things that I tried but if I was in the area again I would definitely peak in to see what they have in the case for the day. Regardless, it is a cute place with lots of charm and you can tell the owners and staff genuinely care about their customers. I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
