This is my favorite stop before seeing a show. There's always a good variety of sweet treats, they have the classics but you always spot something new to try and at reasonable prices. The trick is coming in at least 45 minutes before start time otherwise you'll be in the longest line behind all the other sweet tooth show goers. read more

My favorite antipasto salad is now inedible. The dressing is different and tasteless when before it was the most amazing Italian ever. The peppercinis have clearly turned and taste off. And just wayyy too many black olives..cheap from a can. A few bakery items I got had clearly been frozen. Frozen for a while bc it's rock hard frozen with chewy pastry. As someone who grew up on the delicious treats made by Corbo's in their original location in Little Italy, I have been delighted to watch them grow and expand. This location is a great place to grab dessert before a play and hang out for a while. It is clean and bright, with large number of tables and the staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. The selection of sweet treats is mind boggling. Don't worry too much about choosing though, because everything is delicious. Or better yet, try a bunch of different things. I'm glad this place opened up next to Playhouse Square. I've been here a couple of times now before a show to pick up some treats to eat afterwards (or during if that particular theatre allows food, I'm not going to the overpriced theatre concession stand if I can get a cookie at Corbo's for less than a dollar). They offer a variety of pastries. I've gotten six different little cookies for $5.32 (price is by the pound) that they kindly split into two bags for me and my date. I've also tried the cream horn $3 and the bear claw $3, but they have stuff like cassata cake, biscotti, tiramisu, and gelato. Staff is friendly and patient. read more

My husband and I stopped here for a quick dessert prior to our show and believe me this place did not disappoint. Time constraints did not permit me to do an extensive overview of the Italian bakery but I did get the opportunity to see their offerings and ask some questions. Mostly you can get breakfast pastries including donuts as well as unique desserts. They sell refrigerated goods for both takeout and eat in as well. They have a nice dining area where you can sit with WiFi-passcode available upon request. In addition I noticed that they sell various pastas some of which are gluten free as well as candy and ice cream. I had the opportunity to ask the counter lady about gluten free and vegan options. I learned that they have little of both but if you are looking for it they will show you what you have. I was intrigued by the fig filled cudati and what they call a "7 layer real mini birthday" cake. I was told these are petit fours but I was amazed at at all the hard work that goes in to making one of them. I learned that these small items are priced by weight. My husband opted for a nutella filled cookie and the birthday cake mini covered in vanilla icing. I had the cudati and the birthday cake covered in the chocolate icing. My husband enjoyed both of his choices. I really liked enjoyed the cudati and only wished that I could have taken some home. it was full of figs and I could tell it was made fresh! The chocolate covered 7 layer mini was also very good. We were both thrilled that this small cafe sits right next to the Connor Palace theater since we were attending a performance there. Being from out of town i did not realize that their main location is in downtown Cleveland's little Italy section. This cafe is a must return for us since we will be continuing to attend Playhouse Square as new subscribers to their Broadway series. I am very anxious to check out their other offerings. Located on Euclid Ave there are some outdoor lots for parking as well as the Playhouse Square parking lot if spots are available. read more

Corbos is definitely one of our top favorite Italian bakeries in the area. I am so excited that they decided to open a location downtown because that is a lot more accessible for me! They have a huge selection of baked goods at this location and they also have lots of hot and cold drink options too! This is definitely somewhere you could come and get coffee and dessert and bring your laptop to come and sit and work! There's a Corbo's in Downtown Cleveland and I AM HERE FOR IT! I love the Corbo's in Little Italy but I don't get out there as often as I like, so I am thrilled they opened a new location in Playhouse Square, nestled right before the Palace Theater. There's a lovely chandelier that's pleasantly surprising and catches your eye right when you enter. The first thing I noticed was how big the space is. I was expecting a hole-in-the-wall, but the bakery is quite large, with an entire seating second room of seats! There's comfortable chairs and tables where you can actually sit down and have a meeting, go on a date or just relax. The atmosphere encourages you to stay and hang out! Corbo's has a huge selection of everything from pizza and pepperoni bread to donuts and lemon bars. They also have some of the best cannolis in CLE! Everything is super affordable, so just try a few things and go nuts. They also have a coffee menu (which is admittedly a bit of expensive), but if you're a donut and coffee type of person, you can do that here. Really looking forward to the new Corbo's being in my regular rotation of places for a coffee/pastry date! read more

I'd heard about their Cassata cake from some travel websites, so I was thrilled to see that they had a location in Playhouse Square, really close to where we were staying! We stopped in on a Sunday late afternoon when there wasn't any performances going on in the nearby theatres, so it was really quiet when we got in there. In fact, we were the only ones in there! They have a nice selection of desserts, pastries, Italian cookies, coffee, etc... so much to where it was hard to decide! I ended up with the Cassata cake, a Buckeye (after all, I was visiting Ohio...), and some biscotti to go for my mom. The staff was friendly and they have a very spacious location with a lot of seating, which was something I wasn't expecting. The cake was great, good amount of fruit, custard, and cream! Buckeye and the biscotti were okay. Would love to try some of their other cakes one day! read more

I was pretty excited to see this Corbo's in the thick of the Playhouse Square district, glimmering like a tasty mirage of delicious cannoli that ended up NOT being a tricksy illusion but an actual Corbo's! (!!!) If you can guess, I don't make it to Cleveland's Little Italy near as much as I'd like so it's welcome to find this gem in the downtown Cleveland area. Lest you think I was not enthusiastic enough about this vision of pastry goodness, within a moment of finding our seats in the theater, I was doing an online search for information on their hours. Lucky me - they indicated being open at least an hour beyond show times and, sure enough, after an interesting musical experience we entered the shop. For a small store-front, the interior is quite spacious with plenty of cafe style table and chair seating and L-shaped glass display cases of Italian cookies and pastries. I didn't see a number dispenser - instead, please just calmly wait in an orderly line to be given a chance to order treats by the numbers or pound. If you only have eyes for cannoli, please don't fret when you notice there are none in the public facing cases. These delicious crunchy shells of chocolate dipped and not varieties are instead waiting behind the counter to be filled upon demand! read more

We had quick, helpful and attentive service during our visit while at the Jazz Fest. Nice seating inside and they do have a few outside tables. Here is why the low rating. And it has nothing to do with the food. The cookies and desserts are just as good as the one in Little Italy. Here is my problem. We came in for a cookie to eat before the Bway Show Series. Just a little nosh before we go into the theatre. I had to use the restroom. Now the restroom for the most part looks clean so it's a good place to go before you get into the theatre with the masses and have to wait. But no toilet paper. So I tell one of the girls the women's restroom needs toilet paper. She continues chatting with her associates. I mention that I have to use it still, so I'd appreciate her moving on that soon. However, she seems to have a different agenda she continues to talk. Minutes later I see her with 2 rolls but she is still behind the counter talking and walking. I keep watching cuz I have to use the restroom. I lose sight of her and I think good she is changing it.... no she is still behind the counter. I finish my cookie and am waiting still. Now I really can't wait and she is still behind the counter and has both rolls in her hand. Obviously my urgency is not hers. So we leave. I walk to the theatre and use that restroom. But why? Why did that have to happen...? That was rude and annoying. And made me needlessly mad. Honestly that is just not the way to run a business. read more

I Needed to be home due to medical reasons, therefore could not attend the funeral of " Our Favorite Italian Aunt". Not knowing my way around Cleveland's " Little Italy", I had no idea Who to call . This bakery popped up, but so did it's neighbor restaurant, I called the first #, it was the restaurant, they also recommended Corbo's. I called the following day. The woman on the phone, Not only helped me through the order, BUT LISTENED to MY story of my precious Aunt, how I wanted but couldn't be there, and wanted to 'feel' as if I were. She Never rushed me, didn't make me feel awkward for being overwhelmed, and asked if she could send me a picture of everything before they delivered it.( Are You kidding me? The Only time that EVER happened before my friend was the proprietor, and I was in the hospital). They delivered it to the home, were Extremely polite, and helpful to the family. And How could I have known? This happened to be my AUNT'S Favorite bakery, AND ALL of her favorites were on the tray, no fillers, just " ALL THE GOOD STUFF" ( yes, and I apparently sabotaged quite a few ppl's 'sugar fast') From what I was told, " it looked beautiful, and luscious, But Tasted Bettet!" read more

While I still love the ambiance surrounding the Corbo's in Little Italy, I'm so excited to have a Corbo's location downtown! It's a great place to study, meet up with a friend, or grab a bite before or after going to a show. There is plenty of seating and they offer cookies, so many treats, gelato, and regular meal options like pizza. Everything is reasonably priced and it has always been well staffed. They have longer hours than other coffee shops in the area and there is free wifi. I definitely recommend the biscotti and cannolis! read more

I was SO excited to see Corbo's bakery open in downtown Cleveland! I work downtown, and journeyed to Playhouse Square to purchase tickets. I stopped in Corbo's on my way back to work. I was really surprised that the place was empty at lunch time. I think that I may know why. I LOVE kolachky cookies, and have purchased many, many times from Corbo's in Little Italy, always to my satisfaction. I ordered 1/2 pounds of assorted flavors, approx $8+. I anxiously awaited until later that evening to consume. My daughter and I eagerly dug into the box of cookies and we were both SO disappointed. The cookies were dry, old and stale. The filling was hard, and so were the cookies. We tried multiple flavors and all were exactly the same. I set them aside to return, to the bakery, but decided that it was not worth my time, nor my effort. I most likely won't return to this location. read more

The Corbo's Bakery you're used to visiting in Little Italy can now be apart of your Playhouse Square theatre tradition. The newly opened location plans to stay open until an hour after Playhouse performances. Whether attending a show or just wandering around downtown on a Saturday this is a great place to stop in for a snack. You can pick cookies and biscotti out of the case and pay per pound. There are also cupcakes and small slices of cakes in addition to the large cakes that you can get to go for a party. Two friendly staff were there when I stopped and patiently waited while I chose one of those and one of those to take away. I liked the pecan tarts and the chocolate florentines best. read more

This newer location is in the theater district, making it a great option to grab a coffee and pastry snack before a show. We stopped in on a Thursday night. It is counter service making it quicker than a lot of the surrounding restaurants. The employees were so helpful and kind working quickly with smiles on their faces. One thing that could have been better would have been a menu on the wall of all of the options. We took a pepperoni roll off a bread rack and had a piece of pizza (listed on a wall menu) heated and then later saw people ordering soups and sandwiches that we did not know were available. The pepperoni roll was absolutely delicious. The pizza was not quite our style with a very thick bread like crust. It will hit the spot when you're hungry though. The one in little Italy is alittle better, it has more of the Italian vibe but that might be because it's actually in little Italy. The downtown location is larger and can certainly take a small crowd. Stop over here after a play or while your taking a walk downtown. You won't be disappointed! I live about two blocks away tops, which means that I've been here plenty of times including last night. Anyone who lives in downtown Cleveland knows that almost all stores shut down around 9 p.m. (Heinens, CVS, etc.), with many cafes and bakeries closing earlier or even closed all day on Sunday. The long hours here are so appreciated in and of themselves. I believe others have already sufficiently captured the great amount of variety, but I will share with you three of my favorites: 1. The small little birthday cake bites, super flavorful, not dry, just the right amount for a little treat; 2. Lobster tails, these are a cream filled pastry that as an Italian I grew up with and were pretty much always in either our fridge or freezer. Very intricate and time-consuming dessert to make so many bakeries don't make, but that's not because they're not good. Try them, please! The ones at Corbo's are pretty large and have extra cream on top. They are not too sweet, just perfection 3. If you are looking for something sweet, you can choose between M&M cookies, Reeses cookies, and oatmeal cookies, and all the gelato selections, to make your own ice cream sandwich. These are HUGE and are a steal for the amount of dessert you get. The cookie and gelato are both the perfect consistency; not all places can pull off the ice cream sandwich but Corbo's can! There are some day-old baked goods for sale, but I've never tried. There are tons of cakes in the freezer if you need a last minute birthday cake, such as boston cream pie cake and one cake that looks like a brownie cake (instead of cookie cake). You would have to be an odd egg to not find something you like here. In addition, they sell some imported Italian items that I haven't even seen at some of the local Italian grocery stores in Little Italy, such as certain Italian licorices and pasta sauce. This place is the perfect place for a little dessert, especially if you're getting out of a nearby show. Last night a broadway show was getting out and it was right before Corbo's closed, but they had it well-staffed even late at night and I didn't see anyone really having to wait. Love this Corbo's! It's not only big but it has a lot more selections for pastries and cookies! They have a section of day old pastries that are half off which I love! I personally love this one better than the Mayfield location and it has a lot more space to sit and enjoy the goodies you get! Super clean and the baristas/bakers were delightful!
