KOKO Bakery is an Asian bakery in the heart of Cleveland's AsiaTown. It's a worthy main destination or dessert stop after dinner at one of the local establishments. Don't overlook it during Asian Festival. I visited this bakery on multiple occasions over the years. Most recently I dropped in with my book club. We read books from various countries and this month was Japan. Everyone was excited to go to AsiaTown just to check out KOKO. AMBIANCE: This is the second KOKO location. The other location is in Cleveland Heights. This location in AsiaTown is a lot more busy. The bakery is small with one dining area. There are plenty of tables to hang out solo or with your group. I've been here solo plenty of times and last time in the group of 7. Seating was comfortable all occasions. Koko Bakery is open a little later than other places nearby in AsianTown. This allows for more time to catch up with friends or get in a sip of bubble tea. FOOD: Ah, the food at KOKO. Such interesting authentic flavors and great variety! Most guests approach the bakery case (frequently refilled) where you can grab a tray, and make selections. It always gets me in trouble, I get so many things! They have a variety of sweet and savory buns. If self-serving is not your thing or you want to try more items, you can approach the counter to order. Selections feel endless - buns with taro, moon cakes (seasonal), duck egg buns, buns, crepe cakes, Napoleon cakes, mousse, sweet breads, matcha cookies. Let's not forget the drinks - bubble tea and Vietnamese coffee are the stars here. It's a perfect place to experiment! In terms of prices, they greatly vary. The buns will run you about $2-4 per piece. The cake items or cookies behind the counter can be upwards of $6-7. There's a treat for every budget. If you're interested in sweets or savories from the case, visit early. By the end of the day you'll find limited choices. My favorites? I'm a fan girl of sticky rice in banana leaf which the perfect savory treat. Opt in for sticky rice bar if they don't have it on a particular day. I also enjoy going outta control and trying different buns! Last time I tried a moon cake and wasn't crazy about it. In general I love most of the items tasted here. What do most guests order? Definitely bubble tea! SERVICE: The location is pretty high volume. The service tends to be transactional. I always want to know the ingredients, but never feel like I can fully ask here. While not very personal service, the treats make up for it. I look forward to visiting this and other location of KOKO Bakery again soon. I'm usually a frequent guest of Cleveland Heights location but pop in here periodically. I can't wait to get more buns during the next Asian Fest!

This was an amazing experience. We love to try new. And we love to try cuisines thaf we would have never tried or been suggested. So after we stuffed our faces with pizza and bbq on Euclid we needed sweet. Yelp found us Koko. Now there's a lot here and it's like guessing honestly but I don't think we did too bad. We grabbed a chocolate stuffed bun, a pork roll, and a rice/mushroom/pork sausage stuffed...I honestly don't know what it is. New and exciting flavors. Everything was a surprise. I think the biggest hit for us was the pork roll but the rice banana leaf packet was wow. This place has so many unique things. Did not try the boba because we wanted new. I feel like boba is everywhere...but the food, atmosphere, service...thats where this place shines. Cleveland keeps giving me gems.

We usually try to stop at Koko Bakery when we are in Asiatown. Our kids like the bubble tea and buns. Usually the bakery is very busy. This time we were able to walk right up to the counter. The buns are always fresh and they have a large assortment of bakery items and tea options. There don't seem to be any vegan options. The green tea is good and not too sweet for my taste. Parking is available in the lot out front. It is sometimes hard to hear the person at the register because of the plastic partition.

Koko bakery was on my list of places to check out while visiting Cleveland. It's a fairly small bakery but there is seating available if you want to stay for breakfast or lunch. We got here a little late in the day , around 630pm, and they close at 8pm, so almost all the fresh baked pastries were gone, except for a few with ham on them which I'm not willing to risk eating since they are sitting in a non-refrigerated display since the morning, bummer! The gentleman working the counter said if we come in the a.m. it is packed full of fresh pastries and customers, I believe it because from the photos on Yelp and Google the pastries look amazing. I decided on the chocolate mousse cake ($6.95) and a large Vietnamese iced coffee ($3.75). The cake was large enough for three of us to sample, but I could have easily eaten one by myself it was delicious! The coffee was also amazing, it was not too sweet and very strong we asked if we could add a little more cream and it was no problem.. The coffee is made ahead of time and sealed with a thin plastic cover on the top. You basically take a straw and punch a hole in the plastic to enjoy your drink. I had never seen this before but I guess it's a way to make it ahead of time and still keep it fresh. This is a family-owned store and they were very friendly and helpful. There are also bathrooms available for customers. If I ever come back to Cleveland I would revisit this store but arrive early.

It's such a nice and cute place with aesthetic. The drinks were really good and for its price. They were nice and quick with the food and good service.

Fresh beautiful pastries and desserts. They have a dining area so you can eat in or take it to go. I enjoyed their milk tea.

This bakery is very opportunistic for anyone looking for Asian flavors and treats!!! My family and I came in for a quick sweet fix. We tried their egg tarts (delicious) and ordered a milk tea and fruit tea. My sister loved her fruit tea, very citrusy and plenty sweet with only 50% sweet level. My black sesame milk tea was good, but very underwhelming. I think the black sesame flavor was almost too subtle. The service here was pretty quick, and as with almost all bakeries too it's best to arrive early for the most available selection of pastures!!

Love this bubble tea/ dessert spot in Chinatown Cleveland. I am a big fan of their fresh fruit tea, Jasmine tea with cheese foam and matcha milk tea with brown sugar. There are so much more options for brewed tea, fruit tea or milk tea, as well as coffee to choose from. You can add toppings of your choice, adjust the amount of ice and sugar to your drinks. There are home made bakery available (but if you go later in the day some items might be sold out.) They also offer food, tried their chicken teriyaki and it was pretty good value. In the cooler next to the bread showcase has some vegetable and pork buns ready to eat, as well as some snacks and package drink if you are in a rush. There are plenty of seating inside and the place is clean, although it looks quite old. Staffs are very nice. This is a MUST spot to visit when you come to Cleveland

The best boba tea in Cleveland by a long shot! Got the Orange Creamsicle Drink & the Almond Milk Tea and I can happily say that everything was sweet, flavorful, and absolutely everything I look for in a good tea. The place is so cute and spacious so you and a group of friends can stop by for a drink and something to snack on, and the workers were fast and incredibly helpful! Thanks again for such a great experience!

One of my favorite places in Cleveland, Koko's is a bakery located in a little plaza with a small parking lot out front. The prices are insanely affordable, the service is ridiculously fast, and their buns are so so yummy. I bought eight buns, a coffee, and a Vietnamese iced coffee for around $24. The buns were all delicious. The Vietnamese iced coffee could've been better but it was still drinkable. The inside is bright and airy with a few tables.

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The bread was fresh and crusty, there were two small strips of tofu that had maybe been dribbled on by hoisin sauce at some point, some lettuce and jalapeño slices, and carrots. The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.

We ordered the Napoleon, Amaretto Square, the Gerbaud, and Apple Linzer. The Napoleon was a 10 out of 10. We are one in the car and went back for more. The texture was great. Flaky, creamy, delicious. The Amaretto Square. Was good as well. Not too sweet, beautifully made. The Amaretto flavor wasn't as good as some others I've had. Maybe it's the type of flavoring/Amaretto used. The Gerbaud was definitely a crunchier dessert. Again made beautifully and has great flavor. The Apple Linzer. Another hit. The filling and Crust were perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. Service was great. Obviously this place has been around for a very long time. They know what they are doing. Only thing I would say is that it needs a facelift. Maybe not for locals but coming from out of town the look doesn't make you want to come in. Nor does the way the pastries are show cased. It just all feels run down. Not a place I would ever visit or offer good from ordinarily if I hadn't read such great reviews before going. We all eat with our eyes first.
