When I try out a new place i default to taro to get a baseline idea of how I'll like it. The tarot flavor and boba texture were both pretty solid.

I love supporting small businesses and having a boba store in the west side! Fun fact, one large is $6.50 but you can get two for $10 so that's a good deal! I really enjoyed the oolong and earl grey boba teas. They had great tea flavor and were not terribly sweet (similar to 50% sweetest you can choose at a store in Asia town). Some people may not like that but it does make the drink healthier. Love the options and the owner fits the store vibe.

I'm from Michigan and have been looking for a boba tea to get while I travel to Ohio for work. While driving today I saw the sign out front and decided to stop. Tried the Brown Sugar milk tea with tapioca boba and the mango fruit tea with mango popping. I would really recommend the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca. The tapioca boba came warm like they were fresh (I'm assuming they are). Both drinks weren't overly sweet. The service was great as well. I'm assuming it was the owner. He was patient with the couple ahead of me who didn't know what they wanted immediately. The shop is also environmentally friendly as everyone gets a reusable cup & lid. They still use plastic straws tho. It's a great effort to reduce single use plastics that most boba shops typically do! Great job Emo Friend! Lastly the inside is decorated as you'd expect by your Emo Friend. It has CD sleeves on the walls, Record sleeves, Posters, motorcycle jackets, and more. There's also a Marshall speaker playing some tunes. I'd go back and I recommend the Brown Sugar Milk tea with tapioca boba as my favorite so far. 5/5. Thanks

If you like bubble tea, you must visit this hole in the wall. Whatever you're doing it can wait. Go get boba! I never thought milk tea and punk rock would pair so well.

Taro bubble tea was delicious and how cool are these cups!? Highly recommend.

The best boba tea I have ever had! The owner is very friendly as well and you can tell he really cares about the product that he makes.

Also ordered the potato and cheese "corn dog" which was a fried block of cheese with frozen diced potatoes on the outside. It was hot and greasy but ok, but my stomach will not be happy later as it was H-E-A-V-Y..... And finally something called a Tiger Sugar Dirty Latte which was an iced coffee with a TON of brown sugar and boba in it....super sweet. I couldn't finish it. I can't imagine people going here in a regular basis, but as a treat to get the mochinut I couldn't finish see folks going every once in a while! Other things to note, the service was a slow, but the corn dogs are made to order and was fresh and there was 1 employee, so that's why. And the music was super loud and not "my speed" as I am a little older (in my 50's) and not really keen on rap music with questionable lyrics blaring in my ears! LOL.

Only one staff member :( The woman working answered all our questions and gave recommendations when we asked. I got the cinnamon mochinut. It was SO good! I loved it. I got the cheese and potato "dog" which didn't have a hot dog in it at all, which I was grateful for a no hot dog option. What's better than fried cheese and potatoes ?! It was HUGE! And tasty. Not something I'd ever get again though (I'm a healthy eater and as you can imagine, this was very heavy!) But was a fun, carnival type experience. I got an iced boba coffee which was good but nothing to write home about. The service was really slow, but there was only one staff member doing everything by herself. I just felt bad for her. The rap music was blasting so loud, so it was a little odd for me haha. Overall, I wouldn't really ever comeback. But those mochinuts were pretty tasty and unique.

I have to say I'm a little nervous to write this review as I have seen on Google that the owner…read moredoesn't take negative news very well. But here goes. My husband and I stopped in to get coffee and breakfast for his birthday - we have never been and like trying new to us places. I was quite frankly confused by the whole place Java is in its name, but it seemed like Java was one of the last things that was on the worker's (I think it may have been the owner) mind. As the Java was already premade and all she did was add pump syrup to it! But anyway, it was fine. We also ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches (to go) Our total bill for 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches was around $44 - I don't know exactly, as I didn't get a receipt. But I did question the prices as I thought it was a bit high. Our bacon egg and cheese sandwiches were $15 each, coffee was $5 each. I think there may have been an up charge on the GF bagel to make up the difference. Honestly, it was my husband's birthday so I didn't really pay attention to the pricing. So food/drinks were ok. The croissant itself, which was homemade, was delicious! The store itself was a little schizophrenic - a little bit of everything, handwritten signs, furniture having all different kinds of chairs and what not, backwards signs. And seems like they made a little bit of everything food wise too, I saw Indian, Lebanese, Vietnamese, and Italian foods there. But NO VANILLA LATTE - in a JAVA bistro ha ha ha. Here's where I think it fell off the rails for me: the owner was REALLY REALLY pushing her Pho and meatballs, AND........also unsolicited was giving me weight loss tips, She was telling me about intermittent fasting and healthy eating, etc. I felt very uncomfortable at this point and couldn't wait to get out of there.

What a great lunch! Relaxing and enjoyable Everything was…read moremade fresh and delicious. Thank you Carlittta.

What I most love about this restaurant is their collaborative Lakewood spirit. They are part of Bunts to Birdtown (IG buntstobirdtown) which is a local business collaborative of businesses on Madison Ave in Lakewood. The businesses frequently host fun events - shopping crawls and scavenger hunt (such as today). I love that Thai Thai is part of this little business community and stays involved in Lakewood's social scene. I dropped in at Thai Thai for Bunts to Birdtown scavenger hunt. It was my first and much anticipated visit. The restaurant is currently not fully open and has a limited menu. Limited menu includes baos and bubble teas. It opens for full service again on Friday, August 1, 2025 (full menu and table service). The restaurant is small, has few tasteful Thai details (such as Bangkok skyline art) and neon Thai Thai sign. It's on the trendier side. My order: - Baos with roasted pork. -$6 for 2 - Good value and size! Meat was tasty and well prepared, but Bao was light on the meat. Bao had soggy bottom. - Thai bubble tea - $6 - Traditionally with milk, but they were out of milk. It was totally fine with me. Bubble tea tasted like light peach iced tea to me. It was good, but bobas were soggy. - Taro bubble tea - $6 - Pretty Instagrammable lavender color. Subtly sweet. Soggy bobas. Service was really friendly and welcoming. The owner told me that they just returned from Thailand. So it's amazing to have an authentic spot in the city! I'll stop by when full service will open and try other options on the menu to get the full experience!

We ordered the Tom Yum soup, Red Curry with chicken and Pad Kee Mao with tofu. The Tom Yum soup was great. Very flavorful and still hot after picking it up and taking it home. The red curry was super watery and flavorless. The chicken in it was very bland and the curry really had no flavor. The pad kee mao was a little better, but still not as flavorful as other Thai spots. There wasn't any spice to anything, but I wasn't asked about spice levels when ordering so that could also be on me for not saying I wanted it spicy. The veggies in both the curry and noodles were cooked really well though. There are definitely better and more consistent Thai spots in the area, so not sure that I will be back unfortunately.

We were both craving sushi and something more hearty. And so, we had a feast complete with sushi, ramen, and bowls. Loved every minute. AMBIANCE: Casual eatery with raised ceilings, modern lighting, and comfy booths. There is a robot waiter delivering your food. The space is always very clean. I love how trendy it looks! The space is equally comfy for groups snd solo dining. FOOD: I'll admit that I tend to be very picky about sushi. There's only one place I frequent in Cleveland for sushi. That's until I added another place to my list - Funshi. There's a huge selection of sushi - more traditional choices and fancy creations. We ordered Tuna Roll ($5.95), Salmon Roll ($5.50), and Alaska Roll ($6.95). Each roll generously comes with 6 pieces. The fish is very fresh and has large portions. There are no excessive ingredients added (like veggies). Sushi is five star eat! I also ordered Curry Beef Bowl ($15.99). I based this experience on a previous visit - tasty huge bowl! Curry Beef Bowl wasn't my favorite. It was too spicy. I tend to eat very mild foods. Still it was a very generous serving. The waitress mentioned that Beef Onion Bowl is a similar dish, but less soupy. My mom ordered Tonkotsu ($10.99) which is a ramen with chicken cutlet (other proteins are available). Huge portion and so hearty! Don't miss out on the rest of the menu - bubble teas, bowls, ramen, appetizers, and deserts. The food is really made with top quality in mind. SERVICE: I was very impressed with service during my visits. Service is excellent. You are genuinely greeted upon entrance. Waiters are super attentive, responsive, and friendly. If you're not feeling especially social, you can order via QR code at your table. You don't see this top notch service much anymore! My mom and I loved our dinner. Days later we're still eating leftovers. We hope to return soon and try the desserts! Actually saving room for desserts next time!
