I got an accident and my car was totaled. Originally, I thought it was fixable the people at police collision repair.

I brought in a car with a little ding in the door; it's almost 3 weeks later and I'm still waiting--and still with no guarantee of when it will be ready. A typical auto body repair takes 4-10 days. Balise is front-loading their job inventory with too many jobs--because they know they're getting paid by an insurance company either way, so there's no urgency. Get the customer in at any cost, get those papers signed, then make 'em wait. They can't just blame it on insurance companies "being slow"; this was a 2-day job, 3 tops. And if you didn't have the parts and insurance co. signoff, why have the customer bring in the car? This is how these businesses operate (but oh they'll make excuses). read more

I want to start this review with WOW. I never had an experience so pleasant in such a difficult time. I was so upset with my car being damaged and was welcomed kindly by Shawna who is absolutely amazing! I felt so comfortable leaving my car in the hands of the team. Wandson Santana was absolutely amazing at keeping me posted with updates and informing me on all of the steps that my car was going through. If I ever need anything done with any car ever again or need to recommend a place to fix your car, Balise Collision Repair would be the first and only place I'd consider. DO NOT GO HERE!! I was directed to Balise collision repair in September 2024 when my car was hit from behind. I decided to go with Balise as they were on my insurance company Nationwide's referral list. I brought it in for a repair to the bumper. I picked it up and there were metal shavings in the trunk and it appeared as though no one put it through a car wash. When I mentioned it to the manager he said "we don't do special cleaning as the insurance company will not pay for it, but you can have this services at an additional cost." The next day my trunk would not close, an alarm went off preventing me from closing the trunk. When I called Balise they had no idea but said to bring it back to them. Eventually I was able to close the trunk and brought it back to Balise. They took it into the garage and came back 15 minutes later stating "its fixed." No apologies!! They did take pictures of the rear to prove to Nationwide it was not their fault. The next day it happened again and when I called they recommended I return the car back to them. I called my mechanic who said when they replaced the bumper they triggered a sensor that prevented me from closing the trunk. He repaired the problem. I had found balise collision through toyota's "certified repair technician" auto collision section on their website, and was expecting high quality work. I figured that being a certified specialist with toyotas it would give me some comfort in the fact that my car was in good hands but it was not. Although the work was decent at first it took several months, just to gauge it was in November I had a collision with my front end of my car and I didn't get it back until January. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they were just taking their time on my car. Not much communication with why it was taking so long. I called and they said that my car was being detailed and I could pick it up later that day... in January, and then proceeded to tell me that it wasn't an option anymore that day because the headlights weren't fitting. Just not understanding why they would hide the truth in the first place.... finally though I got my car back and it looked good just about 3 months later. Fast forward to mid March the front bumper looked like it was starting to pop off. I immediately called and they told me that I could bring it in to get it checked out. So I did, not that it's their fault but mind you i live a good amount away from this repair shop, and I only went there in the first place to have toyota quality repairs. I got in and they told me to wait a bit for the manager, she came out with a technician and felt underneath the bumper... assuring me the only reason it was popping out was because of the fact that i am "hitting too many pot holes and scraping the bumper". She advised me to just "pop it back into place" when it pops out and to not worry because "it's not gonna fall off". At this point I believed what she was saying and shrugged it off, I also brought to their attention that they messed up the lock on my door and the inside portion was wobbly, but that was something minuscule (still shouldn't have been overlooked to begin with) but was fixed. Now it was May, and the bumper is falling off seriously like the whole side was out and clips weren't even remotely holding the left side in place. I called, they told me to bring it in. Same manager told me the same things convincing me that it was my fault. She told me to pop it back in again and that if I really wanted I could use auto body tape to hold it together. Then told me she could take some photos and send it to her appraiser to have them estimate the cost of repair. About a week later no word, took a couple phone calls to even receive word back. Then they finally sent the email $1300 for a bumper repair... even though they have a lifetime warranty... Although they had insisted time in and time out that it was me that caused it, and I was starting to believe it... it is not completely true. It's the workmanship combined with the driving if anything. I do not hit pot holes like crazy, and the whole time that I have had my newer car pre-collision I have never had my bumper simply just pop out like that. And the shooing away this collision center has done to me instead of trying to help has been upsetting to say the very least. Overall I would not reccomend balise collision unless you would like to wait several months for your car to come back just okay. The length of the review is to warn those who might be in a situation like me, they are not better just because of their toyota certification. I had contacted and sat down with another collision center and they had informed me that balise was just shooing me off without a care. and in contrast with their customers, they come back to this other collision center and they are always willing to help them out because of their lifetime guarantee. balise collision is nothing close to that. read more

So I was in an accident a while back and had damage to my bumper. I was referred to Blaise for the repairs. The repairs took longer then expected but was happy with the results. A month later the bumper was separating from the vehicle. So I called and they let me come by and fixed. Days later the product that they used seemed to have expand and is now visible on both sides of the bumper. I am the only owner of this vehicle and am unhappy with the quality of the service provided for the price payed. read more

It's a collision center, so you're probably not coming here in the best mood. I needed a fix for the mom mobile and they took great care of me - and my sweet ride. Pretty much. They finished the work in the time promised. Got the arrangements for the rental all ironed out and had my loaner wating when I dropped off. I sprung for a deluxe detail job for the minivan while it was in here (if you own a minivan and have kids, you understand the splurge). The detail job fell waaaay short. The cup holders were neglected as was the carpeted, rear compartment. They graciously refunded the cost of the detail, but still was disappointed that I didn't get the results I was looking for. The front office was polite and the assigned shop appraiser was pleasant. This place is an authorized Toyota shop and my insurance company covered everything. Not a wow experience and definitely wouldn't go back for a detail job. I would've gone lower on the rating because of my detail issue, but because they took care of it with the refund, the customer centric service balanced my experience out to a solid three stars. read more

Other than the ladies at the front desk this little guy was very arrogant and I left crying. If you want support, guidance and professionalism don't expect it here. This is the third repair I have had done by Belise and their work has aleays been excellent. They are a factory certified Toyota repair facility and it shows. Stay far, far away from this business. There are numerous issues with our truck repair, many still unresolved. Our insurance company is beyond frustrated with them as well. The truck went in for pretty significant repair work back in January, 2023. There were delays, okay, understandable. When we finally got it back in March, it had zero gas in it and didn't even make it to the gas station. To this day, the valance was never installed, one of the fog lamps doesn't work, the air sensor for the tire doesn't work and these issues were all communicated to the manager right away. They have told the insurance company that they have left messages on more than one occasion which is completely false. We are now in July and our insurance company is trying to get this all resolved. The most disturbing part of this was the fact that the spare tire (which is a full size replacement) was missing when we picked up the truck. The manager completely dismissed this when it was explained to her. We assumed they removed it during repair and would at least check the shop for it. She immediately said she was 100% sure they put it back without even humoring us to see if it was there. Well, we are 100% sure it was there when we dropped it off. This entire experience was horrible and still ongoing. I was going to wait until after everything was resolved to leave a review, but at this point I'm not sure it will ever be completed. Let me start out by giving credit where it is due, the girls at the front desk are super nice and super helpful, I'd give them 5 stars but the quality of my repair I'd give a 0. I should have listened to the customer who warned me as I walked in to drop my car off "this place is terrible, don't have your car repaired here!!" When I went to pick up my Toyota it was a complete mess... once my car was "finished" they told me to come at night right before they closed to pick it up.. that should have been my first clue. I was a little taken aback when I got to my vehicle the windshield had words written all over it in marker I had to wash off myself in their parking lot so I could see out the windshield and drive home. The exterior and interior of my car were filthy(I keep my car very clean, it's not even a year old), there wasn't even a floor mat inside. I didnt think much of it at the time bc I was just happy to finally get my car back (the parts for my repair were back ordered which was NOT their fault, so it took a while for my car to get repaired). I drove straight home and put my car in our garage. Once in the light, my husband and I noticed all these VERY OBVIOUS white scratches wrapping around the entirety of my car that were NOT there when I dropped my car off. All we could think is this HAD to be some sort of mistake, there's no way a reputable repair shop would return a customers car in this condition... maybe it wasn't finished yet? I brought my car straight back when they opened the next morning and my service advisor came outside and took pictures of the damage to compare them to their "pictures" when the car was dropped off. He called me about 10mins later to tell me that the scratches were there when I dropped the car off. I asked him for a copy of these "pictures" and he has yet to send them to me (I've called and asked 3 more times and still nothing). So finally I called my insurance adjuster and explained what happened and SHE told me the scratches were NOT in the pictures the adjuster took and it was clear that these damages occurred while it was in the shop. All balise needed/needs to do was buff out the scratches THEY MADE and they are refusing to do so. Realistically, my car now needs to be completely repainted but I would be happy with a simple buff job. even with the evidence as shown in the pictures from my insurance adjuster, balise collision is still fighting me tooth and nail (when they're not ducking and dodging me) on this going on over 2 months now and refuse to take any responsibility for the damages. The amount of time and effort they've taken to argue with me on this, it would have been much easier and less time consuming to just repair the damage that and they'd have one less dissatisfied customer. I'm hoping that after elevating it to this level to try to get through to them that they will contact me to rectify the problem, but I'm certainly not holding my breath. read more

UPDATE: BALISE TOTALED MY CAR. 5 months after repairs, I was stopped at a rotary and the car suddenty would not go faster than 10 mph. Obviously, I took it to a different repair facility for an analysis. After a head to toe inspection of the car, something that Balise never did, I was told the check engine light should have been on, but because they didn't hook the electrical up correctly, the light didn't go on. There was still damage left to the front axle, and what's worse, they mucked up the front and rear differential, putting a strain on the engine, by taking both the front and rear axles off to get to the crossbar and incorrectly putting the axles back. To make matters worse, one of the axles was drilled into a component of the engine and started to leak oil. When they sent the field tech from Allstate to inspect the car, he said with confidence that every repair they matched up to what was causing the car to fail was performed by Balise and there were some repairs that should have been made and weren't. I had to retain an attorney to deal with Allstate, who eventually totaled the car and paid off the rest of the car loan. And surprise surprise, Balise did not pick up the phone once or return any messages that were left for them to answer or acknowledge the absolute hack job they did to my car, either by my attorney or Allstate. We also found out from this process that Balise was the entity that removed itself from Allstate's "Good Hands' program and not the other way around. A real and honest business would have let me know this instead of taking their frustrations with my insurance company out on me and my car. So if you want your car to come back to you Frankensteined and in bits n' pieces, by all means, take your car to Balise and the stack of mojóns that works there. read more

I am looking for a collision repair shop. I come across Balise Collision Center. I am looking at the reviews the ALL the positive reviews are from SEVERAL years ago. What is going on boys no one has anything good to say about you in the past SEVERAL years. I know I guy who took his car there recently it took Balise over a month to fix a bumper and then it was not put on correctly. When the guy tried to get them to fix it they gave him the run around. We can be sure the insurance bill was paid or they would have been a bit more attentive. His bumper is still not fix and they are still giving him the run around 2 months later. If you are smart avoid this place like the ebola. They do not know what they are doing and they are only interested in the cash. Customers are not welcome. read more

I had minor front end damage as the result of hitting one of Rhode Island's giant potholes. Balise was a pleasure to work with. They communicated with me from the time my appointment was scheduled until the work was complete. They arranged a rental car through Enterprise, and I was able to pick up and drop off the rental at Balise. The process couldn't have been easier. They did a great job on my car. I even asked them to look at some scratches on my trunk caused by the straps of my bike rack. I thought I would need the trunk re-painted. When I got my car back, the trunk was perfect! I would absolutely recommend Balise Collision. I was rear ended at a stop sign and the impact made me hit the car in front of me so damage front and rear. It was an easy process, they handled the insurance and I didn't pay a penny out of pocket. (it was the other guy's fault). But not only did they do the repairs but detailed it up. It looked like a brand new car. And it's not just cosmetic stuff--they really seemed to be concerned about the integrity of the frame and the safety of the car and making sure the repairs were done correctly. Went in for an estimate that was required by my insurance company on my car. Was told I could leave it there while they fixed it by two mangers. Said I just need an estiamte and could they please look at it. "Sure, just leave it and we get you a rent a car, whats your CC?" wtf! I just need an estimate, after 10 mins of them telling me about special Subaru paint and really giving the hard sell they left and another appraiser came. They finally appraised it which took 20 min but just gave me a paper copy. After repeated attempts they never emailed me to give it to my ins firm. Dont go there! They made it real uncomfortable and never did their job! read more

I stopped by with a small paint issue on my Chevrolet Cruze, and the guys immediately set to work, not only buffing out the problem, but washing the entire car -- and turned me out free of charge. After 1 month of having my brand new bug, I got into an accident causing roughly $14,000 of damage. I needed a whole new front end and transmission and a bunch of other stuff. I have no idea how the universe worked out that I ended up at Balise (I'm from CT) but I couldn't have been luckier. Brian Stone was so helpful- he aimed for two weeks with a weeks max for turn around time. My car was ready within that time frame (closer to two weeks)- the car was as good as new- it looked beautiful, the work was so good you would never have known my brand new car was close to being totaled! My boyfriends uncle has been in auto body for a million years and he approved the work. I am so grateful they worked on my car. They are honest, reliable and willing to help in anyway. If you go to Balise- speak with Brian, he's super helpful and really good at his job. The receptionists are knowledgable and very friendly. DO NOT BELIEVE ALL THESE REVIEWS! After my experience I strongly believe many of these reviews are fake. My '13 Jetta was rear ended and the other insurance company took fault. I was able to pick my repair shop and decided to go with Balise because of their glowing reviews. I was told it would take 3 days for repairs (fine and dandy). I dropped it off on Wednesday, and expected to pick it up on Monday (they're closed Saturday and Sunday). Monday comes and I get no phone call to come pick it up, so i call around noon. Upon asking the woman who picked the phone up, she put me on hold, came back shortly after and said she's not sure the status and said a supervisor will call me shortly. I waited 4 hours with no return call, so i call back. The same woman picked up and said it will not be ready today, when i asked why, she said she doesn't know and that her supervisor will call me (didn't that just give me butterflies). So of course, after not receiving a call on Tuesday, i called Wednesday about 1pm, and was given the same answer, it's not ready and the supervisor will call me (Amy? i believe was the supervisor, I'm bad with names). THURSDAY i get a call about my car, FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY, saying my car is ready, Balise couldn't even pick the phone up to tell me that. I call Balise to ask when i can pick it up, they tell me they don't know yet, and will call me when its done (this is at around 10am). Again, i don't receive a call, and I have to call them at 4pm (they close at 5:30pm and its a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from my work) and the woman says "oh yeah its done, you can pick it up whenever you want". Which is fantastic to know, and if i had not called, i probably would have had to wait another day. Upon arriving at Balise, i noticed there was no additional work that required the extra 3 days, still the original quote for only 3 days, not 6. The car looked great (or so i thought) and took off, about half way home it got dark enough to need headlights so i turned them on, and got an error for 2 blown taillights (i wasn't about to turn around and cause fuss for $2 worth of bulbs). The next day (sun was shining) i go to pop out my taillight assembly, when i notice there's multiple paint imperfections on the replaced parts, 2 very noticeable bubbles and 2 areas where it looks like someone brushed up against the paint and then just clear coated over it. ONTOP of that, whatever GENIUS "expert" decided to wash my car, doesn't know the fundamentals of detailing a car. I don't know if he used a worn out mitt or sponge, or used dirty water, but it looks like someone went over my car with 220 grit sandpaper. THERE were FINE SCRATCHES EVERYWHERE even the freshly painted pieces. My heart sank when i saw this in the sunlight, i have before and after pictures, and it will take me 4 hours to buff it out (detailing long enough, i know for a fact i wont be able to get more than 75% of it), and i still cant touch the new paint for another month or so. If i had taken this to another detailer, it would have cost around $200 to fix their mistake. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR HERE AGAIN, and have been and will continue to tell people who ask to stay away from Balise as a whole. Sandra at the front desk was kind and patient, and the work they did on my car was really amazing. My car was in terrible shape after living in Canada for the past three years and doing countless 7 hour drives back and forth to RI- it was filled with the residue of kid-road trips, crumbs and spills and general filth- a real disaster. I nearly fell over when I picked it up- it looked like a brand new car, inside and out. Not a speck of dirt or dust, spotless carpets and mats, and the leather was perfect. The exterior was incredible as well, so shiny, waxed, unbelievable. I had been dreaming about getting a new car, and now it feels as if I have one- for a far lower cost!
