If you are fortunate enough to sit outside do It. The view is amazing. The menu is awesome it's on an iPad so whatever you are interested in you tap on it and it will show you a picture and what drink you can pair with it. After she brought our Moscow mule and cosmo she brought out a vase with two roses in it but the water was pink and bubbly. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my daughter had the mahi tacos. This was our second, annual visit to Baleen. We had a beautiful table on the porch overlooking the sunset. Christopher was an outstanding server. I would request him again. This place is absolutely gorgeous - I'd highly recommend a sunset dinner and sit outside and enjoy the beautiful sunset & ocean view. Food was delicious as well. I had the chef special blackened grouper that was served on top of delicious, creamy risotto. 3.5 to be fair. That lobster ! Omg it was amazing! Wish it was bigger. Actually i wish all the portions were a bit bigger. I had the filet mignon and asked for medium well, and received it well done. It's like WHY! But i didn't send it back, i hate sending food back and making other guest feel like they have to wait for me to eat. I asked for a lobster tail (which i didn't see on the menu) but saw in pictures and they added to my plate with no problem. For $24 it was amazing but wow lol , please give me a bigger portion for that price. The homemade bread was delicious. Everyone was great, nice, and pretty quick. I wish I could rate them higher because it's not like i disliked anything, but they ruined my steak by cooking it well done. I even described i want a pink center, brown around the edges. Our family of four ate here for my husband's birthday. We sat outside on the patio with a view of the beach. The view was breathtaking, we had a 7 pm reservation to be able to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately we sat directly in front of a tall bush which was directly in our view for where the sun was setting. Our waiter was very good, he was super attentive and helpful. My husband ordered the New York strip and was highly disappointed as he compared it to a steak at Longhorn Steakhouse and for the price it was a huge disappointment. I had a filet which was very good and cooked well. My son ordered the special, a wagu hamburger with gold leaf bun and caviar on top, which he said was fabulous, just wished we would of been told the price up front since we found out after we got the bill that it was a $50 hamburger. A little bit of a surprise. Our bill was $700, we didn't order any appetizers or desserts and everyone drank water except for two people in our party ordered a cocktail each. The only reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because the service was great . But for the amount of money we spent food was not good. The only thing that was good was the dessert . This place was amazing. Beautiful beach and sunset views and so romantic. The food was incredible too. Service was a little slow, but I liked the relaxed pace since we wanted to take our time and have a nice romantic dinner. The octopus appetizer, blackened grouper, and seafood pappardelle were all absolutely delicious. Bread was a little overpriced but still really good. Our server was so nice, and had great food and wine suggestions. The Pinot Grigio was a perfect pairing to our meal. I would absolutely go back here again if I come back to Naples. read more

Somthing has happenned to one of our favorite places and not for the good. Dinner last night started off with a not pleasant experience from the hostess station. Kept waiting once while hostess chatted with another worker who then informed her she had a customer. Came back few mintes later to same hostess feeling ignored again and another hostess that took forever to locate a table for us even though it was only ten minutes after opening ...who gave the two of us a table for four instead of the many tables for two with better sunset viewing. Think the best tables are reserved for hotel guests as a table for four in front of us had reserved sign but remained empty for the first hour we were there. Waiter semi attentive and seemed bored with his job. Matter of fact all employees seemed bored. Food still good but double the prices due to current situations and no longer offering a price fix menu. If there is a next time we will go to the bar and skip the front desk and wait staff and enjoy the same view with same quality food. read more

So terribly disappointing. This was to be our highlight meal of our Naples vacation. We had a 7:45 rez but were told if we came early we'd "probably" be able to be seated. We arrived at 7:15 and ordered terribly overpriced drinks out on the beach. I got a $15 (with tax and tip $20) jalapeno-infused margarita that was barely drinkable. We were finally seated at 8:30 with a cursory apology and offer of free drinks or dessert. When I looked at the menu, the entree prices were $6-$8 more than the menu that was on the restaurant's OWN website. They were already in the high-$30s-mid-$40s and now it was pushed to mid-$40-low $50s. That's unacceptable. At least update your own website. Oh, and bread service was $9. Luckily, just before we ordered a squall rolled in and high winds started blowing cutlery, glasses and plates off the tables as rain began falling. We took advantage of the weather to leave and find a different place to eat. So I don't know anything about the food, but the management and operations left much to be desired. This was a perfect dinner in a beautiful location. Located right on Vanderbilt Beach, we made a reservation to sit outside and celebrate our upcoming 27th Anniversary. Mario did a great job taking care of us all evening. He was charming, attentive, easy pace and helpful. He described the food with great attention to the ingredients and explained the preparation well. We started with the bread, which I highly recommend. I make focaccia bread myself and there is nothing like hot, fresh from the oven but this one was equally delicious. There were firm but not crunchy and hard smooth breadsticks with just a hint of garlic and delicious slightly sweet yeast rolls. I ordered the prix fixe dinner, lobster bisque was my starter choice, then I had the shrimp risotto and finally key lime pie. The lobster bisque was delicious, it had sizable chunks of meat in a delicious, well seasoned broth. The risotto was amazing! Perfectly cooked, 5 generous pieces of shrimp with sautéed onions, just enough fennel to make it unusual without being overwhelming it also had mushrooms (which are not my favorite to eat, texture) but I like the flavor it brings to a dish. The temperature of the dish was great and the seasoning was balanced and delicious. Hubby had their signature dish of blackened grouper over a risotto cake. This cake was also very good, more of a lemon and light refreshing flavor it was a great match for the light handed blackening on the very fresh fish. He also had the chocolate kahlua dessert, they called it a cake but is was really a dense soufflé with roasted peaked marshmallows on top. It was so good! Honestly shocked that reviews are not higher here, as my friends and I were blown away by Baleen. This was the best meal we had during our week in Naples. Baleen toes the line of being able to have a special occasion/romantic meal, or taking your parents to thank them, or taking your friends to splurge and pulls off all scenarios. The views are breathtaking; watching sunset over the beach, while dining here, is extremely memorable. I thought the chef's signature grouper was outright divine. Typically, I am more of a "meat guy", so this dish practically changed my life. The fish was clearly fresh and cooked to perfection. All of the accompaniments were intensely flavored, well seasoned and balanced, and well thought out. The risotto cake was crispy, juxtaposing the supple and moist fish. The citrus beurre blanc added fat, while simultaneously cutting said fat with acid (and everyone knows acid is a fish's best friend). Oh and there was some crab thrown in there, to boot. Most of my friends had the same dish and felt the exact same way; there was a lot of moaning at the table, lets put it that way. Additionally, my other friend mentioned being over-the-moon with her risotto, and all the apps and sides we shared were delicious (especially the octopus). I would say this is my favorite seafood restaurant in all of Naples. I chose this location while visiting family based on the reviews on Yelp and Open Table and I was not disappointed. It is right on the beach and you can literally sit with your feet in the sand if you prefer although I chose to sit indoors. I ordered the black cod special with risotto and it was one of the better dishes I had in a long time. In fact it was the best dish I had on my whole trip to the East Coast. We stayed at La Playa and after a long day of swimming we didn't want to drive anywhere, So glad we ignored the negative reviews and decided to try it out for ourselves. Coming here you will get top notch service and the restaurant, dinner and service are all have an upscale feel. We came here once for lunch in bathing suits and once for dinner. Not once were we made feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. The restaurant and patio are absolutely gorgeous!! Our waiter was awesome and so was everyone we ever came in contact with. Appetizers- bread basket and tuna tar tar.. bread was soft, moist and had a great flavor but was way to much foe 2 adults and a 5yo. Probably a good problem to have though. Tuna tar tar was incredible as well. Dinner I had the grouper which was the chefs special, My Husband had the steak which he said was delicious and we shared the wedge.. delicious!!! The maitre d was arrogant we were told 20 mins for our table and watched 2 couples with reservations after us and who arrived after us be seated before us. When I inquired that it had now been 50 mins said they were still not able to seat us. The drink service was slow expensive and the cocktail I had which I have had many times before had shrunk to half the size. On top of which my wife was charged $5 to have her drink strained instead of on ice. I then on the way out found the restaurant manager who also had an air of arrogance and I complained. He asked me if I would like to be seated now. No i wanted to be seated at my reservation time and not have to constantly get up and see if we had been forgotten. We live near Baleens have gone there regularly on and off season and taken many large family groups etc We have also spent each Valentine's Day there since moving to Naples 6 years ago. The perfect spot for a tasty breakfast on the beach! Located on Vanderbilt beach this restaurant provides a great breakfast with good variety in a low tourist area. Very upscale at the La Playa resort with exceptional service. Our server went out of the way to make sure we had a great time and provided roses/dessert for breakfast for my friends birthday. They have a propane leak on their dining porch overlooking the beach. It is important to remember that propane gas has no natural odor. Propane companies add a chemical called mercaptan to give it its distinctive "rotten egg" smell. So if you enjoy eating your breakfast or dinner with that rotten egg smell, I would recommend it. Otherwise, additionally to the distasteful dining experience, there is a SERIOUS safety risk to guests with an unidentified gas leak. As part of a large group, I have to say the service was on point. Never obtrusive but we never lacked for anything. We sat outside on a nice breezy evening, hoping for a spectacular sunset, but the clouds had other plans. Most of the group (actually everyone except Moi) opted for the Prix Fixe menu so there was lots of Lobster Bisque and Shrimp over Risotto. A couple of peeps had the Swordfish which turned out to be the loser of the choices. One thought it was fishy and one didn't like the sauce. I had the chance to try the Shrimp and Risotto and while good, I'm glad I opted for the Squash Entree which I think is vegetarian. It was very tasty and had a variety of flavors and textures. I also had a side of Lobster, Mac & Cheese which comes with some smoky bacon chunks. This might make the 10 Best Things I Ever Ate list. Baleen, is in one word, AMAZING! We came to celebrate our friends' birthday so we really didn't read the reviews before hand like we usually do. But after our visit, it is a MUST that I write this review on this incredible place. The restaurant is located inside the LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort in Naples, Fl. The restaurants theme is a tasteful beach vibe that isn't tacky. The views are gorgeous, especially during sunset. PS they also have private beach dining for those interested. So romantic! They have indoor/outdoor seating. The menu is limited but spectacular! My husband and I shared the Tomahawk (delicious prime slices and served at the PERFF temp) and a side of lobster Mac & cheese. His Old Fashion was perfect and my Cabernet from California was a great compliment to our dinner. Our friends had Filet mignon and the birthday girl had the salmon (last two dinners not pictured). Our mouths were ALL in ecstasy with the deliciousness of the food. Simply incredible! Our waiter, Mario (pictured & yes we asked him to remove his mask), was superb! So friendly, attentive and personable. He truly made our evening even more enjoyable. Mario brought a birthday rose for my friend and some DELECTABLE desserts (pictured).
