This is a must-try restaurant if going out to eat in Mount Shasta. The wife and I have eaten here at least 20x and have only had one sub-par dish. Chef knows how to make and use sauces. Plating is always nice. Many wines by the glass. Very good service and friendly staff and owners. Mount Shasta is fortunate to have many good restaurants. This one is a little more expensive than the others on main street. If you want a burger, go to one of the other places. If you are looking for an elevated meal in an unpretentious environment check out Baldovinos. This is the best place in town and I would put them up against the top restaurants in big cities. And, if you are from one of those big cities you will think the prices are low. Secret - not on their website as of writing this review. The Sunday brunch menu is thoughtfully curated with a nice mix of savory and sweet options, all sounding fresh and seasonal. We started with a bottle of Campo dei Sassi Prosecco (extra dry, Treviso) and with pomegranate and orange juice mimosas. The Prosecco was crisp, bubbly, and perfect for brunch--light enough to pair with everything without being too sweet. For the main event, I went for the daily special: Crab Cake Benedict. It was outstanding. Two perfectly poached eggs sat atop a crispy crab cake and thick cut sourdough covered in a rich, glossy hollandaise sauce with capers. The herb-roasted potatoes on the side were golden and perfectly seasoned--crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. The dish was beautifully plated with microgreens and herbs, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. My husband ordered the Cubano (also a special), which came as a pressed, golden-toasted sandwich loaded with ham, melted cheese, and a perfectly lightly fried egg on excellent local sourdough-style bread. It was served with more of those fantastic herb potatoes and looked incredibly satisfying--crispy, gooey, and classic with a brunch twist. Portions were generous, the service felt attentive and warm, and everything came out hot and fresh. The menu also had tempting options like Tomato Basil Mozzarella Scramble, Chive Biscuit & Sausage Gravy, Avocado Toast, Croque Monsieur, and sweets like French Toast and Dutch Baby--plenty to choose from for future visits. Overall, Baldovino's delivers a high-quality, flavorful brunch in a charming setting. Great upscale addition to the Mt Shasta area! We were luckily able to drop in on a Friday night as we arrived slightly earlier than the dinner rush. We were seated at a table and wow were the chairs super comfortable! Service was great. We ordered the gem salad, which they say is enough to share but I definitely could have eaten my own and it was very good. My entree was a glazed yakiniku lamb shank off the specials menu. The lamb shank had a delicious asian glaze and came with kimchi (which was too spicy), cucumbers, and plain white rice. I also ordered a glass of red wine from Côtes du Rhône which was fantastic. Stopped in to Baldovinos on a Friday shortly after opening without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. There were a few other open tables as well as bar seating but I would recommend to make a reservation just in case. Had the gem salad to start which had a delicious dressing I could have just eaten more and more of it.. followed by the halibut with risotto. I loved that the fish was topped with a huge mound of fresh herbs that really elevated each bite. We had a lovely shared meal last night at Baldovinos. The service was excellent and the food came out in a well timed manner. A Spanish Rose' accompanied our shared plates of grilled lemon shrimp with pillowy, freshly made focaccia followed by the cod entree and a most lovely and delicious, strongly reccomended, mixed melon salad with cucumber, mint and frisée. For dessert, we indulged in an almond tart with fresh mango and a yellow plum. The chairs were so comfortable that we continued to enjoy our wine in this relaxing, glamorous atmosphere. We called ahead to get a reservation for six at 7pm on a Saturday evening. The space is small and it was popular, so definitely glad we got a reservation. We each ordered a different menu item and were able to try almost everything! The appetizers were good, but the main dishes were the stars of the show. The desserts were good, but the cakes were a bit on the dry side (flavor was excellent, just a different texture than what was expected). The service was exceptional! Our server was attentive and was able to make recommendations and answer any questions we had about the food and drink menus. I had a nice dinner on my trip to Mt. Shasta. The wines by the glass list is fantastic. The Sancerre is worth the price of entry. I had a few small bites and loved everything except the croquettes. I was expecting them to be fluffy inside like arancini but they were dense, and had a little too much nutmeg. The salad and shrimp were great though. Overall an enjoyable experience. Birthday dinner with my husband. The restaurant wasn't too busy for a Sunday so the noise level was low. Our waitress was very accommodating and let us linger over our champagne before we ordered. We each got something different so we could compare notes. The filet minion was wonderful as were the chicken and pork chops. But my husband had the flank steak and thought it was a little chewy. My only other complaint is the wine list had no Oregon wines (which we love). Also the prices are a bit high for Mount Shasta. All in all a pleasant visit. read more

We came here for my mother's 81st birthday. She was so excited to try this restaurant! Our dinner was exceptional! Beautiful presentation and absolutely delicious! This restaurant is a lovely addition to Mount Shasta. However, our experience wasn't very good. Our server didn't take our drink order and was serving other guests that came in after us. When she finally approached us, she asked if we were ready to order our dinner. We said we still needed to get drinks. When asking questions about the menu items, we couldn't get clear answers. She couldn't describe the entrées either. No birthday dessert was offered but when we ordered our dessert, we ordered two of the same cake, and one brownie. When she returned, she stated they only had one of the cake we ordered, so she brought us another one to "try". She didn't ask, but put it on the bill. The cake was so hard and dry that my dad thought it was frozen when trying to cut it in half to share with the "birthday girl ". My son ordered a brownie that was so dry it crumbled when he tried to put his fork through it- It was completely inedible. Only the brownie was taken off the bill. Once the credit card was ran, she placed the receipt and card on the table and never said a word. No thank you, no goodbye. read more

Underwhelming! My spouse and I went in for a special night out at an 'upscale' place. It has received great reviews. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Water was provided and we were left alone for about 10 minutes by the waitress who seemed flustered, altho there were only about 4 tables occupied. I flagged her down for a wine list. She seemed unfamiliar with the wine choices, so I ordered a cabernet, which was quite good. We were again 'neglected' while she chatted somewhere. Getting her attention, we were able to order. Our shared Caesar($17) was somewhat limp and uninspired. The roast duck confit($32), which we both ordered, and shown on the website as nice, breast slices, appeared as a leg/thigh with a serving of bland mashed potatoes, a dollop of unknown and 2 small carrots. Overall the meal was disappointing. The food was about average, despite claims of "an immersive experience", and the service lacking in attentiveness. If one wants a pricey pseudo-upscale nite out you may want to give this a try. Otherwise, try another location. read more
