a menu for a restaurant

Appears where all the locals go. There was a line to get inside. We waited probably just 10 minutes for a table, which wasn't terrible. The wait staff was nice, but appeared a little overwhelmed. The restaurant is a little out dated. Could use a fresh coat of paint and replacement of stained ceiling tiles. The food was decent. We got the fried chicken burger, which was good. The fried okra was good and fresh. Was disappointed in the crab cakes. The menu said "fresh from the gulf" thinking I was going to get me some good crab cakes, was disappointed to get imitation crab cakes. Would not recommend this from the menu. Kids had the fried shrimp (not fresh from the gulf) and a grilled cheese which was good. The only conflicting thing is that the restaurant identified and named themselves a bakery but they had only had 3 options in the desert options. No pastries, fresh bread, or desserts. They cater more like a diner for lunch and dinner.

Took my Dad to Bakery Cafe today because he wanted a diner-type breakfast before driving back to his home in Dallas. Bakery Cafe served that purpose for us, but it wasn't anything special and wouldn't get on my list of places I'm planning to visit again soon. It is a small-town diner/cafe, through and through, nothing more. Think simple breakfasts, black coffee, & burgers. Their menu wont surprise you, their dishes wont wow you with presentation or taste, it has a musty/old smell about it, & it may take longer than you think it should. But you can be fed here.

I seriously don't know what took me so long to finally dine at the Bakery Cafe in Aransas Pass. This place was established in 1929!!! Our waitress was so nice and they seem to have plenty of workers! The place is very well kept! We went old school. We started off with an order of basic nachos...refried beans with melted cheese on top of light crispy corn tortillas and an order of beer battered onion rings!! Both were delicious! The onion rings were full of flavor, light, crunchy and sweet. Mom ordered herself a simple bowl of delicious chili and I ordered a Homemade cheeseburger with fries! Everything met our expectations! Been a long time since I've enjoyed a true original homemade cheeseburger! Slice of apple pie for later!

Mushy nasty fired oysters.

Butter Churn If…read moreyou're anywhere near Aransas Pass and you haven't eaten at Butter Churn, you're flat-out missing out. From the moment you walk in, you can feel it -- this isn't some corporate chain going through the motions. This place is dialed in. It is probably one of the most put-together restaurants I've ever had the privilege of visiting. Every detail feels intentional. Clean lines, modern touches, spotless floors, organized buffet, upbeat energy -- they hit every mark. The décor has personality without being overdone. It feels like a true family restaurant -- warm, authentic, and welcoming -- but with a level of polish most places never achieve. The service? Exceptional. Real smiles. Real hospitality. You're not just another table. You feel seen and taken care of. Now let's talk about the brisket. Unbelievable. I had to ask how they were doing it, and Mark was more than happy to walk me through his process. When brisket is smoked low and slow -- and they smoke theirs for 20 hours -- here's what happens: * The visible fat cap mostly renders down. * The intramuscular fat melts. * Collagen breaks down into gelatin. * The melted fat soaks deep into the meat fibers. So by the time it hits your plate? You don't see fat. You taste rendered fat and gelatin inside the meat. For $14 all-you-can-eat lunch, I kept waiting for the catch. There isn't one. I probably ate close to a pound and a half of brisket myself and still wanted more. Tender, perfectly seasoned, smoky without being overpowering -- the kind of brisket that makes you stop mid-bite and just nod your head because you know you found something special. You walk out wondering how they're not charging double. Everything about this place reflects pride -- pride in the food, pride in the service, pride in the entire experience. It's consistent. It's clean. It's efficient. And that kind of consistency is rare. This is only my second five-star rating ever. That's how serious I am about it. I apologize for not getting a picture of the brisket, I got too carried away with eating it. I live in Corpus Christi, and honestly, that's probably a good thing. If I lived any closer, I'd be there every single day. If you want authentic, high-quality food served by people who genuinely care about what they're doing -- Butter Churn is it. Five stars. No hesitation.

The salad bar is off the chain...anything you could want! The service was awesome, we definitely felt checked on but not in a bad way. It's a cute place that appears to have crowds at every meal.

As for the food/drinks, they were solid. They make their sandwiches and then refrigerate them and then panini them when you buy them. I am not usually a fan of coffee shop sandwiches but gave these a chance because they're actually made here. PRISTINE! tasty! My husband loved the chipotle chicken wrap so much that he went back for another one after devouring the first. The only bad thing was that their chai tea base is tooooo sweet. I literally asked them if they use a sweetener, to which they said no. They did acknowledge it was sweet and agreed to give me some hot water to water it down. Overall- very great experience. We will be back next time we are in port aransas.

The atmosphere was fun, the staff was super friendly, and the young crew working there were clearly hustling and doing their best during a very busy rush. That said, the wait times were just too much for me personally. I waited over 30 minutes just to get to the counter, and then another 25 minutes to receive the rest of our order after the drinks came out. My son absolutely loved his mocha Frappuccino and ham & cheese croissant, so that was a win. Unfortunately, as someone who drinks coffee regularly, I wasn't especially impressed with my drink, and my everything bagel came out extremely over-toasted and almost gooey inside. I really don't want to knock the place because it genuinely has a cool vibe and hardworking employees, but the long waits and food quality just made it hard for me to want to come back. If you have patience and don't mind a slower experience, you may enjoy it more than I did. I will say that the breakfast items are super overpriced.

The atmosphere was nice, quiet, and very clean. The lunch menu was somewhat limited but still offered a good variety of options. We started with the shrimp cocktail. He was also very gracious in helping us when our food was a disappointment. I started with a cup of the lobster bisque and I am so glad that I did because it was DELICIOUS! I don't want to know how much butter went into the process, the perfect amount for maximum flavor for sure, so let's just go with that. Then we ordered the pear salad and shrimp and scallops. This is where it took a turn. The portion on the salad was not shareable, not even a full dinner portion for one. The presentation of the shrimp and scallops was lovely, but the shrimp and scallops themselves had ZERO seasoning or flavor. Not cooked with butter, not even salt or pepper. The only flavor came from the ginger carrot coulis which was nice but very gingery. The risotto was cold. Very cold. The only redeemer on the plate was the sautéed kale which had a lovely flavor and was nice and warm. I ultimately sent the main back and got a bowl of the bisque, which again-was a delight. Big hunks of lobster meat and creamy. Would go back for drinks and the bisque, but would not waste time on entrees.
