We found this perfect little coffee spot, in Poth, Texas, on the way to Houston. It was so charming and unexpected that we had to pause for a coffee moment. Southern Coffee House had an extensive coffee menu, a drive through, and enchanting inside and outside seating. It is hard to believe that this itty-bitty place is in the middle of a small town and not one of the bigger Texas cities. I ordered one of their deliciously flavored coffees from the drive-through, but I had to stop and check out the place. I was completely won over. I have to say that in addition to the excellent coffee and amazing décor, it had the most charming and likeable employees. These two young ladies went out of their way to give us more information about Southern Coffee and a tour of place. They were so sweet, friendly, and helpful, I would go again based on service alone. I really think that this is an ideal stop and will make it a point to visit again whenever I'm in the area.

The interior is bright and spacious and has tons of comfy and cute seating options. Staff were very nice. The drinks are way too sweet, though. Even for me; and that's saying something! Even my Mom's almond joy coffee was very sweet.

I work in the oilfield. Well, not actually in the field…read moreanymore, those days are in the rear view mirror, but an acct mgr for an oilfield service company. And that job lets me still run the roads sometimes and the best part is all the little towns I go thru. This time I was passing thru Pleasanton, Tx. And lunch time. A quick search of Yelp and I was pulling in the parking lot of Cafe Chris. A chic name for a good small town restaurant. A lot of reviews mentioned the chicken fried steak and I haven't had one in a long time. So I went with the CFS sandwich thinking it would be smaller, as I'd already seen a few delivered to tables. So I was wrong. The sandwich has the same CFS just on Texas toast. First it's huge. Second it's not all breading. There's a lot of meat under that fried layer of batter. I immediately got a to-go box. Dinner for later. It was an awesome meal. Got some cream gravy for a little dipping sauce. And the dinner later was oh so good. Can't wait until the next trip thru. Later.

The customer service was unacceptable…read more Our experience at Cafe Chris in Pleasanton was extremely disappointing, and honestly, the customer service was the worst part. I had an issue with my chicken-fried steak that I was sharing with my sister, so I sent it back to be replaced. No big deal mistakes happen, and I was completely understanding about that. What was NOT okay was what happened afterward. While we were waiting, the cooks repeatedly looked over at us and laughed. Whether they were laughing about us or not, that is how it came across, and it made us extremely uncomfortable. The waiter's tone and attitude only made the situation worse. Then the owner started talking to us from across the room, which caused other customers to look over. When she finally came over, we explained calmly how the situation made us feel. Instead of simply acknowledging our concern, she responded by saying, "Well, I told the chef not to laugh and not enjoy their time and work." That response completely missed the point. Nobody was asking the employees to not enjoy working. We were asking for basic professionalism and respect toward customers. Then there was the bill. The main item was removed, but we were still charged for the side, and the pricing did not add up correctly. For the prices being charged, I expected much better service and attention to detail. And honestly, the part that pushed this experience over the edge was being told by the owner not to "spread" this or tell other people about what happened. If you don't want customers sharing their experiences, the answer isn't to tell them to stay quiet it's to handle the situation better in the first place. I wasn't looking for an argument or trying to cause a scene. I simply expected to eat my meal, have a normal customer experience, and leave. Instead, we left feeling uncomfortable, blamed, and disappointed. Food can be fixed. A bad order can be replaced. But the way you treat your customers is what people remember. I would not return based on this experience, and I hope management takes the feedback seriously.

I found this spot on Yelp and was super pleased with the service, the selection, the strong WiFi, the decor, and the overall vibes here that was super welcoming. Parking was easy off the street and there was plenty of other storefronts to wander & window shop as I made my way to Tillie's. This whole area is great so anywhere you park is going to be close. For my coffee I really enjoyed the iced Golden Ticket coffee I got that included a caramel and a hazelnut flavor with a nice house made cream added to the top. It was so tasty! For food it was hard to choose. Everything from "brekkie", or breakfast, to lunch looked so good as listed on their menu. I ended up with one of their "Handhelds" of the Besto Pesto that included sliced turkey, homemade pesto (nut-free too!), mayo, and some delicious house made pickles. This sando came with a side of house made chips as well and was the portion for my lunch. Since I was driving back to Austin (an hour+ away) I decided to get through all of what was on my plate and not take any leftovers home but I could've!!! I really loved their decor and the long large and beautiful wooden community table they had near the back of the cafe. I saw a whole group of women (more than 6 of them!) gathered around, chatting, and having tea. I assumed they were locals because like them, I would be hanging out here all day with my laptop and/or friends all day if I could. Highly recommend coming in and checking out what you can find to have while here. From coffees, breakfast, lunch, and even refreshing tasty sparkling drinks you will find something you want to have and probably keep coming back for in the future. When I am in the area again, this will definitely be part of my plans in stopping into and eating at again.
