My husband and I were en route to the beach and decided to stop by for coffee we could enjoy while we heard the waves crash onto the shore. I read where they had some gluten-free products, and I saw rave reviews for the coffee. For starters, the baristas are so sweet and kind. They offered to clean the panini press to toast the bagel since I have cross-contamination issues. The coffee was very flavorful, and they use Udi's bagels (good choice). Though there were a few customers when we first got there, it was getting quite lively when we left. You could tell this was a local hotspot. We'll be back! read more

This coffee shop was super clean. Loved the ambiance, although some of the furniture is pretty worn. The plants everywhere are a nice nod oxygen. :) There was a steady flow of people in and out, so it's clearly a local favorite. The scone was tasty and Hug in a Mug really feels like that as you sip away. Delicious. The service was mid, though. Not friendly. But not rude. And not listening. Asked me multiple times what scone I wanted and still gave me the wrong one. That being said, it was cordially exchanged when I asked. I'd definitely come back - everyone has a bad service day now and then. read more

Coffee Waves has always held a special place in my heart. We used to visit the Port Aransas location all the time, so when we saw the Corpus Christi spot while on vacation with our three kids, we were excited to stop by and support a place we love. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to those past memories. The two baristas working that morning didn't acknowledge us when we walked in, didn't greet us, and spent most of the time talking amongst themselves. When I politely asked how much longer our sandwiches would take (after they had been in the press for about 7 minutes), I was met with a look of frustration--as if I was bothering them just by asking. We left without a single "thank you" or "have a good day." The lack of basic customer service made it hard to justify staying longer or spending more, especially with our kids in tow. I didn't even end up ordering a coffee, which says a lot, since I was really looking forward to one. It's disappointing, because this place has meant something to us in the past--but based on today's experience, I'll be grabbing my coffee elsewhere. read more

Really liked the gelato here! Great considering every other ice cream place in port an only does bluebell lol. Only thing I didn't love is the flow of things- you pay first then look at ice cream and order, makes the process kinda slow since you can't look at flavors u til you get there. Chocolate tasted kinda fake but the vanilla was amazing! I also probably could've chosen something more adventurous as they had quite the range! We stopped here on the way home from Port A because it was rated 4 stars on Yelp. The black coffee they served my husband was old and cold, basically he couldn't drink it. He took it back and they made a fresh pot which he said was good. My mocha latte was really good. The restaurant looked clean and the plants were a nice touch. We each ordered a sausage, egg and cheese croissant which she warmed up in a panini press. However, when we unwrapped them they were barely lukewarm. We were in a hurry so we ate what we could and left. Anyway, we were definitely not impressed and won't be back. read more

The refresher was good, but my husbands cold brew tasted old and one of the servers was rude. They have a sign that says no dogs, but clearly had two non-service dogs inside. When my husband was walking our dog OUTSIDE while i got our order, the two inside started to bark. The server proceeded to talk about my husband and dog, and how it was his fault the ones inside were barking. She said all of this loudly enough for all the guests to hear. We love to support local businesses, but people will choose Starbucks over this place solely for the customer service. read more

My husband and I were wanting to try a coffee...we love trying coffee shops while out of town. We stopped here and I had no idea what I wanted! I asked Anthony for help and suggestions and he was very sweet and helpful! I chose one of the options he suggested and it was declious! I got an iced white chocolate mocha with cinnamon and my husband got the Grasshopper Frappe, which was also very good! I knew I wanted to try the gelato...but there were many yummy options! I picked the 3 scoop and gave poor Anthony 5 options of ones that sounded good to me. He chose 2 out of 3 for me...and they were all so good, I was sad when I finished it! Wow! People and employee openly violating Nueces County mask requirement! I understand when in a restaurant the mask requirement does not apply because of eating/drinking, but when my girlfriend and I visited today, there were 10+ people in the establishment not eating or drinking anything (only using wifi) and wearing no masks! What was even worse was an employee (red haired girl) sitting and chatting with a group of 5 of her friends and then went behind the counter to serve another patron without washing her hands and did not put a mask on until she was behind the counter. The owner should be ashamed of having their establishment run this way, sad. read more

I'm not from the are, but back home in San Antonio I always scope out the best coffee places. This made my list! My entire stay I went here to grab some gelato or a cup of coffee! The atmosphere is very nice and in some locations they have book, board games, or magazines for you to enjoy with your drink or food! Our newest location here was launched in March of 2015 in Flour Bluff, in order to market to the local high school and NASCC military base as well as the greater Flour Bluff and North Padre Island community.

My favorite was the grasshopper since it was loaded with ingredients and tasted almost like an ice cream instead. I also sampled the caramel macchiato iced latte and this was just ok. As other reviewers noted, they do not like you to sample the gelato prior to ordering, which I don't really like. I think they just need to have another person working behind the counter. Inside is lots of seating for either your small or large groups.

I really wanted to keep loving Bien Mérité, but after three attempts, I'm extremely frustrated. Each visit has involved inaccurate and constantly changing wait times. My first attempt on 4/10 around 2pm in the afternoon. It was just me and my 15month old baby, there was only 2-3 tables occupied and I was told 45 minute wait with an almost empty dining room. I asked the hostess due to me being 9 months pregnant and having a toddler if I could just at least sit down while waiting the additional 45 mins and was told no. So I totted out my baby and myself, bought pastries and left. The second attempt I was quoted an hour , waiting the full hour and checked back in with the hostess stand only to be told it was going to be an additional hour, on top of what we already waited again. Third attempt (Sunday, April 26) waited a full hour, checked in once again with the hostess and was told it is now going to be another 90 minutes on top of once again the hour we already waited. I understand waits happen, but this level of inconsistency feels disorganized and disrespectful of customers' time--especially when expectations are set incorrectly from the start. I'm just asking for transparency and honesty here. It's disappointing because the space is beautiful and I've always supported this business but the waitlist management and homestead stand seriously needs improvement on honesty and management of times.

I've had the apple (apple was okay) and blueberry and it has such a strange perfume-like flavor. The sweet dough on both tastes a little like perfume or cleaner. Not pleasant. Prices here are good with savory kolaches about $2.50 each and sweet ones at around $1.75. I will come back for savory goodies but maybe not for the sweets.
