Bakery 1908 is fairly new Asian Bakery spot located in the Colonialtown, Chinatown-Orlando area. Sadly I came here right AFTER having a full meal elsewhere. Bad mistake on my end. But that did not stop me from trying out their drinks and baked goods. The drinks were delicious and the pastries and desserts were fresh and delicious. The inside gives a nice ambience and vibe. A nice scent of fresh baked goods once you walk in. A nice spot to come here for drinks and small eats with friends and to chill and relax. Service was great. All the staff, especially the ones behind the counter was friendly and attentive. It's abit on the pricy side in my opinion, but still worth it. Such a cute spot! Came here after a recommendation from my nail salon. Omg, I wanted to try everything! But my favorite was the ham and onion roll. It was so savory and delicious. I also ordered a mango tea. I found it really sweet but overall still enjoyed it. Next time I will ask for it to be less sweet. I definitely want to try some of the desserts next time. It was a busy Sunday morning when I went but the employees were working quickly to get the orders out. Everyone I encountered was friendly. The variety and options of ready baked goods is great here!! More than just that l, they have a nice variety of dim sum options and boba tea too. Pretty much a one stop shop for a variety of options! I ended up getting some Phoenix Claws, Summer Dumplings and Chive Dumpling Soup. The Chive Dumpling Soup was my favorite and hit the spot! The Summer Dumplings were pretty and green but wanted more texture inside. I have a soft spot for chicken feet as a dim sum options so had to get the Phoenix Claws! I came here one morning to try some of their morning buns and pastries that their social media page had been tantalizing me with for the past few months. I was told that this place was like bakeries they have in Asia, and I later found out that it was actually very true when I visited Japan in March of this year. You walk in, grab a tray and some tongs, and place whatever you want from the mind-boggling amount of options around you onto the tray. Then you take the tray to the register and pay for what your eyes thought wasn't too big for your stomach. The ambiance is super chill and peaceful. Soft lights, nice people, comfy seating, beautiful murals. I could spend all day here just munching on buns and the dim sum that they start serving around lunch time. But this trip was a grab-and-go visit. I had to get to Disney early, but I wanted something delicious for my excursion on the I-4. So we grabbed six buns to share, a coffee each, and we hit the road. I don't remember the exact names of what we got, but there was one either imbedded bacon and hard-boiled egg, one filled with taro cream, one with pork floss, a chocolatey one, one with very cheesy hot dog pieces, basically there's literally something for everyone here. My favorite one was the cheesy hot dog one. My least favorite one was the chocolatey one, surprisingly. It wasn't chocolatey enough for my American palate. Not a bad thing, just a preference thing. And a note, if you've never had pork floss, try it, trust me. Overall, I would have gladly tried all four or five dozen options they offered, but I didn't even try 10% of the available options, so basically I need to come back at least 12 more times and hope they don't get any new ones. Pros: It's such a chill space. Between the well lit, warm pastry area and all the comfy seating surrounded by good artwork, I could spend all day here sipping on their delicious coffee products. I was a little girl living in Japan once, on a US Naval base, and there were bakeries there that reminded me of this one. Really brought me back to my childhood. Same exact set-up and vibes. The buns and pastries were absolutely amazing. Every one was amazing. Cons: No cons. Don't expect everything to be out and ready if you rope drop the store as it opens. They were bringing out freshly basked new buns as we were already shopping around. Tips: You can't go wrong. I love a good bakery so I had to try this place! They have so many baked goods here! I loved all the bakery displays and variety. The inside is so cute! I love the seating area, you could definitely work or relax here. The staff here are really nice and helpful describing the different baked goods. We came a little later in the day so they didn't have everything but still had a lot on display. I ended up getting a vanilla chocolate layered cake. Not too sweet and perfectly soft. I would definitely come back here and try some of the other desserts! They also have dim sum! I really recommend this place, you should give it a try. read more

The Thai Milk tea with boba comes in a cute drink cup. You can order off the digital menu when you walk in too before looking at the treats. I remember when this was a Thai restaurant, they did such a great job decorating the inside. It has plenty of cute sitting areas if you want to hang out when enjoying your food or sweets. The other sweets we got was a red bean bun for $3, a coconut tart $3 and a cinnamon berry bun $3.25. We also got some complimentary cookies for Father's Day too! Place always looked busy. And it was. Ordered up some chicken dishes and the portions were huge. Popcorn chicken was tasty. But a smidge dry Honey Walnut chicken is not what I expected. Only thing honey'd was the walnuts. The vanilla sauce just did not do it for me. We got plenty of leftovers so two meal for price of one it hits the mark. We grabbed some pastries on the way out and the little tart was very good. The filling on the sweet bread was lacking. We had the chocolate lace cake and the dolce deleche (sp?) and there was hardly any filling at all. Very sweet bread but filling was disappointing. I am going to be back to try the soups. Been driving by this place for a while now always waiting for a time to check it out. Finally got a chance to check it out and yes I recommend this place to everyone in the Orlando area as they also just opened one down by Disney Springs on 535 right off of I4 (Exit 68). I didn't really know what to expect, never opened it in Yelp! Theres so much to choose from and you really don't know what is what until you try it, so everything for first time is surprise. They have these sesame cookies that I can eat a thousand of in one sitting. The coconut bread sandwich thing was so good too. Theres a boba and coffee area as well as the bakery. Actually the best bakery I've ever been to. You pick out your bakery items and order your drinks or you can order from the table. The inside ambiance feels really good, the design is clean and open feeling. Now on to the food, every single thing we tried tasted good. The bakery items, the coffee and the food items. Most places you either get stuff that has no flavor or way too much sweet or synthetic tasting stuff. Bakery 1908 is just like your standard Asian bakery serving up classics, like pork floss buns and pineapple buns. Our buns were pretty standard, but I've definitely had better. The chocolate croissant was good, but burnt at the bottom. I wish they had more savory buns that didn't contain pork. My milk tea with boba was great. Their drinks are not too sweet. I would compare the full sugar level here to a 75% sugar at a different boba shop. I didn't get to try any of the cooked food, so I can't speak on that part of the bakery. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was PACKED. Definitely avoid coming on the weekend if you can. Despite this, the check out counter and employees moved fast. I FINALLY make it to Bakery 1908! I drive by it all the time and never stop in but I decided to go for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Boy did I choose the wrong time, lol, it was a madhouse! I almost left but decided to stay because I really didn't have anywhere to be. There weren't many signs telling you what to do, if it weren't for social media I would have been clueless. I did a quick survey to see the offerings and then looped around again with a tray. I ended up with 4-5 pastries and wanted coffee but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to order at the machine or with a cashier so I just opted out because I didn't want to have to wait twice if I ordered with the cashier when I paid. There were plentiful sweet and savory selections for pastries, not everything was labeled which was a bit of a bummer because some of it looked good but I wanted to know what I was getting. They also had some package ready to go goodies but I opted for the non-packaged items. Once done, I got in line which was about 15 people deep. It moved fairly quickly, I think I stood in line for 10 minutes or less The pastries I got were all delicious, I got what tasted like a brioche bun with red bean and it was my favorite. I also got a long bun with buttercream that was tasty. The buttercream wasn't too sweet which was nice, very light. I will definitely stop back in but I learned my lesson about weekends. Bakery 1908 is a great place to grab lunch, a snack, dessert or a boba drink. When you walk in, you can either grab a tray and a pair of tongs to start choosing your own Asian inspired pastries, cookies or breads, or you can wait in line to get creamy desserts in the cold case like Japanese cheesecake or Matcha Crepe cake, or order hot foods and bobas in line as well. The hot foods are all dim sum and are mostly different varieties of dumplings, either by themselves or in broth. We ordered the Wonton Soup, Chive Dumplings, Shumai, and Shanghai Dimplings (soup dumplings). I also got the 1908 Signature Fruit Tea. The hard part was then finding a seat as this place is pretty popular. There are several seating areas from tables to more casual low table areas and even a patio outside. Everything is in nice neutral tones and wood with colorful murals on the walls. We realized our ordering mistake when the servers starting dropping food at our table. We ordered way too much food! All of the dumplings are huge, and packed with yummy ingredients. We could barely even finish the wonderful wonton soup with dumplings and big pieces of bok choy between the two of us. We ended up taking a lot of the food home by grabbing takeout containers along one wall. On our way out, we also purchased a couple of Swiss Roll type desserts for later. AMAZING FOOD AND DRINKS HERE. The chicken dumplings in broth will forever be my favorite paired with the yummy chili oil they put out for all customers. The garlic rolls are banger and stuffed with roasted garlic! I love getting the thai tea from here to drink, and just thinking about the Japanese cheesecake makes me so hungry. Ok but for the real review: Walk in, to your left theres an area where you pickup a tray and tongs to select pastries from the showcase. Each thing is like $3.50-$6, and the drinks are around $6 from the cafe. They do have sodas and other stuff that go for less in a fridge to the left. It's always clean and the bathrooms are also very nice. They assign you a number after you pay and it gets called out over the speaker if you're buying drinks and hot food which takes a while to cook up. Areas are kept clean but in busy times of day you might wanna claim a table sooner rather than later. Overall 10/10 rec for a student looking for a cheap bite out. read more

So happy to see this Asian bakery grab & go concept come to this area in Orlando! In the Viet town area on East Colonial, it fits right in and is a place where anybody can find something that they'll want to snack on. This concept is a bit of a hodgepodge of everything with sweet buns, savories, desserts, dimsum, dumplings, cakes and Boba Milk Tea. Came here before a trek back to South FL for a quick bite with some of my favorite coworkers and friends. We were able to go to the bakery section, grab a tray and the tongs to choose from a wide variety of sweet and savory pastries. We all got something a bit different so we could try a bunch of them. I got the egg sandwich, the donut taro paste bun, and a cheese and garlic knot type of pastry. They were all good but my favorite was actually the egg sandwich- it tasted as good as it looked! When you're done, you can go to the register to pay and also check out their dessert case and more of the menu. It is a bit overwhelming and I wasn't able to order more because I knew the pastries would fill me up but luckily our table ordered more- soup dumplings, tofu, and boba. Everything was really good and you could easily come back here time and time again to get a new thing every time! There's a lot of seating both inside and outside. Parking is very in the lot. I recently had the chance to grab savory and sweet pastries at Bakery 1908 as well as hot dishes and I'm a huge fan now. When you walk in, you grab a tray and tongs and start filling up on the baked goods. I recommend trying both the savory and sweet varieties- specifically, you can't miss the taro doughnut. They have some pre-wrapped goodies that would make perfect hostess gifts as well as breads featuring multiple flavors weaved within the dough. Once you're ready, head to the counter to order savory dishes and/or pay. I recommend the soup dumplings and any of their brothy soups. I didn't get a chance to try their drinks, but they looked SO GOOD and are served in a cute little jar. Overall, a great, bright space, plenty of parking, complementary fruit-infused water, pastries that will compel you to buy more for home, and steamed or pan fried dumplings that don't disappoint. Garlic bun: tasted like a sweet Hawaiian roll. I loved the garlic filling inside and just wish there was more. Luscious and savory with a hint of sweetness from the bun itself. Perfect combination. My favorite of the three! Portuguese egg tart: very rich and creamy but least favorite of all. Theresa tart itself could have been a crispier shell. Pork floss, scallion, and ham: the pork floss had a sweetness to it that I quite enjoyed. Didn't get much flavor from the ham or scallion. Again, the bun was so soft and so flavorful. There wasn't an inside to this one, so all the extras were on the outside only. The bun was delicious but would have loved some of extras as filling throughout. Still thoroughly enjoyed though. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely return to try some more of there creations. read more

The beautiful thing about having foodie friends is that when I know what I know and I'm stuck in my traditional American breakfast ways, I have guides to incredible experiences I may not have otherwise tried. I was in town for work and Bakery 1908 was our final group meal before heading home. I walked in and my eyes bulged out of my face looking around at the incredible variety of baked goods. I landed on a ham and chicken, a chicken and pineapple, and a cookies and cream croissant, which was all only $10! Such a fun experience grabbing a tray and tongs and picking whatever you want. I love a chill and relaxed bakery and this place is no exception. As soon as you walk in you feel like you want to stay and never leave. It was so comforting and inviting. I came around 6pm and most of the goods were gone so I recommend that you come in early . I scoped the sweets but nothing caught my eye. At the counter there were some cheesecakes, tiramisu and other treats and my bf and I opted for a tiramisu and a lemon cheesecake. The cheesecake was so fluffy and melt in your mouth. It was not too sweet which I am glad for. I chose the peach lemon tea and my bf had the brown sugar boba. We both tried each others and agreed that they got the flavors spot on. Sometimes you go to boba places and they either add too much milk or too much sugar but theirs is perfect. The perfect balance of milk to sweetness and so delicious. My tea was amazing and you could see the peach and lemon pieces in it. Great serving as well and the bottle is too cute. My husband brought home dessert from here for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We tried the matcha crepe cake and the chocolate crepe cake. The chocolate one was delicious probably my favorite. The matcha one was very earthy and not very sweet, I would have liked it more had it been sweeter but I'm not the biggest fan of matcha. I'm not sure why it's always dumplings but I am enthralled that this is a standard in our friendship haha). Steamed dumplings and shumai are my fav, and they made my heart smile. But the TAKOYAKI MADE MY HEART FLUTTER. I could eat probably 25 of those delicious, heart-warming octopus balls. The desserts and pastries... oh my gosh... there were SOOOO MANY CHOICES and at such a great price also! My friend had a slice of crepe cake that she let me try. I have never had a crepe cake before and thoroughly enjoyed the texture and flavor. I had the mini coffee swiss roll cake, and it was also good! I took home some buns (taro, coconut, and coffee) as well as a golden onion pastry to have for breakfast. I will recommend that if you take anything home for later that is pastry-like to heat it up in the oven/ toaster oven for a few minutes. It is a cute little bakery, food and beverage hang-out spot. It is an excellent place to go and get a treat and work on creative projects or disassociate in public on your computer. I feel like places like this sort of disappeared in 2020-2022 in Orlando, I am so thrilled to hang out and have a cool drink place like this back AND as a bonus, the bakery items slap and vibe is very chill in here! When I visited it was a Thursday after school hours and this place was loaded with soccer moms and their kids getting a treat. Glad the place is busy, but it was pure pandemonium for about 30 minutes with all the kids in the self service bakery area. After that, the bakery case needed to be restocked and it was a lot less crowded when the kids cleared out. I loved the Japanese cheesecake with house made blueberry preserves and the grapefruit lemonade tea. I got my drink with half sugar and it was still pretty sweet. I absolutely adored this little place and the only thing I would say they might need to work on is telling people to keep their receipt when they go pick up their drink item. I went to pick up my drink and forgot to bring the receipt, I don't recall being asked to bring it and they didn't want to give me the drink until I showed the receipt. Which I understand because they need sure the right person is getting their item, but I think they need to be a little more verbal or put a sign by the cash register instead of by the pick up area. I went here the most perfect time. It was Chinese New Year! So happy I was able to experience the planned dragon dance event. There is such a wide variety of sweet buns and pastries; almost overwhelming but in the best way possible. When you first go in, you help yourself to a tray and tong to select what you like. Then you go to the register, pay and get a number. Additionally, you may also order from the menu that includes a multitude of dumplings and dim sum. There is also a kiosk option that you can use in the case you're not needing anything from the bakery. The beverage options are great; you're able to order drinks with your choice of the amount of sugar-- love! Once we paid for our meal, we sat for about 10mins, our drinks were ready once they called our number. But we were occupied, eating our selections from the bakery- yum!! Shortly, our dumplings and dim sum selections came out as they were ready. Love the different options to get something to be on the go or actually order to sit in . It's very spacious inside so even if it's full you have some room to move . I think I found my new favorite Asian bakery in town! I've had so many friends and coworkers recommend Bakery 1908 and I'm honestly upset with myself that I've waited so long to try it out. There's plenty of seating open, and the whole place is very cute and clean. Half the building is the bakery, and the other half has so many different areas with different table and chair options. I picked up quite a few pastries from the self-serve bakery, and ordered a drink and dim sum from the counter. All of the pastries are authentic and delicious. This joint was jumpin! Very busy and lots of fun! We walked in about 1:15pm on a Friday and noticed right away the tea was buy one get one half off on weekdays so we obviously did that. We tried the peach lemon and the rose lemon tea. One half sweet and one no sweetness and let me tell you they were both pretty sweet. I can't imagine what the full sweetness would be. I ordered a lot so there were some hits and misses. I really wanted to like the matcha mousse and the blueberry mousse cakes but they didn't really have strong flavors. I couldn't really tell the difference between them other than the color. The pineapple 3 piece puff were a lot harder crust that I imagined and the filling was thick. Good flavor but I won't get that one again. The mango pudding cup was delicious. Strong mango flavor and a gelatin type of consistency. The large almond round cake was so supper fluffy but again I wanted a stronger flavor. We have plans to make a nice fruit compote to layer it with or maybe a whipped cream. The turtle bun was my son's favorite because ... it was a turtle. No filling in this one so it was perfect for him. He also LOVED the coffee bun and so I only got one bite of that as he devoured it. The pineapple bun had great flavors but the bottom dough didn't get cooked all the way so it was mushy. Still on the good side of things. The caterpillar roll was again a long bread roll but filled with a light whipped cream. Loved that and would get it again. The coconut butterfly was very well balanced flavor and really pretty.
