I decided to check this place out on a Sunday around 2pm. The parking lot had a handful of available spots. The exterior of the building is very unassuming. I almost missed my turn into the parking lot actually. Lol Upon entering, the interior is the complete opposite. Its clean, white and natural wood decor is inviting. I perused the pastries to figure out what I wanted before grabbing a tray and tongs. I appreciated the label above the trays instructing patrons to give your tongs to the cashier to be sanitized instead of hanging them back up when you're done with them. The label is quite small though. I'm sure a lot of patrons don't even notice it. A larger sign would be better. They have a huge selection! I highly recommend coming with a couple friends and sharing. I grabbed an Ube croissant and Taro donut and hopped in line to checkout. The line was a little long, but it moved very quick. While waiting in line, I checked out the offerings in the cold case near the front door. There were some type of puddings, mousse, and roll-up/swirl cakes. They also have another cold case at the registers with different offerings, which was difficult to peruse since you're basically at checkout. I'll have to take a closer look next time. I placed an order for a Matcha Milk Tea with Drinkable Mochi and paid for my pastries. I sat down at a table and dug in! I would like to preface this by saying I don't have a lot of experience with Asian pastries/treats, so I don't have anything to compare the Ube and taro flavors to. The taro donut was very neutral. It wasn't overly sweet or very flavorful. I really enjoyed the texture of the taro filling as well as the donut. I probably wouldn't get it again because of the variety they offer. The Ube croissant was good. I don't really know what Ube tastes like, but it was perfectly sweet- unlike a lot of overly sweet store-bought pastries/desserts. I enjoyed the texture of the croissant and the Ube cream filling was a nice addition that I wasn't expecting. I thought the topping was the Ube part of the croissant. I would get another croissant, but probably not the Ube one again. The flavor didn't really wow me, and they have so many other delicious flavors to choose from! I got about a third of the way through my donut when my drink was ready. They call out your receipt number over a microphone. My drink came out quickly. The Matcha Milk Tea was perfect! The drinkable mochi was a new and interesting experience for me. The flavor paired well with the matcha. The texture is definitely weird, kind of like slime? I don't think I'd order the drinkable mochi again, but I'm glad I tried it! If you're a texture-sensitive person, this may not be the topping for you though. Finally stumbled upon this bakery after hearing many raves about it. It is located from a previous restaurant on east colonial 50. It has array of parking but limited due to this bakery gets busy. From what I hear this bakery is owned / affiliated with YH Seafood Clubhouse. YH has a good reputation with chinese eats / dimsum. So the bakery is not that big inside as far as seating but have a good array of pastries and chilled desserts. They offer a section on the left for the cookies and savory buns. The chilled desserts are where the cash registers are. You pick up a tray and tongs to handle the savory buns which are tucked in a clear case in which you grab how many items as you want. They offer cookies and egg tarts as well as savory and sweet buns that are filled with fruit and cream and savory ones are topped with scallions, pork floss - ham and corn as examples. The chilled desserts are the sweet rolls, puddings, cheesecakes, layered crepe cakes to name a few. I opted for the following: Savory Buns - Ham and Corn bun was light and fluffy but lacked of mayonnaise and the toppings compared to what I am used to from other asian bakeries. It had a strong herb taste that was sprinkled on top of the bun. I woiuld not pick this again due to lack of topping. The other savory bun had ham and egg topping with shredded cheese. This had more toppings . This had a more dense dough than the ham and corn. This was more of a filling bun. I would not order savory buns here. I rather go to Sun Pearl for the savory buns. As far as Chilled desserts - The Mango Pudding was portioned small for the price. It did have a strong mango taste and a little too sweet. Nonetheless it was good but for the price I would not get it again. The Mango Mousse slice was ok. Kind of bland not enough strong mango flavor. It was not that sweet. It had the mousse on top and chiffon cake on the bottom. It had fruit topping but only a piece of grape and a strawberry. I would not order this again. The Vanilla Crepe Cake slice was my favorite. Thin crepes stacked in between cream and was delightfully delicious - Strong vanilla flavor and a tad more sweeter than the mango mousse. I would order this again and maybe order a whole cake if they offer. This was pricey at $8 a slice. The chilled slices of desserts were boxed in a cute Hello Kitty container. The savory buns were placed in paper sleeves and they first depending on how many items are bagged instead of boxed unless you request a box to carry out your pastries etc. I requested a box for easy transport. Bakery 1908 is not bad they def have competition with Formosa Bakery nearby, Sun Pearl, Tours De Jours, Paris Baguette just to name a few. Every time I visit Orlando, I try to come in for a sweet treat. This is my favorite bakery. When you walk in you can grab a tray and walk through the aisles of different desserts savory or sweet. Love the food! The award winning tofu is next level - even though I'm a meat eater, I get this every time. Their baked goods, breads and pastries are a must take home on your way out. Went here for lunch with my S/O and two friends, immediately the menu stands out as having a good amount of options including vegetarian and vegan fare, including build-your-own options for noodle bowls, which is always a favorite. To the left there is a walk-around display with dozens of different options from savory to sweet, simple to complex, a little bit of everything. The cafeteria-style tray with a simple serve-yourself set up keeps things casual and unique from the display side while also having options for order on the kitchen side for a more transitional restaurant feel. Our group had a little bit of everything from the Shanghai soup dumplings (wonderful) to the bang bang chicken (decent, slightly lacking in flavor but cooked very nicely) to a make-your-own soup that was top notch! We also got an assortment of choices from the display case off to the side. The restaurant was clean and the staff were kind and attentive during the order portion, otherwise they were out of the way and not at all bothersome during our time dining. The ONE comment I have that would've made this a five star experience is that they do not have microwaves or ovens to heat up anything from the display case, so our hotdog bun, pineapple chicken bun, egg and cheese sandwich, and cinnamon braid were ALL cold. Ever had a cold hotdog with cold bread? Ew. This location desperately needs a way to heat up the items from the display cabinet, other than that, this place was great and I will be returning :) read more

Sometimes you just need a honey barbecue pork bun. There you have it. Or you will have it if you get to Bakery 1908 early enough. Because they are delicious and filling and the pork with the little bit of sweetness...chef's kiss! This cute bakery on SR 50 is one of those spots where you'll see a line at the door before they open. The secret is out! I haven't had the soup dumplings yet, but I'm sure I'll return for more of all the goodies. I did score a yummy little Japanese cheesecake (you ALMOST don't want to eat it it's so cute - almost) for my parents and they loved it! There is a membership program in place you sign up for with your phone. They'll even give you a free bun if you write a review and show it to them at the register. This was my first visit and I only got bakery items. I was overwhelmed by choice and wanted to try everything. Since I was traveling g the next day I narrowed it down to coconut bread, chocolate bread, strawberry cheesecake, ham and cheese bread and a package of cookies that I forgot the name of. Everything was amazing! The breads were so soft. Each filling complemented perfectly. The place was soo bust during g my afternoon visit but the team steadily refilled each self service case. First, this place is NOT all the hype. Parking can be tricky if it's busy. However, this was on a Friday morning. Parking was easy. We've driven past here quite a few times and never stopped by. Lol. The only thing this is the service wasn't that great, the cashier will not let you add more sugar to the drink and insisted that it would be sweet enough. I knew it wasn't going to be sweet because mocha flavor barely has sugar. The cheese foam made up 90% of my drink and was so thick. I struggled getting to the coffee portion of my drink. I honestly ended up throwing it out because it wasn't tasting right. Also, they are not flexible about adding cheese foam to other drinks when you could just allow us to add it to a drink and we'll be paying for the addition of cheese foam. Overall ambiance is great and fun and clean. Lots of bakery to choose from and lots of different drinks options. We ordered a quite a few items to try. Totaled more than $100 worth of food. The curry bun was a meh , their egg tart is definitely delicious, the cookie and cream cake is too dry. Their dim sum items are tasty, lots of filings in the dumplings. Their dim sum porridge consistency is great except they put way way too much white pepper in there. We couldn't even finish it due to the overwhelming amount of pepper. Wow! What an incredibly delicious experience. My daughter and I dropped in on our way through town. The Salt and Pepper Chicken Nuggets are delicious- so full of flavor. Huge portion. It's quite comparable to 85C Bakery, but 1908 Bakery's menu goes way beyond. 1908 Bakery offers a range of Asian & European baked goods, cakes, AND savory snacks like dim sum, dumplings, and even boba milk tea. For our visit, service was friendly and efficient, and we enjoyed a Bavarian Bun, Garlic Bun, Pineapple Chicken, and a Ham Roll ($3.25 to $3.50 each). We savored every bite! We did try their Blueberry Cream Cheese Bun, which at 85C Bakery is our favorite, but here, the filling texture is grainy, clumped, and the taste a bit off, so I wouldn't reccomend that particular bun. Another lovely thing we enjoyed was their dog friendly, COVERED patio. It was tranquil and enjoyable along side our delectable goodies. Bakery 1908, right off of colonial dr has a decent sized parking lot for the area, and fairly generous seating area inside, as well as a handful of tables under an overhang outside. Upon entering you may choose to browse the bakery treats (grab a tray and tongs) or proceed straight to a cashier for a beverage/hot food item. My favorite pastry is the blueberry cheese bun. A soft round bun hides a berry-cream cheese center. As for hot food, the 1908 tofu is simply heaven, imagine silky cubes of tofu, fried and dredged in toppings. We like to order a soup item and dip the tofu bites into the tasty broth. The dining area itself is well designed and comfortable.
