Every year in honor of the Super Bowl, I gather some friends and do a big, communal, dim sum brunch. The more mouths, the merrier. This year, we chose Lam's Garden. They often get mentioned in local periodical awards, so I've been meaning to stop by here for a while now. Finally, I had my opportunity. We arrive right when they open, get seated, and get some nice oolong tea brewing while the ladies with the carts stock up and start tantalizing us with their scrumptious dim sum. Fried shrimp, dumplings, shumai, ribs, buns, and my absolute favorite, sticky rice. It all just came flying one after another after another, and it makes life so much better when you can share these delectable little treats with a table full of people. Eating more of one thing means you don't get to try as many things. That's no good. So we came, we saw, we conquered. Ambiance was the nice, stereotypical American Chinese tranquility. Servers were all very nice. And the dim sum were all pretty much on par quality as the rest of casual places like this around town. Overall, this was a very nice experience. Not the best dim sum I have had. The starters we had (fried shrimp and calamari) were way too sugary in my opinion and chewy. We ordered the peking duck- waitress brought it out to show us and then took it back to the kitchen saying she forgot the pancakes. Then she took a long time to come back out with the cut up duck and sides. It tasted all right. I enjoyed the soup dumplings. We tried a dim sum dumpling that had shrimp and some other meat (waiter was so quiet I couldn't hear him) and it was okay. We also tried a tofu wrap and a chewy shrimp wrap that was 90% wrap and had 2 mini shrimp in it. We also got the bok choy and it was okay. Very oily. The spicy oil was good. The hot tea was good as well. Bathroom was clean. Service was sporadic and the dim sum carts were not coming around nearly enough for how many people were in the dining room. The food was okay- I think if I came back I would order off the menu instead of dim sum. We were there around 1pm on Sunday. Unfortunately my most recent experience at Lam's Garden was not really the best. I recently stopped by for a weekend lunch of dim sum with the family, upon entering it was more of a quiet day there with not that many tables filled which was surprising. We ordered a few of our favorites including a few dumplings, Chinese broccoli, and a few fried options. We unfortunately did not enjoy many of the items, as they were either dry, salty or very greasy. I unfortunately felt a bit nauseous after the meal. Not sure if we will be back anytime soon, but I'm just hoping that this was just a one off experience. read more

Pros: Ambiance is nice. Very relaxing and perfect for our annual dim sum brunch. Service was great. Always love that cart that comes around to offer us the delicious goodies. And the food was good, too. Delicious dumplings and buns and other offerings that really are so good. Cons: No cons. The carts weren't as flamboyant as the ones at Peter's, but that's just nitpicking. Tips: Don't get there early. Arrive about a half hour after opening, so they can get the process rolling and have all their offerings ready for you. read more

Such great memories growing up in NJ close to New York City were brought back upon entering Lam's Garden! The nice decor, warm and relaxing atmosphere. Comfy seating in the large dining room. The staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing and accommodating menu choices. Food was fresh and flavorful. The portions were enough to share with others if you're kind enough to. Went for dim sum because they have the carts on the weekend. Not enough people working so service was spotty even thoughbit wasnt really crowded. The food was good but not enough variety. Calamari was super chewy but cha sui bao was on point. I am always a fan of tables with a lazy Susan so they get points for that but its just your basic Chinese restaurant. Hire some more servers and add a few more dishes. I wish more places did the traditional cart service but thanks Lams for at least making an attempt read more

I almost don't want to review this place because it is excellent with the best dim sum I have had outside of San Diego (Kearny Mesa) and Los Angeles, and frankly, even San Francisco. But given the fact that my reviews get decent numbers of views but not enough to really influence patronage one way or another, I will just say that if you are craving dim sum or authentic American Chinese and real Chinese food, you will not find better in Orlando, or at least I have not yet and I have been to all of them. I can't think of a better Chinese sit-down restaurant than this one in Orlando. They have been here for decades and if you are a regular, they know you and treat you like family. The service is always great every time I have eaten here. They are always filling my cup and checking in on our table. They have an authentic Cantonese menu like Szechuan and Hunan specialties. They also offer dinner for two options, hot pot, dim sum and so much more. My go-to is the chicken and broccoli combo plate. I don't like the brown sauce, so I always ask for the white/garlic sauce instead and they always accommodate my request. The wonton soup... okay I know we are all familiar with this one ... but their version/style of this soup is DELICIOUS. So hearty and the wonton noodles are fresh and tasty if you love pork, of course ... which I do. They have a little bit of everything here from poultry, pork, beef, seafood and yes.... I came here alone for brunch one saturday. And the staff were friendly and it was not too crowded. Good food but not piping hot as the small crowd didn't allow enough movement of kitchen food items. Every time my family and I go to Lam's Garden, we are always greeted and seated right away. It is a family-style authentic Chinese restaurant with plenty of seating even on peak hours. We go here mainly for the dim sum but they also have a regular menu where you can order from the kitchen. My favorites are the fish maw soup, honey walnut shrimp, and salt & pepper calamari. Pro tip: there is plenty of parking at iFresh market next door or the back of the building if there are no spots directly at the front of the restaurant. read more

The food at Lamb Garden was absolutely delicious, and we genuinely enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately, our experience at the end completely overshadowed what could have been a great visit. When we received our bill, it was written entirely in Chinese. We simply asked the cashier/host if he could explain the charges in English so we could understand what we were paying for. We were not questioning the amount or refusing to pay--we only wanted to know what each item on the bill was. Instead of helping us, the cashier became rude, raised his voice, and spoke to us in a very disrespectful manner. We felt dismissed and embarrassed for asking a reasonable question. As paying customers, we believe it's fair to be able to understand our bill. Excellent food should be matched with respectful customer service. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience. read more

I love this place! It's far from me but it's the only " hole in the wall" type Chinese food I can find in Orlando, I love how they have cheap lunch specials and I love the authentic feeling inside! Everything is good here! I love the food. The egg drop soup is amazing. The service is very fast and good as well, all the servers help each other out. We were vacation in Orlando during Chinese New Year 2025 - Snake year. We thought to search for a good Chinese restaurant in Orlando. We were far from home, Vancouver, BC, as we are spoiled with good Chinese restaurant with many options. We had an amazing dinner at Lam's Garden in Orlando, FL. So good! . I am happy I made reservations in advance. The service was fantastic as the staff kept apologizing for the wait of the food as it was really busy evening. When the dishes arrived, it was hot and quite tasty. The decor is typical of traditional, old style, similar to many Chinese restaurants on Kingsway in Vancouver. They old us it was nice to speak with us my hubby can speak Cantonese fluently (not me). Near the end, one of the staff (could be the owner) gave us a complimentary alcohol drink which is super nice of him. It was nice to see the receipt was hand written! Lam's Garden is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Central Florida and we were very lucky to dine at Lam's Garden on one of busiest day in the year. read more

I had High Hopes for this place, but it was just your run of the mill Chinese food, maybe a tad batter than some of the takeout places. The environment was a little nicer than most, but still just had that tackiness to it that made it kind of uncomfortable. Service was odd in the way that I feel we were being watched the whole time. I can't explain it, but it was just odd. I felt we were over-served in a way where as soon as you set your water glass down, someone came to refill it, even after a sip. If you're going to do that, just feed me too! The food was good. The Szechuan Chicken and Shrimp were tasty and the Orange Beef was crispy outside and tender outside. The crab Rangoons were also good, but none of it was the best we've had. I think it's a one and done for me as there are plenty of other asian restaurants in the area which are much better. This was our first time coming here because we saw a recommendation on YouTube that was a 9.5 out of 10 which is pretty high for Chinese/Dim Sum. We shared the Crispy Shrimp Balls (I think it they were on the Dim Sum), & they were AWESOME!!!!! My hubby ordered the Sweet & Sour Pork. He really enjoyed it, but said he would have liked pineapple (ah well, no big deal). I got the Walnut Shrimp which was FABULOUS!!!!!! Both our dishes came with our favorite sticky white rice. The Service from the moment we walked in the door to the time we left was wonderful. The ladies obviously just wanted to make sure we were well taken care of. We went back to celebrate my grandson's birthday. His favorite restaurant for the string beans. I came for lunch to have some dim sum. I wasn't aware that the carts only come out on Saturday and Sunday. They offer it other days by menu only unfortunately. This is one of the most average Chinese restaurants I can recall. I don't know how old the fried rice is. It must be made in big batches since I couldn't substitute their roast pork fried rice for my usual vegetable fried rice choice. That's never a good sign of fresh quality. The fried rice tastes like maybe it's been reheated from a few days ago, very bland and dry. Pouring the remainder of my tiny cup of Wonton soup on top helped a little bit, but not enough to mask the stale taste. The Hunan Beef was very decent with a little bit of spice and a nice variety of vegetables in a slightly watery sauce. The wonton soup could use some more flavor. It did have some chopped scallions and shredded roast pork slices in it so I must commend them for that. The service is a little confused about when to bring out the soup and entree. They apologized profusely for the small error. No big deal. I would like to come back for dinner to try what I really came here for, the DIM SUM. I hope that it is on par with the restaurants in NJ, PA, and NYC. read more

I had dinner here during the week. We were a big group and seated at two large round tables. Each table had our own server but they worked together to take care of us. The menu was huge and offered a big variety, including the typical dishes you would see on the menu at a Chinese restaurant. I ordered a shrimp dish and my husband ordered the beef curry. The portions were good and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. Once we were done, the staff was very helpful in taking group pictures. They took the chopsticks away from me & gave me silverware, so i had to ask twice to have chopsticks back. The water cup i received was dirty. The food was fine. Tasted just like take out chinese. Nothing unique, flavorful, or special like other comparable restaurants in orlando. I received pork in my Buddha's delite which was the only Vegetarian dish on thd lunch menu. The table next to me ordered the same & i overheard their confusion as well. I unfortunately was there much longer than a typical lunch service. The most bizarre thibg was the staff wore black bow ties & white button ups. This spot didn't give off black tie vibes. Its decor is clean, but old & falling apart. Favorite dim sum in Orlando! They serve cart-style on the weekends. Service is always very prompt, even if the dining room is full. The dining room is old fashioned, but I think it elevates the traditional dim sum experience. The food is soooo good, and nicely priced! I stopped by the restaurant for lunch on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. I've patronized the establishment many times in the past and this review is based solely on their lunch special menu of that day. The restaurant has a full lunch and dim sum menu available however, I opted for their lunch special combination plate. There are approximately twenty different combination plates available with most selections at the $9.95 price level. The combination plates come with your choice of soup (wonton or egg drop), rice (steamed or fried), and a vegetable egg roll. I opted for the Chicken Lo Mein plate with Wonton Soup. The Wonton Soup came out rather quickly and was accompanied by a bowlful of Fried Wonton Strips. Upon tasting the soup, the broth was lukewarm...the real kicker was the ground pork in the wonton was cold. Definitely not a good start to my meal. When the main meal arrived I was expecting a better experience but, unfortunately it didn't come to fruition. The Fried Rice and Vegetable Egg Roll were bland and the Chicken Lo Mein was a little too oily for my taste. This particular day may be a one-off as to the meal I was served as I plan to continue to visit Lam's Garden in the future however, next time I will select items from their dim sum menu instead. read more
