After eating several days at Disney World, we were really craving Asian food. When we saw Taiwanese food 30 min away, we didn't hesitate to come on Christmas Day. When we arrived, it was empty so I was a bit skeptical. The place is old and worn but a good amount of seating. The food was outstanding. I was able to get food I love that reminded me of dishes from Taiwan. We especially loved the oyster pancake, the intestine vermicelli, and porkchop! I was originally going to Sanshi Noodle House, but it was closed and I was (still am) really sad. Anyway, this place was in the same plaza and I decided to try them! I had ever had Taiwanese food before so I didn't know what to expect, so I went with the beef noodle soup to play it safe. I also ordered a papaya milk drink and a big dumpling that was on special that day. The soup didn't taste fresh at all, but then again I don't know how it's supposed to be made. The beef had so much fat it was hard to eat/enjoy. The papaya drink tasted old, and when the server was making it I heard the microwave go off like three times which immediately disappointed me. It was nice trying something new, I love trying new foods but I probably won't be back unless a friend who knows more and can recommend some of their best dishes wants to go with me ! read more

Tucked away in this plaza, this place is so easy to miss because it is nondescript. But you would be missing an opportunity to try legit Taiwanese food, of which there are not a lot of options in the Orlando metro area. The people working here are friendly and enthusiastic about recommending good dishes to try. The ambiance is really homey and comforting on the inside. Be sure to try the Three Cup Squid, Stewed Pork Belly, and Hakka Stir-fry. These dishes are very representative of the many food influences in Taiwan. This is in a quiet plaza on Colonia Drive in Orlando. The table is a little bit sticky. It's not busy here on a Saturday night. Looks like a moms and pops. The food is authentic Taiwanese. Fried oyster with egg pancake could be more crispy. I tried the pork intestine noodle in which I think it's over priced. The salt and pepper chicken is good though. I recommend the Taiwanese beef noodle soup in which the beef is tender. Yang Chow fried rice yet taste good but doesn't look like the original version. read more

The authentic taste, the first bite into the food you haven't had in a very long time brings you right back to childhood memories. I've search many Taiwanese food place in Orlando. By far, This is the most authentic Taiwan food there is in central Florida. It is run and own by Tammy, chef and the owner. Everything she cooks is fresh ordered. Food can take time to come out but just know it is worth it. Some of my personal favorites is salt and pepper chicken, Fried tofu, Chinese sausage, fried pork combo, beef noodle soup, A choy, I can go on and on. Everything is a hit here , and Tammy don't miss when it comes to authentic taste. i have about 7 brothers and sister that is from Taiwan. and they have all agreed this is the most authentic they've tasted. keep up the great work Tammy! Pretty happy that the old Teriyaki House seems to be gone. That place was not good and should not have been open. I am glad the new owners spent a little bit more to decorate the location and actually use the air conditioning. The service was friendly and attentive. Everything is heavily garlicky so beware. Used to be called teriyaki house I assume because reviews for that has the same pics and same address. You are able to take out or sit inside. We sat inside, staff is fantastic, very friendly and got our drinks (we got hot jasmine tea and she came and filled hot water through out the meal). They have a picture menu so very helpful! We ordered the beef noodle soup (wow so flavorful and delicious), the fried pork chop (came with some cabbage, Taiwan sausage, egg and rice), so good!! Reminds me of Taiwan!!! The flavors are authentic. We also got the three cup chicken (has bones so it can be messy when eating!), and some vegetables. Everything was so good and reminded me when I visited Taiwan!!!! Formosan Garden, formerly known as Teriyaki House, is located in the Golden Sparkling Plaza mall on West Colonial. The restaurant serves Taiwanese cuisine, and it is a gem of a place in Orlando. Taiwanese cuisine is big on fried and braised dishes. My favorite at Formosan is their Braised beef brisket with rice (combination box), beef noodle soup, and their bean curd & sliced pork. The braised beef is very tender and delicious. It goes well with their rice and noodle dishes. I can't wait to come back (been back twice) to try other dishes. Also, they cook their dishes on order, which means that everything is fresh. It can take up to 30 minutes for the order to be ready - try calling ahead. If you have time to spare, try visiting the New Golden Sparkling supermarket as it is located a few stores down or Boba Queen for some delicious boba tea. read more

This place is truly a hidden treasure. They make fresh, authentic, Taiwanese food and it is very good. We had the fried pork chops with rice, fried tofu, braised pork with rice, and salt and pepper chicken. Everything was really good, but my favorite dish was the fried pork chop. The fried tofu was really good too, and the sauce they serve on the side is awesome (super spicy). The owner was a sweetheart. They're currently only doing carry out. This restaurant have seating for over thirty people. We asked for a menu and the waitress with the rainbow mullet haircut said there is only two menus in the entire restaurant and for us to wait until the other table was finished using the menus, so we sat and waited. Then a customer came in and the same waitress took her order before us. This is unacceptable. It wasn't even busy. There were only three customers. This waitress needs some serious training. It's not difficult to serve the next person in line when there were only three customers. And what will they do when there are thirty customers and only two menu?? I waited an hour for my meal and it's still not ready. Now the waitress tells me they are out of the egg plant main dish and the drunken chicken. Wtf! If she told me earlier I would have left an hour ago!! I pray when I get home that at least the food taste good. Just got home. Food is not fresh. Not even close to the Taiwanese food I'm use to. Won't be coming back here again. Oh they also ran out of the braised pork I ordered and offered a substitute braised pork. I just opened the takeout and it's two pigs feet. Not ready for dine-in yet. Order ahead (way ahead) if you can and be patient. I was there on Saturday evening and it doesn't look like they have any employees yet - 1 person cooking and 1 person trying to manage all the orders.
