I visited orlando area recently and my friend was missing some authentic Taiwanese food. Of course we Yelped around to see where there might be one. This establishment is a no frills little mom and pop place. But my friend told me it hit the spot. Similar food from her childhood she said. I'm really glad we found it. I also wanted to give a shout out to the server, whom I can only assume is the "pop" of the mom and pop restaurant. He was attentive, making sure we had water, and asked if we were good with the food, and just overall very nice. Keep in mind, no frills - disposable plates/plasticware etc. so having the friendly service as well was a nice touch. About the food, we have the fried pork chop bento box. The pork chop was nicely flavored and tender. There was some minced pork with gravy over the rice which was perfect. We loved the pickled veggies in the bento also and the soy sauce egg. I highly recommend trying their bento box options when you're here. Plus, I noticed they had lunch specials too. Will have to try next next for lunch. We also had the Taiwanese sticky rice, popcorn chicken, plum sweet potato fries and oyster omelette. All were very good. The area was a little unassuming, but the interior and once you walked into the shop was very welcoming! The inside was so cute and nicely decorated. We got the wonton noodle soup, pork chop bento, popcorn chicken and some other items. The wonton soup was so fragrant and delicious. It really was the perfect warm meal. The noodles were chewy and cooked to perfection. The wontons were huge and had lots of filling ! It was so addicting that we got a separate bowl of just wontons. The bento pork chop rice was so good! It had so many items! Loved the cabbage, the pickled vege, braised egg, two slices of sausage, broccoli, and minced meat on top of the rice!! The pork chop was lightly battered and fried! It had the perfect texture of chewy and crispy. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was also really crispy! It was perfectly seasoned and was a great small snack! We also ended the meal with mango shaved ice! This truly was the best shaved ice I've had, you can tell they use real mango for the ice. It was perfectly fluffy and sweet. BEST SNOW/ICE IN ORLANDO! Hands down this is the best snow I've had in Orlando & I have had all of the Asian ones in town. It tasted super fresh and you can tell they used real mangoes for the ice! Besides the dessert, the food is good as well. I got the cold chicken noodles and the portions were very big and it tasted delicious. I also got the plum sweet potatoes which I've never had but the seasoning uniquely sweet. I liked this appetizer a lot. I also really enjoyed the teas they had! It was very affordable and you can tell that the tea was brewed fresh. So delicious! Lastly, the customer service was great! Lovely little mom and pop shop! The elder asian man was very friendly - wanted me to sit down instead of taking our order at the register since I was eating in. We only got their fried tofu and their mango shaved ice and mango toppings. They use mango fruit for their shaved ice, so it comes out rich and creamy. So delicious! I've heard good things about their hot foods as well, so we got the tofu to try, and we were pretty happy with it! Must come back to try their other, standard Taiwanese fare like oyster pancake, popcorn chicken, etc. and update. The reason for the one star drop is that for a small, informal place like this, it was still pretty pricy. The shaved ice, with frozen mango topping, was almost $20 alone. If they dressed up their shaved ice more, and added a bunch of things, maybe the price could be justified, but you're definitely comparing that to NYC/LA prices then. However, it's one of the best shaved iced in Orlando (I am Taiwanese so maybe I'm biased for what I look for). read more

This place was so amazing. I honestly just stopped in after a very long work day to use the bathroom quickly. They also graciously allowed me and was so kind. It's all so clean and neat. I've been wanting to try this place for a while but never made my way over. My bf and I wanted to grab something quick while shopping in the area. When we walked in we were seated. The customer service was meh. But I don't expect much great service from certain types of Asian cuisines. I came here for the food. We ordered the meatball and the braised pork rice. They came out pretty quickly. Both dishes were delicious. I loved the meatball most. It was actually meat and bamboo inside a sticky glutinous ball. Very tasty. I would come back again. This Taiwanese cuisine has not been noticed by many yelper. They are actually been there for some time. We also visited them twice. They serve some traditional Taiwanese street food. We have meat ball to begin the meal. It is rice flour coating with meat inside and top with sweet sauce. Delicious. The second and third dish are deep fried red vinasse marinated pork and ground meat bamboo skin. Both of this dish also good. We also got fried pork chop with rice bento box and popcorn chicken. Both this dish can be found in all Taiwan. Love the dish. Our last dish is braised pork with bamboos shoot. This is a pork belly with soy sauce. The meat is folk tender. Overalls experience is good. Review based on Taiwanese shaved ice and fish cakes only. It's tough giving a place a low review because post pandemic world, things are a bit tougher than they used to be to be. However, i have to say that although the menu looks enticing and the beautiful photos that decorate the walls look delicious, the food I got did not resemble any of the photos even remotely. I was so looking forward for some tasty delicious Taiwanese shaved iced and what I got was a far cry from tasty. The ice was ok, the toppings were horrible, chewy and taste less. The fish cakes were all filler and almost no fish whatsoever. I do hope they improve as Taiwanese food is great, but to serve less than good Taiwanese food is just wrong. read more

My friend told me about this place and he raved about how good the food is. We have to pay a visit. Upon entry, this place reminded me of an old mom-and-pop shop back in LA where Sunday afternoons were spent with friends drinking boba and snacked on popcorn chicken. The owner came out and greeted us. He seemed shy at first. We ordered popcorn chicken, the pork bento box and two boba. Food came out quickly and the owner stayed to chat a bit with us. I love the taste, it's authentic and full of flavor. Next time we'll be back to try the beef noodle and shaved ice. read more

Mom and pop restaurant. Service was good. I truly want to say the food was amazing but it wasn't. Everything we tried was bland and not the usual Taiwanese flavors. Braised pork, portion was huge which is a plus since most restaurants have cut down on portions. Flavor was just ok. Braised pork belly was odd. One side was so light and the other was darker. I've never had braised pork belly like this where it seems like it didn't get covered by the sauce. Flavor was the same as the braised pork, just ok. I love Taiwanese pork chop so but not this one. Went in on a Wednesday afternoon with 3 other coworkers, they had 1 table of 2 eating. We ordered but the gentleman told us we weren't allowed to dine in because they were short-staffed. I finally had chance to dine in at this restaurant. Since it was around 5 pm on a weekday, other than the two takeout customers, my party was the only one who chose to dine in. After we sat down, I noticed the restaurant had updated their menu. Now the menu is in both in Chinese and English with quite a lot of pictures. From the appetizers section, I ordered the Taiwanese meat ball, Taiwanese sausage, and Peanut glutinous rice sausage. I really loved the sauce on the meat ball, it had a little kick of chili spiciness but not too much to burn your tongue. If you ever been to Taiwan, you would know that Peanut glutinous rice sausage and Taiwanese sausage were made together be a combination of popular snacks in the night market. They were both very good. The soy-stewed pork rice was also excellent, not too salty but flavorful. The best I ordered today was the dessert Mango snow shaved ice. I asked to upgrade with fresh mango topping and condensed milk. It was super tasty and suitable for the hot summer days. Definitely will go back and try some other things. (2/5/2024) Came for a weekday lunch to try out some Taiwanese specialties. We're trying to eat our way through the Westside shopping plaza. The place is small and like stepping into your cranky uncle's dining room. There's a handful of four-tops lining the walls, the table in the middle looks like where the "business office" is, like strewn with newspapers and invoices, like where the owner sits when no one is there. I did a little research and we ordered several small dishes. There is limited English spoken here, so be prepared. There did seem to be either many regulars, or many familiars popping in to chat, do business and order food. My non-Asian coworker was up to try most things. There was a daily specials board, but it was all in Chinese, so we just ordered off the snacks off the menu. The owner (the only on working there) was busy in the back with takeout orders. Everything was savory and well-seasoned and delicious, the best of the best were the Popcorn Chicken (love the fried basil), and Red Yeast Pork. Love the Peanut Glutinous Rice Sausage which, while it was described well, I was still surprised. It's a sausage casing stuffed with sticky rice and peanuts, unusual (to us, but delicious). The Meatball (彰化肉圆, bawan) is a large mochi-like ball, of sweet potato starch and rice flour skin, stuffed with seasoned meat, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots, and sauced with a mix of miso, sweet chili sauce, and oyster sauce. It's very much like popping in to visit your fam unexpectedly for lunch, and getting well-fed. read more

We visited OEC for dinner today and oh it was good and very reasonable. We had popcorn chicken, braised pork rice and Taiwanese beef noodles. We were full and still have some left over. We also ordered winter melon tea ($2.95) and it was a full cup with no ice. We asked to add on the QQ balls, and the owner was telling us that the ball is too big but later on, brought some QQ balls for us to try. It was homemade, chewy and made with fresh ingredients like taro, dragonfruit, greentea, etc. We will definitely come back and try more dishes from the extensive menu OEC has. read more

Delicious! A lovely small mom and pop shop tucked away in the same plaza as Enson market. I got the braised pork belly bento box and popcorn chicken appetizer. Portion sizes were generous. Service was prompt and friendly. I believe there is only the owners working the place (husband and wife). We went on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn't too busy. The only other people in there were two elderly men who came in right as we finished. It is a very casual dining experience, the vibe here feels like you're eating at your friend's house after school, if that makes sense.
