First review of 2024 and I finally made it in to check out the new Bakery 1908! Drs appointment days means my husband takes me for a little treat afterwards, and I was craving some dumplings and pastries. First off, I love that they have their own parking lot onsite with ample parking spots. This place is so unassuming from the outside. We walked in and were shocked by how large it is. We headed straight to the pastry cases and grabbed a tray & a pair of tongs. There are SO MANY options to choose from, but I was feeling more savory so I went with the ham & cheese roll and my husband chose the bavarian cream roll. Both were super light, fluffy and delicious. Once you have the pastries you want loaded up on your tray, you hop in line to pay at the counter. At that time, you can order additional items like boba tea, coffee, soup dumplings, cakes, etc. We of course had to try the Shanghai steamed pork dumplings (5 per order). I also got the black sesame cheese foam tea and my husband got the cheese foam latte with caramel. The soup dumplings were juicy and the broth inside had amazing flavor. We both really enjoyed our beverages. I love a sesame drink since they're not too sweet. After a great first experience, I already can't wait to go back! read more

This joint was jumpin! Very busy and lots of fun! We walked in about 1:15pm on a Friday and noticed right away the tea was buy one get one half off on weekdays so we obviously did that. We tried the peach lemon and the rose lemon tea. One half sweet and one no sweetness and let me tell you they were both pretty sweet. I can't imagine what the full sweetness would be. I ordered a lot so there were some hits and misses. I really wanted to like the matcha mousse and the blueberry mousse cakes but they didn't really have strong flavors. I couldn't really tell the difference between them other than the color. The pineapple 3 piece puff were a lot harder crust that I imagined and the filling was thick. Good flavor but I won't get that one again. The mango pudding cup was delicious. Strong mango flavor and a gelatin type of consistency. The large almond round cake was so supper fluffy but again I wanted a stronger flavor. We have plans to make a nice fruit compote to layer it with or maybe a whipped cream. The turtle bun was my son's favorite because ... it was a turtle. No filling in this one so it was perfect for him. He also LOVED the coffee bun and so I only got one bite of that as he devoured it. The pineapple bun had great flavors but the bottom dough didn't get cooked all the way so it was mushy. Still on the good side of things. The caterpillar roll was again a long bread roll but filled with a light whipped cream. Loved that and would get it again. The coconut butterfly was very well balanced flavor and really pretty. The coconut cloud cookies were so perfect I will definitely get those again too. The restaurant was so cute! Lots of places to sit and enjoy your food. Next time we will try the hot food options. I loved the hello kitty to go boxes for the mousse cakes. read more

This spot is so interesting. There's a full bakery side and then more cold treats behind the counter, and a kitchen area for ordering hot food. You can pick your pastries with a tray and tongs, then pick your hot food on a kiosk. There are so many pastries to pick from, sweet and savory. I will say, the sweets aren't very sweet. And I like was hoping for more flavor from both the sweet and savory sides. The dumplings were pretty good and the size is ok as well. A friend tried the tea and said it was refreshing. It was filled with fresh fruit and in a cute container. The setup as far as paying is a little confusing, as you pay the counter for the bakery and counter items and kiosk for hot foods. But it's very artistic and pretty inside. read more

We returned to try non-bakery menu and loved it. We had the octopus balls, hah gao, siumai, sticky rice and a bowl of wonton soup. We liked the shredded fish sprinkled on top of the octopus balls. The fresh Hah Gao and Siumai are much better than most precooked then frozen at most dim sum places. I finally made it here. I have been wanting to visit this place. Ordered the BBQ pork bun. The bread was soft, a little bit burnt at the bottom. It was savory, had a hint of pineapple. The coffee milk tea was not that special for the 6$ price. Tasted the sugar more than the coffee. Service is fast. Self serve. And the place is clean. read more

Came here for the first time and loved it! I ordered the chicken dumplings in soup. The broth was super flavorful and the dumplings were big and more filling than I was expecting! Great value for the price. I only wish the bok choy was cut up a bit smaller as it was tough to get through with just my chopsticks. I utilized their tablet self service area to order. I realized after that they have a member rewards program which I highly recommend you sign up for! You get a free bun on your first visit. The employees working were kind enough to set me up with the program and allowed me to redeem the free bun even after I had already ordered. The place itself is super clean, bright, and modern and a great place to meet up with friends for lunch. Cool place to try Asian flavors like black sesame, red bean, matcha..etc. Food- 2 star (being generous) So they have a whole restaurant too. During checkout we made a rash decision to try the chicken dumplings. We sat with our bakery items and wait for the food. The broth was good. But the texture of the chicken inside wasn't good and the carrots I feel like were cut too big. The texture was so off putting that I didn't even take a picture or finish any of them. Just one with one bite. So I thought mind as well eat the vegetables. I bit the bok choy and it was gritty. What do you know- there was dirt all in the bulb. So disappointing. read more

On my last visit in Orlando, I picked up some sweet and some savory bakeries. It took me sometime to make decisions though since they have a good selection. Bakery 1908 is a fantastic addition to the food scene in Central Florida. Both their breakfast and lunch are a must try. I love the approach for some of the starting pastry on a self serving manner. Keep clean and sanitary with separate trays and tongs. The variety of flavors to choose from allows for almost anybody to find something they'll like. I'm mostly a fan of breakfast choices; this checkin has lunch menu instead. Maybe only not positive opinion is the most the breads are a tad bit too sweet for my liking. This is my second visit to Bakery 1908 after the soft opening. The bakery has a variety of cakes, pastries, and drink choices. Ambiance is nice with easy listening music; not a lot available seating as the guests occupied approximately 75% of the tables. The staff are courteous and most of them bilingual. I invited a friend to join me. We ordered our food via the kiosk. The first four items of food took about 15 minutes to deliver to our table. One of the dishes, Siu Mai, which contains shrimp, mushroom, and pork. Unfortunately, it literally left a horrible taste with the uncooked pork. Hopefully, my friend and I will not get sick from this incident. I would be very cautious going forward at this establishment with their quality. read more

We finally made! It was great! It's located near Mills. Small parking lot. We ordered to go, although they do have plenty of seating. It's such a pretty bakery. Aesthetically pleasing with nice lighting. There are so many yummy buns, breads & cakes. They have savory and sweet buns and they also have cakes and pastries. I could've spent all my monies here. The baked goods from Bakery 1908 are delicious and well-executed! I unfortunately did not have a chance to visit the store, so I was unable to see the bakery's ambiance. My friends who did visit talked glowingly about the open and friendly environment. I did try some of Bakery 1908's buns, which I greatly enjoyed. The strawberry jam bun was HUGE! For its price, the bun is such a good deal. The bun is a gigantic, fluffy bread filled with whipped cream and strawberry jam. Biting into the bread was heavenly - each bite was bursting with bread and cream and strawberry jam. What a dream combination! The hot dog bun was also delicious. I didn't take enough pictures but that won't stop me from leaving another glowing review to add to the pile already here. The amount of things/prepared food that I wanted to pile up on my tray and shove in my face--to quote Mean Girls "the limit does not exist"!!! One thing I would highlight is that the coffee is really good as well, so this is a great place that can do food and coffee well. The breakfast sandwiches with the pork floss were so tasty. The dumplings were good as well. I would eat any combination of bun with taro that exists. I can't wait to go back and try more things! Came here last Saturday around 9am, they open at 8:30. Huge parking area. Walk in and the display is really nice, you have some cakes to your left as soon as you walk in. They have an order tablet next to it if you prefer to place an order yourself. The bread area is nice, problem with getting there too early is that not everything is out. But we still manager to grab a few breads to have for breakfast. Just note that dim sum and boba drinks are available after 11. But coffee and tea was available, I ordered an iced americano and it was really good. Plenty of seats to sit inside or there is some outdoor tables too! Over time more breads came out. We grabbed a few to go and everything was very tasty. Really liked the ham and cheese bread. The tarts was good too! We will look forward to coming back next time after 11 to try the other items. I sometimes come here during my work break and it always hits! This is really a gem in orlando!

We visited Bakery 1908 yesterday for our first time for lunch. We ordered Honey Walnut Chicken ($10.99) (which is fried chicken bits with a creamy sauce and candied walnuts on top with a few trees of broccoli) and we ordered Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken ($10.99) ( fried chicken bits with a great taste served with a sweet and sour like dipping sauce). We also ordered a Peach Lemon Fruit Tea ($6.75) and a Rose Lemon Fruit Tea ($6.75). We shared both chicken dishes and enjoyed them both. I think that the sauce on the Honey Walnut Chicken would have been better for us if it was served on the side or had less of it. It's really good, we just would enjoy less. The Taiwanese chicken is super tasty all by itself. We typically do not drink sweet or fruity teas but we thought we would try a couple. They were fine but not something we need to order again. However, if you enjoy sweetened and/or fruity teas, you will most likely enjoy these. There is a large area of self serve bakery cabinets. So many choices of tasty looking cakes and buns to decide among and a good selection of breads and pre-packaged cookies to take away. We didn't try any bakery items today. The dining room is a good size and there are some beautiful and brightly colored murals on the walls. There is also some covered outdoor seating. This is another recommend. If you have visited Paris Baguette, this restaurant has some similarities but I like this one better as there seem to be more choices. read more

Great to see a new Asian bakery in the area, especially one that offers such a wide variety of foods. It's a wonderful space with lots of room and has a clean crisp vibe that makes it appealing to just sit and chill or study here. And there's plenty of seating which makes it even better. They have a huge selection to choose from, ranging from pastries and egg tarts to crepe cakes, sponge rolls, and mousse cakes. The flavors range from sweet fruits like strawberry and winter melon to more savory fare. They also serve dim sum but we didn't order any this time around. However, from the menu descriptions it sounded really appealing, especially the chicken feet. The baked goods were pretty good! Admittedly I have had better stuff elsewhere so it wasn't particularly life changing. But it was decent and I'm happy to have checked it out. I liked the pastries way more than the cakes. We ordered a matcha mousse cake but honestly it didn't really taste like matcha at all. To the point that I even wondered if they had mistakenly given us a different flavor. We also had a strawberry sponge roll that was good but I wish they had put more creme in the middle. Everything else was pretty tasty! So excited for this Taiwanese fusion bakery! We just happen to be driving by when we saw someone putting up a "Now Open" sign :) We had to do an U-turn immediately and so glad we did! Great decor, feel, and ambiance! It feels upscale, modern decor with a touch of whimsy, and friendly service. Seems like a good place to work with your laptop while sipping tea and nibble of amazing baked goods... they offer quite the assortment. It's such an unique bakery that offers savory & sweet baked goods, cakes, milk teas, boba, coffees, and even dim sum all day long This makes my heart happy! This baked goods range from $3-4, a bit higher then your average Asian bakery, but your also paying for the ambiance and upscale feel. But I ended up settling on the Golden Onion Floss and Strawberry Jam Bun. The Golden Onion Floss was my favorite. I love a savory bun and this delivered. The bread was so soft, there was a good amount of mayo. And the middle wasn't left plain. I would definitely get that again. The strawberry jam was also super delicious. It was like a cake in bread form. The fruit was super fresh and it wasn't too heavy or too sweet. Wow! Just wow! We were so impressed with Bakery 1908. This will definitely be one of our new favorites in Orlando. We are already planning when we are going to get to go back. Bakery 1908 just had its grand opening on November 11th, but it has been open for a bit prior to that. When you walk in you can head straight ahead to order drinks and food from the kitchen. Or you can head to your left and explore the huge selection of sweet and savory pastries. There are so many options and while we were there they were constantly putting out even more pastries. There is something for everyone, from hot dogs to garlic buns, cream rolls and cakes. It was so hard not trying one of each item. However, I will definitely be back to try out some other options. Once you select your items from the bakery, you go to the checkout counter where you can add any kitchen items or drinks. We got the Steamed Shanghai Dumplings which were so tasty and well made! My boyfriend also got a cup of coffee and he said the coffee was really impressive. There is lots of seating available which really surprised me! We went on a Sunday afternoon and even though it was very crowded inside, we were able to checkout quickly and grab a table. The dumplings came out fairly quick too considering how busy it was. It did get a bit loud, but that was completely understandable. All of the workers were incredibly efficient and made it a really great experience for us. We are so excited to go back soon! read more

To be honest, it was very hard to enjoy this place, because when you walk in directly on the left is a bathroom, and for whatever reason that bathroom made the whole place smell like a sewer. When walking into a bakery, you think you'd smell something sweet, but I couldn't stand the smell, so I made my order quickly and left, which is unfortunate, because the place itself looked cool, and was quite spacious. Amongst my group, we had ordered brown sugar, Boba, cookies, milk bread, and lemon fluff roll. To be honest, it fell in the middle ground for me, though my cousin did enjoy the milk bread. My drink was also okkaayyy but my gosh it was definitely sweet. Truthfully, I probably would've given it 4 stars but that smell was really bad. I'm glad I'm not pregnant, cause I wouldn't have made it past the door. There is something up with the piping in there. I went with 5 other family members and they all said the same thing. It certainly didn't stop business, but I hope that gets fixed, cause I won't go back because of that. read more

Not sure if I went on an off day but this place was over-hyped for my taste. Ambiance and customer service were very good. I enjoyed the seating area and available items like self serve chili oil, plates and to go boxes. The downside were the pastries. I tried two separate items and both were very mediocre and slightly insipid. The croissant was very dry and dense, the filling was both unsweet and flavorless. Some items also didn't have a clear price on the board which added unnecessary time in the line. Overall, I sadly won't be returning. read more

Stopped in to see about some dumplings and get some tea to drink. There was a line to order at the counter when we go there, but it moved quickly and the service was friendly and they were knowledgeable to help those that needed assistance with their selections. We ordered Shanghai dumplings, chive dumplings, and pork dumplings. They were all brought to our table as they were ready. All of them were hot and steamed perfectly. The Shanghai dumplings are like a soup dumpling and they were prepared really well and it was a treat for me since I have not had many besides my trips to Asia. Be careful since the soup inside is always hotter than the dumpling seems. I also ordered a Thai tea and that came out from the drink bar prior to the food. Wow! Super cute and aesthetic place to hang out. Upon arriving, there were lots of bakery items to choose from. The staff is very helpful and they were super friendly! We ordered all different types of buns, I love that they had a variety of pork buns whether it was the puff pastry version, the bun version, or the seasame seed pork pastry. I really enjoyed the dulce de deche custard bun, as well as pork buns. If I could, I would've bought them all! You can also order dim sum/ dumplings as well. There are sooo many options to choose from and the place is very spacious so you don't feel so claustrophobic. We ordered the super fruit tea (less sugar) & mango lychee fruit tea & it came in the cutest cups! No extra charge for the cups as I only paid $6 each for these drinks. I would recommend less sugar as it can taste very very sweet! All the buns start out at $3 each, which is not a bad deal at all. In total, I spent $50! This was a new experience for me. I have never tried soup dumplings and decided this would be the place I would go to try them. There was a small line to get it but it moved pretty fast. There was a kiosk that I think you can order from but since this was all new to me I figured it would be best to have a live person. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I got 2 kinds of fried dumplings and one soup dumpling. I did the pork and the pork/shrimp chives. They were really good and seemed like they were cooked as they were supposed to be. I have had fried dumplings before and they were perfect. I like that they give you a pack with chopsticks AND fork/spoon so you can sort of choose your own dining adventure.
