We found that scheduling their clean and polish service every 2 years or so is the best way to protect our investment in our stone floors. Although we were long time customers, this was the first visit since the Bakers sold to the current ownership. I can say that the transition was seamless for us. We had that same great service and the same great outcome we had enjoyed in all the prior years. Plus they were able to provide some overdue maintenance on our granite countertop backsplash. We had Baker's out to clean and seal our flagstone in Sep 2024. They seemed nice and knowledgeable when we had our estimate done, but I do not recommend this company (especially to folks in Tucson, who have to pay a fee for an "overnight hotel charge" [because they come down from Phoenix] --despite the fact that they didn't actually stay in a hotel, they drove back to Phoenix and came back the next day). Our flagstone basically looked no different AFTER they cleaned it and the 'sealer' that was used (if you can even call it that) didn't create a 'beading' effect for longer than a couple of weeks. This was not a cheap or inexpensive project, it cost well over $4,000 and the only thing that has lasted is the over spray on our house and courtyard doors from the cleaning agents that were used. We can't get that off of the paint at all and will have to repaint, since it's near impossible to do touch ups on darker house paint color that has changed since it was painted in 2023 so touch ups are super noticeable. I reached out to Baker's earlier this year and got zero response. I wasn't even asking -or expecting- them to come out and redo anything (which I probably should have), but wanted to let them know about the over spray issue and ask if they had any recommendation for solvents that might remove it --nothing, radio silence. So, I strongly suggest you avoid Baker's and find a different company who will actually do the work you're paying them to do with even a basic amount of professionalism, care, attention to detail, and customer service. read more

After looking at several other companies on line I finally called these guys. I learned that the process they use is their own derived and time tested process to bring my travertine back to life. I had some reservations but felt like I made a good choice. After Miles came to the house and gave us the estimate, answered ALL of our endless questions and even educated us on what natural stone does in our Arizona weather and how to "fix" it. I was now 100% happy with the choice. Travis, Glen and Ivan showed up on time and ready to go to work. These three gentleman were obviously well experienced and thorough they took the time and explained each step of the process with enthusiasm and obvious satisfaction with what they do. I learned that combined, the three of them have over 50 years of experience not just with stone but AT Baker's! This said a lot to me. Bakers did a beautiful job cleaning and repolishing my travertine and flagstone. The house is only a few years old, but the installer ground down the edges of the tile to make them level with adjacent tiles making the finish very uneven. Bakers polished it out and gave me a few sample patches to choose from. I thought I wanted a more matte finish, but they were right, the more polished look was so much better. The guys were very skilled and knowledgeable and so pleasant to have around for the 3 days they were here. And so tidy. My floors look awesome. So often, you spend a lot of money on home maintenance projects you never really get to enjoy as they are hidden. This was money well spent that I get to enjoy the results of every day. PS - I'm in Sedona and the guys stayed in an AirBnB nearby for the length of the job. I appreciated their willingness to work this far north! I recently purchased a home with multicolor slate floors and travertine showers. The original owner remodeled over 10 year ago and installed the stone back then. The most recent owner (prior to me) spent 4 yrs in the house and added slate on the outside. When I asked about the care of the stone, I could never get a straight answer regarding the maintenance that had been done to the floors and showers. All I know is that the floors looked dull and the showers had calcium build up; they needed help. I had 4 companies come look and give quotes to restore the stone. The range of advice I got was all over the map. I selected Tom and Co. based on his knowledge and passion of stone restoration. After spending two days with Tom and his team, I can proudly say I made the right decision. Tom is a bit of a chatter box, but he definitely has skills in this area. He's like a stone detective. Our chiseled travertine floors were in need of cleaning and the grout in the kitchen area was deeply stained in many area's. Also, where I live has extremely hard water and the showers were coated with white calcium . I interviewed three companies and Bakers was competitively priced. They also were patient and explained the process and what needed to be done. When the crew of three arrived , Ray who was the lead person in charge was really great. He spent a lot of time pointing out areas that needed attention, and was very thorough in explaining the cleaning, polishing, and repair process. His team came on time, ready to work. They were professional, friendly, and took tremendous pride on their work. Our floors look beautiful. Our Carrera marble counter, which my husband kind of ruined by leaving a pumpkin on it, where it melted overnight and etched a permanent pumpkin outline, looks as beautiful as the day the counter was installed eight years ago. We had over 1500 square feet of travertine cleaned and polished (light polish) by a 4 man team from Power Clean this week. The home is 6 years old and hadn't had a professional cleaning before. We are very happy with the results. The floors, two stairwells and three shower stalls look beautiful again. From the time they came and quoted my wife and I what it was going to take to restore our 13yr old floors to the time they completed it yesterday I have never had such great customer service. Update: They did a wonderful job on the main project when we first used them but when I contacted them to have someone come by and clean and repolish a few spots they can't even make the time for me. They have been running me around in circles since December in trying to fit me in when they have a cancellation or extra time. My job is not enough for them to give me the time of day. So next time when I'm due to get all my floors repolished I will be contacting another company. Normally if I have used a company for a huge project they have no problems running by to touch up or fix a spot. I am very disappointed. read more

Stay away from that company, very expensive, very rude, lairs, after I paid the deposit, they cooked the work, leaving my floor has same scratches as before, when I questioned them, they said the they did not quote me for it, and then they show me their contract, it say, that they will not fix scratches, so what I'm paying for, so bad to spend thousands and then you get the floor as before, but clean. It cost me to clean the floor about third of the replacement cost, and after all I did get my floor restored. Be careful before signing the contract, in a very small font, above your signature it say that they don't remove scratches, they don't buff crackers, they don't fill pits, they don't fix grout, in contrary with their verbal agreement, the contract will tarnish your right as customer. Stay away, stay away, stay away. read more

Be aware of these folks, they will do " power clean" which a handy man with Home depot rental machine can do it for pennies, I was driven by the positive reviews that was posted on Yelp, they actually used it to drag me into their mud, I got a house and installed around half of the flooring with brand new travertine, the old travertine had a lot of pits, scratches, and look dull, I was advised to hire a company to fix, hon and polish the old travertine instead of removing and replace it with new one, I got several quotes for that, from Baker, Qoit, Hank, and few others, Baker was by far more expensive than others by about 30% and I didn't even look at it. all of the companies agreed on using lower grid to buff out the damaged layer of the travertine, and would go with higher grid to to finish up with desirable shiny looking, Baker opposed that idea and started talking bad and negative about other companies, as they would rip my money off and damage my floor, after several phone conversations, and a promising to make my floor in excellent condition, and their positive reviews, I agreed to hire Baker despite his high rate, That was my huge mistake. After finishing most of the Job, I noticed that the old Travertine still rough, dull, full of pits, scratches, almost the same except it was little shinny, a week later it lost its shine. I contacted Baker, they changed their wording, now they are saying the my travertine is low grade, and can't be fixed, so why you didn't say that from the beginning? I was already paid $5000, and they stepped out of the job before completion, requesting $3000 more. After that I called couple contractors to inspect the property, all of them stated the same, the old travertine need to be redone, it is a long process to hon with lower grid, to remove scratches, then gradually go with higher grid to bring the natural stone to its natural beauty and shiny, After paying $5000 I have to pay again for the job to be redone. I complaint to ROC, they was not very helpful, they advise me to file civil case, Baker brought a contract that I never agreed or signed on, the contract state, that scratches may not removed, and would not be buffed. pits and cracked are not included, so why I'm paying thousands of dollars if my travertine would be the same I'm going for lawsuit. and I will keep you posted. We paid about $4,000 to have the stone in our backyard cleaned and sealed. The work they did was good enough that I called them a second time when we needed more work done. About a year later (June 2017) I called them to do some additional work - they did not respond for about a week. I finally got a response after several emails and phone calls to them. Tom finally called back and provided a lengthly response that they were "partying" at the "lake". Tom said he would head to our place in the next month to look at the stone and let us know what needed to be done. They never came out and they they never called to let me know they couldn't or didn't want to do the job. They did a good job on the main project when we first used them but when I contacted them to have someone come by and redo a small surface they told me the job was not large enough for them to bother. After reading them the riot act on customer service, they said they would put me on a priority list to have one of their guys handle as a side job. That was several months ago and still did not hear back. So next time when I need this type of service, I will be contacting another company. We also had the grout color seal done, and they fixed every bit of chipped out grout and sealed every inch of the grout by hand. I noticed their strong attention to detail, making sure the sealer only touched the grout and not the stone. Be careful of this company, very careful. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding Baker Travertine and the only response they had is that I should have read their very fine print. I signed an agreement with them to clean our travertine on the back patio. Prior to signing the agreement , I told them we were having other construction work done on our house and I wasn't sure if the construction company would need to use the patio for egress to the worksite. They stated they required a project date to schedule the work and I needed to "hold" a date for the work in advance so we "held" January 30th and 31st when I signed the contract with the understanding I could change it once I confirm dates with our construction company.. I did immediately determine from the construction company they would need to use the patio for egress to the work-site and they gave me finish date of January 31st which required me to move the travertine start date of the project to February 4th and 5th. On January 31st the construction company told me they would not be finished the work and needed egress through the patio through the following week ending on February 7th. I called Baker Travertine at 11:00AM on January 31st, immediately after I learned of the delay to reschedule again. I was told that I automatically forfeited my $300 deposit because I requested a second change within 7 days of the project date. I was also told It was in the agreement I signed and I should have read the agreement. I was also told I should ask my construction company for payment of the deposit I paid to Baker Travertine. Based on the lack of understanding or compassion for our uncontrollable changes I cancelled the contract. I did request a refund of my deposit and they sent me an email stating the forfeiture of the deposit was common practice in their industry and, again, stated it was in the contract . It is difficult for me to believe they need to make their money by collecting security deposits from customers who make changes beyond their control to their project dates. I am also very disappointed in the aggressive attitude and lack of any kind of empathetic customer service shown by a consumer based company. I recently moved into a home that had been previously occupied by three bachelor tenants + a dog. I picked up on the smell after the cleaning fumes had subsided; the house smelled strongly of dog pee and I was about to move in. So not good. As most homes in Phoenix, my home is mostly tile. Specifically, tumbled travertine...so not only do I have grout lines between tiles, but I have grout across the surface of the distressed tiles. This was especially unlucky for me, because all those pee puddles that had been left unattended by the prior tenants had soaked themselves throughout the tile in the house and was giving off a foul, foul collective odor. I did TONS of research online looking for chemicals and/or companies who could rid and neutralize the grout / tile of the scent and stains. Every product I found led to a slew of negative reviews from disappointed and frustrated customers who said it was expensive and didn't work. Then, I happened upon an ad for Bakers Travertine Power Clean. Skimming the website, it seemed like they knew their stuff. I liked that they were a small, family-owned business who had been in business for several decades. I immediately phoned and talked with the owner. I told him my problem and what I had read about such-and-such chemicals and their efficacy. He was very kind and took the time to explain how urine affects tile & grout, and what was required in terms of chemicals and equipment to adequately remove any stain and neutralize the odor. The chemicals that I had thought would solve my problem would likely damage the tile further -- so much for online forums. Tom explained that the equipment they use sends the cleanser into the floor at 1200 psi (pressure per square inch). Carpet cleaning machines operate at 400 psi. That power would ensure that the cleanser would be pushed deep into the grout where the urine had cut itself into and settled. I had spoken to another tile company who recommended that I purchase their cleaner than apply it by hand with a toothbrush. After talking to Tom this didn't seem like it would help as it would only "clean" the surface of the grout and would leave the real odors untouched. Also I had a ton of tile, and that seemed like an arduous task. It was a no-brainer who had the better option. My landlord had given me an impossible budget to solve this problem. Tom and his team worked miracles to help me. They were quick to respond, and after a few hours my house smelled brand new and the tile looked sparkling clean. Several weeks later and NO smell has resurfaced. I can't tell you how relieved I am. These guys are passionate about tile to a degree I can't even comprehend. They know their stuff, go the extra mile (or ten) to ensure the job is done correctly, and are exceptionally kind and patient while providing the information you need to confidently make a decision. They also taught me how to maintain and clean my tile going forward so I can keep my tile looking great.
