I decided to try Baker Street Cafe after hearing good things about it and went for breakfast recently. I was not disappointed! The cafe is tucked away in a little area surrounded by hospital buildings. I got corned beef hash with sunny side eggs. The meal was absolutely delicious! It came out quickly and hot. The eggs were done perfectly and the meal came with toast and home fries as well. I was very full after eating it all. It was all so delicious and I will definitely be going back! This place has so much potential, considering it's the closest cafe for several office buildings. I go here fairly frequently, basically because there isn't much else around but overall the experience is always so-so. Why? Because the atmosphere is unwelcoming. You have the choice to either order takeout at the register, or sit down and wait to be served. If you order at the register and then decide to sit down to eat, there is a sign informing you that they will add a 50 cent fee for not "following the rules". Mind you, it's the same girl running both the takeout line and waitressing for the entire place, so you can imagine how hectic it can get if the place is busy. Seems like it would take some weight off of her if everyone ordered at the register. You're also not allowed to modify any of the food options. One time I asked to get a soup with my sandwich instead of the chips, and said I would pay extra for it. I was told no. I literally had to rephrase and ask for a cup of soup "on the side, hold the chips". Another time I discovered you can't ask for a tuna melt and then ask to add tomato. You have to order a "build your own sandwich" and basically describe a tuna melt with tomato as a workaround. But the biggest gripe i have with this place is how they'll randomly be closed for the day (or week). I fully understand that small businesses may need to close unexpectedly. But in the age of instagram and having a website (they have both), it takes minimal effort to alert your customers of a planned or unplanned closure. Sometimes there won't even be a note on the door. I've gotten into the habit of calling before walking over to make sure they're open. Case in point.. they're been closed since January. If you look in the window there's a sign in the very back that says they're renovating but the place looks untouched. But their website and insta say they're open. After 2 yrs of working in this area, my coworker and I finally went here. I AM SO MAD that I wasted my money here. I ordered a ham & cheese paper bag lunch. Because you can only order "as is" I didn't get any mayo, mustard, lettuce, nada. They gave me 2 bags of chips and a fruit (which I'm allergic to). I get back to my office and the sandwich looks like sh*t and I can't even eat it because the bread is completely hard like it's been sitting in the fridge. For $9.50, come on make it worth it. Another thing too, after she took my order, she just left. When she came back she skipped my coworker and took someone else's order. Finally someone else came and of course because it's an "as is" order, she couldn't get any lettuce nor tomatoe. So she said no thanks and the girl just walks away. Move over Philadelphia - there's a new cheesesteak champion! Baker Street long ago won me over as my go to breakfast spot but today I tried lunch. A mountain of thinly sliced steak (ribeye?), grilled tender, not tough, with mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, onions and choice of cheese. Ask for it by name: the Watson Steak Bomb. Oh man, simply delicious. Always prompt, friendly (but not intrusive) service. Today's server was Namir - a delight! Just a few minutes from downtown and, usually, lots of on-street parking - just don't park too close to corners. read more

Worst customer service I have seen in my life. Gave me the wrong order - refused a refund - it was like pulling teeth to get them to fix the order. While they were replacing my order the girl that works the counter dropped the lids to the iced coffee on the floor and then immediately put them back on the container from the floor without ever cleaning them. Been a few times and never disappointed. The food seems fresh and clean, even when you make bad decisions it still looks so good for you it's so pretty lol. Idk where they get the ingredients from but the "bacon" in my lunch sandwich was the bomb, loved the blue cheese, and the iced coffee flavors are delicious. It's really hard to give a 3 star rating to a place with friendly staff, discounted coupons and a few minutes drive from the hospital...however, in my opinion, the food was really a three-star experience, no matter how you slice it. I came here for lunch and tried numerous menu items, from kale to spiced mango smoothies, Asian-inspired noodle bowls, salads and Ruben sandwiches. The smoothies were unique, but had a mismatch of flavors that raised my eyebrows in more of a confused than excited sensation; the fact that there were chock full of ice crystals did not aid the digestive processes either. The noodle bowl was incredibly salty. The salad was good...but more or less of what you may expect from a goat-cheese walnut salad. That being said, the staff were very friendly and happy to engage in conversations. There are a few daily specials, and even though we should have gotten some discounts for being there on Fri...we didn't...and we kinda just let it slide. So glad I tried this place twice. Idk where this place suddenly came from but it's one of the only places that delivers breakfast to my house. I work third shift, so normal breakfast time is usually my dinner time and it's awesome to have the option of delivery. My choices are this or meeting street cafe. I love meeting street cafe, but the prices are a bit on the high side. The first time I ordered from here I got the breakfast enchiladas. They probably would've been great... But I was quite, um, "altered" and felt that my delivery guy was maybe in cahoots with the Jehovah's Witness people I very blatantly ignored, and maybe my food was poisoned. Totally reasonable, I know. I ate the food the next day. It, of course, wasn't poisoned, but it wasn't spectacular and I was disappointed. Today, after working all night and coming home to learn that groceries hadn't magically appeared in my fridge over night, I ordered the breakfast burrito and chocolate chip pancakes. Both seriously perfect. You can't really fuck up pancakes, but the burrito is better than most other Mexican breakfast I've had from other places. Idk what their deal is or where they get their ingredients from, which is usually a pretty important part of choosing a place to eat for me, but I totally recommend trying them. Only thing: I wish they had real hot sauce. I asked for hot sauce on the side with one of my orders. Breakfast is insanely cheap, they have great omelets and the breakfast skillet is delicious. Sandwich or panini /side salad combo is my go-to for lunch. No star, really !. I ate at Baker Street Cafe last year and was the worst and the saltiest cup of soup ever. should have just given me a brick of salt with a shot of water instead - Would have been more honest at least ! Lately, I am hearing some horror stories where they are serving wiltie salads with extra chiton ( ie bugs ) along with rotten tomatoes. The bigger shock to me, was , when the customer pointed out the bug, they did not even offer to refund the customer. Wow!! read more

Our office recently moved to this area so we walked over for lunch. My friend and a split a burrito. It was sitting in a pool of grease and was so bad we tossed it. Went this week to give it a second chance. We ordered tomato soup and my friend ordered mac n cheese. Tomato soup was very flat, no taste and greasy consistency. It seemed watered done broth with some tomato shreds. After 20 minutes, mac n cheese never appeared. We ordered it assuming it was something that could be dished out fairly quickly. Apparently not - I am guessing it was frozen and being reheated. I'd give it a zero since we were out $$ but no edible lunch. read more

She was so excited that she had a part-time job for the summer, but was unable to get to first base with them. My granddaughter grew up without a mother, and is young, but responsible. This was my first time ordering from here. I work next door and I've heard good things about the food based on coworkers experience. I ordered broccoli Alfredo for pick up but I ended up going on my break early so I walked in and requested the food be made now instead of then. The cashier said okay that's fine. I ask how long it would be, not inciting any urgency, as I was on my break, but willing to wait. The cashier said it would be 10 minutes and the chef's didn't have anything else to cook, okay, fine. The food ended up taking 20 minutes. That's fine, I don't mind waiting for my food I'd rather wait than have it be rushed. The cashier of course, hides and the back and I hear her and she says to the chef's that she's hiding so she doesn't get cussed out, as if I couldn't hear her. Lucky I didn't cuss her out after I heard that because truly, I am very lenient and understanding, as I have worked in the food business before, I understand what it's like to be at the ass end of the stick. Once again, whatever. So the cashier gives me my food and reiterates that the chef said "call for pickup next time so you don't have to wait" as if I wasn't aware of that when my initial order was for pickup. Sorry this is the real world, shit happens. Whatever. So I go to my break room which is again, right next door. So my food is hot and I'm ready to dive in. I take my first bite and I am immediately turned off. As an Italian, I have to say I've had all different kinds of pasta but I can tell you right this this pasta was undercooked and CRUNCHY. So disappointed. So I take my food back and I told the cashier about it. She takes my food to the back, doesn't offer me a refund, doesn't say sorry. The chef just stares at me. So I ask for a refund, as my break was completely wasted from this place playing games with my food like they think it's a joke to run an establishment and sell people undercooked food. My first experience was shitty to say the least and forreal next time you guys make pasta maybe you should try it out before serving it raw to someone. And your cashier is nice but if shes afraid to get bitched out by me, shes worried about the wrong person and maybe you need someone with better leadership skills because obviously she misread me and perceived me as being in a rush and passed it off to the chef's?????
