Wowzers!!! What a cool bakery. There was a long line due to it being covered in the local magazine…read morein town. Worth the wait. Very savory and not too sweet. The lamb pastry and the sour cherry pistachio ones were outstanding!! See photos.

Took me 4ever to make it down to church hill to try this place out but finally got to try it out…read moretwice in the past couple of months. Go early to get the best selection. The first time I went with my daughter on a Saturday in July and we got there around 10:45am and there was a decent 15 minute line. By the time we got inside and had a look at the bakery case there wasn't a lot of choices. We got an almond croissant and a spinach feta tart. Also got an iced jasmine latte which was surprisingly good- slightly floral and not overly sweet. I'm always on the lookout for a good almond croissant. Unfortunately the almond croissant did not live up to expectations. Not the worst I've had- I liked the filling but the bottom layers looks like it suffered from failed lamination. It was one layer and overly baked. The layers on the tart were better and the flavors were great. On our second visit we got there at 8:30am on a Saturday and had way more selection: chocolate almond croissant, pain aux currant, sour cherry and pistachio croissant, morning bun. Chocolate croissant was better than the almond croissant cause chocolate pretty much makes everything taste better but not sure the layers on the bottom were any better. My favorite was the cherry and pistachio croissant. Lots of flavor and puff pastry was done well. The morning bun was good, but it was nothing special. Disappointing bc was expecting something great. My other favorite was the.pain aux currants. I went with several family members the second time and we all agreed our favorites were the sour cherry and pistachio croissant as well as the pan aux currants. Staff was friendly and helpful on both our visits. Parking can be a challenge, but you should be able to find something as long as you're up for a walk. No steps needed to get in the place so handicap friendly but seating inside is kinda limited but decent for the size of the place. There's also a few outdoor tables but there's no shade.

I stand by this: Honey Baked Bee is hands-down the best bakery and coffee shop in Richmond…read more I've made it my mission to try just about every coffee shop in the RVA area--and I'm not exaggerating when I say I've visited nearly all of them. This one is my favorite by far. The coffee is consistently incredible, the breakfast pastries are amazing, and the baked sweets are some of the best you'll find anywhere. If you go, do yourself a favor and order the banana bread latte. It's easily my favorite drink in Richmond. One of the things that makes this place so special is the owner, Shannon. She bakes her own fresh bread, creates all kinds of delicious treats, and even makes homemade goodies for your dogs, which is such a thoughtful touch. And don't leave without asking Shannon about the history of the building and its ghost stories. Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, it's a fun story that adds even more charm to an already wonderful little spot.

I wanted to read at the park, but wanted something to munch on! They were going to be closing in 20 minutes when I got there! There was the one barista at the counter. She didn't seem too friendly, but that may have been because she was getting ready to close the cafe and was just tired. I ordered a large strawberry refresher, a macaron, a cupcake and a breakfast poptarte ! I loved everything flavor wise! The refresher was tasty, it was a just a bit too sweet for me, but good regardless. The macaron was good, the cupcake wasn't too sweet and the breakfast pastry was perfectly flavorful. Overall, I had a good experience. I would love to spend some time in the cafe when they're open because they give off a cozy vibe! The short time I spent in there while waiting for my order, I noticed a lot of art is displayed. I'm assuming they sell work from local artists and artisans. I would definitely recommend stopping by and tasting something from their menu!
