Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the value. Good first impressions of a Tex-Mex restaurant are the Chips & Salsa and Baja's didn't disappoint. Good, thick, crunchy, Yellow Corn Tortillas with a Salsa that isn't too runny and has a good level of spice. I ordered the Enchiladas off the lunch menu with a Sour Cream Sauce and asked for some Jalapenos to go along and I was very pleased. The Sour Cream was good, but not over-powering and the Chicken was tender. The Sour Cream and the Jalapenos gave it a nice balance of Creaminess and Spiciness. Came here as a party of four on a Saturday night and it was very busy. We all enjoyed our meals. I got the Delicias (sour cream chicken enchilada, beef taco al carbon, cheese enchilada with queso sauce and a side of guacamole) and thought it was pretty tasty and filling. I really didn't care for the beef taco very much though--it was salty and a bit dry. Two others in our party got the brisket tacos and really liked them. The margaritas were delicious and had a good amount of alcohol in them. The prices were fair and the service was great as well. Overall, an awesome Mexican restaurant with good food and drinks to catch up with friends. I would definitely come back! read more

I'm not much for giving negative reviews and this isn't a huge deal just frustrating. I have ordered from this place several times since moving to the area. The food is okay and convenient. The problem is that no matter how many entrees you order for to go they will only provide one bag of chips and one salsa. I order three entrees and a queso. No extra chips for queso. If you order from them stop and get yourself some chips at the store. It would be understandable if they offered them for an extra charge but they don't. I guess customer retention costs are less that a bag of chips. I'm out. Seems silly. read more

Went to eat here after reading several favorable reviews online. Sadly, unlike many of the reviews I read, my experience of Baja Grill was just average. I was initially surprised by the atmosphere - the restaurant is located in a storefront, not an actual stand alone building. Okay, fine no big deal. Next the service was lacking. Our waitress tended to our basic needs well enough but she had the personality of a rock. Again, she got our orders right and filled our drinks, but a small smile would have been nice during the 40 mins we were there. Now onto the actual food...based on several online recommendations (including here) I wanted to try two things for sure: the queso and the margaritas. Now the queso was the highlight of my meal - quite possibly the best queso I've ever had! I know what you're thinking - it's just queso. Well, yeah, ultimately but as far as quesos go, this was top-notch! And sorry, I couldn't even tell you what made it so good, but it was thick and hearty and delicious! Definitely try the queso if you go. Now onto the margaritas... I ordered the original and my wife got the sangria swirl. In my opinion they were pretty good tasting for an average Mexican restaurant but I've definitely had better. I did order mine frozen and I usually do on the rocks; maybe that would have made a difference. They weren't overly strong, but you could definitely taste the tequila. They did have a nice consistency - very smooth - and they stayed frozen the entire time. Oh, and they were good sized too. As for our meals, I ordered the fish tacos and my wife chose the chile rellenos. My fish tacos were good, but again, not great. Received two large tacos, but I thought $10.99 was a bit high. Came with two sides of your choice - I went with cilantro lime rice and tortilla soup. The rice was ok and I didn't care for the tortilla soup. Too bland and was more vegetable than anything. As for my wife's chile rellenos, she chose brisket as her stuffing. The brisket had a nice flavor and the portions were large, but the one thing I look for in a good chile relleno was lacking - cheesiness! These were not at all cheesy so if you're like me and look for that in your chile rellenos, then I'd pass. In conclusion, would I go back? Maybe, but probably only for a margarita and some queso. If I wanted an actual Mexican food meal, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I love Baja! Been eating here forever and moved. Came back into town and had to eat here again. I always get the brisket. The tacos and quesadillas are amazing. If you haven't ate here you have to try it. My favorite brisket tacos in any state ( I travel for work weekly ). This place is very quaint. Although it is connected to another side due to the same owner their food is very tasty. Prices are reasonable and I enjoy the atmosphere. I have always had a good experience with the staff and the surroundings. It is good for gathering or an date night. The food is prepared fresh to order. I will share that it can get pretty packed Friday and Saturday's. So if you want a nice intimate dinner or a place to celebrate this is a fantastic place to go! read more

This is a great, no frills Mexican restaurant in Grapevine. I was in town for business and wanted some Tex Mex with decent margaritas. Baja Mexican Grill fulfilled that desire. The decor isn't much, and don't expect awesome table service (although the guy who made the guac tableside was very nice albeit a non-English speaker). Drinks are tasty and large. We shared the guacamole, which probably could have used more salt but was very good mixed with the salsa. I had the carnitas, and they were awesome. Full of flavor, just a little crispy, and oh so good with guacamole and some fresh onion and cilantro. The food here is pretty good, kinda expensive for what you get but like I said, It's not Bad! The REAL reason we all go here though is for the margaritas!!! They are by far the best place to get a margarita here in Grapevine, TX. Aside from them being HUGEEE and flavorful, they are Stronggggg!! I'm no light weight, but these margaritas are legit!! Especially if you get one of the more top shelf Rita's. They deffinantly don't skimp out on the tequila! I'll usually get a Perfect margarita or the tropical strawberry. I usually only get frozen so I'm not too sure about the margarita's on the rocks, but I'm sure they are equivalent to their frozen counterpart. Have been going to Baja for 20 + years. Took us about 15 minutes just to get chips and salsa. Not the friendly service we used to receive. White rice with brisket tacos? What sort of Mexican restaurant serves white rice? All of the pictures on the walls donated from people in the community gone... and when asked they told me they will not be putting them back up. Does this mean they just threw hundreds of pictures away from people that donated them to Grapevine's Baja??? Baja is nothing like what it was/ used to be and it is a disappointment. Are they under new management?? Why fix something that's not broken? We have known the servers for YEARS and now there is no sort of community or familiarity to this restaurant. It is a shame that my family and I will have to find another restaurant to get acquainted with. read more

This place is my favorite Mexican in the area (way better than uncle Julio's down the street). I use to just come here for the margaritas but lately I've tried a lot of the good and it hasn't been a disappointment! The grapevine street tacos are the best tacos I've ever tasted with flavorful fajita meat and side of pico, beans, lettuce, gauc, and sour cream. It can definitely be split between two people and people will probably be taking bites out of your order b/c it's so good! We had about 20 people go last night for my son-in-law's birthday. I love Mexican food more than anything and one very important thing to me is the hot sauce. If a restaurant has bad hot sauce then I am done with them. This is not the case for Baja as I fell in love with their hot sauce. I had the Pollo Pablano. Grilled chicken with a creamy poblano sauce mushrooms, peppers, and onions, served with rice and beans. Oh my God I fell in love with it. It should've been served with flour tortillas but honestly I had eaten so much chips and salsa that I just couldn't fit them in so I did not ask for them and I only ate about 2/3 of my meal because I was so extremely full and it is a very large meal. Wow, the Perfect Margarita here is just that, Perfect. Their brisket taco's are great, love em, the vegetable side is also awesome and one of the few places I eat veggies. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 star is the service. Half the time it's great and there are people waiting on you every time you turn around, the next time you go though you might wait 5 minutes for chips/salsa then another 5 for drinks and then 10 before they come back to take your order. I have only gotten drinks here. Inside decor leaves a little to be desired, but every margarita I have tried is big, flavorful and STRONG! Make sure you get a good tequila. I like them frozen. I really don't understand the hype behind this place. Every time I go, I'm disappointed. Not only is the food overpriced, it's not good either. The service is subpar and I've had to wait over an hour for food several times. It's only saving grace is the drinks, which are also too expensive. If the food was better, I wouldn't mind paying $12+ for an entree, but since it's not... I feel like uncle julios across the street would be a much better option. I've yet to have a dish here that didn't leave me feeling like I've been ripped off. The food isn't authentic, it costs too much, and it's way too easy to run up a $70 tab at this place while feeling unsatisfied.
