I can't give a food review because the employee at 8821 180th S never bothered to take my order. I have always wanted to try this place and when I saw one on my way to my new home my dog and I stopped. This place was not busy. There was no one in the drive thru and a family of 4 or 5 sitting down. I saw the 3 employee working on an order so I just waited. I was at the counter foe more than 5 minutes. One of the ladies that was working came in front to hand the family some of their order. This person NEVER acknowledged that I was standing in front of her, NEVER said, " I'll be right with you" nothing. I am almost 6 ft tall, pretty hard to miss, but apparently I was invisible today. It really is quite sad when customer service means so little to a company. We put in an order through door dash, but when we got the food, they had forgotten every single salsa. The rest of the family decided to eat their food kind of bland, but I figured this isn't what I paid for (and they aren't exactly cheap for what you get) so I got in my car, drove all the way there and asked for the salsa we clearly had on the order, and a fresh burrito, as it would be over an hour old by the time I'd get home again, but oh NO I could have the salsa, but would have to contact door dash if I wanted a new one. Ultimately my inconvenience and time meant nothing to them, and they rather prove a point and lose a long time customer than taking responsibility for "forgetting" parts of the order. Believe me, I'm aware that mistakes happen, we are only human, but having worked in the restaurant business and customer service for years, I know how little they would have needed to do, to get a completely different outcome, and kept a customer happy. After eating here 3 or 4 times, I will say its a clean restaurant with good counter service. The modest portions of food is just ok and prices are on the high side for just okay fast food. Like many fast food places, the soft drink & ice tea pricing is ridiculous! I spent $21.00 to feed the 2 of us for a very basic chicken taco salad, chicken fajitas and 2 ice teas. A step above the larger popular taco chain but at double the price. I do like the fresh salsa bar however In my opinion eating here is a poor value and my reason for repeating visits is the speedy service while on a road trip. Granted this is only the second Baja Fresh I've been to, the first in Thousand Oaks CA both times I've had the Mexicano Burrito and both times I've been pretty pleased and full to the brim. Prices are a bit expensive but both times I've been to one it has been pretty clean. I love the different salsas and the peppers I'll be back to some other Baja Fresh when I'm nearby one. read more

Update.... Recently, it looks like my most favorite salad in the world has been made smaller! Much smaller! Super disappointed! I found this out on a day my boss was buying lunch. I placed the 5 person order for pickup. Not a big deal. He arrived and was told the total was $256!!!!! Obviously, not our order. They insisted it was his. I had to speak with the manager myself to tell her what we ordered and confirm to them his name was not David, and the 18 fajitas were not ours!!! Turns out they had our order the whole time. That process was about 15 min. My boss returned, I went through the bag to realize that my tostada salad was missing. I had to drive back myself to pick it up. I have never seen the place so busy. Line was out the door. The staff and management were all over the place, total chaos. I went to the front of the because I was already peeved I had to take time out of my lunch to get something that should have been in the giant bag with the rest of our items. I barely got an apology out of the guy that was helping me. No coupons, refund, NOTHING! This is 30 minutes wasted for $8! At least give me a coupon!!! This was very disappointing to me, especially to this location because I have been there many times. This really left a bad taste in mouth, not to mention the salad shrunk a quarter of the size. Absolutely disgusting. Ordered the Fuego Impossible Burrito and it was soggy from all of the water from the pico de gallo not being drained out. Cheese was soggy. No hint of the spicy sauce or salsa. Impossible meat had no detectable seasoning. Forgot ALL of our salsas, even though they accounted for six of the eight items listed on the receipt. Got a salad that was to be an entree and came out the size of a small side salad. Skimped on the chicken and not much dressing. The flavors are delicious throughout the whole menu and the salsas are uniquely Baja Fresh. I've been eating Baja for YEARS and it's always been yummy. I went back to the counter to ask for salsa. She handed it to me and said "you know we are closing soon, right?" Wow! I asked if we could finish our dinner (still had 30 minutes until close). I wouldn't typically review a mass chain restaurant because they will still get business regardless of the reviews, but this specific location speaks for itself. In my eyes, it's it own restaurant because I grew up going to only one Baja Fresh so I thought there was only one around. I later discovered that there's multiple & got excited to see one where ever I travel to, but it's never the same. For some reason, the quality of food is not the same anywhere else even if I order the exact same thing so therefore I shall only go to this specific location in Kent. Service here is great also, it's suppose to be fast-food like so it's self serve, but if it's not slammed, the staff there does go out of their way to bring out your food to your table and come check up on you every now & then to see how everything is and if you need water. Most of the time, I just order to-go & although they do offer chips while waiting, they have gotten faster over the years so I don't even bother trying to snack anymore because I won't finish it before they are done preparing my food. I have seen many franchises come to the northwest and fail but if they do survive the quality isn't as good for whatever reason as where they originated from. The seating area was clean and the salsa bar well stacked. But walking into the restroom was a disaster. The urinal and toilet were both not working but had been used a few times. Calling this Mexican food is insulting to Mexican people. Calling it food at all is insulting to the entirety of humanity. Nachos, a quesadilla and two small tacos cost $40. I like my baja burrito enchilado style. So tasty and I always have leftovers. I'm a BIG fan of Mexican food so an A1 rating from me means the food tastes fresh and is seasoned well. I understand that business hours must be respected both ways. As a well seasoned restaurant manager I must acknowledge that especially if labor is a factor. However, if I arrive at the business before closing time and I don't mean seconds I'm referring to within a ten minute window time before closing and the doors are locked all around the business and all you see is employees cleaning, wiping it all down? I had better Baja Fresh experiences. I can't think of any excuses to justify business doors locked before business operation hours period. Bad for building positive guest experiences. Wahoo.... we eat at Baja Fresh regularly and we really think it is great. Really reasonable prices, especially with coupons, great fresh food, quick service with friendly folks, super salsa bar, clean, convenient and rarely crowded. We have used them for catering as well. Gave this place another try after a year and a half of not dining here. Boy, was that a mistake. The menu is unclear, hard to understand how pricing works. You ask them to put something on the side and they repeat it like six times to you, but the entree still gets drenched in whatever you asked for it not to have. I wouldn't have gotten certain things had I known they cost extra, but it isn't clear on the menu what comes with an item or what is extra. Couldn't even understand the guy taking our order. Very loud atmosphere. Lots of tables, but most of them are dirty. They have a salsa bar, but good luck getting to it - people camp out in front of it loading up on salsa and jalapenos to take home. Food was terrible. I had two bites of my like $8 chicken tacos and was like NOPE and tossed them out. I can't even describe what it the chicken tasted like - certainly not like chicken - and the tortilla was so soggy.... ugh it was just bad. Didn't bother to even complain cause I will not be coming back. This place doesn't even begin to compare with Chipotle, Mucho Burrito - or even Taco Time for that matter. FOOD POISONING ALERT: I used to come into this place often. Today we took our boss out to lunch to this place. A few of us got sick, including me who had to go to the bathroom before I was even done with the burrito. I called the store and spoke with the manager to advise him that the steak in my burrito did not taste fully cooked. I also advised him that their food has made a few in group sick and that he better check the food preparation. He advised me that his food is safe, which essentially translated into a "we're not going to take responsibility for this and look into this." Had a craving for nachos so decided to try this place out. I ordered the chicken nachos, pretty generous for toppings but there wasn't that much chicken. The nacho's cheese is just melted jack, and I wanted the melted bad kind, which they have, and I ordered on the side . It came with even more chips! The pico de gallo is tasty, the tomatoes are sweet . They have an area with various salsas, fresh cilantro, and jalapeños. I think this place is the "healthy" version of Mexican food so it's more about fresh foods. read more

I find it easy to like any place that has a salsa bar. I love being able to drown my food in salsa and completely cover it in cilantro. Some lime squeezes are a nice addition too. I also find the side of chips and guacamole to be quite the deal, as you truly get a huge serving of guacamole which seems so small every where else. The employees at this location are friendly and always accommodate my food preferences. My boyfriend did complain his quesadilla was too cheesy on our last visit but I think this is probably a dislike that no one else shares. Food is large here too so I often end up taking some to go and eating it later. The water did taste a little funny coming out of the soda dispenser on my last visit, but hopefully this will be fixed soon. read more

We have been coming here for sometime. I had a very dissapointing experience today and was shocked. I have alot of good alergies so I always get a fresh green salad with a plain grilled chicken breats with no sugar, salt of oil or it will end me up in the E.R. So I call in our lunch order and Im told they can not do it. Your telling me that as restuarant doesnt have one plane chicken breats that has not been marinated?I think not! I have worked and ran restuarants all of my life. I give this place 3 stars however because the rest of thier food is very nice looking clean place and sweet people. They have a good variety of other salsas - green, standard tomato, and range from mild to " What the hell did I just put in my mouth?!?" hot. Ordered online for pick-up after passing by it when driving and I got the wet shrimp enchiladas, my group got a variety of chicken burritos, nachos, and salad. The food was delicious and worth the cost, the register person was nice and I was able to get my order pretty quickly. I haven't been able to find a Baja Fresh since the one in Everett relocated and that one used to be my go-to spot for authentic and filling food. I'm so glad I found this spot cause now anytime I'm in the area, I can drop by. You all know Baja Fresh was bought by Wendy's back in 2002, right? So basically this is Mexi-Wendys. Good points - the people are polite and competent. The salsas (which they make by adding water to a mix they get) are consistent. Generally the food is good - I'm a regular for the ultimo burrito - but sometimes the sous chef (or whomever does the prep) does not chop up the green peppers enough, and I wind up with too much green pepper or a huge hunk of green pepper, and little or no red pepper. Bad points - it's in a crappy strip mall - adjacent to a Wendys!! Plus their prices are steep - about a dollar more than they ought to be in this economy. The consistency of the product varies, depending on who is cooking on what day. Some days the burrito comes out with the right proportion of ingredients, some days not. Last time I was in there, they actually gave me the wrong meat, which was a first, and hopefully not a sign of a decline in the level of quality and service. I could do a whole rant about how everyone who works here (and in Wendys also) probably is an illegal alian etc but this is Yelp not the Politico so let's move on. Basically if I'm too lazy or in too much of a hurry to drive to downtown Kent or up to Seattle to get genuine Mexican cuisine and I have a jones for a burrito, I'll pull off 167 and spend the $8 and shove some Baja Fresh down my gullet and be in and out in twenty minutes. read more

I'm a salsa fanatic, could drink that stuff!! My go-to's: burrito mexicano, burrito ultimo w/no cilantro, or nacho burrito. The latter is a splurge as it's pretty high in calories. Prices aren't too bad, $7-8 for a large burrito that usually gets me through 2 meals. This is a basic extension of the Baja Fresh chain. There's really nothing special that keeps me coming back, save for the Shrimp Quesadilla. Ermehgerd! You can really taste the smoked grill-yness (yes I made that up) of the shrimp. They're also super generous with the cheese inside and give you a generous portion.
