This brewery is brand spanking new in the West University area and overall has pretty good beers! It has some steep competition with some of the other breweries in Houston. Two things it needs for 5 stars: Expanded bathrooms! Expanded seating! Brand new in the Rice Village area. Basically across the street from Under the Volcano. This has a great laid back vibe, with a long bar, a few tables inside, and a significant outdoor area. They serve proper imperial pints and half pints. I always appreciate that. Service is great. The owners and bartenders try to accommodate everyone, and do a good job of that. Right now they only have 4 taps. A SMASH IPA, a West Coast IPA, Stout, and Honey Wheat. I was really impressed with how clean and balanced they are from the start. The SMASH is among the better IPA's in Houston as is. They have room for about 18 taps, I don't know if they plan on having unique beers for each, doubling up on some, or having guest taps? Though will be looking forward to seeing these guys grow, and feel the quality is a step above some of the other newer breweries around. A great spot in the Rice Village area. read more

Super cute (brand new) brewery located in West University. It's not very spacious like other H-town breweries, but it's worth adding to your rotation. There's an industrial warehouse feel with massive garage doors that open up to the patio (which somewhat doubles as the parking lot). No food, but you're more than welcome to order delivery, or enjoy the featured food truck of the night. There wasn't a food truck during our visit, but I'm told there's usually one present on weekends. The beer = solid! The staff was so pleasant and offered to serve us samples of every beer on tap. They were all pretty hop-heavy, which is okay with me! Plus, their beer is original, in-house brewed, so support these H-town brewers! PRO TIP: If you're not a beer drinker (what is wrong with you?), you're more than welcome to bring over a glass of wine from the wine bar next door! read more

I was so excited to see a brewery open up closer to me and away from midtown! This place is only open Friday-Sunday, so unfortunately you can't do a mini happy hour after work there. Also, this place is quite small (as many micro-breweries are). There's some seating indoors, but people seem to mainly sit outside on the picnic tables. They had a food truck when I went, but if you're so close to rice village it'd be easy to grab food from somewhere around there and then head over. I'm a lover of coffee and thus a lover of stouts, so thats the only thing I got here. Their stout is made using House of Coffee beans, so I like that they keep it in the Rice Village family. It was a good coffee stout. I think I still prefer Rocket Fuel over it, but 8th Wonder sets the bar pretty high. A pint of beer is only $6 and I think if you get a flight its $3 per tasting? Just get the pint. I don't think they have any Baileson pint glasses you can have and bring again and again, but perhaps that will change once they're opened for a bit longer. There's TVs everywhere also, and it looked like they're pretty big Astros fans, so if you want to watch the game, this would be your place. I love that this brewery has more of a neighborhood vibe than a hipster vibe. It makes it feel a little cozier :) read more

This is one of our new favorite places! It's a pretty small brewery which means you get to meet the owners (who are really sweet people), but they usually only have ~5 beers on tap. The great news is all their beer is delicious. I'm definitely more of an IPA fan and their Amarillo Hopkins is fantastic. My gf is more of a stout drinker and she's loved all their darker beers. They sell their beers in a full pint or half pint which makes trying all of them even easier! The whole place is dog friendly which is a huge plus for us. They have a different food truck each night - check their Facebook for who is scheduled to be there. And they have a deal with the wine place next door for any of your non-beer friends. You can buy wine next door and bring it over to Baileson. The only downside to this place is that they're only open Fri-Sun! read more

Stopped for Tila's Taco truck and loved the beer at Baileaon's. Parking was full so we had to park around the corner. Pretty sure we were the only ones there without a dog with us so I'm assuming they are very pet friendly. So most importantly the beers we had were great. I had the honey wheat and my bf had the coffee porter. Some of the better flavors compared to other Houston breweries. Definitely worth a stop! And if you're lucky enough to go when Tila's Taco truck is there you have to try it- delicious!! (Only down side is limited parking and too many IPA choices vs non IPA) Cheers read more

Excellent beer! I really enjoyed the "mo mo," (hazy ipa) especially. The place is small and filled up almost instantly upon opening on a Friday. That is a good sign though, right? Definitely a little warm to be sitting outside before 8pm in the Houston summer but the delicious cold beer made it worthwhile. Definitely worth a try. I will be back! read more

This neighborhood brewery is the perfect hangout and is exactly what Houston's Rice Village/West U. Area needs. I'm all for supporting small businesses and the owners of this establishment couldn't make it any easier. They're a wonderful couple and absolutely made us out-of-towners feel right at home. They focus on great beer and a fun atmosphere, and have created an environment where everyone really does know your name (cue Cheers music). Dogs are welcome, they have homemade healthy dog biscuits on deck for mans best friend. The place itself is named after their dogs Bailey and Jameson, and each of their beer names have a personal story behind them. This will be your new favorite spot if you like good people, good beer, and good business. Can't wait to go back next time we're in Texas. read more

Their beer is delicious. I drove all the way from Pearland, and I'm super glad I did. I had one of their delicious Hazy IPAs and their Oktoberfest. I'm picky about Oktoberfest Beers, I usually only like Oktoberfest beers from German breweries, but this one was on point. I brought my puppah and sat on one of the parking blocks because next to the neighboring wall was the only shade and one of the girls brought me a table. Awesome people. Come here. Drink some beer. Thankfully they are only open a few days a week so not to offend to many taste buds. I bar tend and live in the area so I try to make a point to visit and sample the new breweries popping up around Houston. As much as it's going to pain me to say this (because I want to keep the crowds away), Baileson is probably my top pick for new brewery from the past few years and pushed itself among the top of my overall Houston favorites. As a new venture, their operation is pretty bare bones, but it's got the amenities you need. Clean, relaxed indoor and outdoor seating, dog-friendly, and they managed to bring in an outside food vendor (Blue Smoke BBQ, another new venture) to handle the crowd. As for the beer, I have to say: well done. The coffee porter was smooth and flavorful, both IPAs were true to their style and very repeatable, and the rest of their lineup, an Oktoberfest and Honey Wheat were also very well done. I'm eager to both return for their current brews and to also see what else they try to master. Many breweries have one or two stinkers on the menu, but Baileson's whole line was solid. I've nothing but praise for these folks and I hope they are able to transition from their day jobs to running the brewery full-time. Our neighborhood needs a local brewery to call our own and these guys completely nailed it. I'm certain I'll be back time and time again. read more

Great addition to Rice Village neighborhood. The brewers rehabbed a derelict auto repair building and have carved out a small, engaging tap room and brewery- has an authentic, grunge vibe, in a good way. No food, but food truck is often on site. Feel free to import victuals. Beers were excellent; proud owners were behind the bar. Great craft beers, amazing atmosphere and owners that are always present to help explain the new beers on tap! The staff is always what makes these places "work" and no exception here! As a dog owner, this place welcomes my dogs with a fresh home made dog treat and bowl of water! Not uncommon to have 10 dogs around but all seem in control by the owners and well behaved. The food truck selection is broad and always very good!
