I'm not from Texas and we don't have anything like this back home in Kansas City, Missouri. But this was amazing best slushee I've ever had. Also the staff was excellent! They were all so full of energy and just seemed like they really enjoyed being at work and were very friendly. I recently moved to Dallas so I will for sure be returning! My drink also didn't generally come with an umbrella, but I asked for one anyways because I saw another drink had one. And the guy went and got me one. Yay! Snow cones even in the winter when the local stands are closed! Ice is very fine, which is delightful and the flavors I have tried are delicious. However, there is usually quite a bit of "snow" that doesn't get flavoring on it. Initially, I thought this was just BB's style, but noticed this was not the case at another location. I was also a little disappointed in the "cream." It's tasty, but reminds me of an icing and less like the traditional sweetened condensed milk of my childhood. I've only been here a few times. But every time I go I get something different and it's amazing. The first time I went I ordered a "Baby Strawberry" which is just simple shaved ice with strawberry syrup. I have to admit the shaved ice flavors are amazing. Although my aunt strongly disliked the watermelon syrup, she did enjoy the blue raspberry syrup. She orders a "Baby Watermelon and Blue raspberry with crème" which is shaved ice with watermelon and blue raspberry syrup with ice cream in the bottom. And she loved it. This is the shaved ice that would have been served by Kevin Costner's concession stand in Field of Dreams. Pick a size, pick a flavor (Dr. Pepper? Cinnamon? Vanilla? Chocolate? Fuzzy Navel? Pickle?? Hells yeah.). Add ice cream or whipped cream. Whatever gets you through the day. The BEST thing about a Bahama Buck's comes when you take it home and pour in about three jiggers worth of high-end rum. It's like a little bit of N'awlins in your house. Ok, here is why Im giving this place 5 stars. There is a large selection of sugar free snow cones AND they are sweetened with Stevia. It is so hard to find anyplace that has more there 3 flavors of sugar free anything. I got the toasted coconut which as pretty good. My Daughter got strawberry but we agreed that mine was a better. hubby got watermelon and pinacolada but alas he didnt like either of them. This Bahama Bucks is the only one near where I live so I go to it when I'm really craving it. Most of the time, I choose not to go because of the wait. I know the wait will be EXTREMELY long and the workers don't seem to play attention to much or try to get things out quickly for the customers. Almost every time I've gone, they have made my order wrong. I usually just get a baby/small birthday cake with extra sprinkles. They either never add the extra sprinkles or make me pay for it or they get one of the other orders wrong. I understand that they are low on staff but they do not seem to care on how long customers have to wait. I love Bahama Buck's but their service is terrible, it makes me not want to come back. The drive thru is supposed to be quick like what a drive thru is but it takes at least 10 minutes every time I've been there. And if you order there, it takes just as long or even longer. Holy cow depending on the weather you can get 4x the punches on your punch card. That is awesome because my four year old niece remembered a promise I made her about going to BB and decided to cash it out one night when it was 28 degrees outside. It was so cold, but so worth it because now I scored a free snow cone. They have tons of flavors, I usually get the cream soda, wedding cake, and I've cream flavors then get cream on top. It is amazing! You can also get ice cream(bluebell) inside it. Sounds weird but it's great. I have been a patron of this place for 2 1/2 years now and they never disappoint! Every person I have recommended this place to have been hooked from that point on. There are other "shaved ice" places in the area, but nothing compares. The flavors go on forever and they are always adding on seasonal/ or simply new flavors like Juicy Fruit, and each flavor taste exactly like their name. I am a big fan of their Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada with Cream on top. They are also open year round which most places like this are not. They offer coffees and other drinks if you are not into the shaved ice and even a fruit cup which comes with fresh Straberries, Bananas or an assortment and you can even add chocolate syrup or any of the other options they carry. The prices are not like your typical shaved ice place, but you are getting what you pay for! Trust me, if you go just once you will be hooked. read more
