Bagels And... has been around Annapolis since the early '80s and is family -owned and -operated. We were waiting for a pickup order nearby, and noticed that this was located in a strip plaza across the street; we were curious, so we stopped on by. They have various bagels, cream cheese, sandwiches, and even lunch/house specialties. We ordered: +an Everything bagel, toasted, with a Low Fat Scallion cream cheese +a Jalapeno bagel, toasted, with Jalapeno cream cheese Honestly, these were probably the worst bagels we've tried - the bagels themselves were just poorly made; not sure if they were just not fresh, if they were stale, if someone put too much of an ingredient or two in, or it was a combination of all the of the above, but it was just difficult to ingest. The cream cheese was super thick, and there seemed to have been some type of difficulty in spreading it on the bagel themselves. Also, the bagels were cut haphazardly. We each took a bite and tossed the rest. Service was kind of pushy, so you better know what you plan on ordering before getting in line; it's kind of hard, since the place is small, so once you go through the double doors, the staff is already waiting for you to put an order in. There was some sign and note on this place being recognized as having the best bagels back in '11; perhaps back then, but definitely no longer... Seating inside is fully closed, so it's just to-go only. I did like the painted murals inside. Tried to phone in order no one picked up the phone. I came in person ordered 2 bagels. One was correct the other a southerner with Swiss came with American cheese and sausage. Disgusting. Last time I ordered I ordered scallion cream cheese paid extra and no scallions. They have an egg surcharge now and it's expensive to buy if it can't be prepared as requested. Never again. Wonderful, local institution with delicious, fresh bagels in a variety of flavors. Contrary to the negative reviews, there is definitely seating and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I am glad they are ready to take an order when a customer arrives which I do not consider the least bit pushy or aggressive. If you need time to decide, they would never rush you. Finally, say hello to the new owner, Cindy. She is a long time employee who recently purchased the business and knows the place inside and out. I love bagels but there is a lot to be said for these bagels. I tried them later in the day and you need good strong teeth because they were hard. The service is indifferent not friendly but not rude. So get to work a little too early and tried a bagel cream cheese and the bagel was hard. So morning or early afternoon they are just that hard, they are not stale but hard. I will say this get the Lox spread on a bagel or any type of cream cheese, they really give you a healthy amount vs dunkin or Starbucks. As for the ambiance, the seating area is nothing fancy but its clean and they do have regulars. read more

Delicious bagels and cream cheese! What more do I need to say? Finding a GOOD bagel is not an easy ask these days. Lots of big chains have popped up, some other chains that have no bagel game at all even have them. But, are they any good? I don't need to tell you that quantity does not equal quality. Fortunately for us in the Annapolis area, there is "Bagels And..." I didn't grow up in New York, but I've had their bagels, and this Naptown bakery comes as close as you can get without importing the water or yeast or whatever magic goes into the Big City ones. The bagels are hefty, dense, but still somehow light and fluffy on the inside, with a pleasant outer crust. They have a ton of different flavors, too, including salt (my favorite), sesame, garlic, onion, everything, egg, and so on. We like to get the special, because it comes with a dozen bagels and a pound of cream cheese. I personally really like the olive-enhanced spread, but that's just me. They have many other modified flavors for your palette. Overall, what a great place! I wish we lived closer, but Crofton isn't THAT far away. A brief drive and we're in bagel paradise. Just be sure not to wait too long, as they close at 2pm most days! read more

I'm not here for the decor. The bagels are done right! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. What more could you ask for? Whitefish! Great whitefish salad. Yummy! Stay away from the pastries, they are typically stale. So why the three stars? Well, service. No, it's not the employees, they are usually nice. The owner is another story. Whether your ordering on the phone, "hurry, tell me what you want I'm busy!" or when he fills your order in store and forgets that he put you bag of bagels by the cashier and yells out, "who left this here! Its probably one of those idiots waiting outside! " meaning customers waiting outside for their orders because he only allows one person in at a time because of COVID. Finally one of the customers said it was mine and the owner is the one who put it there. Yep, very reminiscent of the Soup Nazi from "Seinfeld". You will not be micro-aggressed, you will be macro-aggressed! I'm a New York Jewish woman who knows good bagels! This is the best place to get bagels south of Pikesville. Be warned, they don't use preservatives so eat them today, or have them slice them at no charge and stick them in the freezer. We really enjoy this bagel shop. My kids love bagels and to be able to get fresh local bagels is awesome. We love the options but I do recommend going early enough to get a better selection. I love their plain and everything bagels. You just can't go wrong. They also have cream cheese, sandwiches, and offer a few pastries and cookies that are always delicious. I personally love their black and white cookie and it's all baked there. The staff is helpful and gets things done quick. I feel like we never wait and reminds me of some bagel places from home (Long Island, New York). The only thing that would really make it better is if the seating area was a bit more updated. Location and counter are basic, bare bones, dated, and worn. In store dining seems to be unavailable since COVID started. As of 10/2022, in spite of their website, a sign in the window says "Closed Mondays". Bagels, lox, kippered salmon, whitefish cannot be beat. SO RUDE. Would rate lower if I could honestly. Every time I've come here (2) I've been rushed, and talked and talked down to. I am located very close and have ordered ONE sandwich before and have picked it up no issues. ALLY the "cashier who does everything" (what she said verbatim) was extremely rude when I called to place a pick up order. I explained to her very respectfully that I have placed an order for one sandwich before and that it hasn't been a issue. I then asked if I could have an exception since I was literally sitting outside in the parking lot, and she tells me verbatim "there's no way you have ordered just one sandwich before. Not from here." I then asked her when that became a thing / rule and she said the owner made this rule. When I asked for her name she got even more defensive and asked me WHY I had asked for her name. It's extremely SAD and DISSAPOINTING that I can't visit my local bagel shop and get my food prepared prior to my arrival. I never see this place packed with people or orders so it's just really inconvenient whenever I'm in a rush. I've had better bagels but I support my local community the best I can, and today it's safe to say I won't be coming back due to the disrespect from ALLY. One of the best bagel places in Annapolis, well one of the two that I know of. They close their lobby at 2:45 for eating in, but you can get carry out up until 3 PM daily. Really fabulous lox and salmon, nova salmon for bagels. Big variety of bagels too! The shopping center is a little sketch right now but it is up-and-coming and I have a feeling will be amazing place in a few years. The new medical dispensary is going to open soon nearly 50 feet from the bagel place. So we can go get bagels and then go to the medical dispensary, quite the convenience. My biggest issue is having itvclose at 3 PM on weekends, I'm lucky to even get out of the house by 3 PM on the weekend, but it's a breakfast place and lunch so I can see that. read more

My first time as a patron and I will now be a regular! I ordered the New Yorker and somehow the order was incorrectly prepared, however the staff caught the error and corrected it before handing it over. Big Plus! Not only are their bagels lousey but so are their sandwiches. I ordered a sesame toasted bagel with nova lox, cream cheese, capers and onions. I asked for a nice slice of onion. Well i must havee been dreaming. I watched them put what appeared to be half a slice of lox on one side of the bagel and i questioned it and i heard the woman making it say "well that's a portion". The onions were little slivers. I had to go home and doctor it up but it was to no avail. It was $12.00+ and a total waste of money. I will never go back. Picked up a few bagels the other morning to try out to see if they lived up to the hype a lot of reviews gave them. 4 stars for bagel flavor selection, speed of service and cost (4 bagels + cream cheese was just under $10 after tax). 3 stars for taste though. The blueberry and spinach bagels were my favorite I found the everything and cinnamon raisin bagels to be underwhelming. Blueberry seemed to most resemble a NY style bagel, hard outside, crunchy outer and soft inside. The cinnamon raisin was the most doughy/most underwhelming of all the ones I tried. I'd return and try other flavors, or one of the breakfast sandwiches. I had no problem with service, I was in and out in a few minutes and everyone behind the counter seemed to be pleasant. read more

I have been coming here for years and it is family owned. The father and daughters. It is a downer especially in the morning when you are starting your day and this is your first stop prior to heading to work. A little morning cheer would be great! I've been coming to the bagel shop for 35 years. I order for holidays several times a year. Monday is the last day I will patronize this shop. The old man who bought the business is a grump and rude. On my last visit I was dismissed and insulted by him. The bagel was dry and flavorless as well. Naval Bagels and Uber Bagels are just down the street and have polite owners and fresh bagels. The food is good and they have good customer service but there are a number of things wrong with this place. I used to work there and personally, the manager is an ahole. Also, there are mice and roaches. The restaurant is very unhygienic. One of the workers blowed his nose and didn't wash his hands before going back to make food. If you too are craving boiled bread goodness, here is some info about this bagel shop: - Bagels And . . . offers an assortment of fresh and delicious bagels. A bagel with some butter or cream cheese wasn't going to cut it for me so I ordered the McNosh off of the "Anytime Specials" menu. That egg, chopped ham and cheese was just the protein I needed to power through my Saturday errands and housework. In addition to their Anytime menu, they also have a Bagelwich menu which has more lunchy items on it. - Bagels And . . . has been in business since 1962 and definitely has that "nostalgic" feel to it - kinda dated and bland like others have noted. (But don't worry, their food is still fresh and flavorful.) - The staff is very pleasant which I appreciate knowing that they get up hours before dawn to serve their customers. - The interior is small and when I was there, every table was taken. A busy restaurant is always a good sign. - I had to wait about 10 minutes which kind of seemed like a long time but it also gave me the opportunity to do some people watching. I noticed many people coming in and eagerly ordering large coffees and bagels. Also, some people were picking up large orders. The significant amount of foot traffic certainly gives me added confidence in this business. We just tried Bagels And... this weekend for the first time since moving to Annapolis. We had tried Naval bagels and felt that they didn't have the variety or cream cheese flavors we were looking for, feeling disappointed when we left. Bagels And... might not have an amazing new age exterior and dining area, but the charm of their family-owned business and the wide selection of breakfast and lunch bagel choices is great.
