I was excited to learn that Bagel World has a vegan cream cheese. Unfortunately they had run out when I visited. The manager (owner?) Sam was apologetic and made me a lightly toasted whole wheat everything with hummus. It was delicious. The bagel was that ideal combination of crisp on the outside and chewy within. Sidenote: I'm actually happy that the vegan cream cheese had run out -- it suggests that it is in demand, which makes this animal rights/welfare advocate hopeful. :) read more

IPDATED: I was emphatic that we could not eat garlic or onion. I asked that no garlic or onion bagels be put into my order. I got home and opened the bag and to my dismay, four out of 12 bagels were everything including massive amounts of garlic and onion. If I could give them a zero, I would because allergies need to be taken seriously The "OPEN" sign was off, no cars in the lot, BUT I approached the entrance. It is open. I let the staff know but she didn't seem eager to walk over to turn it on. My order; a dozen ( no blueberry, onion or garlic products), a 1/2 lb of Pastrami, Turkey, and Swiss. I grew up in Poughkeepsie so I went to Bagel World a lot as a teenager since the time it opened up. When they first opened up, their bagels were super fresh, prices were cheap, and the service was awesome and enthusiastic. I've noticed over the years, that all these things have changed overall: the bagels are not nearly as fresh, the prices have basically doubled, and the staff doesn't look so happy to be there anymore. My go to is the plain bagel (not toasted) with lox and cream cheese. A great bagel should never need to be toasted. Toasting a bagel makes a great bagel worse, but a bad bagel better. It is the ultimate leveler, but we this is in NY so we should be expecting some great bagels. Nowadays, my bagels are hit or miss, but the last few times I've went, the bagels are still pretty good with nice serving sizes. I've been coming here for years and it's always so good. One of my favorite things to order is a over easy egg on top of home fries. The home fries are so good and even have peppers and onions in them. My most recent fav combo has been an everything bagel with the bacon and cheddar cheese cream cheese. It's like eating a BEC on a bagel but not as heavy definitely recommend. Another go to favorite is sesame bagel with chive and onion cream cheese. Holy bagels....so many bagels to choose from!! We were in the area visiting family friends and were new to the area. I was very excited to see what foods we could try. Thank you Yelp - You helped me find Bagel World. And thank you to all that provided your feedback and experiences with your reviews. The bagels were good, they are the best we have ever had, but they were tasty and there were so many flavors to choose from. More flavors at once then I have ever seen at other bagel shops from New England to NY. The line was at the door when I walked in and that made me anxious - because I was hungry, I don't like crowds and I don't like to wait. The good news the line moves fast, because the staff is awesome. They are swift to help and recommend bagels if people are indecisive. They have bagel staff and beverage staff. There are no bottle necks and they fulfill orders so quickly! I was able to get a bag of bagels (without having to pre order) and a tub of cream cheese. I highly recommend this place over any chain any day. Get ready to carbo-load. :) read more

I absolutely love this place, the bagels are amazing. I have been here twice. First stop I had a strawberry cream cheese bagel and this time I tried the everything bagel. Given a 10 mile radius I would say its the best bagel. Free wifi but technically you should be off your phone and enjoying the deliciousness of carbs. I've been here twice now... with the same experience, disappointment! Now I have learned my lesson and will not return. There are at least 5 guys behind the counter looking as if they could care less and as SLOW as a sloth! I waited for about 10 minutes with two guys in front of me and they haven't even taken the first guys order. What the heck is going on there? This place used to be my favorite bagel spot in the Hudson valley. To be fair it could be because of covid but they have severely dropped off. When I checked in, Yelp tempted me with a bagel discount: buy 6, get 3 free. I didn't redeem it because I came in with my own coupon, buy 6 get 6 free. And their "dozen" is actually 14, which made it an even better deal. If the nearby Dunkin reports a decrease in bagel and sandwich sales, I bet part of that is caused by Bagel World. It's a really nice cafe, brightly lit, great menu, incredibly friendly staff, and I considered their prices reasonable. If I lived closer, I'd come here more often for breakfast sandwiches and some of those delicious cream cheese spreads. In order to satisfy my random craving for a bagel, I took off to bagel world - a place I've driven by many a time but never felt the urge to check out (until my "pregnant woman" craving took hold of me!) With a plethora of bagel and spread options, this place is fantastic! They make everything fresh and on premises so you don't have to worry about "stale" deliveries. I decided to go basic with a plain bagel (I'd go with with the everything but as I had to work after I didn't think others around me would appreciate it very much) and asked for the lox spread. Now I'm someone who enjoys alot of sauces on their food, and cream cheese on a bagel so I was quite pleased with the amount put on (I've found other locations to cheap out on the spread). The bagel was fresh and the lox delicious, creamy and had a good amount of lox. I'll absolutely make a return trip, and may consider a lunch here as well. They have a pretty nice size selection of sandwiches and wraps that look quite enticing! Great assortment of bagels and all types of cream cheese I never would have thought to try. I wasn't so adventurous this time around, but I'd love to taste some of their other options. Bagel World is a cute place in a strip mall, technically the Hannoush strip mall. All hail Hannoush. The staff was incredibly nice and they have a wide selection of bagels and cream cheeses. They made my coffee with milk and sugar, as God intended. So why not 5 stars? The bagel was fine. It was surely better than many bagels you can get far away from NYC, but it wasn't as fresh as I would have expected given I was there in the morning. But the real issue was the butter. I think they use whipped butter, because it was coating the bagel in a cloying and thick way. I wish they would use regular butter on the warm bagel so that it was melted when you get to eat it. read more

While visiting Poughkeepsie, we found ourselves in a hotel that had terrible breakfast -- so bad that we chose to venture out and pay for breakfast instead. Based on Yelp reviews, we tried Bagel World and we were *not* let down! The owner (or manager) took and delivered our order both days and he made us feel incredibly welcome. (It's always nice when people will look you in the eye and smile genuinely.) The bagels were of the lighter variety (less dense and chewy than some NY bagels). My husband had a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything and I had my standard -- lox and cream cheese on a plain bagel. Both were delicious! Bonus: good coffee and a big selection of pre-packaged beverages, too. We really liked Bagel World (and not just because our hotel breakfast was a 0/10).
