When we called to ask when they were made because these were not what we were expecting, the response was surprising: "Nobody else has complained". If we've gotten the correct response, which would be bring them back, and I'll give you new ones. They'd have gotten a loyal customer.

While some places dumb a ton of cream cheese on bagels to the point where I have to scrape it off and toss out the excess, Grand Bagels takes the exact opposite approach: a thin layer of almost nonexistent cream cheese. The last three times I've purchased a bagel with lox spread (one of the more expensive varieties!), there has been a MINIMAL amount of lox spread on the bagel. And for $5.70, that is completely unacceptable. This is a fairly recent occurrence. The first time it happened, I ignored it and wrote it off as a fluke. The second time it happened, I was perplexed and thought, "okay... one more try?" Today, it happened again. I'm aware of the hack that it's often cheaper at bagel shops to just order a bagel, sliced in half, and a quarter pound of lox on the side. But that's not always practical when on the move. The cinnamon raisin didn't taste like anything and had a cardboard texture. My husband had a BEC and they forgot the cheese. Also, if you get an omelet with home fries they put the potatoes INSIDE the omelet, not on the side. The baked salmon salad tasted like they dumped salt in it. The cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese had so much cinnamon in it, you can taste and feel the grains from the spice in your mouth. Way too much. The good: Staff is friendly. Chocolate chip cream cheese is good. The veggies they use for omelets are fresh. There are better bagel spots in the area. I've had Bagel Chalet in Merrick and it's much better there.
