I have been coming here for years. What's great about this place is they make their bagels on premise. What's awesome about that is the freshness. Today I got a baker's dozen. I always keep something to eat but put the bulk of the bagels in the freezer. They come in a paper bag. I transfer them into a ziplock bag before putting them in the freezer or refrigerator period while taking him out the bag, some were still warm and so soft. I wanted to eat them right then. I was able to stay disciplined. read more

Mother's Day, the place was empty for once on a weekend afternoon. The moment I walked in, I could already see two young ladies chatting at the counter look at me walk in, give each other a dirty look before walking to the counter where there were 6-8 young ladies working.if three of them said "hi" or "how are you" to me that would have been a lot. Instead I got a bunch of blank stares looking like "excuse me, we have gossip to talk about and you're interrupting it" before another girl walked over very friendly asking how I was and what I'd like to order. Only got a French Toast bagel with butter & syrup & could feel the other girls not wanting me to be there. I was once young myself & had "friends" who worked there who were the center of drama in their circles, so it wasn't quite a shocker to me. I'm sure if any of the older ladies who were probably off for Mothers Day were there, the ship would have been ran a bit more tight. Also came home to my bagel barely having any butter or syrup on it which I could put more on myself, but for almost $4 it would be nice to have it be more filled. read more

Ideal spot!. The best bagels and bakery goods. Bagel are of the quality Jewish bagels of the 1970s - hard to find today. Sandwich spreads & fillings are 'to die for'. This place is a definite go to for bagels!!! The service is great - attendants put good effort in making the sandwiches. Clean & welcoming space. read more

In the past this place has been my go-to place to get my morning bagel. Although there is usually a line, there isn't a long wait. This morning I noticed that they will now use Uber Eats/Door Dash/Grub Hub, etc. When I arrived there were two women, both working the grill. Neither one acknowledged me, and continued working. After waiting for more than five minutes, several customers had arrived. I politely inquired if we would be served, as I understood they were working on the "to go" orders; however, there were several of us waiting to be served. I was told that the "to go" orders had to be taken care of first. This was customer service, at its worst. The fact that customers who are actually in your establishment to be served, have to wait until all to go orders had to be made is horrible. Some folks are on their way to work and grabbing breakfast. It escapes me why one person could not make the orders for customers in the establishment and the other person make the to go orders. As a patron of your establishment, this was customer service at it's worse. After this experience, if I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Slowest service ever and gets orders wrong on uber eats so disappointed in this place used to be a favorite

Young girl with glasses at front counter was disrespectful. I asked for 2 bagels one toasted with butter, other toasted with nothing on it. She gets the order wrong and gives me attitude although she heard me incorrectly. I was trying to tell her that that's not what I ordered and she cuts me off saying that's not what I told her. read more

Absolutely delicious bagels and great service! I had a pumpernickel bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was hot, fresh and perfectly toasted. The cream cheese was also fantastic and there was just the right amount on my bagel. Not too much, and not too little. So good. read more

Pretty good bagel spot where you can get anything you want. Breakfast meat egg sandwiches on a bagel, heroes, anything goes. And the hours are great if you're an early riser! The bagels are pretty good. The dried out pre-sliced tomatoes and sloppy lox slices were a non-starter, for me. The lox were sliced maybe a quarter inch thick and vertically down the salmon - like how one might expect a sliced flat portion of a brisket. Proper slicing would mean you slice from mid-salmon, towards the tail, on a bias, so thinly that you can see the knife under the salmon as you're slicing it. And their bagel twists are loose, untwisting easily. Otherwise, pretty good. read more

If you are looking for the best BECSPK in the area, do not come here. Actually, do not even come close to here. The bacon was either microwaved yesterday or gently threatened with heat at some point in its life. The egg was both rubbery and wet, which I didn't know was possible. Not only was the cheese not melted, it was ice cold. This sandwich was an identity crisis on a roll. 1.2/10. read more

The lox and cream cheese on Bialy was fresh and well prepared. Great service. The lady who assisted us in getting everything done did a great job. All the counter employees were terrific. It was such a clean place. It looked great from the outside, and when I stepped foot inside, I liked it more because everything was so organized and easy to see and buy. They prepared a few fresh cream cheese containers for customers in a fridge. I grabbed the cinnamon raisins and walnuts, and Hubby grabbed salmon and cream cheese from the refrigerator. Then we ordered a few bialys. We didn't just grab and go, but we paid for them, of course lol. I highly recommend the place for the cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese. They made the best at this place. The Lox cream cheese I could do without because it had more cream cheese than the salmon. I liked their spinach croissant. That was excellent! read more

I haven't been here in a few years since so many bagel places have been popping up around this town and the competition has some great stuff. They are more modern, cleaner and also have great selections. What the competition doesn't have is a 24hr operation that offers delicious and fresh bagels and sandwiches around the clock. I forgot this. I popped in at 11:15pm starving and desperate and a friendly counterman was there took my order and I was on my way in no time and my sandwiches were delicious! Are they still the best in the neighborhood, that's a big debate, but are they the best place in town at 11:15pm? Absolutely. read more

-Always open, always great staff, always the freshest bagels around! Been coming to this convenient spot forever!

First visited in the mid-1990's, when a bagel at 4:00 AM was exactly what was needed to finish the night. Now, a visit to the area must include a stop by A&S for a breakfast sandwich, coffee, and a dozen or two bagels to take home. A great variety of fresh bagels made in-house, any time of day or night. read more

Disappointed. The stars are for the service. I didn't have a chance to try anything so I cannot comment on the food. I called in an order and when I arrived to pick it up no more than 20 minutes later, I was told the shift before left and no one told them about the order. The Saturday shift that was there in the early afternoon moved extremely slow and did not inform me of this until I asked for a third time about my order. They spent most of the time mumbling to themselves and then deciding they would attempt to remake. I left out. I did not expect that from this establishment. Especially because it has decent ratings. Customer interaction is important. I would have expected communication from the employees there and I would have expected for them to come off as if they were sorry that this happened instead of coming off like they could care less. read more

I came here based on the reviews. Inside they have an article saying this spot is in the top 20 in the US, a 2016 article in Newsday. As I wait, the line is getting longer and longer. I ordered my standard flat everything with scallion cream cheese. I also ordered an iced hazelnut coffee, 1st time for that. The wait time for my food was quick since they have 3-4 order takers/preparers. They only take cash so be prepared for that if you have a large order although the locals seem to know. The bagel was simply delicious and the hazelnut coffee was Devine I am not an ice coffee drinker, but this could change I definitely recommend A&S Bagels and will certainly return. My only gripe is they don't take cards as I don't often carry cash, but you can bet they have it! read more

I've been hearing good things about A&S for awhile now but I'm the type of guy that is like "If you've had one great bagel spot you don't need to try others". Don't be like me, try ALL the ridiculous bagel shops. When I walked in I noticed 3 things. - They only take cash - The place is 24 hours which is amazing - THEY HAVE FRENCH TOAST BAGELS Now there has only been 1 other place that I've been to that sells French Toast Bagels & I fell in love with them. A&S' French Toast Bagel is just as good as my 1st time trying them. Mouth Watering They get a 5 star off of that French Toast sausage egg & cheese ALONE!!! Lucky for me, EVERYTHING is delicious there. The egg salad sandwich did wonders to my mouth, I mean, You know what I mean Had it on an Asiago Cheese Bagel which was also outstanding. The cheese was just IT WAS GOOD OK!!!! They have the New York special also, that delicious black & white cookie which comes in regular or EXTRA large! I've been to A&S a few times so I was able to try the Blueberry, Cinnamon Raisin, & the TWIST! Let me tell you something, all of them were delicious BUT THIS TWIST THOUGH??? That's the new hotness. It's almost up there with the French Toast bagel. If the French Toast is a 10 well the TWIST is right behind it with a score of 9/10. All in all I Thank the heavens for delivering me these delicious bagels read more

This bagel place has been a staple for many years, it's open 24/7! So those drunken nights you want a BEC, you can head over here. They only take cash though, so they do have an ATM machine there for your convenience. The bagels are airy and fluffy, always freshly made. The BLTs they make are great since they shred the lettuce . The only downside is the parking. It's street only and it's on a very busy road on Hempstead tpke. I usually can get parking on the residential areas. read more

We have been living in the neighborhood for about 7 years, never tried this place because we were not a big fan of bagel. Placed my first order with this shop for a class party and everything worked out great! I requested each bagel to be either pre-butter or pre-cream cheese and wrapped individually. They processed my order correctly and the order was ready to be picked up by the time I requested. The bagels were fresh and all kids enjoyed it. Excellent services! Place sucks I've been there twice, both times order over the phone to pick up. There is no separate line to just pay. If I'm ordering over the phone it's to get there pay for my order and leave. Not wait in line with everyone that is ordering. Got an everything bagel toasted, bagel was cold and seedless by the time I got home and live 3 blocks away. Also never made the bagel, they had to make it on the spot. So disappointing, will not be going again. read more

I always go to bagel bagel, when visiting friends in Franklin square. I decided to give this place a try. Big mistake! Although the bagels were very good soft and fresh. The issue I had was the service they didn't write down the order I was placing, which in turn the employee or owner unclear walked away before I could finish telling him what I wanted. As he kept returning back to me and asking anything else? After I continued to order more things he commented to me a remark that was kinda snide about being a typical woman. Talk about a jerk! Maybe try a pen and paper next time! Well my 43 dollar order will never set foot in that establishment again.! read more

I'm stunned that when my parents were in the search for their first home, they happened upon a town that has arguably the best bagels in all of Nassau County. LOXYY LAAAADAY... Was craving a bagel. a GOOD bagel. so i looked up a spot with the most reviews. and i found A&S bagels on hempstead turnpike, let's go... Why yes :) Welcome to eastcoast bagels folks!! (note- these do have slight chew to them though, but still soft!) LOXY LADY... Damn Daniel. Gimme that Lox Daniel. It was pure heaven watching my bagier (bagel + cashier) delicately placing 5-6 perfectly sliced pristine pieces of lox WHOA EASY ON THE CHEESE.. Ask for "easy" on the cream cheese. I had way too much. I prefer a bagel with some cream cheese, not cream cheese with a side of bagel....If you know, you know PRICEY & CASH ONLY Cash only.
