Mother's Day, the place was empty for once on a weekend afternoon. The moment I walked in, I could already see two young ladies chatting at the counter look at me walk in, give each other a dirty look before walking to the counter where there were 6-8 young ladies working.if three of them said "hi" or "how are you" to me that would have been a lot. Instead I got a bunch of blank stares looking like "excuse me, we have gossip to talk about and you're interrupting it" before another girl walked over very friendly asking how I was and what I'd like to order. Only got a French Toast bagel with butter & syrup & could feel the other girls not wanting me to be there. I was once young myself & had "friends" who worked there who were the center of drama in their circles, so it wasn't quite a shocker to me. I'm sure if any of the older ladies who were probably off for Mothers Day were there, the ship would have been ran a bit more tight. Also came home to my bagel barely having any butter or syrup on it which I could put more on myself, but for almost $4 it would be nice to have it be more filled. read more

In the past this place has been my go-to place to get my morning bagel. Although there is usually a line, there isn't a long wait. This morning I noticed that they will now use Uber Eats/Door Dash/Grub Hub, etc. When I arrived there were two women, both working the grill. Neither one acknowledged me, and continued working. After waiting for more than five minutes, several customers had arrived. I politely inquired if we would be served, as I understood they were working on the "to go" orders; however, there were several of us waiting to be served. I was told that the "to go" orders had to be taken care of first. This was customer service, at its worst. The fact that customers who are actually in your establishment to be served, have to wait until all to go orders had to be made is horrible. Some folks are on their way to work and grabbing breakfast. It escapes me why one person could not make the orders for customers in the establishment and the other person make the to go orders. As a patron of your establishment, this was customer service at it's worse. After this experience, if I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Pretty good bagel spot where you can get anything you want. Breakfast meat egg sandwiches on a bagel, heroes, anything goes. And the hours are great if you're an early riser! The bagels are pretty good. The dried out pre-sliced tomatoes and sloppy lox slices were a non-starter, for me. The lox were sliced maybe a quarter inch thick and vertically down the salmon - like how one might expect a sliced flat portion of a brisket. Proper slicing would mean you slice from mid-salmon, towards the tail, on a bias, so thinly that you can see the knife under the salmon as you're slicing it. And their bagel twists are loose, untwisting easily. Otherwise, pretty good. read more

The lox and cream cheese on Bialy was fresh and well prepared. Great service. The lady who assisted us in getting everything done did a great job. All the counter employees were terrific. It was such a clean place. It looked great from the outside, and when I stepped foot inside, I liked it more because everything was so organized and easy to see and buy. They prepared a few fresh cream cheese containers for customers in a fridge. I grabbed the cinnamon raisins and walnuts, and Hubby grabbed salmon and cream cheese from the refrigerator. Then we ordered a few bialys. We didn't just grab and go, but we paid for them, of course lol. I highly recommend the place for the cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese. I haven't been here in a few years since so many bagel places have been popping up around this town and the competition has some great stuff. They are more modern, cleaner and also have great selections. What the competition doesn't have is a 24hr operation that offers delicious and fresh bagels and sandwiches around the clock. I forgot this. I popped in at 11:15pm starving and desperate and a friendly counterman was there took my order and I was on my way in no time and my sandwiches were delicious! Disappointed. The stars are for the service. I didn't have a chance to try anything so I cannot comment on the food. I called in an order and when I arrived to pick it up no more than 20 minutes later, I was told the shift before left and no one told them about the order. The Saturday shift that was there in the early afternoon moved extremely slow and did not inform me of this until I asked for a third time about my order. They spent most of the time mumbling to themselves and then deciding they would attempt to remake. I left out. I did not expect that from this establishment. Especially because it has decent ratings. Customer interaction is important. I came here based on the reviews. Inside they have an article saying this spot is in the top 20 in the US, a 2016 article in Newsday. As I wait, the line is getting longer and longer. I ordered my standard flat everything with scallion cream cheese. I also ordered an iced hazelnut coffee, 1st time for that. The wait time for my food was quick since they have 3-4 order takers/preparers. They only take cash so be prepared for that if you have a large order although the locals seem to know. The bagel was simply delicious and the hazelnut coffee was Devine I am not an ice coffee drinker, but this could change I definitely recommend A&S Bagels and will certainly return. I've been hearing good things about A&S for awhile now but I'm the type of guy that is like "If you've had one great bagel spot you don't need to try others". Don't be like me, try ALL the ridiculous bagel shops. When I walked in I noticed 3 things. - They only take cash - The place is 24 hours which is amazing - THEY HAVE FRENCH TOAST BAGELS Now there has only been 1 other place that I've been to that sells French Toast Bagels & I fell in love with them. A&S' French Toast Bagel is just as good as my 1st time trying them. Mouth Watering They get a 5 star off of that French Toast sausage egg & cheese ALONE!!! Lucky for me, EVERYTHING is delicious there. The egg salad sandwich did wonders to my mouth, I mean, You know what I mean Had it on an Asiago Cheese Bagel which was also outstanding. The cheese was just IT WAS GOOD OK!!!! They have the New York special also, that delicious black & white cookie which comes in regular or EXTRA large! I've been to A&S a few times so I was able to try the Blueberry, Cinnamon Raisin, & the TWIST! Let me tell you something, all of them were delicious BUT THIS TWIST THOUGH??? That's the new hotness. It's almost up there with the French Toast bagel. If the French Toast is a 10 well the TWIST is right behind it with a score of 9/10. This bagel place has been a staple for many years, it's open 24/7! So those drunken nights you want a BEC, you can head over here. They only take cash though, so they do have an ATM machine there for your convenience. The bagels are airy and fluffy, always freshly made. The BLTs they make are great since they shred the lettuce . The only downside is the parking. It's street only and it's on a very busy road on Hempstead tpke. I usually can get parking on the residential areas. read more

The issue I had was the service they didn't write down the order I was placing, which in turn the employee or owner unclear walked away before I could finish telling him what I wanted. This was my first time there and the staff was super nice. It seems to be a very popular stop because there were people coming in and out. The wait is not too long either as they try to help each customer quickly and efficiently. I had the "Anna Banana" on a cheddar bagel and it was very good. I would recomend trying it!
