Bagel Boss is a casual, local place that has great bagels and so they make great bagel sandwiches. You can sit down alone and relax or with friends here. Have to disagree with Stacy a bit. Their cinnamon raisin is on point. It's one of my favs But then again, I don't put lox and onions on it. It's either butter or cream cheese They always have a variety of fresh bagels on hand from oat bagels , everything, pumpernickel and even rainbow. As for the rugelach, go next door to the bakery. That's what I do. If u r lucky they will be hot out of the oven. And they usually have raspberry cinnamon or chocolate. read more

This is a busy location although they need work to improve their workflow but who is taking orders they have a selection of approximate eight bagels and a deli area I asked for a quarter pound of chicken salad and they said they didn't have any but I'm pretty sure that I saw it. They had a multitude of prepared sides. They had cream cheese for purchase in the cooler which was 6.35 for .5 pound so if you're taking it home, just buy your own cream cheese. Grabbed a quick breakfast with my boyfriend on Sunday morning. He ordered an everything bagel with butter & I got a plain bagel with cream cheese + tomato. For both orders, it came out to less than $5.50, which is a really nice change from city prices. Overall, no complaints - it was a quick grab & go. I went in this morning to buy a few things including a medium coffee. They charge $4 for a medium, hot coffee!!!! Nothing special to it...just a run of the mill cup of coffee. I would expect to pay this price at Starbucks. I will not be returning due to this huge turnoff to this extraordinary price. read more

Bagel Boss of Oside is pretty mediocre. Bagels tend to be really bland and dry! I swear there only 2 people working the counter at a time which makes for the long lines out the door, and sometimes you can be waiting 20 min on line. We needed a bagel place that could feed 10 of us. Hugo was so helpful and friendly and very patient taking our order even though it was busy and loud. He triple checked everything was right and even gave us a free coffee. He was awesome and I noticed he knew the names of a lot of people coming in. Great customer service. The bagels were delicious and fresh, I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese with tomatoes, onions and capers. It was divine. I highly recommend! read more

Okay, we have been here twice now. Each time, the food is good (maybe even great) and the service is just shy of dismal. FIRST VISIT: I discover they have "low carb" bagels, very cool. How low carb, and do I believe what they say? Not sure. But if they are a few grams less than standard bagels, great). We ordered two toasted bagels with lox and the works. And then waited what was at least 20 minutes. But, the sandwiches were totally delish. Plus, they included coleslaw (or optionally potato salad), and pickles. The slaw was actually amazing, almost (not quite) like grandma used to make. We were very impressed and enjoyed our meals. At around $11 each, with the sides, a reasonable price. SECOND VISIT: We are attended to by a guy in his early 20s. I say "two bagel and lox sandwiches" and then things go off the rails. He can't get that we want TWO, for some reason he think my GF wants 2 on her own, he can't get the order of what types we want correct, and this goes on a few minutes until another worker steps in to set him straight. We tell him, bagel #1 gets lox, cream cheese, tomato, onion." Bagel #2 gets the same, but no onion." And this goes back and forth a bit. Then he comes back to ask if we want them toasted, we say yes. And then we wait. Not as long as the first visit, but a while. Finally, he is done and we pay and leave. Once home we open the bag and find that: NEITHER BAGEL WAS TOASTED. NEITHER BAGEL HAD TOMATO SLICES. And the coleslaw was NOT the same as last time. This was nothing close to grandma's, rather, it was just very average commercial tripe that many of us would pass on. Nothing special. I got the egg white and spinach tuna salad wrap. It was flavor less less like none. I asked for a croissant but when I started driving I realized they never put it in the bag. But by the looks of it send that they charged me for it. They were polite and had good customer service but they should really write Down there orders. I love bagels, though I rarely eat them, and I grew up with this Bagel Boss on the corner of my street. Whenever I go to visit my parents I look forward to the bagel & (scallion) cream cheese in the morning. The bagels are pretty uniformly very good, in my experience, and I would stick to those rather than being tempted by the plastic-containered palmiers, rainbow cookies and non-fat muffins that they offer too. Mario's next door is the place to go for sweets, for sure, so just go there after getting your bagel! Service is not the quickest, but that's okay, cause every visit here kinda feels like a relaxed Sunday. I couldn't recommend the coffee, per se - even the availability of flavored coffee knocks some points off your score, in my book - so just stick to the bagels and you'll be happier! read more

I went to few different bagel boss & this one happen to be the one with worse service I ever received. I walked in, no one is there to take order. 2 person walked around & not even once bother to ask me if I want anything. Then I finally said good morning & then one person came up to me & asked me what I want to order? Then when I finally got the bagel, barely any cream cheese & my bagel was totally burned. It literally took more than 10 minutes to make that. I also asked for quarters pound egg white spinach & the guy literally asked me loudly "anything else"??? I kind of felt like he was feeling bothered. Then when he was bagging the bagel & egg spinach, he asked me do u need spoon? I said yes, he literally shoved one fork with piece of napkin. Come on guy, how am I suppose to eat the egg spinach??? With my barehand!!! One thing I definitely noticed that they are more friendly & respectful to customers who are from the town who comes regularly & I definitely felt like I'm a outsider don't belong there. read more

Love this place! We come here at least once a week for pumpernickel bagels with cream cheese and oat bagels with eggwhite spinach salad. The bagels are always phenomenal. Toasted and crusty on the outside, dense and chewy on the inside. The coffee is good and the staff is always super nice! They have fresh B&W cookies and a great bakery case, as well as some gluten free options for when my sister comes along (fresh fruit, omelettes, gluten free linzer torte cookies, tuna salad, etc.) read more

The bagels are great. I usually get a lightly toasted bagel with lox, cream cheese, and sliced tomato. Knocking one star off because the service can be hit or miss. Sadly, it's due to one worker in particular. I don't know his name, but he can be described as the typical high school / college guy working there part time. He doesn't listen, has a bit of an attitude, and if your meal comes with anything (e.g. Free side salad), he will assume you don't want the item. Everyone else that works there is great. A very nice, convenient and helpful place when you are in need of bagels and all the salads you can think of. Even when the Jewish holidays came and we needed to place a pretty big order almost at the last minute, they were able to accommodate us and supply us with everything we needed. I am a fan of their salads . . . they offer the standards, but dressed up or with a twist. The egg salad is egg white salad with spinach (although I am sure they have the regular egg salad as well), the smoked whitefish salad is soooo good -- it is smoky, creamy and just damn good. I've also ordered their lox as well which were fresh and cut very thin. And they have a nice seating area where you can enjoy your sandwich / salad. Keep in mind that while you can get an egg sandiwich here, it is a Kosher shop and therefore it is dairy only (no breakfast meat to be had). Also (for what it's worth), although the bagels are good, they don't rank as my favorite in the area -- these just are not as hearty as you get elsewhere as far as I am concerned -- but topped with your favorite shmear, and fish (or salad), it makes it all that much enjoyable. read more

The bagel was fine, the rice was ok and the cheese blintze had cherries in it which made the whole thing much to sweet. (I made it clear to the server that I wanted just a 'cheese' blintze but she obviously didn't care.) Even when I lived in the area, like now, i usually visit the Bagel Boss in Merrick, 10 minutes east. It's not that I don't like it here, but a matter of convenience. That being said, I love the bagels here. The are a meal unto themselves. I like them even better with some veggie tuna fish. read more

I go here for my breakfast. Whole wheat flat with scallion cream cheese. Awesome bagel id say. Cream cheese tastes just right. Hot coffee I think is very good and ice coffee fails right behind it. Usually a very satisfying breakfast for me although can be a little pricy. Usually runs me about $6 for bagel and coffee . Staff is alright in friendliness. Nothing to talk about but not rude either.
