Bells bialys is a store that is off the beaten path in Oceanside. You walk into the store and you give you order to a gentleman who is behind a small open window. On my first voyage to the store I bought bialys which you buy by the dozen, Flats which you buy by the dozen and bagels which you can buy by a half dozen. Everything that I brought home was delicious. Nice and fresh. It brought me back to my childhood in Brooklyn. I am hooked. I wik be coming back for more. My one piece of advice is bring cash. They do not take credit cards. read more

I'm disappointed once again in trying to find a flavorful bialy with the right doughy consistency. These had no onions nor oniony flavor. The dough was also too soft. It was one step up from white bread closer to an English muffin (but not as heavy). All in all not close to a bialy from 40+ years ago. Then Kossar's was the go-to place. Alas Kossar's has not been the same for that length of time. It also has produced tasteless bialys for all those years. They've been bought/sold once or twice. Bo's Bagels on 116st tries better than most. At least there is some flavor and onions. It's not the same as Kossar's was, but better than what's around if you desire a bialy. Went to Bell Bialy for the first time yesterday, Bialy's were fresh out of the oven and piping hot. The smell of onions was phenomenal. Didn't have one until the next day. A little disappointed because I didn't really taste that onion at all. Hopefully they'll put more onions in it in the future. read more

To my surprise, at 55 years old I had my first Bell Bialy, what a treat! I live in Alabama and had never even heard of them until I met a guy named Jim who introduced me to the original bagel folks at Bell. Not the Bialy I remember from NY in the 60's. This thing was just like the abomination that has now become bagels for the most part. Bialy used to be a bagel without the rising of the water boil as I recall. It was usually harder than a bagel and flour dusted. You could also see and taste the onions. This had 1 tiny spec of onion on a basically soft roll. I've made better ones myself. In all fairness I purchased these frozen at an Albertsons in Oregon, although I doubt that made the difference, but who knows? read more

I have been a customer of Bell Bialy since I was a child purchasung at their Canarsie location. When I passed by & they closed that location I was frantic. But low & behold just a relocation. No other baker makes the bialy roll which is the best. Staff is always courteous. Bialys are so fresh that you need to keep the paper bag opened because of the moisture from the hot goods. David I. As a long time customer of Bell Bialy, starting in Brooklyn & now going to Long Island, the cockiness & attitude from the owner's son is worse than a child! If his intention is to drive customers away & destroy the business, he will succeed. In addition, the foul mouth from a worker & his horrific behavior was totally unwarranted!!! The scenario was as follows. After purchasing a number of bialys, we asked for TWO plastic bags. We were told "no". We offered to pay for the TWO bags, we were told "no"!!! Over the years, we have dropped hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Needless to say, we will no longer be buying our bialys from them. There are many other bakeries that would be more than willing to Give plastic bags!!! We will encourage all of you & we will be encouraging our family & friends to no longer do business with people who, apparently do NOT value their customers.
