I grew up in Woodmere so I used to visit Walls pretty frequently! Now that I've moved out East, very rarely do I go back to my hometown but last month was one of those times, it was my chance to visit Walls again! The bakery hasn't changed at all in over 50 years, just as I remember it! There's still the incredible smell of baked goods as you walk through the door! I ordered the Chocolate Bobka and a Black and White cookie, which was a must for me! They still make the best Black and White cookies! I was not happy at all to hear they no longer make their Chocolate Eclairs! Back in the day, walking home from HS, I would always pass Walls and I would buy an Eclair to eat on the way home! They were filled to the brim with delicious custard and the dough that held the custard with the chocolate strip on top was over the top amazing! The Chocolate Bobka was a little dry but still very good! Together with a glass of milk it was a great treat that brought back lots of memories! I'm planning a repeat visit next month, the Apple Strudel and Rugalach I remember being delicious so that's what I'll be getting when I return. I hope the owner is there, I'd really like him to reconsider bringing back the eclairs!! If you're in the area, try to visit Walls! Stopped in on Tuesday for a couple of maimi onion rolls and a chocolate babka. When I got home I grabbed a roll and it was stale! I was hungry so we ate them with butter. Definately a day old...Went back later to the store just to inform the owner he's selling old rolls. He walked over and agreed they were stale. He told me I could microwave them and they will soften up. I told him I don't buy rolls from a bakery to take home and miocrowave them soft. He wasn't even apologetic . I didn't even ask for my money back, but wanted him to know I returned because I expected it to be a reasonable mistake. If I want to buy day old stuff, he should label it as such, and not pass it off as fresh. Shame because there are no other Jewish bakeries anywhere close, if ther are, I will find them and shop there.... read more

Fabulous custom cakes, totally yummy standards like seven layer cake, rugalach, Bon Bons, cookies, you name it, they bake it! Service is NY friendly, meaning eager to help and fast! I went to Wall's Bake Shop several years ago and had their Philly Fluff and remember liking it a lot. Luckily absolutely nothing has changed and the Philly Fluff is amazing. The service is wonderful to have and whoever helped us was extremely accommodating and patient with my mom and I who are quite the indecisive duo. Went to see the in laws in Atlantic Beach. On the way is Wall's. It's a Jewish bakery that has been a pillar of the community for years. They have been coming here for 40 years and my fiancé thought it would be great to bring to their new house. It reminded me of an old school bakery. Lots of charm and nostalgia so I was a fan. A large variety of cakes and cookies. I wanted to try the marzipan pig, but with all the desserts I thought it might be too much. The chocolate on the cookies and babka were delicious. The center of the babka was bursting with chocolate flavor. The in laws were grateful and excited. My mother in law said she was so happy she wanted to cry. It has been awhile since they have been there. Stop in and continue the tradition or start a new one. read more

I grew up eating Wall's and so without fail, whenever I'm back home (and it's not that often) I make a stop to get a ridiculous amount of my all time favorite cookies and babka. This place hasn't changed at all in the last few decades I've been there and I'm sure since it opened, and I'm glad it hasn't. Walking in through the parking lot door is like walking through a Time Machine. Memories of being in there as a kid, and still feeling the joy of picking out our cookies makes me so incredibly happy. But, hate to say the red and green leaf cookies are gone - those were my fav but not to worry, all the other household favorites are still there, and still delicious. read more

My biggest fear is not getting covid again. It's getting covid, losing my sense of taste and never being able to taste a Walls brownie again. The creamy silky-milky chocolate tastes as scrumptious as it looks. Walls has something for everyone, including diabetics, as discussed in a prior review. But everything at Walls is amazing including the pastries (especially the Apple Charlotte), the black & white cookies (better than any I've ever had) and their unusual black & white cake, called "the Daisy". It tastes like a black & white cookie only better, if that's possible. I brought a piece to my ex-husband and he asked me to marry him again. Mark (?) the owner was there onsite managing three or so employees adding to and setting up trays of baked goods. They recommended one popular loaf cake, but had to go with the Babka. Was it good? Super. Hamantaschen equally good. Come here for reliable Jewish bakery, rugalach, babka, hamantashen etc. Nothing can replace the simple style of old fashioned, understated Jewish bakery items with your coffee or tea. I promise myself I'll never buy any sort of gas station, boxed pound cake ever again. I just had two slices or the regular pound cake and the one with chocolate chips and it has got me drooling. It's firm yet moist and I've never had anything like it. I went into Walls looking for Rugelach and various cookies. To start on a good note the cookies were delicious, and I have zero complaints regarding those. However, regarding the Rugulach I was disappointed to find out it was hard as a rock when I returned home to eat them. I went in on a Friday around 4pm. I decided to go back on Saturday to try and rectify the situation by getting my money back for the Rugelach, and was upset by the way the situation was handled. I went in their kindly asking for a refund, and my request was blatantly ignored. The man that helped me, who I assume is the owner was extremely insincere. He insisted they were made fresh daily, and regardless if that was true or not they were extremely hard and tasted stale. An apology was never given, and he gave me new Rugelach which I will say tastes fresh this time, nonetheless I was disappointed in the way the situation was handled. As a final note, amid this continuing pandemic it frustrates me the man who helped me Saturday wore his mask below his nose, when there is a sign on the door asking customers to wear a mask. read more

Went in to buy raisin pumpernickel bread and ordered half a loaf sliced. I was shocked when they told me it was $15.70. I never heard of any place that charges for bread by the pound. Not only was the price ridiculous, but the bread is 95% raisins as you can see in the pictures. It's also stale and most definitely not fresh. It is pretty much inedible. The Italian bakeries are way better. Jeanies is way way better. They have a minimum on credit card charges. The rainbow cookies were dry and to much chocolate not like how they should be.
