I've been coming to Bagel Boss Hewlett for years and it never disappoints. The everything bagel is perfectly chewy with just the right amount of seeds, and their scallion cream cheese is creamy and loaded with flavor. I also love the vegetable cream cheese and the smoked lox - everything tastes super fresh. The owner and staff are always friendly and fast, even during the morning rush. Plenty of seating if you want to eat there, and it's open 24 hours which is a lifesaver. Great for breakfast sandwiches too. Highly recommend if you're in Hewlett or nearby - this is my go-to spot on Long Island for bagels. 10/10! read more

I placed an order for a plain bagel with cream cheese and lox and discovered visible mold on the bagel upon opening it. I returned to the store and discretely brought the issue to the attention of an employee named Alec to a pile alarming other customers. Unfortunately he was dismissive and denied the presence of mold even as I showed him the item . As a nurse practitioner with a background in biochemistry , I explained the concern calmly and clearly. I was not seeking a refund and was willing to purchase a replacement ; my concern was the handling of the situation . The interaction was unprofessional and disappointing as I've been a customer since since 2010. I stopped in there the other day for the first time ever working in the area. I got an egg onion bagel with egg, onion, and mushroom egg salad and then I got a plain salt bagel and a yahoo. Number one, yahoo who needs to be cold and it wasn't. I always get a plain salt bagel, because it's kind of like a pretzel. I had a hard time tearing that bagel to take a piece out of it. The texture of the bagels are horrible. You would think in the neighborhood of primarily Jewish people that the Bagles would be good . ShopRite has better bagels than that place does. And the egg salad was bland and I tasted a little bit of freezer burn.I ate 1/2 of it . The wait was long. For many years now, I would regularly go to this Bagel Boss as well as the one on Old Country Rd and the one on Union tpke I'm not sure what happened, but there's been a significant shift in the quality of the bagels i've received. Bagel Boss used to be the bagel place I would brag about to people because they never missed! Now I can guarantee that I'll get a stale bagel regardless of the location I go to. OMG! The place was so dirty. No one cleaned up floor that kids threw food on... even the walls behind the tables had food residue on them. For how long? No one I'm sure knows. The windows inside near the tables had dead bugs encrusted on them. Besides the fact you had to wait it seemed like forever to get food. In dire need of a coffee after a grocery run and really wanting a bagel with cream cheese I yelped and found I was around the corner from Bagel Boss. My first thought was BAGELS yes! Maybe I'll get some lox. I parked right out front and found a nice sized bagel joint with a bunch of Hewlett locals just hanging out and having their breakfast, meetings or coffee. This tells me that this is a comfort zone for folks in the neighborhood and that's delightful. I once lived in Prospect Heights and spent many mornings seated enjoying my coffee and staring at the birds and this reminded me of that but on a grander scale. I appreciate how big the place was, they made juice, bagels, salads, sandwiches, coffee and I sure that doesn't cover it all. They had fresh baked goods and cashiers walking about behind the counter taking orders. I had never been but was able to fall right in step with everyone else place my order pick it up and pay. I got an egg everything bagel with veggie cream cheese toasted and an ice coffee black 1 sugar. I took my order to go and the bagel almost didn't make it home. When I got inside to finish it off I found that I had eaten just about the whole thing which was oozing with cream cheese and crunchy and soft at the same time just how I like it. If I am ever in the area I will not forget you Bagel Boss and if I'm catering and event since you are technically closer to me than the other Bagel spot that does "rainbow bagels" I guess it only makes sense to choose this place. When I saw the low ratings I was originally concerned but reading the reason changed my mind. Someone said they were calling and people were hanging up. There are not many who work inside. 1 person is doing all the pickup orders and another manning the front counter taking orders. This place seems popular and the food and bagels are fresh. Slightly more pricier than other bagel shops. It is Kosher tho and maybe that may add to the quality of the food and price. I bought 2 LEO omelets that came with a bagel and coffee. I enjoyed how fresh it was and they guy at the counter was friendly as were the customers waiting. I never said good morning so many times waiting for an order. Personally I like that. I will be back. It will replace the Magic Bagel place I used to go to fue to 2 Indian women working there with lack of manners. read more

The gentleman behind the counter was adorable and because of that I wish I could give this place a better review but I can't. For starters I had no idea it was a kosher bagel shop. Thats completely fine however a little hypocritical because it's actually dirty. The "we support Israel" signs were hard to see, and there's even fine print that states the money will go directly to the IDF. Heartbreaking. It was 3 am and we had already ordered before I noticed the signs. Before we paid, a couple of Muslim men were going over their receipt and it was pretty clear they had been overcharged. The cashier (not the sweet man who helped me) refused to acknowledge his mistake. My partner then informed me that he has noticed weird charges when he's been to this location himself before but as I've said, it was 3 am and we had no other choice. I got egg salad on an onion bagel, Cole slaw and their homemade fruit punch. My partner got a tuna sandwich. And their strawberry lemonade. Those fountain containers that held the homemade drinks have never been cleaned. We threw the drinks out immediately. It was disgusting. The bagel was fine the egg salad was fine. The coleslaw was also bad. My partner had diarrhea. I wasn't going to return because I don't support this shops beliefs but I would have given them a good review if the food was good. Much like pizza, bagels are a food that I spent my entire childhood getting hyped up for. My dad lamented how bagels in Hawaii are too bready and don't taste like anything. On sporadic trips to NYC I've tried bagels at Russ and Daughters in LES and Hot Bagels in Boro Park. Both had great toppings, the former was kind of hard and the latter a little burnt. This place met my expectations for a New York bagel, even if it's technically not in the city. Crispy outside and chewy but not hard interior with delicious garlic on the outside. This place is also not a tourist spot like Russ and Daughters, or mostly haredim like hot bagels. I wouldn't doubt that there are better bagels in the area, but it more than met my expectations. Plus it's probably the first decent bagel I had in New York, so it holds a decent place in my heart. One of the cooks is also a jew from Hawaii (if I remember correctly) and there aren't many of us! read more

Not worth the prices. It's really a shame that they're not better. They have an amazing location with great parking in a busy strip of good stores.. The issue is the quality and freshness of their products. If it was better it *might* be worth it but as it is, NO. The inconsistency in quality is unbelievable, it's as though they have different people making each bagel. I ordered 2 each of 3 different kind of bagels and every one of them was a different quality with a different issue. For example I ordered 2 plain bagels, one was fresh, crispy outside, chewy interior - perfect. The second was hard as a rock, small with grate marks all over it as though it had been sitting in a bin for a week. One of the everything bagels was raw and undercooked, the other was hard and small with a brown top and pale bottom. The differences in quality, freshness and doneness all within the same order is downright weird! NOT AT ALL HAPPY I ORDERED HERE! Today I ordered from Bagel Boss in Hewlett via Postmates an Uber company. On their menu for a Smoked Nova Salmon sandwich their only choice of bread to choose from was a bialy or a roll? Why? This is a bagel store I thought? So in my directions I wrote use an EGG EVERYTHING BAGEL instead of a roll. They didn't do it, they gave me 2 sandwich's using rolls. The lox were skimpy, and the 2 different smoothies I ordered for my wife and myself, after taking one sip, it went right into the toilet bowl, what a horrible off taste they both had, undrinkable! The 2 stars I gave were for the blueberry cheese blintzers, they were very good. Using Uber, and these other food delivery services, you usually pay a higher price for each item ordered than buying direct at the restaurant. all the more reason I wont be going back to Bagel Boss in Hewlett! read more

My dad and I came here to get bagels and there were school age teenagers working the shop which is no problem However they were not wearing gloves when making our bagels. Fuhgeddaboutit! $1.35 for supermarket quality bagels, soft doughy and not too big. No bakers dozens either. Look, I can live with a weak excuse for a NY bagel, but at least make good coffee. I never thought I'd be writing a bad review for Bagel Boss of Hewlett as I've been coming here for years and getting my catering hear for years. A couple of weeks ago I went in there at 6:50 a.m. on a Saturday morning, there was one other person in there. There were 3 people standing in the back and one walked over, I thought to take our order but instead she just got on a ladder and took cups down from the shelf, didn't even acknowledge us. I told my husband to put down the coffee he made and we left as I was in a rush to get somewhere. Then this past Monday night we stopped in to get 2 bagels with cream cheese, a 20 oz soda and a small iced coffee, $18.00, how is that possible??? Not only was the place empty but it was filthy!!! The handle on the bathroom door is falling off, the toilet paper holder ACTUALLY DID FALL OFF THE WALL!!! The floors are filthy as are the tables, chairs and bench seats. Also, if you're going to be open 24 hours you need to keep a cleaning person there at all times to keep up with the mess. I am disappointed and disgusted and we will definitely NOT be giving our business to them anymore unless they clean that place up and check their prices!!! There's a 24 hour bagel store in Oceanside, in the Trader Joe's shopping center. They are not Kosher but the place is ALWAYS clean, the food is delicious and fresh, the staff is always attentive and they always get the orders right. They're not the least expensive but I don't mind paying for good food and good service!!! read more

I must say after being a loyal customer since opening I am taken back by my recent experiences over the past several months. The bagels seem to have gotten smaller and are more like mini bagels. If your going to downsize the product then downsize the price! I'd like to start by stating that since moving to the area 20 years ago I have been coming to Bagel Boss 2-3x a week - BUT will NEVER EVER GO AGAIN. I am disgusted by the level of customer service received by staff who work at Bagel Boss. When I used my credit card to purchase $44.17 of bagels this morning they told me that the transaction was canceled and showed me a receipt. However when I showed them my iPhone with the card notification of the purchase, the man behind the counter wanted to write down my credit card number on the receipt. I advised him that I was not giving him my credit card to write down so it could be possibly compromised. (This violated all merchant account terms and conditions) After arguing back-and-forth for several minutes I said "here's my card. Charge my card again and I will dispute it when I see 2 charges and it will cost you almost more than $44.15" The gentleman behind the counter then literally threw my card back at me, which landed on the floor, and said never come back here again. I expressed to this animal my disbelief and said I will never return to your establishment and a matter fact I will post this review on every single online source. DO NOT GO HERE!!! My sister has usually been the one to pick up bagels for our family and I have always thought these bagels were mediocre, at best. I went here today myself because Bagelo has permanently closed down and my family and I were craving bagels. Worst mistake of my life. Once inside, there is no proper line, the waiting time is taking forever and when it is finally my turn, they completely ignore me. They keep taking about 10 more customers as I am trying to get their attention and trying to speak to them. The bagels were cold and they got my order completely wrong. On top of all this, there was a HAIR found in my food. Thank God I pull apart my bagels to eat them otherwise I'm not so sure I would noticed. Bagels / Sandwiches Bagel Boss has locations around the island and overall I'm not a huge fan of any of them - they are passable but nothing to die for. This location seems somewhat nicer than the others both in the overall layout and the help. Set up like a tiny cafe with plenty of tables along the right side of the place and along the left a long display case with tons of goodies that make you hungry by the time you get to the spot to order. The help was - well helpful. The prices were a bit steep which is pretty much the standard at this chain. Bagels were decent but I've had better. Parking along the side. read more
