As someone who's been in the service industry I can see why this place is run the way it is.......You have a hard working owner ( Gerard ) there every single day watching and making sure his food is going out at 100% each and every order . I never had to return any order cause it wasn't made right or didn't taste good , the only one time I went back cause they forgot to put in a side dressing, it was in the summer and the place was packed , I understand things happen .The service is on point , very polite and also hardworking individuals. Stopped here yesterday on the way to the beach because all my friends have talked so highly of this establishment. I absolutely loved it the second I saw the beautiful building and I didn't even walk in yet. The bagel place had all fresh fruits, rice puddings, drinks and every and any snack you can think of. A lot of cakes and goodies too. The iced coffee was amazing and the sandwiches and breakfast selections we got were delicious. I would highly recommend this place and I told my friends that are staying in Long Beach for a month about this spot. The staff took everybody's orders right away (and my husband is very picky lol) and got us out of there in no time with no errors. The staff even at the register were so nice and outing too! While waiting for AAA to arrive, I went into the store to get some cold drinks and was impressed with its cleanliness and convivial atmosphere. The counter persons seemed to know and care about their customers and it was noticeable. I also appreciate how the bagels come in "small" as well as regular size (regular should really be called jumbo though). I rarely write bad reviews, but feel the need to after an unpleasant experience here. Have stopped in several times over the years in the morning on my way to the Atlantic Beach bridge. To be honest, never got a warm feeling or greeting as they seem to reserve it for the regulars. Well, yesterday morning around 8am I came in for a cup of coffee. It was moderately busy and I waited my turn by the register. There were several people behind the counter preparing orders. After a few minutes when the person by the register was free, I politely asked for a large cup of coffee. She barely acknowledged this and I stepped aside to let the next person order. Her demeanor said "I don't want to be here" loud and clear. A man came in who obviously is a regular, picked up a newspaper and then walked up to the counter and ordered breakfast. The staff behind the counter then proceeded to prepare his order. I waited a couple of minutes and said "I'm waiting for a cup of coffee." The same person who I originally gave my order to looked at me and walked over to the coffee machine, at which time she told another employee I was waiting for coffee. Another employee saw this and gave me the coffee, apologizing for the unprofessional and rude service of her fellow staff member. When a person walks into an establishment, they should feel welcome and that their patronage is important. It does not matter if you are ordering a cup of coffee or an entire meal. I will never walk into this place again for coffee or anything else. read more

I'd give this place 3 stars BUT considering the crazy pandemic, they really are not taking any necessary precautions. The food is good- but the service... meh. Almost every time I go I end up waiting for at least 15-20 minutes as the kids working there get orders wrong nearly every single time. They always forget something. We're not talking complicated "I'll change the turkey club sandwich to chicken and switching up the cheeses and sauces." I mean they forget an ENTIRE sandwich... nearly every time in my experience. Why keep going? Because I work in the area and the food is good- you just need to have the time to wait and the patience. But I was there today and what got to me is the BIG sign on the door to wear masks- yet the guys working in the back, no masks... no gloves. The kids working up front- no gloves and only a few had masks. One had no mask at all working the cash register, one had a mask that was so low I couldn't just see her nose, I saw her teeth! Her teeth! She took a sip of her drink and she didn't even need to pull the mask down (but of course she did!) Staff walked in and out, had people crowded around the register. No bueno. These kids also had their friends come in and are chatting as if nothing is going on- masks on their chins if at all. I get that they're kids and don't take it seriously- but considering the owner is there I'm not sure why not. All the other restaurants in the area only allow a few people in at a time are all in masks and gloves and are taking coronavirus very seriously. To sum it up I do like this place but I wish they'd hire some more mature staff who took appropriate precautions and paid attention to orders, these kids have been working there forever now and haven't gotten any better in my opinion. read more

When I saw this new deli open on Park Street in Atlantic Beach, I groaned and wondered what a community this small needed with yet another bagel place/deli. Still - with the Atlantic Beach Cafe on Dutchess slipping a bit in quality, I figured it was worth giving a try. I hereby announce that I have found the best pumpernickel bagel in the world. Massive, soft inside with a good crisp exterior, and packed with caraway seeds to burst with flavor, this bagel is an absolute delight. Their poppy-seed bagel is good as well, but I'm absolutely sold on the pumpernickel. Oh - and the scallion cream cheese pairs perfectly with it, and is fresh, soft, and fluffy. I had a chance to chat with the owner, and she is local to the area having grown up in Atlantic Beach where her father used to also own a restaurant. She and all her staff are friendly, fast, and efficient. I'm looking forward to trying their sandwiches, and hope that this can truly become a regular spot of mine for years to come. read more
