I stopped by Island Bagel Bar, which is located right down the street from Costco Wholesale, and I have to say I was a little surprised before even going in. When I looked them up, I noticed they had some really bad reviews, but once I arrived, the place was packed. The line was long, and even after I joined it, more people kept coming in behind me. That made me wonder who exactly left those reviews because it clearly seemed like a popular spot with locals. Once inside, I went over to the grill station and ordered a turkey, bacon, egg, and cheese with salt and pepper on a plain bagel, along with a bottle of water. The line moved pretty smoothly. By the time we got to the register, the cashier helping us gave us two free cookies, which was a really nice gesture. The prices weren't overwhelming, and the service was really good. Everyone working there was nice and attentive, and they got our order exactly right. The food was also really good. The bagel tasted fresh, and everything was made well. Inside, they have tables where you can sit and eat. The atmosphere felt bright, warm, and welcoming. I had a really good experience and honestly have no complaints. Based on my visit, they definitely deserve a positive review. I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but mine was great. read more

Nothing but Hispanics work here, they cater to their kind. Food presentation is not always good. I have had problems with my order before. Today saw elderly Hispanic man with western omelet with whole toast on side looked really good, fluffy. Nice. I ordered, you should have seen the omelet, look like they scrambled the egg, threw peppers in, did not see ham not stacked like an omelet. This is last straw done with them read more

I ordered a dozen pumpernickel bagels and two "heros" pictured to be made of bagel dough. Two free bagels were supposed to come with a dozen. I only received 12 bagels, only two of which were pumpernickel. The "hero's" were ordinary Italian deli bread. No reason they could not call to say they couldn't fulfill my order. Non reason to list unavailable items. Never again read more

Had a walk on the boardwalk and back to my fav spot. As usual They didn't disappoint. I had a ham, egg and cheese with lettuce and tomato on a roll, and my friend had a turkey bacon and cheese with coffee. All good and made in a timely fashion. This place is good for their juices and friendly atmosphere. This is my first time eating here, but I'm always breezing in on the way to work. They have a good Turnover and the quality shows it. Love this place. read more

An ok bagel shop but I didn't like the specialty cream cheeses. The service was good and there were great variety.

New to the far rockaway area came over here because I had to run some errands and this place was near. I decided to try it out. place was empty it had maybe 2 people waiting for there order, they had 5 people behind the counter. I'm assuming there were working on online orders. I waited just to place my order like 10 mins as soon as I placed it the bacon, egg and cheese I order was done in less then 5 mins they must of just pulled it from someone else order. It wasn't stacked had the thinnest layer of egg and cheese and bacon. I went to go pay with my card come to find out it's a $7 minimum so I had to add to my order. I definitely won't be coming back here. read more

Shady that they operate under a different name on Uber Eats. Food is subpar and honestly. Just go somewhere else.

*Beware* this establishment has disguised themselves as NYC Bagels on UberEats. I don't order from here because I DONT LIKE THIS ESTABLISHMENT, but when I thought I was ordering from a new NYC Bagels I was ready to give it a try. Food is not good very underwhelming, something tasted sour on my sandwich. Just a note NYC bagels and Bagel Bar have same menu items just different names and I guess because they think it's a city brand NYC Bagel is wayyyy more expensive. I'm sorry it was not good at all I'll let the photos do the talking. Also does this look like a large iced coffee to you????????????? Does that sandwich look like the photo? No terrible read more

This business is operating on Uber Eats under two different entities. Island Bagel Bar is the correct name of the business but there is another entity on Uber eats called bag n wich. Please use caution when eating at this scammer restaurant do not use Uber eats. Try not to give them any money. Food is great-- no doubt about that. Breakfast sandwiches are always high quality. It's the delivery service I would highly advise against. Never in my history of ordering food have I ever been questioned about where exactly I live within my residence and been asked about the ethnicities/religions of those within. The delivery driver who works directly for the store, frustrated by a longer wait while delivering the items than usual, entered the residence facility and allegedly heard "Jewish children" inside, which he then justified as a safety risk for himself. He told me that 'the parents of the kids could see him and claim that something was going on'-- a claim that seemed totally ridiculous to me given than no one in their right mind would report a delivery person as a safety risk to the police or otherwise. Why would anyone report some sort of safety risk from a delivery employee? Why did the fact that they were Jewish children matter? I did not find any of these questions to be relevant OR necessary to the delivery experience. In fact, I felt highly uncomfortable during his line of questioning. At the end, he exclaimed "next time, I'll keep your food". I will not be ordering delivery through their website or by calling in anymore. In-person, the experience is great. If you order for delivery, I'd recommend using Uber Eats instead. There are safety tools within the Uber Eats app that allow one to record, report and follow-up on negative experiences such as the one I described above. read more

Sunday September 3 2923. 10:10 am. This is my 2 time attempting to get a juice from this establishment. I'm standing waiting to be serve and no one is approaching me b. There a girl behind the counter who looks lost. After a few minutes she greets me with " what do you want ". Not a friendly greeting I asked for the 16 oz green Popeyes And she told me I had to pay first. Now I've seen people in front of me order item never paid first. So why you asking me ? Another girl behind the counter said. Do you want me to make the juice. I said I just want my juice I order. She ask me what I order Now she telling the girl how to make it. And she seem lost. I just said cancel my order and walked out. I turn around to speak with a manager the place was crowed so I'm just going to post this on yelp read more

What's happened to this business that has served the Five Towns community for over 40 years? This store is dirty. The workers are slow, do not know how to move the line. A bagel store shouldn't sell Spanish food. There's less of an emphasis on fishes and spreads for the bagels. Hmmmm....maybe I'll put on empanada on my bagel with cream cheese. Delivery service is awful too. read more

I chose to try Island Bagel through Seamless for delivery at work. Delivery seems to be the safest way for me to try new food to avoid having my toddler running around the restaurant wreaking havoc and for time constraints when my break at work is only an hour. I got the greek omelette, a greek salad, a coffee and a wrap. I ate the greek salad and omelette on my 4 PM early bird special dinner break and the wrap which I only ate half the bread with on my 15 minute break later on that night. The coffee was decent definitely tasted a like coffee not some watered down excuse for coffee that I've gotten at various places before. The omelette was a little tangy tasting, I asked for extra cheese though so it's possible the tanginess was because of the extra feta cheese. It wasn't a bad omelette though. The wrap was decent as well. I watch my carbs so I only ate half the wrap and the insides of the other half of the wrap. Wraps in restaurants can be full of carbs so I usually ditch half the bread just in case. The salad was nice more veggies and not a ton of lettuce filler like other places do. Overall this place was okay wouldn't say it was amazing but wouldn't say it was bad either. read more

Find another spot to get your food. White owned, with Spanish workers, hella rude, not professional! I spend my money at places that are not racist, will never go back there again. I got sick from the egg and cheese on a roll. Then I went back to complain, the owner brushed me off like with his hand doing a gesture and said just go. I have sadly been ordering food from them regularly, but when I went into this dump- I saw the place and was treated rudely. I didn't raise my voice nor make a scene, they were just nasty in general. Next time I will order from Bagel Boss, a more reputable establishment. Anytime you order for delivery, people, go inside and know where your food is coming from! Please! read more

Um... Where's the "-5 stars " button? So this is my 3rd time here and each time " I knew better". Sometimes I get hungry but I don't want the other things around... I want something simple... A bagel. Let me start off by saying : it stinks in here! What is up with this funky mop smell? Is this the new norm? This place seriously needs to be wiped down and sanitized! Been here 3 or 4 times and each time the guy behind the deli that makes the sandwiches takes his time because he is always on his phone looking at instagram or whatever else he's been looking at. He wears gloves but that makes no sense.... you know how many germs are on your phones? It's worst than a toilet seat. The bagels are always hard and stale. How are you a bagel place and you don't sell fresh bagels EVERY DAY? One day I got a turkey sandwich and the meat was slimy so i know it was spoiled. I would never go back to this place. Bagels are okay, like just about every other Long Island bagel place. Breakfast sandwiches are ok. Tbere are worse out there, certainly are many more that are better. The service is terrible. The counter can do only one thing at a time so if the customer in front of you ordered eggs you get to the counterman watch eggs cook instead of helping the next customer. I will be looking for another bagel place in that area as waiting in line for no reason makes absolutely no sense. read more

I've ordered for delivery and have gone into the restaurant. The food is poor. How do you mess up bacon? They bagels are just ok. All the things said about their service are true. Food was not bad, but what really irked me was the new owner constantly saying he didn't understand people when what they said was clear as day and going as far to tell a customer to pull down their "anxiety cloth" (face mask). If someone needs to wear a mask for their safety, it should not be an issue. Very unprofessional and unappetizing. The wait is also too long and sometimes there was no one taking orders. read more

This place use to be really good. My office orders from them everyday and their food was really good. Recently EVERY order we have placed has been wrong or missing something. fresh, fluffy bagels and they deliver?! Sold. I used to go to The Bagelry in Cedarhurst, but was prompted by a close friend to give Island Bagel Bar a try, which I did- and I haven't been back to Cedarhurst for bagels since. The worst bagels that I ever purchased.....no taste.... just horrible and a plain bagel had the shape of a tennis ball

The food came faster than stated which was lovely! The salad was fresh the fries were a little soggy from being in a closed container but that almost always happens with delivery. However, the order did have two errors. They forgot my salad dressing and the salad I received had iceberg lettuce i ordered romaine lettuce. They credited me the .60 for the missing dressing but it didn't help in the moment of eating a dry salad. I appreciated the credit. I will probably order from them again as mistakes happen but the food was fresh. read more

If I could give this place more stars in good conscience I would, but there are just too many issues that need correcting, and management need to know about them. The fact that this is the only non-kosher bagel place in the Lawrence Cedarhurst area that makes GOOD TASTING bagels is worth half a star, the other half goes to the convenience of being able to walk around the corner to get here. My issues with this place are as follows, and it is my hope that their team can acknowledge these issues and work to change them because honestly they are all fixable if they want to put in the effort: 1) PRICES: when I get less than 6 bagels to take home, I'm either charged 90 cents or 95 cents. Sometimes I get a nickel back, sometimes a dime. Why do the prices change back and forth? We are talking pennies on the dollar here but consistency means something...Your menu says they are 90 cents per, how about uniformity with this? Problem is, it's not just take home bagels where this happens. I am regularly charged a different amount for the following items: -toasted bagel with butter and 2 eggs: $2.49, $2.51, $2.75, or $2.90. -toasted bagel with butter, 2 eggs and bacon: $3.19, $3.49, $3.75, or $3.91. Sometimes these come with a free OJ, sometimes they don't, but the thing is, their menu says it comes with a free OJ M-F before 11am - if it's Thursday at 10:30 why am I being charged and extra 50 cents for free OJ? And even still, why do the prices change based on who is making my order? Which leads to... 2) half the people behind the counter do not even acknowledge customers - no eye contact, no "thanks for your patience", no " we will be right with you". you have, at any one time, 6 people behind he counter, and only 3 of the team members actually handling orders, leads to lines out the door. Today for example, i came in and was the only person on line while 3 orders were being made. 3 team members making orders, 2 team members not doing anything, and one on their cell phone by the griddle?? By the time I gave my order in (after waiting 8-10 minutes), the line was 9 customers deep behind me. 3) no hot bagels??? With the amount of volume this place does I'm shocked that every time I ask "what bagels are hot right now" the answer is always the same: "we dont have anything hot". I mean I am pretty sure they are making bagels in-house, and I have seen dozens of bagels be brought out to the front from the back kitchen, so how is it that for years and years, this place never turns out a hot bagel fresh from the oven? Bottom line, this is the only game in town if you want to enjoy a non kosher bagel place, but they really could be better if they tried. Please try!!! read more

Delivery took over an hour and the food was **blah**! I expected an amazing bagel from a place called the Bagel Bar but had quite the opposite. I ordered 3 everything bagels with cream cheese and jelly on the side. I received 3 PLAIN bagels with BUTTER on the bagel and jelly on the side. The omelette was ok but lacked any type of salt or pepper and the home fries were ok. I must say that their half and half iced tea/lemonade was pretty amazing....that's about it! read more

So, this is one of several places in the area that offers breakfast foods. However, we decided to order here for breakfast via Seamless anyway despite the $20 minimum for delivery. It has been nearly an hour and a half and our breakfast sandwiches still have not arrived yet. I mean it's lunch time already and we are waiting for our breakfast sandwiches. We called them and he tells us that there is traffic -- I suppose you can get stuck in traffic for half an hour going 5 blocks. Well, with terrible service, no matter how good your food is (although there is no way you can screw up breakfast foods, although they have delivered coffee without milk or sugar before), I'm done with this restaurant. read more
