First time here and we came here because, although limited, the reviews were good. However, at 9am on a Sunday morning, there was no line. My issue is that we ordered toasted bagels all around and none seemed toasted at all. I ordered a flat bagel and while it wasn't a regular bagel, it wasn't the flat bagel I've been used too. Also, it didn't seem like the bagels were fresh; the weren't terrible, but for a place that only sells bagels, and having grown up in NY, they weren't as I expected. We've lived here forever and have tried to stay loyal to this place, especially under its new management, but they've made it nearly impossible. It's a complete scam to say the least. Overpriced, bagels aren't great, if you ask for a spread on your bagel you have to open the bagel to search for it because it's hardly there. If you ask them to actually put butter or cream cheese on, they charge you for "extra," which in reality is just a normal amount. Coming from someone who has gone here for almost 20 years, save your time and money and go to a different place in the area. Also, keep in mind that almost all, if not all, the good reviews on here are from before the current management. read more

The best bacon egg and cheese I love this place this is always my go to bagel breakfast spot

Stopped in on my way out East to grab some breakfast for my group. I got a couple of egg sandwiches, bagels, and coffee. They were super friendly and prepped my order pretty quickly. I personally had a bagel and scallion cream cheese. The bagel was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, my ideal consistency. The scallion cream cheese also had a decent amount of scallion. I really like it here. How to say? This place is very welcoming. The staff and owners are friendly and it makes me want to sit down and eat for a while. I don't feel rushed and can enjoy my food there. It feels like a Ma and Pa shop, with some chairs and tables inside. Very affordable and quiet. It's lovely and clean. I've only had their bagels and cheese since I came after breakfast time, but next time I'm trying some more food. I recommend seating down to enjoy your food there. Not what it used to be . Very little butter on the bagels , not so soft . Not hard , but it took more energy than I thought to bite into it . I see that there are a lot of good reviews, but I see a lot of bad ones also. My review was just my opinion, but there are many other places to go, that you can get a soft, easy to chew bagel, made the way you like it, and with an ample amount of butter. These are my absolute favorite bagels but I HATE this store. They are beyond cheap when ordering a sandwich, especially with any spread. There's hardly any cream cheese, butter, whatever... and when you ask for extra they charge you $.50 and STILL hardly add anything. FYI they charge 1.50 for a roll and the deli up the block charges $.85 so it's worth going a block away. We are in store 4 to 5 days a week and they look right through us. Amazing food, super clean & friendly!!! I work In town and get breakfast here every morning. You wouldn't think so but most places do not know how to cook an egg over medium, they get it right 100% of the time. Highly recommended for breakfast and lunch. It's a very average place. Sure it's not flashy or stand out as much, but that doesn't really matter to me. Their roast beef melt on an egg bagel/roll with melted cheese, mayo and BBQ sauce is mostly the main reason me and my friends go in. We never really tried most of the other stuff cause it's CRAAAAAAZY expensive for what you could simply make at home or go somewhere else. Weird enough is that if you order JUST a bagel it is kinda hard tasting. But for awesome service that they deliver when you walk through that door and the sandwiches that me and my friends drool for, it's a good little place for a bite to eat IF you wanna give up the money required. read more

i live in WI now, and am frequently disappointed when I go to the bagel stores in NY now. The bagels have gotten bigger and softer. So today when I went to Malverne Bagels, I had diminished expectations. So I was very happy that the bagels were tasty, warm and exactly right on chewiness. The counter help knew how to kibbutz, and I really miss being able to be a smartass, and not have people take offense. With so many bagel places around why bother stopping here. I only come here when I have no other option and I am pressed for time. Even then it is always a disappointment. The bagels are dry and tough and they never clean the cutting board so you all you taste is an everything bagel no matter what kind of bagel you ask for. I occasionally buy bagels for my wife's elementary school from Malverne Bagels. The owner is a stand-up guy. He always treats me with respect and its comforting to deal with pleasant individuals at 6:30 in the morning. His staff, mainly a female counter worker, goes out of her way to make sure that customers come back. Malverne is a small niche area so familiar faces and routine customers are frequent.
