I honestly had no idea this Bagel Beanery existed, but used to visit the location in Grand Rapids pretty regularly. (Apparently they are not related though) The menu includes bagels, bagel sandwiches, and regular sandwiches, as well as coffee and non-coffee drinks. I recently grabbed lunch here and really liked the bagel sandwich I got, the California turkey: smoked turkey, provolone cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, guacamole and ancho mayo all stacked on a toasted Asiago cheese bagel. The sandwich was made quickly and the ingredients were all fresh and tasty. The bagel was soft enough to bite and I loved the combination. There are a few shelves of Asian snacks for sale, which I thought was fun and interesting. It was pretty warm inside, so you might want to take your food to go if it's hot out, but there is some seating inside if you want to dine in. Since I don't live in town, I did have a little bit of trouble finding this location. It's in the same building as a record store and I think the main entrance is in the back off the parking lot. I asked for my chamomile tea chilled, it comes with whipped topping, had no idea. I had to scrape it off. There seems to be other stuff in my tea in my tea as well. It wasn't what I expected at all. It tastes okay, just wasn't what I was wanting or expecting at all. Let me tell you the truth: I LOVE BAGELS. I love finding great bagel shops, eating bagel chips, toasting a bagel in the morning for breakfast... They make me happy. Since we moved to Kalamazoo a few years ago, this has been our favorite bagel place. While the outside and toppings on a bagel are important, the true mark of bagel goodness, to me, is the inside. Bagel Beanery bagels are doughy and light inside - with a perfect mouth feel and delicious taste. The staff has always been friendly, while I'm there. Today, the woman helping me was kind, funny (she also loves bagels! Of course!), and informative. Did you know that fresh bagels are only an hour away? If a flavor is out, it will be restocked within an hour with freshly baked bagels. I love their salt bagels (my go-to), but the other flavors are also delicious. They have many cheese flavors, including a tomato pepper jack that tastes a little bit like spicy goldfish crackers. There are also sweet bagels, but that isn't my thing. You can get them to go (by the half dozen or dozen), or sliced, toasted, with toppings, etc. There is coffee (made or beans), as well as muffins and other snacks. I haven't gotten a sandwich here, so cannot attest to that. The decor has local landmarks in murals on the wall, and a cute black and white floor. Large windows let in the sun, and allow you to people watch, if that is your thing. On street parking, and a handicap spot right in the lot, so you don't have to deal with watching for traffic on Westnedge. read more

I always get cream cheese ON THE SIDE because everyone adds way too much. There was enough to put cream cheese on a second bagel. When I told the person who made it that I ordered the cream cheese on the side, she said how they always put it on the bagels which is funny because when I went in on Monday, they put the cream cheese on the side like I asked. It may not seem like a big deal, but this is disgusting to me. And I ordered two bagels, the 2nd one which I won't be eating for a couple of hours, so it's going to be sitting in that mess for awhile. I'm sure they don't care, but I won't be back. read more

They had tons of options and everything we tried was amazing! Plain bagels, bagel sandwiches, soup, macaroons & coffee. The setting was quaint- just a local little shop which we loved (although some people rated it lower for that!). Several table options and lots of stuff in the cooler if you'd prefer something bottled. The employees were so helpful in navigating the menu and making perfect recommendations- the wait time wasn't long and they had a constant line which just proves it's a good place. We came upon this place by accident after there was too long of a wait at Crows Nest. It's just what we needed - coffee and a quick breakfast prior to catching the train! I ordered the Tuscan Scramble and my bf ordered the Arizona. Both were delicious! Both sandwiches, coffee, and a large pop was $17! Haven't been here much but me and my kiddo like it a lot and they are always friendly. We got hooked on the bagel crisps (seriously had multiple bags in our car/house all summer). This has been the worst experience I have had thus far. I eat pretty much about everything, but I ordered the salmon rice bowl and it honestly was unedible.... it tasted so old and stale and came in a to go tupperwhere pre made which made me also feel after tasting it that it had been sitting in the back fridge for a couple of days.
